I have an apk which I want to install as a system app. I have a rooted device and have used both es file explorer and root explorer to move the apk to the system/app folder but they both say copy failed or operation failed. I have granted r/w permission on the folder as well as the apk. And also have given root permission. What am I doing wrong? I am able to move another app to the system/app without any issues.
Make sure that root permission is granted to es explorer.

Yes I have made sure es explorer has been granted root permission by super su. It works fine for another apk but is not working for 2 of my other apks
Works fine for xmod apk but fails to copy assassin's creed identity apk even though the game is compatible with my device.

copy the .apk file to system/app and reboot ur phone
Kyrillos v4 final:
I tried to install the dlna.apk with Easy Installer (message: not installed). Then I tried to move the apk with File Expert directly into the system/app folder where all other apk where. It did tell me that it is handling this copy but nothing appeared in this folder...
Tried it again with File Manager but he wouldn't let me Paste the file into the folder...
What next? Any ideas?
Thanks
did u enable R\W mode???
good question. I just realized that the folder is still on read-only.
I tried to use terminal emulator and type "chmod 755 ./system/" to change the rights but I got "unable to chmod system. read-only file system"...
So what did I miss?
use the built in switcher in root explorer or other file managers( e-strongs or astro) i know both have r\w toggle
or goto data\app and paste it there
u need to manually change permissions for each folder
So with root explorer I just go to the folder and change the rights into r/w?
If I understood correctly I need to change the rights first in system then in app, right?
Root Explorer rocks
I managed to change the rights (with "Mount R/W") andthis changed the rights also for the subfolders. Then I pasted the dlna.apk file into the app folder. Then I changed the rights back to r/o.
After reboot it took some time to get everything up again, and all my apps where again unsorted on the different screens.
The file is still in the folder but no allshare application in my programs....
So I copied the file into the data/app folder...
Reboot (didn't take a long time) still no app there...
What now?
Maybe someone knows another app from the market which can do the same thing, also for Samsung and other brands?
Thanks
did u get the deodexed apps from JPM rom or any other
& what do u allshare for???
I downloaded the dlna.apk from the internet and tried to install it with easy installer. I'm not sure whether it is from JPM How can I find out?
I want to use allshare with a Samsung TV.
Having flashed Kyrillos ROM.
Was that the question?
try imediashare or samsung remote
free from market
Download system app+framework file from kyrillos rom post n copy dlna file to system/app using root explorer!
does anyone have a signed asus email widget? i tried to install it using root explorer but failed.
Here it is

And also the weatherwidget

Download the file then place it in system/app with Root Explorer (or whatever file explorer program you use)
So I'm taking it that you can't just install these as with other sideloaded apps?
hurmm i manage to copy it to system/app but then i cant install it it say application not installed =/ i set my root explorer to R/W already and i changed the permission of the apps.
I'm trying to insert a hosts file into the etc folder to replace the one currently in it, but it says I do not have permission to go through with the overwrite of the new file over the old one. I use SuperUser and can't seem to figure out how to grant ASTRO File Manager access. Can anyone shed some light on this situation?

Try using a different file explorer, one that is specifically a root file explorer.
I don't believe that ASTRO can access Anything requiring root permissions.

Yes root explorer will be the easiest way unless you know how to do it with adb.
So I rooted by Galaxy S5 SM-G900V running 4.4.4. (please be specific, Im new to this). My device is ALREADY rooted and 100% confirmed, as I used root checker.
And now everytime I open gallery or do certain things, It tells me "Unfortunately, Context Service has stopped working."
I read on a thread you can Rename or replace the ContextService.apk file located under /system/priv-app to fix it, So where do I get a non corrupt copy? And how do I access the /system/priv-app area? Connect to a pc?
Also, wouldnt replacing with a non corrupt version be more important that renaming it and no longer working? Do we not need it?
update
So I downloaded Root Explorer app to find that "/system/priv-app area" and nothing. I can not find any "system" file or Priv-app area.
Thanks
You need to root your device. For file explorer try ES File Explorer for root browsing.
already rooted

My Device IS rooted already.
Ok, I am rooted on a stock rom. I cannot get access to edit anything in the system/app folders. Of course, cannot get Adaway to work properly because of this. Other root apps work just fine. Ideas/
Thanks

What file manager are you using? I am having trouble with se file explorer to complete root actions, however total commander works fine if you mount the system folder as RW
Hmm root works just fine for me with ad away. i even used es file explorer to get to system part and add stuff to the ringtones directory so i dont have to have them show up in my media players. I am using the 2.52 beta root.
