Xposed Causing Overlay Detected Bug? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys...so i seem to have this bug whenever i install the xposed framework v86 sdk23 arm 64. everything works fine with the exception of allowing me to grant apps permissions in the settings. when i try to, i get a screen overlay detected error. i dont have twilight or a file manager installed. i know for sure its caused by xposed, because i've flashed 3 times today alone and am running stock rooted/debloated. everything works fine until i flash xposed, and if i flash the uninstaller, everything goes back to running as it should. has anyone ever experienced this? thanks in advance everyone.

answer found (http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...y-detected-switched-off-t3425248#post67958599). I was searching for a few days, and this was posted yesterday, so please dont yell at me guys lol

Root issues

I'm on 6.0.1 and installed systemless root + busybox + TWRP recovery through the skipsoft tool.
Everything was working fine for a day or two.
I then wanted Xposed. So I installed xposed v79 arm64 and at first everything worked ok. Added gravitybox mm and started fiddling. Shortly root issues followed. Tasker somehow didn't acquire root, that's how I first noticed it. Nor did the "hibernate + lock" command in Greenify work which also requires root. Wondering wth is going on I went into supersu and it said the su binary cannot be found. No wonder root apps didn't work properly. Gravitybox still worked however but I assume this works at a lower level.
Everything worked fine until I got to the xposed part. Not sure if it was xposed or gravitybox that did it. Why is this happening and what can I do? I uninstalled gravitybox and now I have root again though supersu was VERY VERY slow in getting the list of root apps up in a way it never was before. Took minutes, but it did work and root apps function again. Other issues happened to: calculator fc for example.
Would I be better off with traditional root or what's up? I do have backups from before installing xposed thank god, so I'm not sitting in the **** here, but I'd sure like this all to work together.

This is just a long shot but if you have BusyBox install in su/bin try installing it into system/xbin and reboot. good luck.

yeah, I had some other apps that had some issues with BusyBox installed into su/bin but after reinstalling BB into system/xbin fixed it for me.

Oh, well not my issue then since they have been there all along it seems very sketchy too. It's as if it sometimes work at boot, sometimes not. Very weird. I don't know what it is but it must be some kind of combination.
Further analysis: some reboots it works, some it doesn't. Random weirdness surrounding root apps and also none-root apps. Calculator sometimes FC's and it seems all this is coming and going. Worse when Gravitybox is activated. I still have no clue what this is or what to do.

Xposed Marshmallow Help?

I have extensively searched the forums here for a solution, and haven't been able to find one. If someone knows how to fix this, or can try to help me, I would really appreciate it. I just updated my phone to Marshmallow, and everything is running great. I have SuperSU up and running, and TWRP installed. Everytime I try to install Xposed, my phone boots up, but once the boot finishes it just hangs on a black screen forever. The only way to get the device to boot is by flashing the Xposed uninstaller. I have tried disabling all of my Xposed modules in hopes that would fix the problem, but it did not. I am trying to flash the xposed-v79-sdk23-arm64.zip by the way. Does anyone know of a solution to this? Should I try to find and flash version 78? I've seen a bunch of people having no issues installing Xposed on Marshmallow, so I assume I am doing something wrong. I tried redownloading the file a few times too.
Thank you very much in advance for trying to assist me!! Happy Holidays everyone!
after flashing xposed, do you wipe both caches?. You also can try to install xposed application (apk) first and later flash xposed from twrp.

Thanks for your response. I tried wiping both caches before and after installing Xposed. I also tried it once with only wiping cache after. Each time, I already had the Xposed apk downloaded because I had Xposed up and running on Lollipop.
I'm running "xposed-v78-sdk23-arm64.zip" without issue on my MXPE on MM.

Just tried that version. Same issue, boot animation finishes, then it's just a black screen forever. I'm going to try uninstalling the Xposed app and then installing the framework and see if that works.
Just for kicks, I uninstalled xposed v78 and installed "xposed-v79-sdk23-arm64.zip". It's working great on my phone.
I would try again. Do a hard power down during the hang at the black screen (hold power button down for 10-20 seconds?) and reboot to see if that fixes thing.
Edit: I should note, I cleared all the cache (including Davlik) before and after the install of xposed.

Just wanted to let you know I got it to work. I had to uninstall the Xposed app, uninstall the framework, and then reinstall the framework and reinstall the app. I had a few modules mess me up and cause the black screen and I had to start all over a ton of times, but after hours and hours I finally seem to have everything working for now. Thank you for trying to help, I appreciate it!!
Can you please advise how to uninstall xposed framework? I'm trying to do it via xposed Uninstaller but no luck... Thx in advance for any help

I'm not sure, I currently am not using Xposed anymore. The only way I know is to use the uninstaller and to uninstall the app from your phone. I'm sorry if I can't be of more assistance :/

Do you have any modules installed? If you install Xposed and then install the app, everything should work. Certain modules may not be compatible and they may prevent your phone from booting. You may have to turn off all modules and then turn them on one at a time and see what causes your issue.

No modules, and even no installer app installed. Still black screen mm6.0.1 xstyle 1572 rooted and unlocked bl.
Possible Solution
I had the same problem on my moto, I ended up flashing version 86 of xposed framework and also updated the app to the alpha 4 version. After I did that I had to clear cache and then use root browser to change my xposed disabled file to another. After a long reboot I have xposed running again.

Animal Crossing Pocket Camp not working, rooted

When I first installed ACPC, it worked fine. Had to download the game over Aptoide though.
But now I get that error that happens when using a rooted phone. I have Magisk and Xposed, tried using Magisk hide but still doesn't work. Tried deleting the xml file and rebooting ACPC, it worked for a few seconds but crashed afterwards.
Any tips on how to fix this issue?
Had it installed on my S7 edge G935FD with batman rom 1.4 active magisk hide. Running well.

Not by me but please try.

Device freezing and rebooting while installing an apk

Hello,
I'm experienced a weird bug - when installing an APK file the phone hangs and I need to force restart it. After restarting the phone and trying to open the app being updated - a crash occurs. The update process is seemingly corrupting the app as I need to uninstall it and install again to make it work, making the associated data gone. It is frustrating, because it happens like I'd say 50/50 of times.
Happens while installing an app manually and using root in Yalp. Play Store not tested as it is not present on the phone.
The setup is Xperia X compact running latest .118 Oreo with microg, no GAPPS, Magisk, official Xposed 90 beta3,
Xposed modules: BatteryCare+, FakeGAPPS, GravityBox, XposedGmsCoreUnifiedNlp, XPrivacyLua
It did happen on Xperia X and Xperia XZ with similar setup on Oreo. I wonder if it might be caused by Xposed bundled with Xperia Software?
Actually I'm facing similar issue. I concluded it's caused by Xposed and certain modules. In fact, it's a known issue of Xposed for Oreo. According to rovo89, existing Xposed has problem with ART in Oreo.
As a workaround, now whenever I need to install/uninstall anything, I disable Xposed in Magisk first.

Thank you @itandy for replying. Have you tried installing EdXposed instead of the regular Xposed?
Well it is basically for Pie but it is supposed to work on oreo too. Whenever I tried to install it on X compact running Oreo I got bootloop.
I have found that only some apps installation would cause a freeze and reboot. But your solution is safer of course.

Unfortunately EdXposed doesn't work last time I tried. It fails to boot at all.

EdXposed and GravityBox system framework not responding - Help?

Was running EdXposed and GravityBox on my LG-V30 before. Downloaded and installed EdXposed (through Magisk) without issue. Installed MinMinGuard and it is running fine. Installed GravityBox [P], but everytime I attempt to launch the UI I get, "GravityBox system framework not responding. Exiting." I seem to remember having a similar issue with my LG-V30, but I can't for the life of me remember what the fix was. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, rebooting, etc... Nothing seems to work. Anyone else run into this issue and already figure it out?
Disregard. I didn't realize that we're running Android 10 and not P... Downloaded Gravitybox beta for Q. Everything works now.
