I don't know all I know is most calls and texts lag with an eventual retry .
It's enabled in settings but the icon is missing I noticed this with my first 6p as well 4 months ago. Never had a issue with galaxy WiFi calling icons appearing .Is this normal? Is there a method to know its working or is it just invisible

What are your APN settings?

Make sure your APN protocol only has the value "ipv6". Perhaps you see this mentioned in a recent post...

Hi, I have 2 S4 i337M,
I updated my 2 phones using Kies last week.
With the first one, everythings working. With the second one, I have a small issue with the data networking icon. When I'm away from home, the data is working great, I only see the LTE icon in the notification bar. When I'm at my home (on the wifi network), I can see the Wifi icon in the notification bar but the LTE icon is still there. I thing that all data is coming from the wifi but I can see the arrows flashing sometime under the LTE icon.
Do someone know how to fix this issue ?
Thanks

The user got_milk told me that the problem was coming from the Bell Press-to-Talk app. Now the app and service are frozen and everything's ok now.
Thanks to you Allen for your reply and thanks to got_milk for the fix !
I cannot get T-Mobile wifi calling to work on the N Preview. Has someone gotten it to work successfully? I took the ota for the Preview.
Edit: It seems to have started working after about an hour. Additionally, it shows emergency calls only (I'm in an area with no service)/at times.

So I recently upgraded from my Nexus 6 to the 6P. Fantastic upgrade, except that there seems to be the issue I mentioned in this thread title.
Whenever I'm on LTE my MMS messages / group messages come in just fine. But whenever I'm connected to WiFi -- either at home or at work -- I'll get the blinking LED notification that I've received an MMS message and sometimes see the "Message is Downloading" placeholder, only it won't ever download. I physically have to disconnect from Wifi, and then the message will roll in a few moments later.
A few specs to hopefully help out: - T-Mobile user, phone is stock but unlocked/rooted. I've flashed a different kernel (Franco) but that's it. I live in Los Angeles, and this wasn't an issue with the old N6, but first made it's ugly appearance on the 6P. Wi-Fi calling is always on and preferred. I can literally pop my SIM out and into the old phone, and the MMS will send/receive just fine. It appears to be a 6P problem. I've tried disabling WiFi Calling but it doesn't resolve the issue.
ADDED NOTE: I primarily use Messenger, but I switched to Hangouts to see if it rectified the problem. Same problem persisted. Same with Textra.
I've had experience with flashing other ROMS/radios on the old N6. I'm hesitant to change to a different ROM because I'm pretty happy with how the phone is working with stock, and everything I change can basically be done with Nova Launcher.
I've downloaded the older radio files, and was ready to attempt flashing one of those, but it's very different with this new TWRP 3.00+ and different partitions. My confidence with that has vanished with the new 6.01 partition stuff. If this is a potential fix, any help in that area would be appreciated.
I've also changed and fiddled with the APN settings, hoping the change might improve the MMS issue. It hasn't. I'm using the suggested T-Mobile APN settings that pop up when searching for this issue.
I've been debating switching to Project Fi, but with the absolute reliance on WiFi this hiccup has given me a bit of pause regarding that switch. Specifically because it happens on my home Wifi in Culver City, then the business Wifi in Downtown Los Angeles, across both 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi bands.
Just looking for any help or suggestions. Thanks!

It's been this way for me for as long as I've owned an Android device. MMS has never worked over wifi for me....I've owned a Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 as well as some HTC and Samsung devices (quite a few). The only device I've ever owned that it worked on is my Mi Note Pro. Even then, it seems to toggle on mobile data and give it priority over wifi until the message is downloaded. I know this isn't a solution, but just letting you know that this is pretty common.
I've used sprint in the past but am now on T-Mobile

Yes MMS inherently built to use only mobile data.
However SMS applications have setting along the line: enable data when dealing with MMS.
For e.g.
That's what I mean by not being able to send/receive MMS on WiFi.
What messaging app is that?

I think that's a T-mobile issue. I used to get it all the time.
We just switched from Sprint to Verizon with 3 HTC 10 phones and tried video calls over Hangouts and have been having problems. When we do video calls over WiFi it works fine. Over the Verizon network we get a "check network connectivity" error. I've tried it between phones with full 4G signal in various locations in town, same error each time. Is there some issue with hangouts after switching carriers? Some setting I'm forgetting on the phone? I've allowed the permissions on all phones.
Can anyone who is on Verizon try a Hangouts video call over mobile network and see if they have the same problem? Make sure you're on mobile network, not Wi-Fi. I'm trying to see if this is a bug with the HTC 10 or with Verizon

Thought I would post an update: I tried to make a video call using Facebook Messenger app as well and it also failed over mobile network and worked fine on WiFi. I can't figure what is causing video calls to fail over the mobile network and why it's causing the data connection to drop. If anyone else is having this problem please post and let me know if you fixed it. We have 3 HTC 10's all with the same issue.

I know you're Verizon, but just thought I'd chime in that I have no problems with video calling on AT&T.

Did you root the device? Do you have afwall+ installed?

Verizon had me reset my phone to see if starting from scratch with no installed apps solved the issue, but it had no effect. The problem persists.
I did the same thing, and it's not working. Stock, non root.

I've moved up the ladder with HTC engineers who are trying to determine if it's a software problem with the HTC 10 or with Verizon's apps or possibly an issue with Hangouts and Facebook Messenger. I find it hard to believe both apps are somehow not working right on all 3 of our HTC 10 phones. It's kind of strange that both these apps kick all of us off our 4g network as soon as initiating a video call. I hope more HTC 10 owners can try a video call using Hangouts over the Mobile network (not WiFi) and see if they have the same problem as I do with the Mobile Data connection being dropped as soon as you try a video call.
Unlocked version here and hangouts video call worked on 4G LTE

I've been in contact with HTC engineers over this issue, and they called back again today to let me know others have reported the same problem and a fix is being worked on. They hope to have it pushed out with the next software update.
I'm on Verizon and mine isn't working on mobile data.
I just switched to Verizon and I can't make video or voice calls from hangouts over mobile network, only over wifi.

I just had an update for my Hangouts app and I tried a video call afterwards and it worked fine using the 4G network. Hopefully this issue is now solved.
