all you need to know..
Worked great for me, installed the Kernel with the fixed IR blaster and I have root.
Since XPosed doesn't work though, I don't quite know what fun things I can do with root. I used to love tweaking things with XPosed, eliminated the need for a custom ROM for minor stuff but with 5.1.1 I haven't found much to do with root yet.
Oh I was able to use titanium to backup my apps, that was exciting
I might just sell the Tab 4 and get a Nexus instead, at least I can get the latest Android quickly with that.

I tried and worked my ass off to attempt to produce a Deodexed version of this rom.. Deodexing is easy, but packaging the rom and with a proper Update Script is something that is at this time beyond my skill set.. I have been working in Ubuntu using ArchiKitchen and had some success, but It won't boot.. So I decided to give my tablet to a friend to use for a while.. I went back to my Trusty Nexus 7 to which is super easy to develop for.. Everyone has quit the T330NU as far as I know, and I just don't have the patients or the time.. Everyone is going back to school this fall and THEY don't have the time.. There will no more development for this device unless some new blood comes into the picture.. My suggestion, sell your tablet on Ebay and buy a Nexus 9..
Edit: My suggestion, Use ODIN to flash the Stock 4.4.2 and use the Chainfire Autoroot.. There is a old Stock rom floating around called Stocked.. I suggest using that.. Its the best we have.. The best we will ever have..

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I was actually looking at how much I can have for it and use that money to partly pay for a Nexus 9. I was already saving up for one but someone gave me the T330NU for free so I could not say no of course. I did not expect that there would be almost nothing for it on XDA.
I'll take a look at that "Stocked" ROM. It's downloading right now. It'll be that or pure stock 5.1.1 without root since there isn't much to do with root on that version anyways.

To flash stock, you need to Flash the official Samsung 4.4.2 firmware first through ODIN, flash recovery and flash Chainfire's Autoroot..
Then you can flash Stocked.. Its pretty decent, but the guy who developed it.. up and quit.. Seems like a common thing for this device..
It's cursed.. From here on in.. I will NEVER purchase another Samsung device again.. Either HTC or LG.. Never Samsung..

I'm trying to download the stock 4.4.2 firmware but all I'm getting are those free/premium download sites where either doesn't download or downloads at 10k per second. I'll find it though and I'm putting the tablet in the classifieds as I do that

The Auto-Root doesn't install, phil's recovery just unpacks the file and says installation aborted.
I tried to install TWRP via ODIN but it doesn't work, when I boot to recovery all I get is a black screen.
EDIT : Never mind, got TWRP to work now.
EDIT 2 : CF-AR is ODIN flashable... DUh!
DONT FLASH THE ZIP!! Unzip it, and flash the .TAR.MD5, in ODIN..

Everything worked and I even forgot how fast applications install on Dalvik. Definitely more options for Xposed so some satisfaction in having root!
I'll still try to sell it for 250$ with the 64GB memory car I have for it. Won't pay for a Nexus 9 but will cover most of it. I love that the N9 is made by HTC, definitely my brand, I just wish it was smaller. Love the format of the N7 except for the wide bezel.
Well I got lucky last night, maybe a week or 2 so I will have a Stock Deodexed LP ROM coming..
Not to get your hopes up.. I got lucky last nite with the update script.. Step by step.. Right now its just a recompiled rom from the TAR to Zip..
I will work on Deodexing, then debloating, making one full install, and one lite.. That will be Deknoxed.. Edit, Rooted as well..
Edit: I still have a ways to go..

Right now I have 3 versions that I'm working on, but since I'm not at my Desktop and away from home, even though its just on the other side of town.. Ill be back monday.. I have all 3 versions ready to test.. Since I'm not home I can't test them.. They will be ready when I'm sure I got everything.. Once released I will then in time make add ons .
I'm currently running and testing the Stock, Deodexed only for the moment.. I will be using Moonbutt74's Kernel, or just make it a flashable addon.. I havent decided.. I don't like the idea of taking someone elses work and injecting it into mine.. I'm on vacation so Ill be busy for a few days.. I have one glitch that didn't come out well during the Deodexing process.. Google drive was popping up and force closing.. So I had to uninstall it.. So I might just add that to the debloat list.. Once I'm confident this is all good.. I'll create my own thread.. I'm temped to send a teaser, but I want to bring it out knowing it works as good as it should..

I use it mainly as a Internet Diagnostic tool..
I own a Coolpad Note 3 running on Android 5.1 Lollipop and packs MT6753 MediaTek 64-bit octacore processor and 3GB RAM. After rooting this device, when I installed Xposed Framework, though it installed successfully but shows a message that this version isn't supported yet. What is this message and when is this platform going to get supported. This was heartbreaking because the major reason of rooting the device was this Framework.
What version of Xposed did you attempt to install? What method did you use to install? What does it say in the log file? We cannot help you without this information.

First, I tried official version of Xposed Installer for lollipop devices. It was a failure(a message popped out after installing that Xposed is not yet supported on this processor platform). Then I referred to the blog Android Beat(How to install Xposed framework on Android 5.1 Lollipop) and downloaded this file "xposed-v78-sdk22-arm64.zip". I flashed it using custom recovery based on CWM. I was stuck in a boot loop after that. Then I was left with no option but to flash my stock ROM as I had no backup at that time.

Please refer to the official Xposed for Lollipop thread, especially post #2. There you'll find an FAQ about common issues and a table to identify the correct Xposed version. You need to flash the correct .zip file through recovery (as you have done before) and install the Xposed_Installer_alpha3.apk afterwards. After flashing, wipe cache&dalvik, as Xposed alters a lot of files in your system, so this step is highly recommended. If this does not solve your issue, search the thread, there have been several questions about Mediatek compatibility before.
Your initial error (Xposed not compatible) was due to the fact that you tried to install the old Xposed installer for KitKat, which is not compatible with Lollipop.
Noted.
I am definitely going to refer to that thread and will update here after that. Thanks for your precious time.
Some advancements
A guy using Coolpad note 3 tried a method to install Xposed and it worked(to some extent though). What he did was he installed busybox, flashed the Xposed zip files. After rebooting, he still got caught in a bootloop but after 15-20 boot loops(seems like it depends on no. of apps installed as each time his phone booted, percentage of optimising apps increased), he was finally able to start his phone. Now under Xposed settings, he checked disable resourced hooks and rebooted. He got Xposed Framework active status after rebooting. A no. of apps which modify UI like gravitybox, xblastools, greenify in root mode etc were not working. But a few others worked quiet well. Could anyone throw some light on this issue?

Unless you're the one trying it, and you can supply full logcats for the entire multi-reboot process, we probably can't know for sure.

I will try it myself and hopefully provide logcats for the entire multi-boot process.
Can you please share which version of xposed you used because I did the same and it was stuck on bootloop then I realized that the % of starting up apps was increasing gradually but after 3-4 attemps it went down and started from zero and so I flashed it again.
I think the issue is that i used xposed arm64-v78 sdk22 but my device is arm64-v8a, and I guess xposed is not yet released for arm64-v8a sdk22 devices.
So finally with this thread I got a hope to try it again and please share as much info as you can coz its gonna help others a lot

You can find the uninstaller in the same thread where you have found the correct Xposed framework version for your device. Use the same specs (SDK version, ARM version) as for the Xposed framework for the uninstaller and flash it. Don't forget to wipe cache&dalvik afterwards.

... Ive had my G4 for some time now on stock MM but was encountering some minor heat issues, i decided to book up the courage to downgrade and root.
Now, im not the most experianced in rooting, i useually count on programs that do it for me, ive never pushed, injected, fake OTA etc. Before. Yes i was scared.
I finally did it all sucessfully yesterday but the only problem is, i feel abit dirty.. Thats the only way i can explain it!
Its strange, i enjoyed stock but i love root access.
Anybody else had this feeling, with any of their phones?
Btw, im now on H815 SEA (Singapore) LP
Yep it's normal, you're gonna learn to love the feeling and you soon could not live without it.
You see, now "TheRoot has you" and there's no escape. Soon you'll be diagnose with ORD (http://www.xda-developers.com/do-you-have-obsessive-rom-updating-disorder-ord/) and you're gonna try and root every device you see.

Haha, don't get me wrong I've been rooting for years but I did really enjoy being on stock. Once I get more organised I should feel a bit better.

You don't need an unlocked bootloader to install Xposed.

I did not read anywhere that it was risky. My first time doing it with flash fire 0.24.
I have a locked bootloader.
Only scary part is your screen being off and you device seeming dead for 15min. It's normal though.
If you decide to do it the version of Flash fire must be 0.24 and you need SDK22 arm64 of exposed framework. I installed SDK21 (its for Android 5.0) first time I did which is wrong for the Android version 5.1.1 and nothing bad happened, ran the uninstaller and installed SDK22.

I guess the whole part where your phone seems dead for 20min is scary, because you do not know what is happening. I do think we can still recover with LGUP if something goes wrong though I am no expert.
Like you I really hope unofficial bootloader unlock comes, but who knows if it will...

Probably. There was no information anywhere on doing it to my variant but worked just fine (H812). Just make sure you get the right version for your phone, then the same version that is rooted. Pretty sure LGUP can not brick a phone but I am pretty new to LG phones.
Rooting aint what it was. Some folks just keep fooling themselves its worth doing. Most that do it, don't need to anymore. Give it another couple of years and root will be gone mostly.

Well for me its really worth changing the awful stock DPI on the G4, you can kind of do it without root but does not work properly.
Removing ads is a bonus.
Also it's nice to have access to play with some things. (exposed modules, tweakbox, etc).
What could you do a few years ago with root that you can't now? I am pretty new to Android, so honest question.
You can't make a Nandroid without UB can you as you don't have custom recovery do you? That is the bit I would worry about having Xposed on LB,if a module crashed the ROM. I think the Xinstaller forced into bootloop on my last G4

I don't think so, but can't you fix a bootloop with LGUP?
Unless bootloop was caused by HW failure which happened a lot on older G4s from my understanding.
Xinstaller definitely caused bootloop for my G4, not the hardware problem (that came a couple weeks later) as I went to recovery and deleted module and booted fine. It was conflict with MM at the time I think.
Point being I don't think you can make Nandroid without UB. Don't know about LGUP, I guess you could yes, but lose settings media apps etc.
Yea this is why all my stuff is either backed up to the cloud or its on the media card.
I've had a rooted phone for ages through multiple devices and vendors. I recently succumbed to the curiosity and upgraded my SEA G4 to MM, losing root. I haven't had any heat issues, not ones solved by not playing games that require constant tapping on the screen anyway, and generally I've been happy with my phone on MM. The main thing I miss from when I had root is the ability for Tasker to do certain actions - like enabling/disabling location services and NFC etc.
Sure I can live with it - but getting back abilities like that has made me consider a downgrade just like the OP many times. I am resigned to the possible fact that I may never get an unlocked bootloader, and no MM root will be no surprise to me.
Can we flash xposed via twrp or flash fire ?
Do it. At your own risk.
If you do it please let us know the results and which version you flashed.
I was also wondering about Viper4Android. I could really use the boost and equalizer.
Can you either nandroid back or flash a stock image if things go south? Can you even flash zips in TWRP yet without issue? You're rolling a big pair if you can't do either.
Is there an xposed for Nougat? Rumor says no. Rumor confirmed.

To be honest, there's really not much benefit at all to rooting yet. Yet people spend hours upon hours of aggravation trying to do so, with many of them that shouldn't be anywhere near an ADB command.
It's the same story with every new phone. The "root commandos."
Xposed isn't working for Nougat I thought
http://androiding.how/xposed-android-nougat-7-0/
It's Working Now. Don't Use Material Xposed Installer. Use The official Xposed Installer APK which is 3.1.2 Currently. Otherwise None Of The Modules Will Work.

I was just thinking the same thing... i've almost always rooted and modified my phones.. but I think it was usually for a specific purpose or need..
the older phones I had were running touchwiz.. which i HATED to use.. so was so eager to get ROM with more of a stock android..
Or how I would love having some of the features of Cyanogenmod.. like "ScreenShot" or Reboot menu ... but with the V20.. it has screen shot built in beautifully..
I know it was also nice to be able to install titanium backup and be able to delete a lot of the stock bloatware .. but the V20 doesn't have much.. plus I can disable most of them...
I do wish I could find a rom that may run a little faster... I have noticed some Hiccups with this phone.. and 1 or 2 random reboots.. but honestly i'm sure if I went with custom software or modifed with Xposed.. i could see that more..
It would be interesting to see what some of the reasons why people on here have rooted the V20.

Mega ROM On 7.0 Stock Kernel With SU. If You Have TWRP, Back Up Just In Case. Download Xposed Installer And In Settings There Is An Installation Option, Choose Manual (This Will Save Downloaded Files So You Can Flash Manually From SD) go To The Main Screen And You Can Get Both The Official framework And The Uninstaller.

I never did root my V20. I'm on the Note 8 now and can't see any benefit of rooting it, either.
I'm really fond of Android Pay. I'm pretty fond of my phone working as it should all day every day. To one degree or the other, you lose that with root. SystemUI tuner will do quite a bit of Xposed's work, and I'm not so annoyed with ads that I feel a need for Adaway.

Dl the APK, sdk24 arm64 version of xposed, and the Uninstaller. Install the APK and allow the app to install xposed through recovery. It will begin install, prompt to reboot in recovery, obviously select okay. Then it's an automatic process. Initial boot up time takes a while so be patient. Everything should be good to go after that. Good luck!
BTW I'm on h918, stock 10q.
I have YouTube adblock, boot manager, xposed torch, and stay awake for now. I feel like a nerd being excited about xposed. This is making the v20 even better!

Amen
I have an SM-N910P (SM-N910PVPU5DQI5)
hardware: N910P.05
OS: 6.01
Build: MMB29M.N9100V0U5DQI5
Wi-Fi only since the connection to Sprint is no more (use my Note 8 for that)
TL;DR - where can I find the ROM for this phone for 8.1 Oreo? Where can I find instructions on how to do it?
I'd like to root it (have oneclickroot) to get rid of the crap finally; then upgrade the OS. Version 8.1 would be fine, 9 is buggy on my Note 8 so not sure I want to go that far yet.
What I can't find is what I need for the phone I have to do what I want. Yes, I've done searches. Yes, I've even used my Google Fu. But most of what I find is from 2016-17 or earlier. After so much researching and reading, I am in acronym hell.
ROM = something you flash to upgrade OS (yes?)
ODIN = some special something that can do all but I can't find (makes my head thor....sorry, couldn't resist)
TWRP2 = twerp something that helps with booting but not sure what else
I have found threads that discuss it but there's a lot of broken linkages both here and elsewhere due to age of articles.
I am a root-virgin. I was going to root my Note 10.1/2013 tablet but replacing the battery did not revive it. Funeral was beautiful, though.
There is a Lineage OS Unofficial 15.1 trlte based on 8.0 Oreo. However, being an unofficial version it will have some bugs. My suggestion is to search XDA Note 4. Then scroll down to Android general development Snapdragon and go to LineageOS 16.1 unofficial version, scroll down and it will have a link to the unofficial 15.1. Then look for the download version trlte. And just for the record, I totally understand what you mean by acronym hell. I went through that also. Had to stop reading to search 5 or 6 times within 1 paragraph of reading. It takes time to understand but if you persist youll get the jang if it. As for the oneclickroot I can offer you no info as I have no experience with it. I will say, Odin is the preferred method here on XDA. There may be members that look down an app to root. I am not one of them as I began my root with the S3 years back. I was unfamiliar with Odin, drives, and PC. Rooting with an app helped to get started. As. for your search, you mentioned most from 2016 & ,17. Yep , I know. The developers for the most part have moved on to newer phones.
Oh, if you have TWRP custom recovery, I strongly recommend backing up of all your parttisions before you begin, meaning check all the boxs before you back up. Also, there is an app called Tipatch which patches TWRP adding the ability to back not only data but alll internal memory. Make sure you TWRP is set to backing up to your external SD. If your looking for something close but not Oreo. Try GRX home zip on stock deodexed rom. Good luck
Twrp (team win recovery project) is a custom recovery which replaces your stock recovery. It is very important to download the correct one for your phone. I use twrp 3.2.3-0-trlte.img.tar and flash it with Oden. Make sure to turn off auto reboot. YouTube search for more details. A custom recovery lets you flash custom roms, kernel, and various zip files. The most important thing it does is backup all the parttisions. If you make a mistake later on soft brick your phone , you backup may be the only thing that gets it working again. I recommend backing up all parttisions (check all boxes ) before you root or mod anything. That way you have a clean backup of your original firmware. Backup everything to external sd and if possible make a duplicate and save to pc, flash drive...... And yes, its a bit overwhelming at first so do some research and ask questions if needed.
Back up what's that? LOL.. When I backed up mine, then started the wipe process I accidentally wiped away my back up. LOL lucky for me I have a complete stock firmware on reserve if it is ever needed. I'm itching to try something new, but might just stick to what i have now..

How are you my friend? Always good to hear from you Mr doubledragon5. At one point, I thought I was alone in this forum.
LOL , Im glad you liked that"back up whats that?" LoL Perhaps I should have been a bit more tactful in my responses but I couldnt help myself . Just couldn't seem to convince that member the importance of making a backup before flashing and modifying everything. As for the systemimg fail in Odin, the PIT file from another firmware has partitioning that is incompatible with 5dq15.
It could be a combination of DM-verity, DRK, emmc/mmc fail and all the rest.

Ya I forgot to make my back up go to the external SD card, or at least transfer it to my computer desktop.. I love having complete control of my phone.. It actually works better than my Pixel 3a Xl... Only issue I have found so far is after upgrading my youtube vanced, I lost screen rotation, and can't figure out why.. I'm going to uninstall it just to see if some how that caused the issue.. If not then time for a complete reinstall... LOL I always visit this forum at least 3-4 times a day to see what is up.. Hopefully more people will come to realize, that the newer phones are just not worth the price, as they have become to restrictive and to expensive, plus not to mention to intrusive.

The 512gb Note 10 plus at about $1,200 is an experience device. The hardware is impressive, however, restrictive US versions have locked bootloaders.
Your YouTube Vanced app may conflict with YouTube when updating. I believe you have to uninstall YouTube updateds and disable automatic updates in Google PS. Then install YouTube Vanced . Advice to confirm this as Im not certain of the exact procedure. Just be careful not to unistall Youtube Good luck.

Youtube was originally installed, but taken out with TT back up and root, before Youtube Vanced was intalled.. So I went ahead and reinstalled the rom. Will see what happens over the next few days.. I know a fix was posted in the Rom thread, but the link is broken, as it is no longer being supported naturally.. But hope someone has a copy, for future use, rather than keep on re-installing.

Did reinstalling the rom fix the rotation issues? Can't help but notice how much you like YouTube Vanced so it must be better that YouTube. Now Im interested in YT Vanced.
What do you think of the Team BlackOut app in Dtux rom control mod center?

Yes. YouTube vanced is much better than the regular youtube.. But I can't seem to get the rooted version to work at all. I use the non route version with micro G. But you have to use a slightly older version as a newest version keeps on Forest closing.

I haven't the experience with YouTube Vanced so I can not advise. As far as the broken links in the developer threads it seem to be a common issue. Im guessing , the more time that passes the less the links will provide a download. As I notice your post on Dr. ketan rom and it links to a n910g xda thread. If you do go back to rooted stock deodexed rom before installing a custom rom then consider copying your system csc file/folder to external sd. Also, you may wish to check out the GRX home v8 touchwiz mod .zip. Its modern and customizable but can not easily be ported to the Dtux rom as some setting overlap but once familiar with the setting in GRX then you can avoid conflicting issues with the rom control app of the custom rom. GRX works really smooth and I liked it so much than when I installed Dtux the touchwiz launcher felt out dated. Anyway the last pic is an app for themeing the Play Store.

Ya it did, When I uninstall stuff from TT back up and root, obviously a app that I uninstall causes this. I have not figured out yet which one.. Since I had to do it 2 more times,. LOL But apps that I do remove have nothing to do with screen rotation..

Stuck on the 5DQ15, I noticed something in looking threw a .zip custom rom with knox system app removed./deleted. The files/app inside the folders were deleted. The folder was not delete but the property permissions were changed. I found this to be consistent rom to rom developer to developer. Ill post a few pics in the next post. So now I do the same thing with a root file manager. I just copy and past the folder to external sd before I delete files/app from the system. Then back out and change the folder permissions and reboot. Its recommend to wipe dalvik/chache making changes to the system but I get lazy and just reboot.
If you still have the Dr. ketans M12 rom or another rom with system apps that have been removed then you can look threw the rom .zip and copy the touchwiz home app to the external sd . I use an older app (ZArchiver pro) to be able to copy an app from a .zip without the need to extract the entire .zip to do so. Perhaps the newer free version will do the same.
