I just bought a Samsung Note 4 SM-N910S. I thought is with Snapdragon, but CPU-Z says it's with Exynos5433. Which custom ROM should I use and what recovery mode?
I've searched for Samsung drivers, but couldn't find any that work.
Android version is 6.01.
Help?
Well, I found my own answer regarding Samsung Android drivers. The only version that works is 1.5.30.
Now I'll install TWRP 3.0.2.0 and then I'll try MIUI 7.

TWRP 3.0.2.0 failed to install, even though Odin said „PASS!”, so I installed PhilZ. Then I installed MIUI 7 and eRobot, but on start both gave the same error: Kernel not being SEenforced.
Now I'm searching for a kernel that is SEenforced.
I'm downloading Sweet ROM 17.1 with kernel SE enforced....
Well, my hopes that 910C ROMs will work with 910S Exynos variant were shattered. So, I'm back to stock ROM 6.0.1. I will root it and remove KNOX (I don't care about warranty anyway) and try to remove as much bloatware as possible. I wish I knew how to build a custom ROM...
I've installed 6.0.1 using Odin 3.x. Next comes root!
I wish there was a custom ROM for SM-N910S...
The ROM from SK Telekom sux!!! I've rooted the phone and tried to remove all the bloatware, but I was unsuccessful, resulting into unusable ROM.
I've found a tutorial to install a debloated stock ROM from SM-N910C based on android 5.1.1 which is a much better option than the original ROM. Not to mention the permission levels for 6.0.1 are messed up really bad, imho.

Just a friendly reminder : make a full backup before installing any ROM.
I think.....if you have modem file of 910S, you can try to flash custom ROM for 910C/H and the flashed your modem, and maybe it will work.
I'm on 910H, and that is the trick that we use to flash 910C ROM.
but please explore xda some more, maybe someone already tried it and succeed/failed.
@cacingbesar: I don't care about backups on phones, because I don't have any important data on them. The only thing I backup is the contact list.
Moving on with my saga...
I was thinking that maybe there's a way of converting my SM-N910S to SM-N910C, because at HW they are basically the same so I've started searching the net and found an interesting video on youtube on an indian guy who did just that on 5.1.1.
So, I followed his tutorial and installed his ROM which is debloated, de-knoxed and rooted which I very much prefer over the crappy SK ROM.
I've learned the trick of this is to use SM-N910C ROM, but flash the modem from SM-N910S. I wish I knew how to extract the modem from the stock SM-N910S and to inject it into custom ROMs.
Even though SM-N910S and SM-N910C are HW identical, a custom ROM made for SM-N910C doesn't work on SM-N910S. Why is that? I have no idea...

You can find some thread about how to extract modem from a stock rom. Or google it.
No....I'm not worrying your data, I worry that you lost your efs/imei, that would cost you dearly.
I'm using CWM as recovery and I don't think it's messing up with EFS/IMEI, nor does Odin3 as long as I don't tick the boxes I don't need.
Later Edit: this ROM is AMAZING!!!

The last time i flashed a rom was about 6 months ago and the last time i had to get my hands dirty in a root and recovery process was even longer, probably as much as 2 years back with my old S2.
With this in mind i was hoping for a little guidance on a couple of things.
1) I'm not too concerned with triggering knox that i heard could be a problem in the early days for the note 3 as it's nearly 2 years old but I'd prefer not to, what is the best way and the best order to root, flash recovery and then flash a rom?
2)i know there isn't much love for people asking what is the best rom but what i would like to have is a stable rom even if it isn't the most recent and i do like touchwiz. However i do like the idea of extra features and tweaks. So, are there roms around that meet these requirements?
Cheers guys.
There are ROMs.. but Xposed is still not stable for Lollipop Samsung phones...
I'm not a fan of Touchwiz either but Lollipop Touchwiz is awesome (coming from a CM Fan)
Also ROMs like AryaMod are promising
cheers mate.
any other advice for the rooting and recovery processes from anyone?
You are not out for long enough to forget stuffs Welcome back anyway.
Rooting can't be more easy. Just flash any custom recovery (TWRP/ Philz), and flash the SuperSU zip package which can be found in Chainfire's website from it, https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
Done, you are rooted.
And for stable ROMs, well some are out there, but my favourite is AryaMod. It is based on stock TW ROM and comes with lots of customisations. If you are looking for purely stock based ROMs then just download those cooked ROMs by Alexandar (pardon if the spelling is wrong), they are as close to stock as you will get. And I don't like S6 based ROMs, I have a Note 3 and I want it as a Note 3, but there are few out there which will give you some S6 features. But the ones I mentioned are purely Note 3 based, you won't find any other phones' feature in them

1. I triggered Knox ages back so haven't kept up on things but if you flash a custom recovery, AFAIK you WILL trigger it. There are ways to flash custom ROMs etc without triggering Knox but I think you have to flash a pre-rooted ROM. Do some reading around - I've seen a number of threads about it.
2. I am currently on Temasek's CM12.1 ROM and have been for some time. I occasionally try others but have always come back to his - it's everything I like. Even on stock though, I run Nova launcher. For a stock-based ROM I'd recommend Sparx's Alliance ROM - I used it for months and it is easily the most configurable ROM I have seen - you don't need Xposed or other app to mod things, it's all built in.
You'd be surprised how much i could forget haha
So, would it be - 1) root (which method and how?) 2) flash recovery (which one and how?) 3) if I'm to use arya rom it says I'd need a stock lollipop installed first so would i do this before the root and recovery (again which one and how?)
Thanks guys for advice and patience.

1,2- Root: Simple as I said before. Just head over to Development section and find TWRP recovery. Flash that via Odin. Then go to Chainfire's website, to download the SuperSU zip package, 2.46 I believe is the latest version. Have that zip package copied to your internal or external memory, enter Recovery (I am sure you remember Vol Up + Power button combo will help you to enter recovery) and flash that SuperSU zip file. Just reboot the phone and you are now rooted.
3- Yes, you will be needing to flash a stock Lollipop ROM to be able to use Arya. I am not sure but I think its because of the bootloader. If you want to flash a stock ROM, just head over to sammobile.com and download any Lollipop ROM you want and flash it via Odin. Then download Arya ROM, it will be a zip package, and install that from TWRP, just like you would flash that SuperSU zip for rooting.

Cheers mate, i think I'm nearly there. Flashing the stock lollipop will wipe out root won't it? Do is it best to first flash the stock lollipop, then flash twrp then root then arya?
Lastly, when i looked on sammobile there were many different regions of it. I'm in the uk on an unlocked international model which i believe is btu. I know btu hasn't had it yet so which one is best? I know I'll be flashing arya over it but would like it to be the right one as i might try it out for a few days before flashing arya.

Yep, you got it right, you should flash the stock Lollipop ROM first, then flash TWRP, then root the phone (SuperSU zip package from recovery) and then flash AryaMod. That way you won't have to repeat any steps, cause flashing any stock ROM will restore stock recovery anyway, but I am sure you've already figured that.
About the ROMs on sammobile.com, well I can't really say which one you should download. I once downloaded a German or UK ROM (can't recall really) and it wouldn't flash on my UAE Note 3, someone told me that mine is 32 gigs phone and that ROM was meant for 16 gigs phone, since then I really didn't put much thought about those ROMs anyway, and obviously I had found Arya by then. You can ask in on the UK only topic in general section, they should be able to help you. The ROM from sammobile which worked for my phone was Polish Lollipop ROM, but again, it worked on my phone, so you get the point.
Anyone found a Rom that can run on the Softbank Japanese SM G925Z Model ? 404sc.
Ive searched all over Google, daily, None of them have officially added the g925z version.
If I backup my Rom with TWRP, and try some of these other version roms, can I easily return to my TWRP Backup Stock Rom?
Would it be safe to try any of the other roms posted on this site?
I have a 2 year contract with softbank, so I need a rom that wont lose access to cellular service or wifi connection.
I could live without the fingerprint scanner and the heartrate monitor if Need be.
Third question, most important maybe,
If I do a Backup with TRWP from my Rooted 5.0.2 Stock Rom, can I easy reinstall that backup with TWRP
if I try new 5.0.2 Roms, and the roms have issues? I am not completely sure, because I think you flash the rom with odin, or can you install downloaded roms with TWRP also I assume?
If I try a 5.1.1 rom, I can never return to 5.0.2 roms ? is that also true?
I dont care so much about my knox warrente IF I can swap back to my 5.0.2 Stock rom. at least I know that works.
but I dont want to get stuck with a broken Rom if I can not return easily.

Listen, Dr. Ketan's note 5 port L12 with S6 edge features is based on android 5.1.1 Australian "COH4" baseband version. So first download and install that stock firmware having COH4 baseband version using odin. Here's the link for that: www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/56424/N910GDTU1COH4_N910GXSA1COH4_XSA/
And after installing this, root your phone, then install CWM recovery and install dr. Ketan's L12 version rom which you have downloaded. Your phone will work fine after that.
Baseband version of your phone plays a very important role in determining which rom you can install on your phone. For example if u liked and downloaded a samsung stock modified custom rom that has baseband version say "PQR" and suppose if your phone has baseband version "XYZ" then you cannot install that rom on your phone. To install that rom you will first need to flash the stock rom of PQR baseband version in Odin. To check which baseband version your phone is running, go to (settings >> about phone/device >> baseband version). Look at the last 3 or 4 alphabets.

Downloaded the stock from from sammobile and my phone was able to boot successfully. But the problem is that ever since, I tried flashing twrp recovery to flash dr.ketan rom which did not work. My phone's touch is really not working well. I have enabled touches in developer options and confirm that my s-pen works fine but when I touch the phone, it gets detected 1 cm below where I actually touch. This problem might have been created when I flashed twrp recovery because that was the first time I saw this issue.
Please help how to fix this ?
Hi, I have a N900W8 (Canada) and I am in Lollipop. I am looking for the Marshmallow bootloader & modem for N900W8.
Also, im looking to root my phone other than the cf auto root method. Because after flashing the cf-autoroot for n900w8, my buttons stopped working.

There is no marshmallow bootloader or modem.
You can flash SuperSU from twrp.

And for the supersu, i just need to flash twrp then flash supersu from chainfire website?
Thank you.
There is no MM bootloader and modem because Samsung never released a MM build for the Note 3.
Yes, just flash twrp and Chainfire's supersu.
@audit13 do you know how to get the modem and bootloader from a stock firmware (tar.md5) ?
Not sure if you can extract it from a stock rom but it may be easier to just flash the entire rom in Odin.

Okay, I'll do that. Also, do you know what custom kernel is compatible with stock rom N900W8VLU2DPG1 ?
AFAIK, there is no custom kernel that is compatible with the stock Samsung ROM because the Samsung Note 3 apps require a Samsung kernel.

There is a custom kernel for stock note3 lolipop firmware which is called lean kernel, idel kernel, ater97 kernel and shinto kernel.... Do ur research before saying thinks u don't knw about ok bro.
@jgun007, I said "AFAIK", I never said there wasn't a kernel for the Canadian note 3 sm-n900w8 which is the model referred to in the subject line of this thread and discussed in this thread.
I see that lean kernel is for the n900t (T-mobile note 3) which is not the same model as the Canadian note 3: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2488233
I see idel kernel here but I don't see the Canadian note 3 model listed as being compatible: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...nt/kernel-idlekernel-leankernel-fork-t3241582

I see the thread for the shinto kernel was closed and the last post was in January 2015, about 2 years ago and I didn't see any mention of compatibility with the n900w8: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/help/shinto-kernel-t2895089

Looks like your phone is running the latest stock ROM according to sammobile.com:

Yes, is a stock device. Never rooted. And it's a mess for the 0 in over.
I have all my information but when I'm searching for rooting... I found nothing and no procedure for someone who have a cellular like mine. N900W8VLU2DPG1.
What's wrong with using TWRP recovery ??

Probably nothing, I don't know what is twrp.
You can root using cfautoroot and Odin.
I have a galaxy note 4 exynos n910u (treltexx) with stock rom (6.0) everything works fine so i decided to install custom rom. First it was hard to find the rom for it after i found few i flashed one.
RR with twrp 3.3 after flashing phone was working like usual but when i interted the sim card it did not detect it so i tought it might be the rom what causing it then i flashed the stock with odin and sim was working fine so i flashed lineage same issue again evwn then i tought it was rom but no matter rom i try sim was not getting detected (exept stock) .
Thing i notice was there was no imei number after dialing *#06#*
So i found the new rom Note 7FE edition android 7 i gave it a try same thing no sim detected but this time i was getting IMEI number
Also my phone is N910U and showed Spark nz logo at boot and i'm in india but sim works fine on stock get 4g and everything and also when i install any rom it say N910C ony Note 7FE edition one said N910U
Is there any way to fix this issue
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks in advance

I wrote to you on the telegram channel also - the 910U has a weird modem (Intel) which has issues with the RIL (radio layer interface).
Also the developer has no phone note 4 910U so that he can test it and get logs to see errors.
As for all the peeps with this model - "It is what it is" - deal with it.

I'm not sure if this will work but you have a backup of your stock roms modem partition you could yry dirty flashing it to your custom rom. You could also use a root file manager and copy your stock roms csc files and place the in a flashable .zip and dirty flash that to your custom rom.

Wrong. Only custom rom with root access.

Opps , I mean rooted stock roms. I've noticed conflicts with custom roms if the rom manager has the same settings as GRX.
n910u is trhplte

Your welcome, I was hoping it would have worked
Did you try creating a .zip with your working csc's and flash that in twrp as well?
