Hello friends! I really hope someone can help me with this issue. My mother has my old Samsung Note 3. For the last couple of weeks anytime she gets a text message the message notification tone plays but so does her incoming call ringtone. On top of that, the call ringtone won't stop playing. We can put the phone on silent but the ringtone won't actually stop until she restarts the phone.
A little background: I had the phone maybe a year before the note 4 came out and I immediately upgraded so she's had the phone I guess maybe two years. My phone was on Verizon. My mom has T-Mobile prepaid service. We've never had any problems until this. Well because she has prepaid she uses a Wi-Fi texting app called TextPlus or something like that. Again never any problems until a couple weeks ago. I asked her if she updated anything, I've checked all of her settings in the phone and the app. I even set the call ringtone to silent and sent a text and it still did it. It's not so much the ringtone as it is that it won't stop. We've even left it sitting for over an hour and it was still ringing.
What can I do to try to fix this? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

I am fairly new to ppc's I owned a 8125 for a few days decided it wasn't for me, I recently decide to give them a try again, so I got an 8525, While I really like the phone there is 1 issue I just can't handle.
If the device goes to sleep or is locked & someone calls or sends a sms, the phone will not ring or vibrate. I can't handle this. I setup new txt messages to ring & vibrate but it will only work if the device is active. Same with incoming calls.
Can someone please help me with this major issue?

Do you accidentally have them diverted to another phone or something? Really strange... Can you ring him?
The exact same thing happened to me a couple of days ago. The missus wanted to know why I hadn't rung her back, but I had no missed calls. I got my brother to ring me, stood next to me and it was showing it was ringing on his phone, bit my phone was oblivious to it! A reboot fixed it, but there's no way of knowing if it had happened. I could still send and receive texts.
A similar thing happened to me 2 days ago. The phone wouldn't ring, even when I called it from a different phone, but I did get a missed call notification. I had to restart and then re-choose a ring tone and then it worked again. I have no idea how this all of a sudden happened as I didn't change anything in the phone.
Were you using GPRS connection at the time? Because when connected to GPRS, and data is actively being sent/received, the phone will not respond and the caller will get an engaged tone.
This is ONLY when data is being sent/received, and only on GPRS, not 3G/HSDPA (Edge i'm not sure about)
Edit - this is based on quite old information from my early days with GPRS, you might want to check it.
I don't know what connection I was on, but I wasn't sending an engaged tone. Anyone ringing me had the ring tone, just no answer (obviously really as I couldn't answer even if I knew it was ringing!)
i have the same problem here. did anyone solve this yet?
thanks.
Is the "phone/ ring sound" switched of?
A very strange and random thing has started to happen to my Nexus S - I like to keep my phone on vibrate / no ring but about a week ago, everytime I make a call and hang up or a call comes in and ends, the profile will automatically switch from vibrate to ring.
This has been very annoying as it has caused my phone to ring at a meeting for example and at night when I'm sleeping. Has anyone had this problem? I haven't loaded any new programs that might affect ringtone...the only thing I have that controls ringtone in any form would be widgetlocker and TouchPal dialer - I've tried default dialer and it does the same thing as well.
Might be something obvious so if anyone knows, please inform me. Much appreciated!
im experincing the same thing on HTC Desire CDMA as well......it annoying as hell....i work for a funeral home and cant really have my phone to ring
The culprit is...
Touchpal. I have it as well, and I have this same problem. Checking reviews since the last update, which just so happened to be when this problem started, a lot of people are mentioning it.
i have the same issue, any solution??
Ok this is a really odd problem that I am having with my galaxy S4, running 4.4.2 NO custom roms/root or anything like that.
So whenever I get a phone call (this just started happening a few weeks ago) and I'm on the 'vibrate' profile, the phone will get the incoming call with the person's face on the screen showing me that the call is coming in, like normal. However, the phone does not vibrate at all, in fact, I see the silent logo on the top notification bar (even though the phone was on vibrate) and once I answer the call, the silent symbol is replaced by the vibrate one. This is only occurring with phone calls, not texts or other app notifications. So to recap: phone will not vibrate for incoming calls even though it is set to do so. Anybody have any idea of what is going on?!
Thanks.
If I have the phone in vibrate or silent and someone calls me, the next notification or call I get from someone else will sound, and the ringtone volume is set 1 step above vibrate, which is highly annoying and frustrating, also happens randomly when using any sort of media volume (game, video etc), anyone else have this problem, or can anyone test it out? I always have my phone on vibrate so it's a major inconvenience for me, maybe not as much others that use their ringtone...
Samsung said on the first day: software issue, will be fixed in 1-2 weeks, called 2 weeks later, same answer and now their offering a replacement where I get to send my 1k $ phone in for "repairs" for 7-10 business days excluding shipment.... nice...
