Restored TWRP / Safestrap Backup...... Getting "Unfortunatly, MTP Application ha.."
Hey everyone.
So I wanted to see what going back to KitKat was like, so I followed this guide.
Before doing ANYTHING, I made a Backup with Safestrap of my current setup (Rooted Stock Debloated Deodexed 5.0 PB1)
After finishing up on KitKat (a lot of things didn't work on KK :/ ) I booted into Safestrap and Restored the Backup I previously made.
Once it reboot, it hangs on the Verizon Logo for 2-3 minutes, then I get a black screen with "Unfortunatly MTP Application has stopped"
I really don't want to have to start over.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Ok so first off I was successful in rooting the phone, installing twrp rec., flashing loki files, and then flashing wicked rom with ktweaker tw kernel. I made a backup of the stock rooted rom before wicked was flashed. Then my troubles started when I wanted to go back to my stock backup. The rom booted but has serious issues like black screen with only status bar working and then eventually freezing. I also made a backup of a working wicked and tried restoring that but then I just get stuck in boot loop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
what twrp version
did you wipe all before restoring
you could try to install Phils cwm recovery, folks say it works great and will restore twrp backups also

Follow full wipe procedures, have the same recovery you made the backup with, and try again.

I flashed the stock firm. Soft brick averted. Did the same goo manager recovery method, but now i'm thinking of flashing that cwm as ppl have reported the same nandroid backup issues with twrp. My version is 2.5.0.2. I will keep trying to get twrp for a while with others users till i get sick of it (semi twrp fan). Any further advice would be cool. Oh and I did a factory twrp wipe the first time this problem occurred.
I wipe data caches and system before flashing. No more advice. Had newest TWRP hang on Team Win screen. Several manual reboots into recovery till it worked. Maybe I better do restore to see if it works.

Hi everyone this is my first post, if there is a better place for this in the forum lmk.
My device is a
Samsung Galaxy S4 on Ting which is a Sprint MVNO
SPH-L720 on 4.3 JB
I have gotten myself into a Boot Loop last night trying to restore from backup after "successfully" flashing CyanogenMod custom ROM. The reason I wanted to go back to stock was because none of my data was part of the ROM. This was my first time rooting and flashing a rom and I need help to get back to stock with or without my backup. These are the steps I took to get myself where I am at. I can't post links, I used the videos from qbking77 to do all this.
I used odin on windows to root [Qbking77 on youtube]
I also used GooManager on playstore for TWRP Recovery [Qbking on youtube]
I then used TWRP to create a backup.
I used the GooManager app to DL a cyanogen ROM and a Gapps package.
I installed the 2 zips using TWRP and wiped before I did. The flash works and the ROM works but I want to go back to stock and possibly unroot. I can access download recovery and TWRP but when I try to restore my backup it gets stuck into the samsung booting screen.
I didn't disable KNOX with the SU permission, do I boot up cym again to disable it ?
Does a Restore from backup using TWRP take a couple hours and should I not interrupt the samsung boot screen ?
I only have 800mb space on internal, how do I clear up space for the firmware flash through odin in download recov [QBking77 on youtube]
Thank you for reading, I really need the help
I have an empty sd card in there but how should I clear space for manually installing 4.3 JB when my internal has only 800mb.
I got it back to stock with a 4.3 JB firmware install with an odin v1.85, still can't put up links. I might leave this up for archive and I don't expect to be back on here for a while.
I debugged until my fingernail bled, no lie.
While in the process of restoring a backup on my rooted Galaxy s5 I wiped everything and forgot to install a rom in safestrap. now I cannot get the safestrap splash screen to load up again to install a rom. Is there a way to side boot a rom or just reset the whole device and get me back to normal?? thanks and please help!
This can be closed. I just flash a stock tar in Odin and everything looks good.
EDIT: Well it's not solved, but in the process of trying to fix it I soft-bricked it so I forced myself to have to tot back to 4.2.2 using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2687768 . Now I'm simply trying to get it to OTA back to D80020y (on Cricket... using a prepaid AT&T sim to try and force an OTA... no luck).
I'm sure I'll end up facepalming as I've gotta be missing something simple.
I was running stock D80020y, rooted with a few exposed tweaks - nothing major. I flashed TWRP using Autorec, did a full "nandroid", then proceeded to install Blisspop 3.3 by doing the following steps:
A full wipe
Flashing LP_30d loki'd bootstack (my hunch is this is the problem)
Flashing the rom + gapps
I had lots of issues with it not recognizing my sim card and acting as if I had no service, despite the APN settings looking accurate. So I got back into recovery (had to install/run autorec again as I couldn't get into it from the rom), restored my EFS just in case, then did a full wipe and restored the nandroid - all of it.
The first time it booted up, it went through the update of every app and just hung on "starting apps". I let it go for a good 10 minutes before rebooting and it just hung at the logo prior to full boot. I got back into recovery and restored again, but no luck - it just hangs every time.
Is the bootstack my problem? I REALLY don't want to have to flash back to stock via kdz or tot as I'm on cricket and won't be able to OTA back to D80020y. Any input is appreciated!
Hi All,
Just wondering what's going on with my phone - it's a Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910G with Optus Australia.
Here's the situation:
I rooted my phone using Chainfire method from 5.1.1 Optus firmware.
Then, I installed TWRP, backed up all partitions (INCLUDING EFS).
After that, installed Cyanogenmod. Holy damn, I need to go back to stock...
so...
I booted back into TWRP
I reset phone as usually would to restore/install ROM.
I restored firmware backup in TWRP.
Reboot to system
-- BOOTLOOP --
happens every time i try to restore, and the only way I can use my phone right now is to reflash Cyanogenmod 12.1 nightlies onto it - which have problems (such as I cannot reboot with CM12.1 because if I do after installing it, the phone app breaks and I cannot get past anything because of toast message "com.android.phone" has stopped..., so then only way to get it to work again is to reflash CM12.1 again - this happens about twice daily...)
-- -- PLEASE HELP!
What happens to TWRP backups that mean i cannot restore my stock backup without it bootlooping? and why can devs not post a clean stock flashable ZIP copy of stock firmwares? Its great having all these mods, but how about something that doesn't require umpteen thousand bloody applications to reflash your phone with? Whatever happened to a simple ZIP? when I see ZIPs, devs see thanks buttons being pushed!
-- THANKS

This http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/help/n910c-to-stock-rom-cm13-t3321132 :good:
One possible solution is to flash the appropriate stock rom via odin. After booting, install twrp and root your phone. After this you can restore your previously saved stock rom via twrp.

Sorry no help from me but I have a similar problem. At some point mine quit booting to TWRP and I got a huge OTA update a few days ago and every time I try to boot into recovery it ends up in Stock Recovery only after going to little android saying installing updates(it fails & eventually goes to stock recovery.) I did a reset and still have 5.1.1 installed and still have the same behavior.
I have the professional version of the unified toolkit and it says if it is still booting into stock recovery select options 7, 3 which I did but it didn't fix the problem. I think what's getting me is it thinks there are still system updates to install.
