Bluetooth switching off, stock phone - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, I wonder if any of you have seen issues with bluetooth turning off? It seems random, it will stay on all morning on my desk at work, I go out to the car and it turns off. I've even had it turn off in the middle of a conversation (via bluetooth) in my car.
Any places I can check for stuff that has permissions to BT or anything like that?
I can wipe it but I'd rather not.
Anyway thanks for your time.

I have the same issue and after looking extensively for a solution, I found out that this is a problem with the Nexus 6P - many, many, users have had this issue. I have tried to wipe the cache partition, delete all pairings and even a factory reset but nothing had resolved the issue.

Ahh, bloody thing eh?
OK mate, thank you very much. I'll try one of those tasker type apps that will be set to keep the BT on.
Thanks mate.

Delay in answering calls with data connected

So I am having this new problem ever since I have data. When it is connected, which is all the time, it takes ~3-4 seconds to actually answer a phone call after pressing the answer button. If i turn off data, picks right up. anyone else ever have a problem answering calls with data connected?
If you dont have problems, can you please comment that you dont so i know other people's phones are working. thanks
Slow to answer calls
I am having the same problem. I noticed it first when I installed the 3.16 rom with GPS so wondered if that was the culprit.
i think it is occurring when you are connected to data. i turned it off and works better, but i dont want to have to turn my data off i just started paying for it and love having it.

I recently started seeing this also.
I'll try turning the data off and see if it goes away.
By chance do you have Advance Configuration installed?

I do as well...
Perhaps I'll try uninstalling and see if there's a change. Or is this something else I should know?
well...i did a hard reset, installed everything BUT the advance configuration thing...all working great. Plus i had a problem with the backlight being disabled, now that works fine. guess that Schaps Advance configuration program screws up a lot. Thanks for thinking of it
Mine was doing the same thing and I looked all over and found in ppcgeeks that several people found that advanced configuration was the cause. You have to do a hard reset. I unistalled it and did a hard reset and installed all the same programs except that and bam the issue was fixed. What a pitty because I praise Schaps Advanced configuration. It makes it a lot easier to change settings. I am not sure of the exact issue or if it has been fixed but not installing it fixed my issue.
I cant find the link that I read before, but here is a link that states it too. Do a backup of your phonedo a hard reset install all the apps but Advanced Config and see if it helps. Worst case restore the backup.

I'm having the same issues.
Delay only happens when data is active.
Running DCD 2.3.1, Radio 3.27, and I do have Advanced configuration installed.
I cooked in Advanced Config, so I have to reflash to take it out. If you find an easier way of isolating the problem I'd love to hear it. Otherwise I'll have to flash with nothing and add slowly till I determine the culprit.

S7 Edge Issues

Hi All,
I've had the S7 Edge now for 3 months and I am generally loving the phone. However I have a few issues that are happening continoulsy:
Bluetooth turns itself on and the volume of the phone mutes itself.
Wifi turns itself off during the night even though I've selected the option to keep it on. I will wake in the morning and the phone is using my mobile providers data.
I have read various threads to factory reset the phone which I will do if it resolves the issues but I want to ensure my Apps return with the data they currently have residing in them e.g. 1Password etc.
Hoping someone has some thoughts,
Thanks.
CL
Did those issues always occur or start only recently?
Hi,
From memory they have always been there. I've just lived with them but they are becoming annoying.
Thanks.

this is not a common issue and I believe you got a defective unit. you should take it back to make warranty claim
I'll have a word with Samsung support. I would have thought that the software was telling it to do these things.

In the wifi settings, try disabling wifi smart network and setting also wifi always active on standby (the actual menu setting names might differ, I translated from italian).

Unfortunately I've tried all of those to no avail. Today the phone has 4 times muted itself and in addition Bluetooth has turned itself on automatically. All bizarre!
Do you use the edge panel "My Places?" This can change those settings based on location.

Unfortunately not I don't use it. I wish I did as that may be an answer! It happens all over to be honest and isn't linked to a certain location. It's very odd as I can be using the phone and suddenly it turns mute on. Sometimes bluetooth will turn on with it and sometimes not. Its frustrating as I am now missing calls and texts.
Appreciate any feedback.

Apps - application manager - apps that can change system settings. (names my differ. Translated from my language). See if any user app that you installed is enabled in there or try troubleshoot by disable one at a time.

Okay I've disabled them all for now. If things stop working I'll enable them one by one. There were a few that had access. Appreciate your help.
Just as an aside what is the best way to factory reset the phone and then reinstall the apps etc that I had installed. I'm thinking worst case if what you have proposed doesn't work? I had an iPhone prior to this and it was a pretty straight forward process.
Thanks.

I'm not TOTALLY sure, but I think that if you're logged in with your google account and go into settings->Backup and choose to backup to your google account, your app data should follow. After the backup is finished, factory reset and then when you log into your google account again you get an option to retrieve your old app+data.
Don't hang me up on this, as i'm not totally sure! But i THINK it works this way. Google at least mention app data in the decription, but well, not sure if everything follows.

BT keeps turning off

For the past few days, my BT setting keeps turning itself off every few hours. Once it happens, it then continues to turn itself off immediately each time I re-enable it. After an hour or so, it recovers and lets me turn it back on (until the next time a few hours later).
The phone is completely stock (APK1), never rooted, no 3rd-party power-saving, task-managing, or security apps ever installed, no power-saving modes turned on. It does not help to clear the system cache or the Bluetooth Share cache. Closing all open apps does not help. Rebooting sometimes helps temporarily, sometimes not even temporarily. I haven't seen the problem when I reboot in Safe Mode, so either it's caused by an app (I have hundreds), or else I just didn't leave it in Safe Mode for long enough for the problem to reappear. I have not recently installed any apps or made any settings changes. I've searched online and come across many suggestions but none are applicable and successful here.
Is there a system log somewhere that would tell me what is turning off the BT setting?

Wouldn't that delete all my WiFi passwords? I find several online mentions of people who unsuccessfully tried Reset Networks to solve BT problems, and no mentions of it being successful.

Try one more thing : Settings-> Applications-> in right top corner you have 3 dots, press and choose Show System Apps
scroll to Bluetooth share , click on it then click on Storage and Clear Data. go back and do same with Bluetooth Test.
Thanks, but that didn't help either. I found the culprit, though: the Walgreens app. When I force-stop it and then turn on BT, BT stays on. As soon as I start the app again, BT turns off. And I now see many other user reports of this problem, going back a couple of months.
It's annoying that without the user's knowledge or consent, Android gives an app unnecessary permission to turn BT off. What's worse is that there's no easy way to identify who turned it off.

There is an app in the store called App Brain Ad Detector.
After you install it you can scan all your installed apps and it will break down all permissions given to each app, show which ad network, etc. It is very useful!
Also after it is installed when you install a new app it will report if it does things not normal.. IE it would probably have caught that BT permission!

Bluetooth toggle

Hey there everyone, I have a 16 GB version in my pocket and i'm using it for 10 months, from yesterday my bluetooth toggle just have been stocked. it doesn't turn on anymore, and I'm always on my bluetooth headphones so it is on my nerves badly...i tried 3rd party apps to turn the bluetooth on, but they just stop at "turning bluetooth on" and nothing changes. i've reset network setting and nothing changed, i used to turn on safe mode and still the same problem. Is there any way to fix it out rather than factory reset? or anyone is sure that a factory reset would fix it?
my phone is not rooted. and is on nougat.
thanks

Is the haptic feedback on opening recents menu new? Or just stronger than before?

Anyone else's Bluetooth totally screwed up after update? After update, Bluetooth turns on by itself, won't add new devices, and won't auto connect to devices?

Mine has been pretty flaky as well. It seems to connect most of the time, but if I call with my android auto head unit, even though it says it's using bluetooth, the sound still comes out of the speakers. Sometimes a toggle of the bluetooth switch fixes it, sometimes it needs a reboot. I may factory reset and see if it clears up.

I don't have problem with the Bluetooth.
Using my Sony ch700n without a problem..
Mmm... I'll be waiting for more feedback before applying the update. Hope it's just specific issue with device because I use BT every day...
Still haven't been able to fix Bluetooth issues. First I reset all the network settings. Not fixed. Then I factory reset without restore. No fix. Finally factory reset with restore. No fix. Contacted support last night with no answer yet. Will have to resort to back up phone until there is a solution.

Nope, all good here. How did you take the update, ota or fastboot?
At this point my Bluetooth is behaving normally. All though I never have had any of the previous Bluetooth or wifi issues people have posted about. Totally stock locked bootloader with February update.
As of this Monday Miracast on my PH-1 is totally flakey. Since it uses Bluetooth I guess this is part of the update bug. The problem I'm getting is casting crapping out, for no reason, rotating the phone, or just launching the app that I want to cast. Any possible fixes?

I'm kind of wondering if it has something to do with my Wear OS watch being connected. May have to disable it for a day and see if it makes a difference. Worked perfectly before the update though.
Edit: I played a little. If I turn off Bluetooth on my watch, then pair with my Bluetooth headphones calls work normally, if I connect to the buds while connected to the watch, no-go. Very odd as well is that the watch won't connect then while connected to the buds, once I disconnect them, it connects fine. I'll try with my truck at lunch and see if I can repeat this there.
mine seems do not have the Bluetooth issue.
new update seem to be more aggressive on turning off nfc . in the past, i do not have to wake on phone to 'tap' (as a smart card) on chargepoint ev charger. now i have to at least wake up phone to do so.
i noticed on essential website. the OTA file for February is only Open Market. the others have said Alll. Whats the difference anyone know.
After I have installing the update patch, the usage of battery is a bit faster than before. The sot drop from 4 hours to 2 and a half hours. Is there getting The same issue?
