[ZE551KL] Lots of battery / Charging issues - Zenfone 2 Laser Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've been having a few issues with my Asus Zenfone 2 Laser when it comes to charging my phone that takes up to 8 hours to do a full charge, to when while plugged in i still get a battery life drop. Pokemon Go just released recently and the game (which runs very well) will make the battery discharge faster than it can charge while plugged in.
Ive looked into the possible fixes :
Clearing Cache
Removing / Reformatting my SD card
Complete discharge before doing a recharge
And have not had any luck,
I'm really at my wits end with this,
I am currently running Stock Marshmellow. Ive considered running any one of the stripped down FW's or CM in case the Asus bloat is the problem. And i am not all that sure that its resolvable with a FW upgrade, if there is anyone running a different FW than stock id be curious to know what your experience is like before i bite the bullet. A suggestion on which FW would also be appreciated
Are there any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

I recently bought the same model ze551kl ... i wonder if you got a solution regarding your battery discharge rate problem ... I noticed that my phone discharges on average 15% per hour when using it to play simple balls alignment game ...

Heavy battery drain

I am experiencing an extreme battery drain issue in where the original HTC battery discharges from 100% to 0% in a couple of hours.
So a couple of days ago all of a sudden my phone started overheating. I rebooted it as I thought it might get rid of some excessive CPU usage from an unknown app, but that is not the case. I downloaded quick system info to get an idea of the CPU usage but it seems very normal, idling around 9%.
Then I did a full wipe and flashed the version 8.2 of Ice Cold Sandwich. My radio is also the most recent XX_28. Battery calibration has been done too. Pretty much all the capabilities software-wise don't seem to work.
When idling the phone consumes 630ma according to battery monitor. It gets very hot both while in idle, under load and while charging (45 degrees).
I tried my backup battery which has not been used before. It is a cheap one from Ebay just to test if the original battery has failed. But exactly the same problems occur.
For me it's pretty clear that there is not much left software-wise to do. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
RRU and return to carrier/HTC

I had the same problem. I tried loads of things, in the end I had to send it back to my carrier and turns out there was a fault.
This got solved folks. I used AAHK in order to install an HTC rom and to put S-ON. Then I returned it to HTC. They sent me a new device and a new battery. Great service considering the fact that I couldn't find the invoice when I bought it. But they still accepted the device based on the serial number.

[Q] Nexus 10 battery issues

Hi everyone,
I have an issue with my nexus that i'm looking for a little imput on. My nexus was doing fine when a number of things changed so i'm not sure what might be causing the issue. I bought a pogo charger and upgraded to 4.4.3. I had excellent battery life (used device all day and battery lasted all day) until 2 weeks after making those changes.
Suddenly, i started experiencing random crashes and reboots many times a day and about 10 days ago, the tablet won't stay on if not plugged in. sometimes the tablets screen will flicker and go off immediately after being unplugged, sometimes it'll go off after a few minutes. With the battery flunctuating between 0% charged or fully charged.
Since then i have called both google and samsung, who proved to be extremely useless not i'm out of warrantee. I've upgraded to 4.4.4, didn't work, flashed 4.4.3 and 4.4.2, and neither have worked.
So i'm thinking its a firmware issue and i'm just going to replace the battery. So my question is: Do you think this is an internal problem or just a bad battery and could it have been caused by the pogo charger?
I've been searching these forums for quite sometime and they've proved really helpful for tutorials on flashing stock images and such. Thank you so much (in advance) for your help!
Yea it most definitely could be a battery issue. If you the right tools you might want to pop off the back and take a look inside for any loose wires, bad connections etc.. I can relate to the battery issues but what you have going on is most likely a hardware problem.
I had excessive battery drain and freeze ups when I updated to 4.4.3. I've gone back to 4.4.2 and no issues, I did do a wipe when installing 4.4.2 but it was worth it for me.

Battery drops from 30 to 0 in minutes

Hello,
I have a problem with battery, it drains normally until it reaches 40 or 30 percent, after that it suddenly start dropping rapidly until it shuts off in just a few minutes and acts like dead. I think this started happening after MM update, I've found several answers online but none of them is from an active Note 4 user but from tech specialist, suggesting it might be both a battery problem or a software problem too. Also, some people state that a new battery solved the problem, but also many of them bought the new OEM battery but the problem still exists even with the new battery.
Does any of the users on xda have the same issue after MM? I don't want to waste money for a new battery if it's not a battery problem. And again, I dont know if and when will Samsung release an update for this kind of bug if its a software thing... I would like to know if I'm alone with this and hear some thoughts on buying a new battery or no?

It's your battery!
Your battery has deteriorated to a point that it only hold around 70% of its original capacity.
I have 4 original batteries which 2 of them are new & 2 of them are old, deteriorated ones.
One of them only holds around 70% like yours & one of them holds around 90%.
The new ones.....they works perfectly.
They holds around 99%.
Remember that lithium batteries deteriorates through time whether you use it or not.
Thanks for your opinion.
Once it also happened that my battery level was showing 50% and in the middle of browsing, my display went black, touch keys working and display is completely black. Even after a couple of restarts and cache wipe from recovery it remained black after booting, while the screen was working properly on the boot and showing samsung logos and all. I assumed there's a voltage problem, but I still was not sure is it a defective battery or system not reading the level of it properly. Never happened before with any of my previous Samsungs.
I've got almost same problem as @ljubimci.
The only problem is that I bought new battery (from samsung shop, 100% original not fake) and it dies even faster then my old one
The bigest drops are when i use high demanding aps, especially camera (4k recording) then it can drop from 60-70% to 0 in "0 minutes". This started to happen to me on MM, so i downgraded to LP (5.1.1) Nothing changed... And at the end i've changed my ROM to stock, unrooted 4.4.4 (ANK4). Problem still existing End the last biggest problem of them all is that i've lost somwhere my receipt, so i can't give samsung my battery back ;-(
I know that to some people changing ROM's help, to some new battery help, and it looks like to me only xda can help Is there a possibilty that new battery is damaged, or maybe there are any kind of fixes?

Samsung Note 4 N910C battery drain

Hello and Happy New Year to all,
*
I came across an issue with my Note's (N910C) battery today and I would like your opinion on it.
*
A quick background:
*
The phone has never been rooted.
9-10 months ago I downloaded an official firmware (6.0.1) which I flashed via Odin and it began to drain the battery very fast, killing the phone in less than a day.
I got a new battery, but the problem was still there.
Eventually I tried another firmware which worked nicely and consumption returned to normal levels. Since then, I had no problems whatsoever.
Yesterday night I got a notification to update. I had already done another two in the past - if I'm not mistaken - , without noticeable difference.
I did the update overnight and I removed the charging cable in the morning. It seemed that it was a little warmer than usual, but I did not pay attention.
The battery percentage was reducing at the rate of 1% per minute and it died within 2 hours.
I checked battery info, nothing abnormal.
I have two questions:
*
1. Does anyone have similar experience with this model (or other)?
2. If I reinstall the previous firmware, normally the problem should be fixed, right? I mean it started after an official update which AFAIK affects native apps only.
*
Thank you in advance
I have noticed on my Note 4, after upgrading to marshmallow, the battery drained like crazy too. It would drain 10-20% when I use it for 20 mins or so. The battery that I'm using is a 'new' one that I bought just about a year ago although the problem still occurred when it was fairly new.
I'm speculating that there might be some sort of battery or software issue with marshmallow as the original battery that came with the phone also had the same issue. It would drain fairly quickly until one day it just stopped working and would boot loop until I plugged it in to the charger.
Ever since marshmallow, I have never seen my battery get to 15% before switching off completely. Sometimes even 45% lol.

I had a faulty N910F and got another (used) one and it's had occasional forced closes at between 15-20%. This worries me that it might go the way of the old one where it developed the issues with it freezing and the frequent reboots....does yours exhibit any other issues?

Yes. Unfortunately. Currently, it would just die halfway even when I'm at 50%? That's the highest that I've noticed. So I had to charge it up for a bit maybe to 60% and it would be fine before dying around the 20+ - 40% mark. Previously, the original battery that came with the phone had this weird issue where the battery won't hold any charge even when it's fully charged. Like it will go to a bootloop when I've unplugged it even though it's at 100%. When I bought the new, current battery I noticed that it would still die off at 15-20% and the original battery became bloated a few months later.
Are you using any custom roms? The bootloops and freezing could be related to using some custom roms. I changed from a N7 port to a deodexed stock rom and the frequency of the freezing and reboots just plummeted. Reboots only happening when the battery is close to dying.

Ah right, so you had only the reboots, nothing else? That's fair enough.
No, it's nothing at all to do with the ROM. I'm stock but LOTS of people have had the same issue. As it stands, the only way to fix it is to get a new mobo :crying:

Well besides the usual overheating that's related to our snapdragon CPU, nothing much but mostly battery issues.
Although there is thread that I'm following that promises to fix the 15-20% issue. Checking their method to see if it works or not

hey can you give me the link of that firmware that improved your battery life
I had a similar problem with fast battery drain - did a factory reset and it's back to normal. Make sure you're using a battery from a reputable source like RavPower (don't think there are any genuine Samsung ones left and Anker stopped making them).

If you're not rooted, you can use the ADB commands to get the enhanced statistics, this is explained in the app. User Guide: http://blogger.gsamlabs.com/2011/11/badass-battery-monitor-users-guide.html
This will help you understand what app or aspect of your device is draining the battery, and also show you when it is using doze, deep sleep etc.

Anyone have charging issues?

Sometimes it'll die on my kind of quick without me realizing and when I plug it back in to charge, it'll sit and 0% and not charge, and the ETA for a full charge is N/A. Anyone have similiar issues? Would that be ROM/kernel related, or strictly hardware based?
I bought LE X720 for my wife.
I tried different versions of the original rom and with all the phone's battery was not charging normally.
I did downgrade to CN-5.8.017S, the problem continued. Then i upgraded to version CN-5.8.018S, the problem continued.
Now I'm using a version EUI 5.8.21s LEX720/727 USA. The charging problem continues and battery drain very quickly.
Every time I reboot the phone before plugging it in to the charger.
Do not buy this phone model - LE ZL1 X720. It is a great disappointment.
well, its not a constant thing for me, just sometimes. And the reason i got the x720 over the usa x727 version was the 6gb ram vs 4gb ram I believe was the difference. It also has dual SIm but ive no need for that. I wish I wouldve gotten the 128gb version but either I couldn't find it at the time, or it was more than i wanted to spend at the time. Still, for ~$250 im quite happy with this phone. Except I didnt order a hard case, thinking the case for my S3 would fit it, but the camera spot is slightly different.
This issue is known for at least a year, just don't use LeEco provided charger and cable and buy some better ones and you won't have that problem anymore.
For a better battery life don't use stock ROM, flash some custom ROM like Lineage 15.1. I get almost 10 hours of SOT on LOS15.1.

Absolutely!
The problem is not from charger and cable. I trying the charger and cable from my phone - ZUK Z2, the battery is continuing to not charging. After rebooting, the battery is charging normally.
Also i do not have charging issues with Android Oreo based custom roms. But with custom roms a battery drain very quickly.
With stock ROM i get about 2 days battery life, if phone not used too much.
Compared to the ZUK Z2, this ZL1 X720 is a huge disappointment.
Use the *Battery calibration* root app from google and follow the instructions after flashing your new rom.
Im using the Pie rom by mcintosh and average roughly 7-9 hours sot with 40% brightness and location on with moderate use
im happy with the phone for the most part, and the S3. I wonder if LeEco is still going to be making new phone models with that whole in debt thing i read about. Btw, do any of yall know what the Performance rating of your ram is in the Memory section? i attached a screenshot
