If you are one of the millions of people playing Pokémon Go, you know accurate GPS tracking is the most important phone function in the game. So if GPS is working perfectly for you, post up the ROM version you use and for what model Note 3! Likewise if it's not, let us know. I am on the 900T using Temasek Cm13 v9.9 with it's kernel and having trouble with GPS... Any recommendations would be great!

I tried the Purify Cm13 ROM but when flashing the kernel it wouldn't boot.. so just using its stock kernel I'm still having trouble with GPS accurately pin pointing my location... What I'm doing for now is tethering my Note 3's LTE service to a Galaxy Avant (cheap phone not in service) but the GPS works perfectly on it. So the problem has to be with the GPS on my Note 3, and am hoping it's a software issue I can flash to fix.. I tried flashing the Alliance ROM and even going back to a stock 5.0 image, but it says Pokémon Go isn't compatible in the Playstore...

I updated from biggins to jasmine in hopes it would work. Biggins ran it fine up until this last update.
I was able to unlock my bootloader as well. But uninstalling the supersu fails and I cannot get further than that to even attempt magisk.

expert noob here so be gentle I flashed this rom knowing full well it's for the european version of the galaxy. It was Blazing fast on my phone, although the modem doesn't work I was fine with wifi only. I tried to flash kb1 ka7 and a couple others but could not get stability beyond a few minutes. There is also the Samsung App store that was very interesting and was fully functional...pulled down a couple cool apps that are not in the market. My question(s), is there a way to get this ROM running on US phones? It seems so close to working and honestly mu phone has never felt so fast...also I went to see if I could get the Samsung App apk but on the samsung site its NA for the US...so with root explorer I pulled the apk and installed with success but i'm only able to see 1 app available running my current axura 229 rom, with Darky's rom I saw everything. I'm willing to do what I can if anyone is interested in this rom.

This thing makes an unbelievable difference!
I'm not sure about the battery life as I didn't notice much of an improvement, but as far as performance is concerned, it is very noticeable.
I suggest using the stock version, and you can always use the uninstaller if you find something you don't like.
Cheers.
not working on note 10.1 2014
i tried to flash it using twrp im running android 4.4.2 kitkat but it didnt work it says failed i choose the stock file
It flashed fine for me on benni_1994's rom. However I had two freezes/reboots within 15 minutes that I had to uninstall it.
I'm sorry that it didn't work for you. I'm running stockyrom based jellybean, no kitkat yet. Maybe it has issues with android 4.4.2

What is your device model?
Will this work with P605, Kitkat?
Yep I'm on my girlfriend's p605, latest stockyrom.
By the way I also use this on my note 3 on a custom ROM based on kitkat. Works flawlessly.

I have an SGH-i337z on Cricket and I was able to root and install TWRP using hroark13's method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...cket-aio-sgh-i337z-jflteaio-twrp-2-7-t2858698)
I've been trying various CM builds, the Google Play Edition ROM and PACMAN, but they all seem to have issues (5GHz WiFi, one app or another not working properly, notification glitches). To be fair, they are AT&T ROMs. Also, it takes a bit of work to install as you have to remove the asserts line from each ROM before installing. But if you just want to root and use TWRP to backup it works fine!

Just out of curiosity, was the GPE ROM you tried the Lollipop one? Also, are there any roms for this phone that work well and stable in your experience?
I haven't tried any lollipop roms yet. The 4.4.4 kitkat GPE ROM was stable with the exception of breaking a music streaming app I use (subsonic). It was also the only ROM that identified the carrier as Cricket instead of AT&T.
Pacman I didn't really like so i can't speak much for its stability.
CM11 can be hit or miss. The nightly seem more stable than the stable or milestone versions usually, but one gave me 5GHz wifi problems. I was never able to use 5GHz with the milestone I tried.
Right now i am using 12/13 nightly CM11 and it has been running very well. I really like the slider shortcuts on the CM lock screen, so I'll probably just stick with CM.

Yes, CM11 is working great! If anything is broken I haven't come across it yet. There are certainly a lot available and any unified or AT&T ROM should work (no need for safestrap), so feel free to try out anything that looks good! I liked GPE and it seemed to work really well until I found it didn't work with one app I use occasionally (subsonic). You might not have any issues with apps you use. I also seemed to get better battery life with GPE. The wifi issue I had with an older CM11 build seems to have been fixed, so that's working well now. The author of the root I used seems to like Skyfall, so you could go that way if you like touchwiz.
Have some fun trying out a couple, and make a backup before installing something different so you can easily go back if you decide you liked one better.

FWIW, I've gotten Goldeneye, Skyfall and stock T-mobile running on my i337z with TWRP. I uploaded the ND3 and NE2 modules in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57407130&postcount=75.

So, long story short my mum had an iPhone 5, and she wanted a larger phone. The 6 and 6 Plus were way too expensive, so I said to get the Note 4. She loved it, at first. She then started to get more and more angry at it, since TouchWiz crashed often. So I said I'd custom ROM it, after all, I had done the same to my step dad's S5, he's pleased now. BUT, CM12 nightlies aren't exactly stable, and she gets crashing and stuff. Plus, she wants to be able to use her banking app, since it blocks phones with root. It works fine on my OnePlus One with Paranoid Android. Is there any kind of ROM for the Note 4, any PA ROM, any ROM without root? And no, I'm not putting it back on a TouchWiz based ROM.
How can you have a rom without root? You've already rooted it to put a custom rom on it.
Anyways I'm on TeKXodus 5.01 rom right now and its WAY better than stock. Check out his thread.

You can install a rom and then simply un-root it afterwards. This gives you custom rom without root

I see this very often, but it isn't true.
you don't need to root for a custom rom.
on most devices (including the note 4) you need a custom recovery and an unlocked bootloader(it's often unlocked out of the box) for a custom rom.
some device(like gen8 archos devices) even allow custom roms with the official recovery thanks to a developer mode, or they don't have a signature check and just let you flash custom roms through an official updating utility(such as the old advent vega which accepted custom roms flashed through nvflash)
Hello Friends
I have been searching the internet for days on how to root the Note 5 N9208 dual sim and finally found something that seem stable.
DISCLAIMER: I am by no means taking credit for this root method, I am just sharing what I found because I know how hard the information can be to find on the internet. As you should already know, with flashing there is always a risk so you are always responsible for you own device
1. First you are going to want to enable OEM Unlock and USB debugging in the developer option.
2. Go to Samsung app store and get the CROM service app. (this is needed so you can flash custom roms, on some phones you won't be able to flash anything if you don't do this step)
3. Download Permissive kernel (from xiaolu) for N9208 with auto root: N9208-TW-Root (0909) .tar flash it with Odin3.10.7 (extract tar-file from zip, put it in section and flash AP)
At this point you should now have root, beyond this step will explain how to get TWRP recovery.
4. Official TWRP for Samsung Galaxy Note 5 DUOS you can found here ... (download tar-file, put it in AP section and flash with Odin3.10.7).
This information was accumulated by searching the web. My thanks goes out to all developers who help me to arrive at a root solution. If you, a developer come here and see a violation that I overlooked please inbox me and I will rectify it right away Thanks again
Thanks for the guide. Do you have more information on the kernel?

Sad to say, I didn't find much information on the web about the performance of this kernel. It just showed up as a way to gain root.
Not being about to accumulate any data on the kernel I kinda was back and forth in my mind if I should use it or not. after hours of thinking and really wanted root I decided to give it a go in a all or re-flash moment(nothing).
Turn out to be pretty good with no change in performance vs the stock kernel. Once flashed I saw superSU there installed and ready to go.
Now I was concern about the random reboots I heard about with other kernels but I have been using the phone for 3 days now and I haven't encountered any lags, no reboots, no drop of signals or calls. I have not yet installed any games on my phone so I don't know how it will be with heavy usage of that nature.
If you decide to give this a try please post any findings of abnormalities here. Thank you

Nice guide for obtaining root!
I already have rooted my Note 5 using the SpaceX kernel, but as some of you know this kernel has the random reboot issue.
What would be the procedure for me to flash this kernel. Can I just flash over the current SpaceX kernel or would I have to go another route?
Appreciate the help.

Cheers for the quick help! So just Odin flash this kernel directly over my current setup...will get right to it
Flashed the kernel and rebooted...all seems well. Now further testing and hopefully no weird issues like random reboots and/or deep sleep bug.
and We still don't know where it came from ??
but it Works
I seen it on a russian site thats all I know
but it works !!
Indeed...it's all rather strange No dev, no nothing...but it does work :good:
I got 4% battery usage in some 10 hours standby and that's pretty decent in my book.
Performance seems on par with stock kernel. Now for another couple of days of further testing to see if it holds up...(no random reboots and such).
I was at about 6%at 7hrs.....but I have one drive syncing. ..but before I had 15-20%....
and no reboots and I am rooted!!!!

lol yup, there is no data at all on this kernel as far as I can search. one thing I can say for sure is that its doing very well in terms of performance. I play games, listen to music, make calls on both sims, send emails and have dual whatsapp going all day. with all that activity I manage to get 13 hours out of the phone, I plug in at 18%. to me thats good. What do you guys think?
l think we have a rooted in 9208 dual sim that doesnt reboot and works fine
curiousty leads me toWonder Where it came from and whats been done to it
Guys, will this work with the hong kong version (9200)?
