[SOLVED] Bricked phone, need a stock PF4 tar file - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all!
I've had a family member brick their Verizon S5 because they thought they were being smart and now I've been given the task of fixing it. The S5 was on the stock PF4 build previously (no root and no unlocked bootloader) and then had the stock OC4 tar from SamMobile flashed onto it via Odin which obviously bricked it. Furthermore they flashed the PD1 stock tar on top of that thinking that being on the same Android version would fix the problem so right now I have a phone with PD1 firmware but a PF4 bootloader. The phone currently will boot to the setup menu but has a continuous stream of error messages that makes the phone unusable (if I were able to get it into MTP transfer mode I could potentially have Kies 3 fix this).
Unfortunately, SamMobile doesn't have the PF4 tar file online yet and I don't have a spare Verizon S5 to exploit Kies with to get the tar file (I was able to get an encrypted version of the PF4 build using Kies 3's feature that pre-downloads the most recent firmware automatically but it lacks any file extensions and I've no clue how to make it usable).
I know that people have access to the stock components of PF4 like flashable tars for the modem and bootloader and even a flashable zip for custom recoveries of the entire stock PF4 build so I was wondering if anyone could help me out with getting a stock PF4 tar file (if not I will just have to wait till SamMobile puts up the file).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Edit: Found the firmware via Samsung-Updates and fixed the phone so help no longer needed

[Solved] Cannot recover MJA system image

Hello,
This is will be my first XDA post ever since I always fix the most "brickiest" problems with all the Android based devices I have ever owned but not this time.
My Galaxy S4 has been updated to the latest MJA OTA (with successful CF root) and I have attempted to re-mod the hotspot service but this caused the annoying knox message to show. When attempting to restore the JAR and ODEX files, I think I have either overwritten the files in the incorrect order (ODEX -> JAR) and the phone rebooted as FX was trying to do that. So services.odex got corrupted and it was time for my to ODIN flash the MDC full stock rom as that USED to be my solution until Samsung's brand new knox protected bootloader. ODIN is not an option for me now, since the bootloader will prevent me flashing things like the pit, aboot and probably most of the other files inside the tarball. I can flash custom recovery and the MDC kernel successfully and that's about it. With custom recovery I have flashed rooted MF8 for the base operating system, and they applied the rooted MJA rom on top. The phone shows the S4 branding but then it reboots; It cannot boot into the operating system. I do not know the condition of the flash counter atm since I cannot check that in TriangleAway but it will stay "Official" under download mode, I think. I also do not know the versions of the firmware installed either in case something from MDC tar had an succession in replace some of the partitions. I am pretty sure the kernel however is still at MDC while I managed to install the system image of the MJA stock rom.
So my question is, what can I do bring back the working MJA stock rom image (/system and kernel) using TWRP recovery? Else I will have to go to Sprint and saying that the update from OTA has bricked my phone and that I have no idea how phones work.
Thank you.

Sorry, I forgot to add that I know that once you have MJA flashed, you cannot downgrade back unless of course someone figured out how to disable all the bootloader security but I really do not see that happening.
Fixed my own problem. Downloaded the official MJA stock tar.md5 rom from sammobile and flashed it, and managed to restore all my data using Titanium backup. This thread can be now closed.

[Q] Most Current Stock Version

I;ve been having some issues with my phone and I relized that I was on a leaked version of 4.3. Could someone let me know if this is the most current stock version of android for the sprint s4
SPH-L720_MF9_Stock_Factory_Restore(compressed archive).exe
http://www.rwilco12.com/downloads.p...PH-L720)/Stock ROMs/MF9/Full Restore/Unrooted
If so can I just use odin and flash this back onto the phone and ill be current or shall i say sprint current?
MK2 is the latest.
You could grab the MK2 .tar from here (the tar.md5 is in the zip, just extract the .tar.md5 and put that one file in the PDA slot of Odin) and flash it via Odin.
It'll reset everything (all partitions and modem etc.)
Then root via CF-Autoroot (it's in the dev section), add recovery using GooManager and then do what ever you want.

Bootloader and modem update - Odin VS Twrp

Hi guys, to my understanding BL/CP are available in tar or zip formats and may be updated via Odin or Twrp respectively. Appreciate any advice as to differences (if any) between the two methods. TIA
The only difference is that one (.zip) can be flashed via TWRP (this would mean you have a custom rom and a tripped Knox counter). The other (.tar) is signed by Samsung and can be flashed via Odin without tripping Knox.

I reckon this probably means it doesn't matter to flash with twrp or odin if knox is already 0x1.

Correct. I find it easier to flash in TWRP because it's simpler to stay where I am and download the file, reboot to recovery and flash. Rather than going upstairs to my computer, downloading the file, putting phone in Download mode, opening Odin and loading the files, then connecting the phone to the computer then flashing the files.

True that. I only ever return to Odin to flash official firmware in the event of soft bricks with denied access to Twrp, however, was getting confused partly due to written instructions for roms requiring BL/CP to be flashed in download mode. Thanks for clearing this up. Cheers.
my current booloader is version 1...can anybody tell me how can update it to version 4? i am using s7 edge SC02H(snapdragon) japan.
thanks
Looking for the right modem and bootloader files
Hello,
I'm running Nougat on my s7 g930f it's using the tgp rom. In preparation for an oreo upgrade I atempted to flash an odin-zip file I found on LightRom's page, thinking it would give me a modem update. This was an extremely bad idea. Now my system does still boot, but I have no signal at all, my phone number, base band, IMEI, mobile network, etc all show as unknown under settings, about phone and the various status checks. Now when I atempt to go in to odin again to flash another modem update now I'm told that the atempt has failed. I'd appreciate some help. What file do I need to get the bl and the cp file? I'm running twrp 3.2.3, and i'd like my signal back.
Thanks.
Dave.

[Firmware] G950UOYN2BQK5

This is the latest OTA Update for all major carriers. THIS WILL UPDATE YOUR BOOTLOADER SO THERE IS NO GOING BACK! I'm downloading, uploading to my Google Drive and posting this here as reference.
And of course, after flashing this in Odin you can go to https://samsung.firmware.science and chose QK5 to whichever Oreo Beta is latest or you can enjoy having the latest flashable update.

Uploaded. I already removed the .md5 off the end of the files, just extract and flash away
How do you go about flashing this? Flashing my S5 there was only one file and you loaded that into the AP slot in Odin. With the S8 software it looks like there are 5 separate files. Do you only flash the AP file or all of them? Also, I tried another firmware that was supposed to be Verizon firmwareand had some cricket and metropcs apps installed. Will this be the Verizon firmware that came with the phone from the factory or is it like the other firmware I downloaded and installed from Sammobile? Thanks for any help on this. Trying to get my phone back to how it was when I took it out of the box.

Flashing stock firmware with TWRP?

Hey guys, I was wondering if there is a way to flash stock firmware for the s6 tab lite without a computer? I don't have access to mine at the moment, and my tablet currently has lineageOS with root and twrp on it. The firmware that I downloaded seems to only be compatible with Odin, any insight would be greatly appreciated!
With TWRP you can only flash a Customrom.
Have you create a Backup oft the Stockrom before you flashed the Customrom ?
If yes , so you can restore this.

According to Magendaz, one can flash kernel, firmware, and custom ROM with TWRP.
I realize I didn't read the thread correctly, I apologize. My post is for using odin
-------
I wanted to root the device, but changed my mind after learning you can't be in stock firmware and have twrp/root at the same time (please correct me on this since I was having trouble trying to root my device via TWRP since I was stuck on recovery when trying to boot into system with bootloader and OEM Unlocking enabled; I assume I bricked the tablet somehow).
If you haven't created a backup like I did, you have to use ODIN to flash to the stock firmware. Here's how I got it done:
Download the firmware via: https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-P610/XAR/P610XXU2BTK2 or whichever website has the stock firmware
Look into the region code (CSC) your device has. XAR is the firmware region for the United States. I wasn't able to tell which region code I had since I correctly guessed
Insert the first 3 files to ODIN (AP, BL, CSC) and Start

I was a bit worried that there is no CL file at first but I assume that's only for LTE (

Hope this helps
