This is a port of the original tool by @russel5 from the Z3C forums
I have added support for Z3 D6603, D6653, D6633, D6646 and D6643.
PROCEDURE
* Update to .291 as usual via OTA from Sony or flashing directly.
* Make sure you have ADB set up correctly.
* Use FlashTool to flash the attached .575_kernel.zip for your device before running the recovery tool. You need to re-name the zip and change the .zip extension to .ftf before flashing it! (make sure windows is configured to show file extensions)
* Reboot and check the build date of the kernel. If it is April, you are on 575 kernel and good to go. If June, you are still on 291 kernel and the tool wont work due to the exploit being patched.
** The build number of the rom will show 291, regardless of which kernel is flashed **
* download Recovery_for_MM575-291v5.zip and extract it.
* enable USB-debugging on your phone and plug phone to computer via USB
* Make sure you have closed Flashtool and anything else that uses adb, then run install.bat
* after running the tool you should boot straight into recovery. Then flash https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4164510&d=1496008012to obtain SuperSU root. Put it on the device or external sd card if device is encrypted.
* re-flash the .291 KERNEL back again with Flashtool using the attached 291_kernel.zip for your device. Again, change/re-name the .zip extension to .ftf first! (you won't lose root or recovery)
ADDITIONAL NOTES
If on Windows, in FolderSettings->Show file extensions to be able to rename from ZIP to FTF.
- Assuming it has booted to TWRP after running the tool, to re-enter it, press volume down during re-boot when you see the green LED and feel a vibration. You have 2 seconds to do it. No need to smash volume down repeatedly.
- Reboot apps DO NOT WORK on Sony MM.
- Install a new busybox through Play store at your own risk. Some will break recovery, some won't.
- Some apps install their own busybox. This can also break recovery. If this happens, try running the tool again.
Thanks:
@zxz0O0 for iovyroot
@Wolfbreak for idea with recroot
Special credits to @russel5 for the tool, @serajr for the recovery scripts, and @gustavo_v for showing how to add devices.
Edit: the D6603-6653 .291 zip has a typo. It is actually 23.5.A.1.291, not 23.5.A.0.291

How hard is for u to add offset from Xperia Z2 Tablet SGP521 to iovyroot?
I can upload kernel.sin if u are willing to do same for z2 tablet.
Great? Thank you

Edit: Nothing for z2 tablet yet. Post a 575 kernel.sin here and I will add it.

Ahh yes the old DoomLorD method.
Rest assured 575 will boot on 291 so you can run the tool to get recovery, (and then flash the super user zip of your choice).
Also be assured that when you re-flash 291 kernel again, you will still retain root and recovery.

STOCK ROM Xperia Z (C6603) 10.4.1.B.0.101 Generic UA (Unbranded Ukraine)
Hi all, this is my first take at creating a flashable zip which I tested and found working on my Unlocked Bootloader Xperia Z (C6603)
Stock ROM uploaded by @smardu http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50203976&postcount=68
Created using @[NUT]'s DIY Guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2307311 to create a flashable zip rooted with SuperSU, init.d & BusyBox built in with @[NUT]'s XZ Dual Recovery v 2.7.62
I have tested it on my Unlocked Bootloader Xperia Z (C6603) and found working. I have NOT tested on Locked Bootloader. If you are willing to try and let me know!
How I updated:
1. Make a nandroid backup just in case
2. Flash the flashable zip using PhilzTouch (only tested using PhilzTouch Recovery) - I am not sure if it will work on other recoveries
3. Once completed, do not restart your phone, power off the phone instead
4. Connect in Flashmode and Flash the Kernel
5. Reboot and once loaded into system, it should start showing Android is upgrading
I did not clear data or cache before flashing and so far it is working fine with me.
I have also included links to @[NUT]'s latest XZ Dual Recovery v 2.7.85-BETA.flashable as well as the working Xposed Installer Framework for 4.3.

I got a weird issue after flashing this rom..when my phone booted up for 1st time i got this repair icon in my screen, with the loading blue bar on the bottom (1st time i see this on my phone)...after a few minutes it booted up normally, but the only issue i got is that i cannot install any app through my file explorer...only through playstore..when i try to install one app through es explorer eg. i get "sorry,no application error".
Also, xposed framework has issues too..i can view my mods and they are applied to my phone, but when i try to update those who need update, xposed is crashing...so i can only use mods that are already installed through my previous rom.
Anyone has any idea what i did or what maybe went wrong?

What ROM were you previously on? Was it Odexed or Deodexed? And did you wipe data/cache/dalvik before flashing or did you dirty flash? Might work if you do a clean install.
OK, i just figured out my mistake...
I did everything from scratch and everything works flawless now..so i can confirm it is working on a locked bootloader..
So for your interest if someone does the same mistake as i did, just when flashing the kernel .ftf don't exclude anything..that caused my issues i think

I was on 4.3 odexed NCB stock, prerooted. I wiped only cache and dalvik before flashing. I messed up my system by trying another flashable rom that failed during flashing, and then i tried this method, zipped flashed fine, but i unchecked everything except kernel when flashing the .tft. Although i reflashed for 2nd time in a row the .tft, system still messed up. So i did everything from the beginning and now it works fine...
Glad i didn't had to wipe my data in the end...
Thanks for this rom/guide
Silly question, I have unlocked the bootloader, I'm using a stock rom with stock kernel, what I need to know is if after I flash the kernel.tft I need to follow the NUT's thread to install the dual recovery? it is already rooted? I'll do it today as soon as I get home so I just need to know that! :good:

No, dualrecovery is integrated in this rom. Also, busybox and supersu fixes are also included, so you only need to flash the rom and the .ftf kernel file.

Hi
Here is flasable zip file wich install latest ROM 23.0.1.A.4.30 which this time is customized UK, latest stable SuperSu v2.37 and latest beta Dualrecovery .154 for Tablet Z2 with read/write acces to system.
This is tested and works just fine though make nandroid backup before flashing.
Install it by flashing whole zip file with custom recovery. Wipes aren´t necessary but good practise.

Thanks. Is the the lollipop update or just a smaller one? If so what is changed?
Did a bit of research. Looks like it fixed smart cover bug and removes the non functional ultra stamina mode

Just wanted to add that I had to manually install the dual recovery. Installed fine but thought I'd mention it.

So you have working custom recovery? What exactly do you mean that you lost your root? Partial root or something else? If you have working custom recovery why not just flash latest SuperSu from here:
http://download.chainfire.eu/636/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.37.zip
And then about encrytpion keys. Do you mean that you have encrypted your device or perhaps DRM keys? Flashing prerooted firmware have no effects to your device DRM keys if you mean that.
Sooty to be a pita (pain in the ...)

I had root and lost it in the ota... superuser says such not installed... I just went in and tried recovery and it did not come up, so I am assuming it flashed me back to stock in more ways then one... I am now looking at your zip to get root back if I can get dual recovery back on the tablet.

Yes if you have root. However with newer firmwares dualrecovery rooting function don´t work any more becose it use towelroot wich Sony has patched.

You are welcome.
You need Flashtool and correctly installed drivers for it and rootable firmware in ftf format. If I remember correctly latest was 17.1.2.A.0.314. If you want to I believe you can use this one: https://mega.co.nz/#!kcxxjaLA!itErjRi2fYPPswal-c7XasF_lAvPKyY4GwEzY3xgHZ0 It is for SGP511 but memory size is only difference between devices. Or you can find one from general forum.
You can find one instruction how to use flashtool from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45187952&postcount=2

Thank you. Short answer is that as long you have root access you can install prerooted firmwares so basically same way you do with this prerooted firmware. Credits how to make prerooted firmwares are in op. Some point there is no method to root newer firmwares without unlocking your bootloader so I did that too but because backed up TA partition I´m back with rooted device and locked bootloader.
Here are the links to the flashable zip and the ftf for the 23.1.A.0.690 NOBA Lollipop Stock. There is no recovery yet for lollipop stock based Z3TC ROMs, so the zip comes without one.
Downloads:
Flashable PreRooted Zip - GDrive
FTF - GDrive
After installing and gaining root, to get system R/W access you need to run my script which will enable RICDefeat on the device and allow R/W of the system partition. Just extract SGP621-RICDefeat.zip and run the install batch file. It should also work for other devices, but as I have not personally tested it on anything else than my SGP621 and Z2, I cannot guarantee for it. So if this makes your cat explode, it is not my fault.

No recovery for stock based lollipop ATM. I updated the post with that Info now. Also I do not think exposed works with lollipop, or does it? The installer at least told me that it is not compatible at the moment.

Hi, thanks for your work. I make my own zip with ftf and supueruser zip file. The Rom is working perfect and root works, but I can not mount /sytem as RW, every time I tried (as root) I get an "operation not permitted" is there anything I can try to write in system?
Thanks!

Run my script I attached in the first post, after that you should have R/W access without any problems.
Thanks man. I appreciate the work you do for us. so far everything works for me. I think that I was in a rush to get lollipop. Question if want to go back to 4. 4. 4 can I? Or I'm stock on lollipop just saying

I don't know if downgrading would work without loosing your data, but I do not think so. But until now I have not found anything that would make me want to go back to 4.4.4
Any chance you could make a flashable zip for sgp611 please?
I don't know how to use prerooted zip, anyone help?

it's works Thanks a mil!
just updated my sgp621 with your flashable zip and used your script. works like a charm! thanks a lot.
again thanks lowtraxx you are awesome I've try it and it works very good only SGP621 without a problem but. I needed exposed for some feature that some modules give me and I went back to 4. 4. 4 I guess I'll just have to wait for a little bit longer till exposed is working for lollipop and TWRP too. but again thanks a bunch lowtraxx
Noob question, sorry >.<
Hi, @lowtraxx. I'm kind of new to Sony devices, so I'm not confident with rooting yet.
Anyway, my Z3TC (SGP621) is still on stock 4.4.4. So to get rooted 5.0.2, do I need to follow your guide:
"[How-To] Rooted Stock or CM12 with Locked Bootloader for SGP621 using giefroot" from numbers 1 to 37 (with rooted stock)
then flash the prerooted lollipop zip via TWRP? Then the updated RICDefeat? No need to use the lollipop ftf?
Thank you so much for all your work!
lowtraxx said:
So if this makes your cat explode, it is not my fault.

kernels embedded with BusyBox+superSu had higher batter drain issues. and superSU don't get updated if its installed in kernel. that why I prefer stock modified kernel with flashable SuperSu and no busybox installed
can someone share Ftf torrent file for E6653 (single SIM model)

Hi. Sorry for noob question: First we flash kernel and THEN the ftf? Wouldn't the ftf over-ride the kernel? Shall we flash the kernel again after the ftf?
Thanks

I managed to get mine going by flashing the ftf first and then the kernel. When I flashed the kernel first, flashtool actually threw an error when trying to install the ftf. So far no camera fc's or anything. Going to try xposed soon.

You need to flash the FTF first
FTF contains all the necessary firmware files (partition images, Kernel, FOTA kernel, Radio Base Bands, Boot Delivery and so on )
Then without starting the phone you should flash the patched kernel via Flashtool's fastboot mode.
Then turn the phone on and have fun !
Hi, great idea, can I use the kernel for E6653 (.305) ?

I have the same question. I have the E6603 (the poor guy's E6653) and wanted to know if I could safely flash only this FTF and keep my current (stock) ROM. Thanks,
So I flashed the FTF only, excluded the kernel and fota kernel using Flashtool. My Z5 now thinks it's dual SIM.
Weird thing, phone isn't rooted. I'll try to reboot to see if I at least got TWRP.

I did not understand , Flashing the FTF will replace your kernel and make it into a DSDS which your phone is not
--- keeping the stock ROM after once you falshed the FTF is out of the question i guess.

Yes of course it is compatible !!
this firmware is particularly for your Z5 model E6683, and which version of Android you are currently running has nothing to do with FTF flashing.
DSDS stands for dual sim dual standby , its a variant marker used by Sony.
Just download the flashtool (google it) and flash the FTF first then the kernel .
before that keep backup of your staffs .

no need to backup then ..............
and for backing up you need to have TWRP .............
for that please do some googling in general ...........
get a overall idea and then get back here in XDA and I think you will fit in just fine ............ we can then help you out with the specifics I think
