Hi all,
I'm far from an Android specialist so please excuse me if I don't fully understand you in a technical sense.
I'm trying to root my Note 4 and failing miserably, when comparing my rooting process to those of others who are successful I only see one difference.
When installing SuperSU I get this error:
******************
Boot image patcher
******************
- Finding boot image
--- Boot image: /dev/block/mmcblk0p17
- Extracting ramdisk
- Decompressing ramdisk
- Checking patch status
--- Already patched, attempting to find stock backup
--- Stock restore failed, attempting ramdisk restore
--- Ramdisk restore failed, aborting
When watching other install in the exact method I do, it just continues installing after "- Checking patch status"
Any advice/guidance would be greatly received
Cheers,

hello everyone ,
i had a problem couple of days ago about "boot-looping" in which i was stuck always with ACER logo and nothing else
and finally i bypassed this stage by doing EUU recovery :crying: and back to HoneyComb 3.0.2 ...which is extremely lagy and buggy and lazy
tried to search for "Acer Enhancement" app in the market , and then when i found it , it told me "it's not compatible with the tablet "
so i had the other option , trying to do system update from sittings , however again is told me "system up to date"
lastly , i tried to update through "A500 APX Flash" to update first the BL .... i tried MANY options and packages and all were stuck at "second stage : uploading bootloader"
so , i went manually and tried through NvFlash , and tried many possible bootloaders , however all come out with the same error :
Code:
Flashing bootloader: bootloader_v8.bin ...
Nvflash started
[resume mode]
Formatting partition 4 please wait.. Command Execution failed cmd 13, error 0x120002
FAILED!
command failure: format partition failed (bad command)
bootloader status: unknown operation (code: 1) message: flags: 0
Nvflash started
[resume mode]
then again , i tried all the update.zip (7 stock ICS packages ) with no success and all failed
how can i upgrade ? ... it's to buggy and annoying that many applications are not ICS restricted only !!
any idea ...help ?

You probably used the Timmy Dean EUU? If so, it has disabledOTA, to prevent breaking root. It has instructions to re-enable OTA, but might be easier for you to just flash stock EUU from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1816560 , then simply update in the play market. This assumes you want to go stock. You could also install a ics bootloader, a custom recovery, & flash whatever ROM you like.

it only works only to take you from HC 3.2 to ICS 4
so i had the other option , trying to do system update from sittings , however again is told me "system up to date"

if this is the case then you've used the wrong build number to flash - not sure where you got the EUU from but it definitely is not timmydeansv4!

you need to reset the partitions on your tab using timmydeansv4 or babsector.rar both of which can be downloaded from the root guide in my sig..try babsector first, if that doesnt do it then:
tdv4 - follow the instructions in the pdf - this will upgrade you to HC 3.2 rooted and cwm,you can then nvflash the bootloader from there or OTA to ICS with the acer enhancer app you tried before
If neither of these things work then you have a faulty motherboard and it will need replacing
actually i tried all that ...
and yes i manged to reach to HC.3.2.1 .....however , once the tablet download the ICS 4.0.3 final update , and reboot for update ....it gets stuck in the ACER logo and fail to boot , till i re-flash the EUU 3.0.1 or HC.3.2.0 US through the SD-Card !!!!!!!
simply i can't pass from HC to ICS otherwise the tablet die ?!!
is it motherboard ?
i feel like my tablet has some sort of conflict with BL of ICS ?
but it was working very well for around 7 months with stock rooted ICS without any failure ?!
what do you think ?
no don't thinks its yr m/b otherwise you'd be having trouble flashing - sometimes its just the OTA -
what to do next, well it depends on what you want
but I'd be going back to HC and flashing the unlocked bootloader v8 - once you have that you can flash either a stock ICS from civato's thread in dev or one of the custom roms
the root guide in my sig should get you where you wanna go - post in there if you need further help
good luck

Model: XT1581 (dual SIM, same as MXF version)

And here's what I did:
1. Unlocked the bootloader and flashed the 6.0 ROM without error.
2. Boot into the system without error.
3. Flashed TWRP (3.0.0) and boot in recovery with out error.
4. Installed SuperSU 2.79 without error. Also tried 2.78-SR1.
5. Reboot to system and stuck on Moto logo. The only thing I could do to fix it is reflash the firmware again.
I thought it may caused by ForceEncrypt which is introduced in Android 6.0. I've tried [Format Data] in TWRP and got the following result:
Code:
Done.
Failed to unmount '/data' (Device or resource busy)
You may need to reboot recovery to be able to use /data again.
I don't know if the encryption has been removed successfully but I still get stuck at Moto logo.
I also tried systemless side load SuperSU but didn't help.
So did I do something wrong?
THX.
Problem solved.
1. Flash in stock 6.0 firmware;
2. boot into fastboot mode and load TWRP (3.0.2) with /system READ ONLY mode. I think this is the cause for the failure;
3. Install SuperSU (2.7.9-SR3). And saw a message "System-less mode. Boot image support required." on terminal. What does "boot image support reqiured" means?
4. Reboot and SuperSU works like a charm.
Update: I've tried to boot TWRP without /system write protection and flash in SuperSU 2.79-SR3 successfully. So only the SuperSU is responsible for this issue?
Hi everybody,
I have a problem with my phone Leeco Le Pro 3 X720.
My bootloader is unlocked, fastboot works, I have TWRP 3.2.1-0 (and tried different ones as well). Previously I had already installed tons of different custom roms. Last one was an update of AICP 13, it failed somwhow and it was in stuck in a bootloop. So, I wiped everything and tried to reinstall the custom ROM, but it is not working anymore, result is:

It seems like the update process fails due to some problems with the file system. Same happens with sideload. BUT I can install EUI 5.9 via fastboot and it works fine.
e2fsck sometimes says that Inode 419 has bad axtended attribute block 196606, and that there are problems with the suberblock on /system. After I fixed it, there are no problems but still fails to install. Format data in fastboot results in (in twrp it works):
Code:
>fastboot format /data
Formatting is not supported for file system with type ''.
There are also problems with transferring the zip fails via MTP, the devices supposedly is disconnected, sometime it works, othertimes it fails...
What is wrong with my phone? Please help me
Thank you!

I am currently on EUI 5.9 with 26s (LE_ZL1_LEX720-CN-FN-WAXCNFN5902607031S-5.9.026S-FASTBOOT.zip with AIO Tool) with stock recovery. So should I flash TWRP and then 20s (firmware-20S-X720-le_zl1.zip, 46MB)? Failed
Or should I flash LE_ZL1_LEX720-CN-FN-WAXCNFN5902012312S-5.9.020S-FASTBOOT.zip and then TWRP + Custom Rom? Failed
Nothing worked :/

I fixed it by installing the TWRP image from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/how-to/leeco-le-pro-3-root-t3476560
Afterwards I was able to flash any custom rom.
Good Luck!
I am getting always the same error:
E1001: Failed to update system image.
Updater process ended with ERROR: 1
I wiped and formatted every partition, installed the most recent firmware.
I would appreciate any suggestion or advise. Thanks.
Then begin from new. First the right miui version with mi flashtool( don't look your bootloader) and then step by step
Today i have unlocked the bootloader using PotatoNV and i have flashed TWRP from fastboot.
I have downloaded a magisk 16.0 zip from a site that explains how to root this phone and i have flashed it.
After rebooting to system or recovery i get this error screen that says:
Attention!
Please update system again
Error!
Func NO : 10 (boot image)
Error NO : 2 (load failed!)
So i think it corrupted the boot.img. Seems that I cant access TWRP anymore but I can access the stock eRecovery (which is useless because if i try running the factory reset the error shows) and fastboot (which seems to be able to flash things). But i cant find the stock boot.img anywhere, can someone send me the stock boot.img or a site where i can get it? Or do anyone know how to solve this in another way? Thanks.
I have solved this problem by flashing a kernel image extracted from another phone of the same model.
You enter fastboot by pressing the volume down key and connecting the cable, than run this command:
Code:
fastboot flash kernel kernel.img
I attach the image that I flashed, maybe it helps someone (My EMUI version: 9.1.0.235).
