Hi so after i flashed cyanogenmod on my gs4 international version i cant get any cellular connection at all. there are no bars and im im unable to make calls or send sms. my baseband and imei are unknown. i did a surf on google. I tried to backup efs folder with efspro while on stock rom and then restore when i used cyanogenmod. EFSprogam cant connect to my phone eventhough busybox and debug usb is set. i tried to manually change apn but still a no go. So is there a problem with my efs folder? Hope to find a solution soon since cm rocks..
mine also having same issue last week..after flashing some mods my s4 suddenly lost connection.Bar signal up and down like crazy. When i try to access ussd code it show "no network registered".
I try everything such as flash stock rom few times, wipe data/factory reset and do rooting process on every stock roms. But it seems noting chg..At last i send to Samsung service centre to check wht going on with my s4..After half an hour it done..everything back to nornal.I ask to tech person, they inf. that my S4 just missing few digit of imei..So, they might do recovery imei.
My S4 rockin' again.

How to exactly "update recovery"?
thx
Hi guys been searching all day when I can grab some free WiFi, basically I rooted my s4 gti9505 with auto root and then installed custom recovery, and flashed PAC rom. I'm unable to make calls or receive mobile data but can use WiFi. My settings say baseband unknown .. I'll attach a picture of my settings here in this thread. I have attempted to flash a modem/radio in Odin but this didn't seem to make any difference, the problem is I'm not sure if it was the right thing to do (didn't make a back up of my phone foolishly before flashing PAC rom)
I'd appreciate any help with this guys! My network is vodaphone UK if that makes any difference to any advice given...
Thanks in advance!

will do this too, have just finished flashing MGA modem twice using your steps, will flash rom again..i wonder if i should wipe/factory wipe as i would when installing new rom...ill try it!
no luck -still no network. im running out of ideas
network - unknown
mobile network type - unknown
imei unknown
imei sv - unknown
going out now for a while but thought id ask - do you think that installing official stock rom (perhaps from your s4 unrooting guide) would help flashed via odin? from searching i can see that some folk suggest that stock will reinstall everything i need...im hoping so, i really wouldnt mind going back to stock, anythings better than this

did you put modem in "phone" in odin?
hmmm weird! i guess your imei is not corrupted, sometimes while flashing rom in cwm, efs partition is not detected, so flashing modem twice should work
you can try with an other modem, use new one (but im sure to flash it twice)
another option is trying to flash your stock firmware

yes put it in "phone" mode, thats the second or third one i have flashed now so im not sure it wont help but for sure ill try again!
are you able to determine that its not corrupted? would it state as such if it were? im going to flash a stock firmware as a last resort. lost after that haha
edit - installed cwm using sgs4 flasher and re-installed my custom rom and gapps, booted no probs and network now working - sorted!! thanks for your help i dont think i would have reflashed the rom without your advice to do so
So I'm practically in the same boat. I'm currently on P.A.C. man nightly 09/18 (Vodafone Germany branded device). I never had similar problems, but now I can't call (or be called) and I'm not able to use mobile data.
I nearly tried everything:
1) I checked the IMEI (saved it before switching over to custom roms), but an IMEI number is still there.
2) Went back to stock to see if it's a problem of P.A.C. man ROMS or not. On stock it didn't work either.
3) Went back to P.A.C. man ROM and flashed modem XXUBMF8 via Odin 3.04 (from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192025)
4) Flashed the modem again after I flashed the ROM because it didn't work either.
So I'm completely lost now, I really don't know what to do next. I had mobile data for a couple of seconds every now and then, but nothing stable. And since the problem came up (yesterday evening) I can not make any calls at all.
Can someone help me?
Edit: The very strange thing is that I have full reception balks in the notification area (only in grey). But still, I guess this means that the device is somehow able to detect a signal but can not connect to it?
Edit2: I apparently have no Device-ID. May that be a problem?
So I took some screenshots to show you guys my problem a bit better. For some reason my mobile data now works (currently HSPA, but it's extremely slow). But I still can't make any calls (or get called too). =/
Edit: So to sum this up: the strangest thing about this problem is, that even when I go back to full stock I can't make calls. =/ What could be the problem? An IMEI number is present in the settings (althouh the 'IMEI SV' under 'About phone' --> 'Status' was one digit below the current one that I can see under those stats). The whole problem makes me believe that my provider can't sort my phone number to my device (I'm on Vodafone; but if that's really the case: why the hell does mobile data works sometimes?!). The other possibility: something with the modem/radio is broken. Could this be the problem? The thing is that I also tried to flash a custom modem, but the problem is still there...
I'm really concerned that my phone just became an expensive paperweight
Slightly different than my problem in that I didn't even have any bars for reception..my problem was fixed by changing the custom recovery software (originally I used philz to flash PAC), But I flashed cwm and then used this to again flash PAC, and all was good..don't ask my why but it helped me so you might want to try this...

Thank you for your answer!
You also flashed a different modem didn't you? Did this help or was it only the custom recovery? I'm confused because I used CWM before and never had problems. But then this mess all came up...
Yes I flashed several modems, that didn't help..only using a different custom recovery to flash my custom Rom again helped..hope you get sorted!

So I tried to flash PAC with TWRP 2.6.0 (it worked before), but the problem is still there.
I'm really confused. I really don't know what I can do or try to fix this mess... Is there some USSD code or something to find out if my device is missing some ID codes or if the modem is messed up or something?
Edit:
Update: For some reason I now can receive calls/SMS but only when I'm on GPRS speed. Outgoing and ingoing calls are no problem then. When my device is on HSPA or HSPA+ speed however, the old problem of not being able to call or be called is back. On one hand it's good that I'm somehow able to make calls again on the other hand it gets stranger and stranger. I know that it's a bug on PAC man ROMs that you can't change the mobile data speed options (LTE/HSPA/GPRS etc.), but I think that this could be the problem (or at least a part of it)...

Actually I can change the data in my phone between 3G and 2G (don't have LTE support here in my country)
Have you checked your APN? Think that might be a problem.
Also please post the steps you take before flashing PAC (ROM, kernel, recovery, etc)

Within Wireless & Networks --> Mobile Networks --> Network Mode? On PAC? It always crashes when I try to change something there. In the PAC bug post this seems to be a known bug, my mode is also set to GSM/WCDMA/LTE. But whenever I enter the settings to change this, only 'LTE' is chosen as option. I don't have LTE on my plan and I read somewhere else that Vodafone has major problems with it's LTE network here in Germany and that it may be better for customers without it to turn it off.
About APN: there is definitely something strange. I can enter the settings and I see three different APNs that were not created by me (they must be the standard carrier ones): they are called Vodafone DE (for Germany), 1und1 (pretty strange because the settings are the very same on this one, only the name is different) and Vodafone DE-MMS.
The strange thing now is that I can't change any value of the Vodafone DE APN... When I go into its settings, everything ia greyed out. This was the same on the stock ROM...
Now when I create a new APN with the correct provider settings (found via Google on the VF homepage), the phone still won't work. When I put the device aside for a few minutes, the Vodafone Deutschland DE APN is the selected APN again although I never went back to it...
Is there some option to take a deeper look into the modem stats to see what's the problem?

I tried that already, but it didn't help. Same problem...
I factory resetted the phone, wiped cache and dalvik cache and then flashed my Vodafone branded stock ROM via Odin that I had on my device when I got it. Didn't help for some reason... But: should I also try to go back to stock ROM via KIES? I haven't tried this method until now...
Edit: About my flashing method: I went from the stock ROM to rooted (via CF Auto root with Odin). For PAC I then flashed TWRP 2.6.0 and then in recovery factory resetted the phone, wiped cache and dalvik and then installed PAC. After that I installed GApps. I used this method before and it worked without any problems...
Edit2: I found this thread, it appears to be the same/a similar problem with the S3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1805709&page=6
Now is there something similar for the S4? I think I tried calling ##72786# on stock ROM and it didn't work...

Delete the unused APNs.
Do you have mobile data?
Also I asume that you're running the latest vertigo's build, because with me GSM/WCDMA/LTE is always selected.

Sometimes I have mobile data, but only for very limited time; for the majority of time, I don't have mobile data and can not make calls.
I also tried to delete the unused APNs, but still no change =/
I tried to use a different Micro SIM in this device, but the same problem appears. No data, no phone although I have grey reception balks.
any update on this one?!
Sim Unlock on UCUFNJ4 MDv1.2
What is the correct way to SIM unlock with this ROM? I've been using it for awhile with few issues except the phone stopping twice on boot before logging in. Annoying but I don't boot/reboot often. I'm switching carriers and do pay-as-you-go. I need to get this SIM unlocked fast. The *#0011# process doesn't work on this ROM. Can't get to the menu. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
You might need to be on stock, but go to this thread, read the OP and then post 77 (and maybe post 70). Can't hurt to try that method on MD v1.2 as all you're flashing is the modem.

YOU ROCK! Actually post 70 gave me what I needed.
permalink here = http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58490012&postcount=70
SUMMARY:
" I had to replace my S4 motherboard.. after getting a new motherboard.. it was locked and was on 4.4.4 FNJ4, and wanted to unlock it badly..
was sarching seaching...........i came to know the other free methods only work for 4.2.2 .so was think to downgrade the firmware
searching again and again how to rollback to 4.2.2 . having in mind that its tough. but luckly i found your thread. and followed the steps..
OMG !!!! it worked just perfect
1. i am on 4.4.4 FNJ4 firmware. and no simcards inserted
2. Rooted the Firmware by the guide from http://www.droidviews.com/root-att-g...e-i337ucufnj4/
3. installed SuperSU, Busybox from play store. and updated the binary and instlled busybox
4. installed safestrap recovery you attached.
5. boot into recovery and installed MF3 Modem, and reboot the system
6. installed region lock away app, and did region unlock. got success message.
7. and reboot again to recovery. installed FNJ4 modem, did system reboot. meanwhile in inserted different NetWork SIM
8. thats all my S4 accepted the SIM and unlocked.. "
This worked for me. I didn't even take out my AT&T GoPhone SIM until the end when I switched in TMob. APN picked up but network may need tweaking. I got data, confirmation texts from TM but haven't checked phone call yet.
MARKING AS SOLVED
Hi, this is one of my first threads so sorry if it doesn't turn out very well.
In this thread I'm going to teach you how to get a almost stock experience on your TextNow phone, without the TextNow Bloatwear. These steps will show you how to use Google Voice as the main VOIP, because TextNow is pretty $%&*.
Steps
You need TWRP before preceding with any of this, as the boot loader comes pre-unlocked, it's as easy as downloading minimal adb and fastboot (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790) getting TWRP for osprey (https://dl.twrp.me/osprey/twrp-3.1.1-0-osprey.img) and then going into minimal adb and fastboot and typing
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
twrp.img can be replaced with the exact location in the file directory if you don't want to put it in the Fastboot/adb folder, like fastboot flash recovery C://User/desktop/twrp-osprey.img
Now you are going to want to get your favorite custom rom for the Moto G, but this thread is made for lineage, so some things may not be covered in here if your ROM is different.
Here is a download to the Lineage nightly I use https://mirrorbits.lineageos.org/fu...neage-14.1-20170907-nightly-osprey-signed.zip.
In case you need to revert use this stock TextNow ROM
http://droid.textnow.com/textnow-motog3-4281.zip
Next Install your favorite GApps package, and for those with advanced knowledge on GApps remove the SMS app on the phone and don't replace it, It's useless with TextNow. (http://opengapps.org/?download=true&arch=arm&api=7.1&variant=stock)
Make sure to wipe the Cache!
After flashing both, boot up into it. Once in, configure the device to your liking, and put Google Voice on it.
If you have not yet configured Google Voice, you can using your SIM Card Number which can be found in About Phone -> Status -> SIM Status -> My phone number. This number is completely unrelated, but when called your phone will be rung.
Now set this number as your Device number, and set your Google Voice number to be used for all calls. Downloading TextNow is completely optional at this point, but it is necessary if you expect to receive and send texts with your TextNow number. Notice you will still receive calls that come in to your old number, but texts will be unavailable without TextNow.
The phone should now be TextNow free, unless you have installed it.
Known Issues
After installing it appears that although the phone is capable of 4GLTE it only displays that it's working with 3G. A speed test shows it is still going at 4G speeds. If anyone can find a fix to this that would be great.
Conclusion
That's a rap. Thanks for reading, if you have any problems I can try to help, feel free to comment below if it worked for you! :good:
Hello XDA,
I recently purchased a H910 from EBAY.
I was able to install Oreo and root it using the excellent tutorials before I was able to have a working sim card on hand so I cannot confirm if this phone was good or bad as I received it. I am using an activated ATT sim card and have used it in another phone with calls, texts, and data working. I have not for the life of me been able to get the any of these features to work on the H910. I have checked the APN settings, I have confirmed both the IMEI number and the sim ID number with ATT. The H910 is able to see the sim card but no mobile network is connected. I can use wifi calling and texting.
I did make a backup/dump of the phone and have flashed the modems, fsg, and misc images with no effect.
I have tried to restore to a stock image of 10q and 20G with the results ending in boot loops so I have not been able to test the stock firmware.
Is there any way to test for a hardware fault?
I would like to avoid returning this phone for something that could be fixed on my end.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ive had nothing but great luck getting phones off ebay, but it really sounds like you may have gotten a lemon.
The H910v20 is one of the easiest phones to root and return to stock the 20G rom should work and immediately ask to update to 20H with a AT&T sim in it.
taking the 20G to 20H update will insure you have all the correct modem files and APN.

clsA, Thank you for taking the time to reply, and for your excellent tutorials.
I tried both the stock(default) APN and manually entering the nxtgenphone APN info I was prompted by ATT but no change. Searches for a signal for about 30 seconds and the throws an x over the signal bars. The phone does detect the sim card and shows my phone number.
I do think it is hardware failure. All of the modem problems I have read have an error saying that the radio is off. I do not get this I get a message stating out of service. I also copied the Modem files from another stock H910 20H from a friend and that did not change anything. Their phone also shows signal bars even when the sim card is removed.
I checked the MD5 Hashes and they are correct on the SD card I was using. I saw no errors in TWRP and I tried 3 different flashing combos with both 10q and 20H. The first was to format device and then advance wipe system, cache, and dalvik, then flash, followed by format device. I then tried just format before and format after flashing, and then not formatting before and only formatting after and got the same boot loops with the 3 combos depending on whether I was using 10q or 20g. ie 2 different boot loops with the different zips. Once the boot loop started I could get to the stock recovery to "erase" the phone but that had no change. The only way I found to stop the loops was to flash the 996.kdz file using lgup and start over. The 20H file works perfectly. as does the 10R. It is really odd.
