Old Verizon Motorola Droid X: Delayed phone dialing - Droid X General

An old but working fine Verizon Motorola Droid X insists on waiting 10 minutes before it dials any phone number. But wait! If I dial ten numbers, it dials each of them after 10 minutes. Might be a neat way of annoying some asshole all night! Yeah, right. Not serious. What causes this and can it be turned on and off? Much prefer it to be off.
Have already tried ""Android Recover" and BPHW Bypass Diag and Boot" options by holding PowerON with Down Volume and then Down Volume to select these options.
Many thanks gang.

In-Call screen timeout

Anyone know how to change the in-call screen timeout? I think it's like 5 seconds right now. Maybe like 10 or 15 seconds would be a little more practical.

Not sure but it times out so you can put it up to your face while your talking on it without the touch screen freaking out on us so i sincerely doubt there is any way to change it.

yeah but trying to navigate voicemail is a PITA... I did find the button that keeps the thing "live/on" while plugged into power... that at least is nice.

I'm not having this problem at all so I wasn't sure what people were referring to. However, I discovered that my sister was having the same problem described here and on other forums. Her phone would timeout within a second or two and it was extremely annoying to her. So off I went trying to help her.
Short Answer: Reboot the phone via the red/power key.
Long Answer: After several hours of troubleshooting with no luck I had her reboot the phone by holding down the red key and choosing to "Power off". Then hold the red key again to turn on the phone. After that it seems the problem went away. I've had her do other things but I'm not sure it was relavent so I'll stop here and see if this helps anyone else.
Huh? This is not a bug that you can simply do away with. The phone is supposed to time out.
On the other hand, I would like the option to adjust the timeout
Screen Backlight Timeout during a call
Is there a way to adjust the screen backlight timeout during a phone call? My timeout is set for 2 minutes, but during a call the screen shuts off so fast it does not let me dial extensions etc, and then pressing menu to light up, then menu to unlock then menu to bring up the keyboard, its kind of annoying. I just measured the time, its about 10 seconds.
This question is NOT ABOUT: Screen/Setting/Sound&Display/ScreenTimeout (that one has its own issues too, but this thread is specific to one issue)
Lol I have the same prob when I do phone banking. By the time I've pressed menu
Then flicked the dial buttons back up iam to late to press the button and have to start
Over again. Its really pissing me off now lol.
Adam
Amen... hopefully one of the developers can make this adjustable
Yes, it's one of my main gripes about the phone function.
They really should have made it adjustable independently of the standard timeout time. Because even voicemail prompts are a pain in the rear.
Power Manager
You can pick up the Power Manager application off of the Andoird marketplace. It allows you to modify the amount of time the screen is on during a phone call.

Really? Must be the new version I don't have. I have the first version and it lacks that function.
Thanks for the tip.
I know this thread is a bit old, but I'm having this problem and its really annoying!
I have the touch pro, and the display timeout while talking is like 5 seconds, and then I have to press that top button to get the screen to come back on, and I have to press it like 3 times till it comes back up. Really annoying when I'm pressing numbers with an automated system like voicemail.
Download power manager from the app store. allows you to change in-call time out and a truck load of other things.
If you want to find it on the net here - http://www.cyrket.com/asset/-5688572614148254173
That was driving me crazy - I changed mine to 30 seconds for in call.

incoming call pickup delay

when a call comes in, i either push answer on the screen or hit the green button. however, it takes a few seconds before the my phone actually picks up the call. has anyone else run into this problem?
i just tried calling myself and the phone just keeps ringing the extra ~3 seconds before the phone picks up.
Here's an article on how to fix that, but it involves a registry editor and adjusting a setting
http://www.wmexperts.com/wm-cdma-phones-have-delay-when-answering-call-data-connection-read
I actually have this problem but the registry fix isn't what's wrong ...is there any other ideas?
i'm pretty sure it has to do with WM - I have a coworker with the Mogul and he says he has the same delay that i have both with answering calls and hanging up calls.

Try this one
It is not a fix per say for what you wnat but it will make your phone ring soner.
Get into your msl settings by pressing ##778# on stock rom (you will need your unlock code) and then click on edit, then click your left soft key (should be view info) then go to modem settings and change the slot cycle index to 1. What this will do is make your cell phone check the tower for incomming calls every 1-2 seconds instead of every 5-7 seconds.

I agree that this works. It helped my pickups be a little quicker and more consistent. If you don't know your unlock code, google for an app called "getspc"

[Q] Bluetooth Voice Dialer pops up randomly and locks my device up.

Alright well i've got android 2.2 installed via NAND. 10 times a day at least, the Bluetooth Voice Dialer pops up, and somehow disables my camera (back) button. It even stops my device from going to sleep. after about 5 or 10 minutes it will eventually go to sleep, i then press the power button up top to wake it up, the lock pattern is displayed. i can hit the camera (back) button then and then enter the pattern to unlock it and the back button works again.
its really frustrating, i cant find anything on the internets about it and my logfiles aren't revealing anything. has anyone had a similar problem?
bump bump bump. getting really frustrated. i've gotta use other peoples phones half the time because mine bullshits around like this. _any_ ideas?

2 incredibly annoying android issues

first issue it's incredibly annoying when I am leaving a message on someone else's voicemail and they call me and I can't find a way to quickly hang up and switch to the other call. surely there is an option I am missing that allows you to hang up the call you're on an answer the other 1 but I end up hanging up on the person calling.
second I can't find a way to hang up the phone if I inadvertently switch from the phone to the home screen. is there a button that always hangs up the phone when you aren't on the phone dialer screen?
Notification, expand the current call one and there would be hang up.

When you get a call when you're already in one you can swipe to answer the incoming call. On the AOKP ROM there is a hangup button in the notification panel. If you're not running that ROM you can always just go back to the phone app then hang up.

HOW DO YOU HANG UP WHEN NOT ON THE DIALER SCREEN???
its like an adventure in frustration to accidently call someone and frantically try to navigate through multiple screens looking for the damn dialer screen so you can hit the red bar

how???? the only options avaliable are for the incoming call "answer/ignore/text"
if i answer..then the other call is on hold and i'm bouncing around through screens again looking to find a way to (a) switch calls..(b) hang up the old one...(c) take the other one off hold.
that is super unwieldy especially when you're like 'hello??? hello??' making sure the other person is still on the line and the proxmity sensor keeps cutting in and out while you're trying to look at the damn phone, listen for the other person..look to see if you've managed to switch over...hit more buttons...listen for the other person..make sure you hung up on the wrong person...and then look for the 'hold' button flag and turn that off.
check accessibility, power button to end calls for accidental calls

Go into settings, accessibility and check "Power button ends call". If you need more than that, you might have to write your own script, app, etc.
Just don't hit your power button when in a call you actually want to be in.
Oh, republicano, you beat me to it.

THANK YOU!!! :good:
going out of my mind on this one. its super embarrassing when you accidently call someone you were about to send a text to and say 'i'm not available' and they're on the line going 'hello? hello?' while i'm trying to figure out how to hang up on them without speaking.
the power button is better than nothing.
the 2 line management is atrocious.
i bet i call someone at least 2-3x a week and get their voicemail and as i'm leaving a message for them..they call back.
then i'm in android-phone-hell trying to do something that *SHOULD* be a no-brainer.
i can't be the only one this happens to all the time. if i'm in a car its even worse (yeah yeah dont use the phone while driving) because i'm about to swerve off the road trying to look down at the phone 15x to switch calls and hang up on the old one.
what usually happens is
A. i answer the other call and leave a 20 minute blank voicemail on the original line which google leaves politely open the whole time i'm on the other call.
B. hang up on the incoming call in my attempt to hang up the call i'm on and have to call the other person back again and hope they pick up. this is DEATH if you're waiting on a callback from a customer service person.
this is horrible design. i know i'm not the only this happens to all the time.

ok, this is a half-ass feature. it 'kind of' works but doing my experiment (on call with someone when new call comes in) the power button does freaking NOTHING. it doesn't try to hang up either call.
it only works if you are on a call and someone else isn't trying to call in.
*sigh*

This. When on a call and someone is on hold, the end button should end the hold call first, then end the current call on a second press

Maybe it was Cyanogen or just older Android but I could have sworn there was a "Hangup and Answer" option. I used to use this all the time when I was calling someone and their voicemail picked up but they called me right back before I could leave a message, I would just tap that option and it would end the current call and answer the new one.
I agree though, it's weird but thanks for the notification window tip. I totally forgot about that option
I had this kind of problem.. I end up hanging up on both. I'll look again later but I think I know what you mean..

I tried the notification trick.. No love. You can't pull anything down while on a call unless maybe you're talking about a custom ROM.
Seems your phone is frozen when there is an incoming call. All you can do is answer text or ignore.

The second one is easy... Not sure if its already been answered but I didn't feel like ready the entire thread... Bring down the notification and use 2 fingers to expand it

I'm missing that option. I recently bought a Sony XperiaZ and there was an option to "hang up and answer". I'm sure of it and was really appreciating it. But I didn't like the phone and just bought a Nexus 5. I'm on Cataclysm custom rom but I don't see anything like that to make our lives easier.

Delay problems

Hi everyone!
After i rooted and flashed a recovery on my note 3 realized that whenever i reboot or shut down and power on my phone after i unlock the sim (via pin) the phone gets at home screen but is like dead, meaning for about a minute or two i cant lock the screen with the power button, the home and settings buttons dont light up when i push them or do any noise or vibration, wifi remains off, power saving remains off until the phone makes a quick vibe after 2 minutes or so. That quick vibe was quicker before the root and recovery, it was instant after i unlocked the sim. Also after that problem i got a calling delay, after i try to call someone now and then i have to wait for a minute or so until the call starts. The screen stays at dial pad but doesnt do anything, i can dial numbers but no key noise no key vibration. I unrooted my phone, flashed the stock rom again etc but the problem remains. If anyone knows what to do please help me out
I've not done anything to the system at all (Root, flash etc, I'm on full stock) and mine does this too. I boot it up, and for a ful 2-3 minutes it simply remains on and I can't do anything to get it to turn off. I can long-press the power key to bring up the menu, but locking the screen is simply not happening at all. Irritating, but alas.
As for the delay in calling, it usually takes a while between the dialing out and the line to actualy establish, that's probably a network issue.

i don't think that its a network problem because it happens only to me and not always. It takes a while normally but in my case it stuck's on the dial pad not between dial and line. It doesn't even turn the screen off if i put it to my ear...
Have you tried to disable the SIM pin?
