Viper4Android on Marshmallow 6.0.1 N910C ? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
does anyone know how to install viper4android into SM-N910C 6.0.1 Stock *properly*?
I have root, busybox, ViPER4Android-supolicy zip installed and it starts ok but after a song or two it goes back to Processing: NO.

Hi,
Try with a custom kernel. A permissive one. I know it might be a painful but it's a way that works.
Good luck.

Thanks, but the ViPER4Android-supolicy zip took care of selinux
Also, if anyone's interested I've finally managed to make it work permanently. You need to remove the deep buffer stuff from audio_policy.conf (placed at system/etc) with a root explorer, AND remove/uninstall/disable SoundAlive in system apps.

Could use some help guys. Trying to get viper/ARISE running on a note edge (sprint). I've done everything to meet every prereq. I have root. I have busybox. I have permissive SELinux. I've done all the build.prop and audio_policy.conf edits. I've flashed a billion different zips. Nothing's working. Viper says the driver is installed and processing correctly, but none of the sound coming out of the speakers or headphones is actually viper-processed sound. I'm on Marshmallow (6.0.1) and running Emotion Kernel. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Reactivation Lock not working after root

hello guys,
I rooted my Note 4 SM-N910C yesterday, and everything was fine until now. I saw that reactivation Lock(can't flash via odin when it's on) was off, so I tried to turn it on, but it was not working. I tried everything, but without sucess. I tried to flash a stock firmware from sammobile, and after that, it was working, so I rooted again and It's not working anymore.
So, someone knows a way to root and get it working? Did you have this problem too?
help me :/

Same here, maybe installing xposed and putting a request for a module? although s health and private mode don't work on my note 4 either (xposed running)

this is a kernel related, I think. Everybody says that it still working on Snapdragon's Note 4, but here at Exynos, you can't activate it.

I dont think it is that, I have a friend with the same model that us, and the activation works on his phone :s
So, guys, have anyone solved this problem?
I also have rooted Note 4 and neither "Remote controls" nor "reactivation lock" can I activate...
reactivetion lock not working
I also encountered a similar case but only used through l launch , give me one new idea when it dies in it :good:
Guys, has anybody solved this problem?
Here I am, rooted GS5 with MM fw, before root it worked, as it did with lollipop and kitkat.
After root it doesn't turn on anymore, I reflashed stock recovery too. I guess it's related to knox 0x1, with rooted knox 0x0 kitkat and lollipop I could enable it.
Or maybe it's kernel related, so systemless root with stock kernel could be the solution
Good news, after reflashing a stock firmware I could enable RL back. So it's not knox related but root related. Tomorrow I'll try with systemless root

I think what is needed it to copy your stock recovery from an official touchwiz rom and flash it. You will need a tar.gz converter to flash it via odin. Sometime ago I tried it where your root remains but you have a stock recovery. I believe all those Samsung security features like Reactivation Lock relies on a stock recovery and not a custom like ( TWRP/CWM)

I reflashed stock recovery but still no luck. It's root related, or better kernel related, as someone posted above. I'm on systemless root and it shows "warranty bit kernel" message at boot. With rooted lollipop and stock kernel/recovery it worked

Just flash supersu beta via twrp
You must have stock boot.img, I suggest reflashing the entire stock firmware if you did some modifications

Look...i am currently rooted. I have twrp 3.0 and i flashed super su beta. I dont have any modified or special kernels of that sort...just root. So are you telling me all i need to do is flash the original touchwiz boot.img from the marshmallow rom file ( i will have to go convert it to a Tar file) ???.... And that will give me the ability to stay rooted and be able to use reactivation lock again ???

N910C 6.0.1 Root Issues

Current Specs:
Note 4 N910C Flashed with N910CXXU2DPCB (Marshmallow) ROM
Bootloader: TWRP V3.0.0.0
Rooted with SuperSU V2.71
Busy Box installed and updated to latest
I'm currently unable to move normal apps over to system apps - as soon as the app is transferred via either an app like Luckypatcher, System app converter or any other commercially available play store app, it disappears off the launcher screen. When I try to install the apps directly via an app like System apps installer it gives me an error saying that is unable to read/write to system. When doing a manual transfer to the system/apps folder and setting the permissions to 644 it doesn't seem to install to the system and causes the phone to go into a bootloop if the permissions are set differently. The files some times appear in the system/apps folder and sometimes not when using standard transfer apps.
It also loses root at certain periods and needs a restart and some apps seems do not detect busy box even thought its installed.
I have re flashed the phone numerous times with either a complete fresh flash to a flash over from 5.1.1.
When doing the same root structure on 5.1.1 everything works 100%.
Is any one else experiencing this or have any way around the problems ? I'm not sure where to start looking as it seems to be a combination of possibilities or just that the guys like chainfire has caught up with the changes on the N910C 6.0.1 system and ironed out all the kinks yet ?
Same problem for me. Did you get a solution?

Maybe Samsung had a silent update for the N910C or something.
EDIT: Guys, I installed Hani's H-Vitamin kernel for 6.0.1 and root works again for me. Thought you might want to know. I think we're losing Root on Stock due to an updated SE-Linux policy which overwrites patches made by SuperSu to work on an enforcing kernel, but using this custom kernel on Stock seems to solve the issue.

Xposed Framework on a G7-L01

Hello, I am curious to know if anyone has tried the Xposed Framework on a G7-L01 and if so, what if any issues they have come across?
I've been following Xposed Framework v82-Huawei for EMUI 3.1/4.0 and I'm about ready to jump in and install the framework, but just want to check with other users first
Any advice would be appreciated :good:
Hi, I successfully installed Xposed on my G7 and it is working without issues. Just not getting CM13 installed somehow but at least am on rooted stock version.

Excellent, held off on mine just till the weekend, but can I ask you, for the G7 did you use the ARM or the ARMx64 zip? I'm thinking the ARM is correct, but might be wrong.

Had a go with Magisk, v7 went on no problem. I then flashed the modded Xposed and lost root. I had put SuperSU as user app, but was not interested in using the systemless SuperSU and suhide, but by not using them, that possibly led to the root going. Will keep an eye on Magisk though, interesting development.
Restored backup and went with the ARM version of Xposed Framework v86 proper and so far OK, root stayed anyway which was main thing.
I've only tried XToast module, to test and it is not fully working for me. Will try another few modules before I decide if I want to try systemless again.

Any recomendations for good working Xposed modules for the G7?
Main reason I want to try it, is lack of custom roms for this device, so might as well mod the stock rom to suit myself.
I have Viper4Android, on and working, but looking for a way to automate the selinux enforcing for it through an Xposed module, but any other suggestions are welcome

Hey aStRaL_dRaGoN, thanks for the reply and the offer. I went with normal Xposed and normal root in the end and so far all is OK.
I don't play Pokémon Go or have any banking apps that would require me to go fully systemless just yet. I did try it out though and Magisk, went on OK, no problems, the issue arose when I flashed the modded Xposed zip, I lost root then. I can only assume it was because I did not have SuperSU, fully systemless, I had just not made it a system app, I left it as a user app. Maybe some other time though I'll go back to the Magisk route and if I have any problems, I'll ask you, thank you :good:

Bypass Safety Net root check (for Pokemon) on Lollipop?

Hello. I am running Alliance ROM, with an OH4 build and an OD5 bootloader. My phone has been rooted forever, and I can't remember which root method I used, but I know that I can ODIN an NI2 kernel and get to Safestrap. I've never gotten Xposed to work properly.
There are a lot of threads about using Magisk, but everything talks about it needing some sort of "Systemless root". I'm not sure what that means. Is that some newfangled root method that everyone is using now? I have SuperSU pro 2.78. How do I know if it's Systemless?
Can anyone decipher the Magisk thread and tell me if it will work with this phone? Or are there any other methods that will work?

i dont know if it will work with pokemon go or not but here is a way to hide root you would have to downgrade to super su 2.77 or earlier though to use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/suhide-t3450396
Magisk works if you have an unlocked bootloader. I am using it on my s5 with Pokémon. It's fairly straightforward with twrp to setup. I am on resurrection remix.

Maybe I am not erasing all the su files, but even with magisk installed, regardless of being on a stock rom or a custom rom, i can't get it to work.
I assumed that magisk working means that magisk is working properly and...should, in theory, allow me to play pokemon go.
I guess I'll just have to hope they repeal it, mostly because iphone has so many hacks....not requiring jailbreak.

My S5 has locked bootloader =(
Magisk requires unlocked bootloader +TWRP
Suhide requires android 6.0+
If you can get TWRP on your S5 you are good to go to play POGO
1.Uninstall xposed and Majisk and Supersu(i used http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3528363&d=1446472307
2.Reflash whatever rom you are on(if using rooted rom(like cm13) reflash unsu.zip and delete the SU binaries or anything that says "su" from /system/bin & /system/xbin & /data with TWRP file browser)
3.TWRP shell, type
echo SYSTEMLESS=true > /data/.supersu
4.Flash SuperSU. only this version http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133
5.Reboot to system once before going back to recovery.
6.Flash Magisk v7, then suhide v.54, then Xposed Systemless). Reboot to system.(do not flash batch)(flash each individually)
7.Install Magisk Manager v2.apk
8.Install Material Design Xposed Installer apk
9. i like the "Snorlax" xposed mod
=)
*also earlier today Magisk v6 + Suhide v.54 +xposed was working fine but i went ahead and updated to new verrsions to hopefully stay ahead of safety net
*also here is oudated thread where i learned this method...my steps slightly different and use updated links
*also some report problem with xposed systemless v86.6 ... redo all steps with v86.2
*also xposed not required for POGO (just ignore all xposed entries in setup for working POGO and root) but who doesnt want xposed =P

Magisk on the Verizon Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900V)

I did root by following instructions from this thread.
I just noticed that Netflix is no longer working.
I was wondering if anyone has successfully installed Magisk on the Verizon Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900V) or any other suggestions to get apps like Netflix to work properly.
first off what rom are you on? and or android version. 2nd are you using the latest version of Netflix? third what is the exact issue you are having with Netflix? (errors, etc..)

Netflix blocks rooted devices now. Apparently you have to run something to hide the fact that you are rooted.
I have heard you can do this with Magisk
I am really thinking about unrooting now but i don't know how.
also, i accidentally posted this under general and should have posted it under Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

magisk has an uninstaller zip you flash via twrp however im not 100% sure if it works correctly due to odexed rom as xposed has this issue as far as installing or uninstalling.

assuming you have not tried to install magisk:
if you have the bootloader unlocked and are on lollipop or below bootloader (in case it relocks doubt that it will) and not just safe strapped and have TWRP or a custom recovery installed i'd say make a full backup via recovery and then attempt to install magisk the usual way and if you hit a snag or bootloop restore the backup and reach out to the official magisk thread for getting it installed..magisk thread: "Magisk" best i can suggest as it seems these threads are like a ghost town a lot of the time. lol
I am rooted have been for years, Netflix works fine.
