Hello all,
Totally new to Android, got the GS7 Edge 2 mo ago. In the past few weeks, I've had some crashes and resets. I think they've occurred when I've hit the Recents capacitive key. (Not rooted, just updated to the most recent 7/27/16 AT&T s/w update; only apps from the Google Store)
What's bugging me is that I can't seem to find a crash log app that I could use to see what was running when the resets occurred. I know I had an app on the iphone that would allow it: can anyone suggest similar for Android? (please note I'm slightly savvy, but I'm not a programmer or developer)
Thank you!
anyone?
anyone with any suggestions?

Guys, Ive seen the other posts, about this issue, and want to know a few things.
First off I am new here, and new to phone programming and general security issues on them as well. So if I jack this up, my bad.
I have a Galaxy Note 2 AT&T SGH-I317 stock (not rooted)
Its running
android 4.1.2 kernel vers 3.0.31
build JZO54K.I317UCAMC3
(before you start with check the other posts, I have tried the reset "power, home and volume button" and chose number 4 to clear all partition cache, also ran in safe mode to see if it was a downloaded app, still didn't work) I also want to know what is causing it, before I do the "applications manager reset all apps" Got a lot of custom settings and items blocked. Don't want to redo all of it.
So as of last night I was disabling some running process in the application manager. I did it by checking on them before. But, its not like I had the OFFICIAL Droid guide to disabling stuff on your Note2. That being said I take care to do it the best I can. Before I disabled each one, I cleared the cache of each one (if it was a option) and unchecked Show notifications. Force stopped them, and disabled each one.
Starting around 2pm CST the next day, my phone started to lock up, messenger will not work, phone app crashes after every call. But I was using it all morning on twitter, and instagram with no issues. And various other will not load etc. What could cause this? and is there a official list of applications for note2 with what they do and what they control.
Short list of disabled applications from last night are
Market Feedback Agent
LogsProvider
Google Play services, and Play store.
Google Partner Setup
DRM Protected Content Storage
DioDict3services (not sure about this one)
com.google.andriod.voicesearch
com.android.providers.partnerbookmarks
Search Applications Provider, (found on android.forms to be ok to disabled)
TopicWall
Thank y'all in advanced.

Hello..i have a samsung note 3..And i feel that someone else has been accessing my emails some how..Can anyone tell me what partner set up is, and why half my emails end up in an endless loop,or say Bad Request..Thanks Donna

BAD REQUEST

You can always factory reset to out of the box state.
I have the Verizon model, and the following things happen on occasion with the App Switcher/Recent Apps (normally gotten to by long-pressing the Home softkey):
1. The Recent Apps screen does not appear at all.
2. If the Recent Apps screen does appear, it does not have all the apps listed that I know are open.
Anyone else experiencing this strange behavior? This has been this way since I got the device the day after it was released, and obviously was not resolved in the first OTA.
FYI: A reboot does not fix it.
If anyone out there has any ideas how to fix it, I'm all ears.
Thanks!
Hi I've got this problem since the very beginning after I have purchased my note 4. Well basically all the default applications keep resetting themselves so every couple of days when I choose link,it keeps asking me which browser I want to use. Which application I want to use for videos, for youtube etc.
This is not caused by installing new apps.
Anyone had this problem?

Same with my Note 4
Same here, any solution?
Seems ever since i update my s7 to nougat, and now have nougat on my s8, i'm dealing apps constantly crashing on a daily basis. Apps that never crashed before, ever, are constantly crashing on nougat. And by no means is this a samsung thing, because my friends sony z5 also has similar issues with nougat, what did google do that is causing these apps to crash?
I haven't had a single crash so far.
Not one crash either. You must have a rogue app. System reset.

No crashes at all.
Did you transfer programs, data from your old phone to new one using something like Titanium backup or smart switch? I read a lot of complains about stability issues from people doing that. Or like someone already said, some app creating issue, but not that easy to find which one.

Yes but i've reinstalled the problematic apps, same apps crashed on the s7. I mean it could be the app but they never crashed on android 6, and since nougat has been available to devs since march 2016 i'd imagine they'd fix any compatibility issues by now.
No crashes watsoever on niether my nougat s7 or s8.
I think you have limited options here: either reset the phone and reload all apps fresh from play store, or try to identify what causes the problem and there are few ways to do it. For the record my phone never crashed and I have it since day 1, but I did have couple apps that should be working, installed fine and crash the moment they start.
I had to factory reset out of the box after my first update. It sucked and was a bad first impressikn but it has been working ever since and I've had it for a week.

I used Helium on my S8 coming from S7 as Smart Switch was not importing my apps settings.
Backup went well, but I have some apps that force closes some time.
The funny thing is that I have force closes not on those apps where importing data was for me mandatory (like games or note apps), but on standard apps where I could even install them from Play Store.
I made backup of everything for simplicity, just for not having to insert all the logins and passwords for all my apps.....
I still can't understand why Smart Switch failed to import my data when I was coming from Samsung S7 with Nougat update, so if someone maybe knows why, please tell me...but as far as I've read, I haven't noticed big complain and force closes after importing with Smart Switch... Maybe they where importing from a non Nougat Samsung.....
In my actual case, resetting device would be a real problem as I have a lot of apps and reinstalling them would mean to lose an entire day in doing the job.
If someone knows how to fix things, maybe cleaning things up or so, please reply.
If there's no solution, I think I'll do only a data backup with Helium and then go through reset and consequent Play Store install of all apps list previously saved on AppBrain so to have the complete list already set...but it's still a huge work!!

2 s8's here and neither have crashed once yet. Do a factory reset, and install all your apps manually from the play store and be done with crashes.

Your crash seems to be isolated to one app. An app that I wouldn't be too surprised is crashing. The OP on the other hand post would seem to suggest he's expierencing crashes from multiple apps.
Hello
Recently i started having issues in my banking app, it wont let me login - i pinpointed the issue to "failed to load generated key pair from keystore"(adb logs)
Ofc the first thing that i did was a google search and i saw that quite a few people have similar issues on various app on the OP2, after the search i contacted their(apps) support and they soon enough asked for a screenshot of the "android version screen".. from there they figured out it was a custom rom so they just "sorry we don't support custom ROMS"..
So far i tried two 8.1 roms, Pixel experience and RR.. no luck so far..
Did anyone have some similar issues? What was the solution?

I'm still struggling with this (for months). Would love to know if you find a working ROM.
