SM-G900F - camera Failed Error - Desperately need help - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So guys, the story of my camera failed error goes like this :
1. when i bought S5 6 months back it was on stock lollipop firmware.
Camera working fine.
2. OTA updated to Stock Marshmallow, camera still working fine.
Till this point i did not root or install custom recovery.
3. Rooted phone with CF auto root. Camera was still working.
4. Took NANDROID backup of rooted stock marshmalllow.
5. One fine day phone entered into bootloop. Then i started experimenting with various custom ROM's.Installed TWRP & started trying out various ROM's and camera failed error pops up as follows :
MM Touchwiz ROM + MM Bootloader + MM Modem = Camera failed.
LP Touchwiz ROM + LP Bootloader + LP Modem = Camera failed.
KK Touchwiz ROM + KK Bootloader + KK Modem = Camera failed.
The above is for both custom rom installed thru recovery and stock rom flashed thru ODIN or Kies.
But surprisingly
MM AOSP (Res. remix 5.7.1) ROM + LP BOOTLOADER +LP MODEM = Camera Works.
But if update BL to MM bootloader then Camera fails again on AOSP rom too.
So, can i take any files / libraries from AOSP rom to touchwiz rom and make camera work in touchwiz.
or is it possible to run marshmallow touchwiz rom on LP bootloader ?
with AOSP rom i have consistent signal issues so cannot use it as a daily driver,
I am starting to belive that MM bootloader or setting of permissions by bootloader is creating problems for camera to work. camera works on AOSP rom, so it doesnt appear to be a hardware issue.
any help will be much appreciated.

May be a stupid question. But you are flashing the exact MM firmware for your phone? May not be musch assistance, but I do know that most galaxy cameras are firmware specific. If I used a sprint s5 camera with a Verizon motherboard, the camera will fail on stock but not aosp. Because it doesnt match with the appropriate firmware.

yes // i am using the exact firmware for my model SM-G900F

How does it fail? Is there a error message or force close? Try to make a picture with WhatsApp, does it work? I've got a problem that could be the same unfortunately no solution yet. I thought it was because of a new nightly from CM13 but after a lot of weeks and updates its not working again.

Note 3 (N9005) auto rotation does not work for any CFW

Dear Community,
I hope that this is the right place to post and any of you can help me.
My (aktual) Hardware/Software bits:
Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N9005)
Android: 5.1.1
Baseband-Version: N9005XXUGBOD3
Kernel-Version 3.4.108-f2fs-temasek-cm12.1-hlte-v1.25+
temaseksnappy #1
Temasek unofficial version V16.4
Build: LMY48J test-keys
Recovery: twrp 2.8.7.0-hlte-4.4
My actual problem is the following: My Note 3 by default had a 4.4.2 OFW on it, which I early upgraded to Lolipop 5.0.1. Everything works for the OFW 4.4.2 and 5.0.1 fine. As soon as I try to flash it with a CFW like CM11, CM12, CM12.1, CM12.1 (temaseksnappy), Gummy 4.4.4 I am losing the feature of auto rotation.
Of cource I did a clean flash, wiping DALVIK/CACHE/DATA and system, double time even one befor the flash, one after.
I also tried to put the battery, sim and sd out for few min before rebooting, while autorotation is manualy turned off.
Even a MODEM I flushed to fix this issue, but without success. Nothing helps but going back to OFW.
My last try was downgrading to the original 4.4.2, including baseband trieing from there to go to any CFW (CM11) as well as from OFW 4.4.2 -> OFW 5.0.1 -> CFW 5.1.1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/hlte-spr-vzw-temaseks-unofficial-t2953375)
There was also a post about a possible missing or broken lib in /system/lib which I replaced
Nothing helps (libGNU... something). This helped me alreay once in OFW after kicking out all the junk apps, but this is a different storry and not related anyhow.
Is there anybody out there who has the same problem or even better knows a solution?
My shot would be that:
1) CM has a problem with my particular hard-/software (Kernel, Baseband, Recovery, whatever) as I just tied CM or at least CM based CFWs.
PLEASE HELP.
Thank you very much in advance.
After about almost a year I cam back, giving again a try to CM, However I still have the same issue. Finally Anybody please!
Do you have the same issue with touchwiz 5.1.1 and 6.0.1?. Not the cm/aosp roms which aren't samsung based.

Hello,
Thx for your reply. Right now I am on CM13 (temasek hlte v9.6)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/hlte-spr-vzw-temaseks-unofficial-t2953375
This might should be specially compiled for sm-n9005 like mine.
Everything expect rotation works fine. However The accelleration is also working fine as I tested with "sensor test". Even the integrated camera App is rotating, however the rest is not.
In addition I downloaded "adaptive rotationfree", If I set it "stock Auto" nothing happens, but if I set it to "force auto" the rotation will work exacly once and then stops undtil I force it to portrait again.
What do you mean exactly with "touchwiz"? Is this jus a different kernel or a whole CFW?
As I wrote in the frist post I tried already a lot of CFW and ALL had this issue, but the OFW ;(
What shell I flush to get this working, which is not OFW?
BIG THX for YOUR HELP
Touchwizz is the firmware that comes with the stock Samsung firmware .
Also in custom Samsung based roms .
Hello,
thx for the tip with TouchWiz vs aosp. At the moment I am running "DarkLord N5 Release Candidate 2.12" which can get find here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/rom-darklord-s6-port-alpha-t3083087
This Rom is TouchWiz Based and guess what ....
Autorotation works.
However I do not understand what the problem realy is and would prefer to run cm13 insteat. I mean even samsung devices got a accellerator within which works also fine with AOSP software, showing numbers moving while turning the phone. In addition for example on the post http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/hlte-spr-vzw-temaseks-unofficial-t2953375 it is said that this is explicite for note 3 including the model n9005. So ...
Can anybody point me to the problem or even better to the fix?
Is there any chance CM would fix this?
Regards

HELP regarding Upgrade to MM STOCK ROM OR CM 13.0 !!!

Hi guys, its been a few days since I joined here. [Read : I am a noob/newbie in Android related things, and I desperately need help.]
In July (maybe, I forgot), I rooted my ZE550KL, using exactly this method from the website of www-asus-zenfone-com. :cyclops:
Now that, my android seems aged, I wanna shift/upgrade to Marshmallow/Nougat, be it Stock or Custom ROM.
Few days earlier, I unlocked my Bootloader using the Unofficial Bootloader Unlocking Method, as found on this Forum.
I also installed TWRP Recovery, and I tried to flash CM-14.1 [7.1] Nougat-Nightly through TWRP, but, unfortunately, resulted in Status 7 Error. I tried to solve the problem by removing "asserts" section in Update-Binary text file, in the build. But, again, I seemingly worsened the problem; as I got Status 6 error thereby. So, I did factory reset, and I still retain root.
Now, today as I am going through the Official thread of CM 14.1 Nougat, I saw numerous users reporting Bugs of connection issues (something like Wifi to Mobile Data switch problem), which I would like to OBVIOUSLY AVOID, as I want a stable, bug-less build. So, I am thinking to go with the last snapshot build of CM 13.0 Marshmallow.
Here comes the my question : " SHOULD I FLASH CM 13.0 MM -- OR -- STOCK ROM OF MM -- OR -- RESURRECTION REMIX MM ROM?? "
In any of the case, please guide me through the process of doing so.
And, if I have to flash CM 13.0 MM, what would I do if I encounter Status Error 7 again ? :crying:
first you have to upgrade it to marshmallow using stock rom. Then you can flash cm13 or cm14.1

While flashing CM13 if that error 7 includes "asus.verify trustzone failed..." Then its bcoz of need to update modem files (LP to MM)....
Easy way to overcome it is..... download MM modem ZIP from second post of OFFICIAL CM13 thread (120MB) and flash it using TWRP (If you are using twrp).... THEN you can flash cm13 hopefully without error 7....
If you are using stock recovery then Either u can flash twrp and use above method... OR... Download ASUS ZE550KL firmware zip file from ASUS site (1.6GB) .... Put it in SDCARD... Then boot to stock recovery and use "apply update from sdcard" option... select ZIP... Alongwith firmware Ur Modem files will also update to MM... and now u can flash twrp and then cm13...
sorry.. I know if i am lazy to post direct links...
Try it.. I will help if i can

We have both stable RR and CM13.
CM is simple and clean and less loaded.... RR is most feature rich Custom rom we have alongwith stability...
Rest depends on what type of user, u are... If u like trying differnt ROMs... Start with CM13...
If u just want to have a feature rich longtime setup, U can use RR directly without wasting time... It is based on CM, So it obviously have everything CM has.... :good:

Latest Stock Marshmallow:

Stock RecoveryRestore it using TWRP)

First Lollipop Software:
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ZenFone/ZE550KL/UL-Z00L-WW-1.11.40.299-user.zip
First Do A nandroid backup of your phone. So that if any thing goes wrong, U can recover it.
Then Download both the Stock MM and Recovery file named TWRP.zip.
Extract TWRP.zip.
Then take both the MM software and Xtracted TWRP folder in a memory card.
Then Open TWRP recovery in ur phone and restore the stock recovery.
Then Erase Every Thing including System.
Then Restart The recovery. Now you will see that the recovery has gone back to the stock recovery.
Now flash the stock marshmallow from your memory card.
Then flash TWRP from fastboot and thn u can flash any supported custom Android MM or Android N.
N.B. If it dosent work. Then you have to first install the last lollipop Zenfone 2 Laser(Z00LD) software then install the marshmallow.

Help needed for upgrade

Hi there,
I'm using 4.4.2 wanamlite 2.9 rom on a i9505 with twrp 2.8.
Recently I encountered lot of problems like modem not working properly, rebooting, videos playing in slowmo, no sound etc... weird stuff...
I'm convinced to upgrade to (lets say) marshmallow (any custom rom) but I dunno how to do it properly. So here my questions:
- should I flash the stock rom and start again with root / custom rom etc? Or...
- should I upgrade with odin to stock modem and bootloader first, and after that install a custom rom via twrp? Which way is the correct one?
Btw. Should I upgrade to lolli, marsh or 7.x? Dunno whats better. I'm using touchwiz with xposed framework. I dont need tw but i find xposed very helpful. Any advice or link to guides?
Thanx
Upgrade the individual components. In your case, that means recovery, bootloader, and modem via Odin. Your copy of TWRP is ancient and the newer versions of Android need a newer version of TWRP to properly flash them. Once you've upgraded the components, download any Android 6.x ROM for your device - since you want Xposed - and flash it via TWRP. Android 7.x ROMs are available for your device, but Xposed does not work on them, and I don't expect it to work any time soon.

Yesterday I updated via .img the recovery (TWRP 3.2).
Now I'll look for bootloader and modem. Should I use the stock ones or are on xda some threads with better modems and bootloaders?
I think I'm going for resurrection remix or for some aosp. Any experience?
Best and happy new year .

If it works on a stock ROM but not the custom ROM, sounds like the ROM is not capable of that function on the phone.

But many are saying Smart view works on their Note 3 phone with custom marshmallow rom. For me it works only when newly installing the rom and later it suddenly stops working.
Maybe ask in the ROM thread? I'm not sure why if would stop working.

And also i already tried to install MM firmware but it gives out error code 7 in twrp. I tried as i was said to install the previous version of lollipop before the update of MM came out but still i cant install them.

Which Android u r using now
Lolipop or MM
is your bootloader locked on unlocked?
just go back to stock versions for now
if u r on lollipop, download the 'next version' from asus
if u r on marshmallow, download the next version from asus
use fastboot (bootloader) mode to flash if required
when all is stable and done,
download & flash twrp
flash lineage 13, then lineage 14
