Thank you.

@nepo1992 sorry, but at this moment your device not supported, only D5803. May be in the future....

I've flashed my 5833 with 5803 and it works flawlessly. Nice jog bro.

Really? This is Root and stuff for MM 575 LB without going back to KK (or ugly Kingroot) ?
Outstanding stuff - Thanks to @zxz0O0 @Wolfbreak and of course you @russel5 - :good:

Thanks russel5. Could you tell me if this works on locked bootloader as well? And if the bootloader stays locked?

Yes, it's for locked bootloader (LB in thread name) and yes, bootloader stays locked.

This is basically the "MM TWRP Recovery for Locked BL" I've created months ago for Z3C, Z3 and Z2, slightly modified with root solution already in the pack. Great edit!

Sooo... I can take my factory Sony Z3c, with nothing in system touched since production, run this, and get root, custom recovery, keep DRM keys and LB? Or I missed something?

i tried on z2 and i just replaced the twrp with z2 twrp but device is not supported so can you please support z2 ?
thank you.

sure i know that understand the point but i was talking to @AfroMetal
by the way it would be great if you modified recovery with this method and add support for z2.

Works like a charm. Finally could delete all that Sony's bloatware. Is there anywhere a list of things that can be safely removed from Sony's firmware to make it more vanilla without playing with DRM?

Here we go. First you have to download firmware from Sony servers. There are multiple way to do that. For example you can do it by official way using Sony Pc Companion or community tools like Flashtool or quite genious XperiFirm. Downloaded firmware is encrypted and it must be decrypt first. for this you can use Flashtool but if you download with XperiFirm it can do for you automaticly. Next thing to do is make .ftf which can be flashed via Flashtool. To do that use Flashtool. To make it prerooted, I know two methods. There is great quide by @[NUT] in Sony Cross-Device Development General section which explain the whole thing and then there is tool cold PRFCreator which basicly do the work for you if it succeed. With newest Sony firmware there is lastly one problem to figured out which is that you have to disable Sonyric to have write acces to system. Dualrecovery do it for you but as @[NUT] haven´t yet updated latest firmwares to it you have add your device version number manualy to dualrecovery installation file tmp folder file called "installdisableric.sh". Or find other way to disable Sonyric for example adding it Sonyric disabler seperately to the flashable.zip. At the moment though this isn´t enough to make write acces to system and we have to wait that dualrecovery is fixed or figure out some other way to do it.

Yeah, thanks a lot, i know everything about xperifirm, making a ftf and stuff, what i really needed to know was the prfcreator tool name (i heard about it months a go and i didn't remember), and if there was anything special to do to make it work, like some manual editing on the install script, or what you mentioned about RIC service and dualrecovery.
Thanks again!
I'm so addicted to @[NUT] 's dual recovery, I've forgotten what it's like to be without it. If I flash your (THANK YOU, by the way!) zip, what will be the steps once NUT updates the dual recovery? Just flash it, or will enabling rw be more complicated?

is there a compatible version of xposed for this release. I heard it was working on android 5.0 but i got an error when i tried to install the framework. i am aware this release is 5.02 but i cant find any info on what specific versions xposed is compatible with.
Looks awesome! You said the zip comes with the latest dual recovery but it doesnt work? How would i flash my old nandroid backup then?
Or does it mean I should flash a different recovery like: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...wrp-cwm-philz-recovery-collection-z2-t3052676 then I'd have a working recovery on Lollipop?
EDIT: Also can I dirty flash this? I would rather keep all my homescreens, apps n such

Nandroid backup is quite handy when something goes wrong. I have already have bootloops when trying something and have to wipe everything, go back to firmware version .314, root it, install custom recovery, flash my backup and again this rom, without loosing any of my data. So, make nandroid backup. I don´t think that version of custom recovery that you are linking work either without update. @[NUT] is working on this and I´m sure we soon have working recovery.

So if i flashed it now, would I be able to get a recovery working for it later or should i just wait to get the package all in one?
Answering your question, no you have pre-rooted flashed so aslong as you dont break that part it will be possible to flash NUT's recovery through the -installer.zip version instead of the -flashable.zip version which you probably do now to update the recovery in most efficient way. No need to hesitate
Happy flashing
As said I don't see any reasons to wait. As long you have nandroid backup of your kk firmware and rootable version of your device firmware no matter what happen with recovery you don't loose anything and are able to try what ever you decide.
Here is link to .314 firmware (ftf) which is rootable. https://mega.co.nz/#!kcxxjaLA!itErjRi2fYPPswal-c7XasF_lAvPKyY4GwEzY3xgHZ0

Thanks. I made prerooted zip with PRFCreator. Works like a charm.
by flashing, does it wipe the data? i.e. apps and music
Why do you first have to install a stock ftf? Why not install prerooted right away.
Update : I did not read properly. so it seems one time flashing is the case .

So, just so I understand, I will end up with a Sony Z3 Compact Tablet with 5.02 LP, rooted, but with no access to recovery?
That explains my confusion then - I kept getting recovery partition errors in Flashify.
Does it require unlocked bootloader?

No.
BTW. To OP - please add link to RICDefeat from SGP621 thread (mounting /system r/w).
Please help me understand:
- PRFcreator will create a flashable.zip.
- the flashable.zip is a .zip and not a signed .tft; one must flash through recovery, not flashtool.
this is where I get really lost:
- In order to install any recovery (TWRP, Clock, etc), the device must be unlocked, since you cannot install recovery on locked Xperia devices (right?).
- The only way to unlock the device is to request the unlock code from Sony which voids the DRM keys, etc.
Please help me figure this out, since I want to root my SGP611, but I don't want to lose my DRM keys.

You may want to root your device first and backup your DRM keys with giefroot and BackupTA.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-...t-rooting-sgp611-giefroot-bootloader-t3017314
Thanks for your reply. Just to clarify; I will generate a .zip file with PFRCreator that can only be flashed in recovery, correct?
Forgive the noobness: can I flash a .zip file with Flashtool?
Before i had the 4.4.4 running, rooted with the giefroot-method and i also did a ta-backup.
Now i upgraded it using the mentioned way and i do still have root - but now i cant get PS4-Remoteplay to work again.
I get a errorcode which is known to say: You rooted your device and the drm-keys are gone (88001003).
so i restored my 4.4.4 ta-backup again - but it still doesnt work.
Also the proprietary Sony-Updateprog for their pre-installed xperia software is gone.
any ideas how to fix this ?
You created the backup BEFORE opening the bootloader?
Have restored the backup after getting root on the stock firmware?
You must enter the special menu contact ( *#*#7378423#*#* , service tests, security ) , all keys should be ok
I read that some have had this error (withremote play) simply by having SuperSU or superuser installed
Edit: I tried to uninstall SuperSU from the app itself (option cleaning to reinstall after from google play) and now to open remote play does not give the error 88001003. Apparently sony detects if you have the app installed
busybox
I had the stock kitkat rom, which I rooted prior to installing a prerooted lollipop rom.
I still have root access, but I do not have busybox installed and can't seem to install it.
I get the same error message using "busybox installer" and using Stephen (Stericson's) Busybox.
Any suggestions?
You may have forgotten to install ricdefeat (download SGP621-RICDefeat.zip , unzip, run install.bat)
system r/w?

[Update][Latest][6.0.1][Prerooted][23.5.A.1.291][Z2 tablet][SGP511][SGP512]

Hi
Here are flashable zip file wich installs latest Sony stock 6.0.1 Marshmallow ROM 23.5.A.1.291_R3D (VMo AU-NZ), SuperSu v2.76 and latest TWRP 3.0.20 with read and write acces to system. Because device is Wi-Fi only region doesn´t matter. Only difference is bloatware. Since Sony hasn´t push update to SGP511 I use SGP512 firmware which is working fine on my device. If you want you can edit build.prop file in /system -folder to correct model number as shown in screenshot.
Here is the link for new 6.0.1 firmware:

MD5 is: D3B78445485765AB7BD3A163F2A6C4BD
Make nandroid backup before flashing.
Install it by flashing whole zip file via custom recovery. TWRP recommend. If coming from .570 or .575 firmware dirty flash with art/dalvik cache wipe is okay.
If coming from older firmware factory reset is most likely necessary with cache and dalvik/art cache wipes but anyhow recommend. If you want you can restore your data with TWRP after installation and reboot. This install compatible busybox. If you install incompatible busybox you may loose acces to TWRP.
After flashing .zip file if you are getting bootloop you have atleast two choises.
- With pc and Flashtool use your firmware original ftf -file and flash it by excluding "FOTAKernel", "Partition" and "System". In other words in "exclude section" tick these and don´t wipe anything. (Credits @AlanDS)
- Or download "bootloop fix" from here: https://mega.nz/#!BUxFxSAR!bPVEEDnsPz962JQ1uA2PKJv9tYLKA47N0fhA80ltEvw
(Credits @niaboc79 and @machao44) and flash it with TWRP
Here is the old 23.1.A.1.28 (Customized NCB) FTF -file link:

Nope. Only difference between devices is memory size and your device regognize correct size even if you use this. Only thing is your device shows as SGP511 but you can chance that in build.prop file if you like.
Er... on my Z2 Tablet with .726 firmware there is no "Ultra Stamina" mode... or am I missing something?
Or is "Ultra Stamina" introduced only with this new firmware version??
Thanks, I just noticed this version was offered as a 21 MB system update on my current ROM (23.1.A.0.690 NCB). But this is much better :good:

You are right. Chancelog is copy/pasted from universal source so there is device specific differencies and because this device is wifi only there is no ultra stamina mode.

For to be safe I recommend to make nandroid backup including kernel, system and data. However if something go wrong system backup with kernel might be enough to bring your device back.
This ain't wipe your internal sd on it's own so it is your choice.
Thanks man, you're always so fast! We should be getting 5.1 next month I read somewhere

Nope. Double tap to wake work fine here.
Factory reset coming from KK, everything working perfectly, including root/SU and double tap to wake.
In case anyone has similar issues, I couldn't download from Mega directly to device (it kept disconnecting at around 10%), had to download using PC and transfer using SD card.
Thanks Kulvertti for all the work you do for our device, it is much appreciated! :good:

This will keep your root. About OTA, maybe with small updates but haven't tested it with latest update.

hey man,
I just spent like 2 hours trying to get CWM installed for castor windy. finally ended up using a combo of ADB "fastboot reboot-bootloader" reboot-boot <lightning-bolt-symbol/fastboot mode/select kernal to flash> and put in an extracted boot.img for CWM (nightly build). i then did "fastboot reboot" and rapidly pressed the volume up button. it worked and im now in CWM. I put your zip on my sd card before, and I navigated to that <apply update/choose from sdcard1/flashablesomeupdatedetailsidontwanttocopy.zip> (strangly I noticed that there were 2 identical "choose from sdcard1" options)
cwm paused for a second, then outputted

First: Thanks to Kulvertti for all his work.
I am still confused. Do I need to root my device on forehand?
What I have understood so far:
You don't have to have root to flash NUT's [TABZ2][TWRP][PhilZ Touch][CWM] XZDualRecovery (It won't bring you root either).
So you can flash this recovery as long as you are on unrooted but rootable stock firmware (e.g. 17.1.2.A.0.314).
Then can flash this pre-rooted stock Lollipop ROM 23.1.A.1.28 and you will have root.
So only 3 steps to go from unrooted stock Lollipop to to this pre-rooted Lollipop?
1) flash rootable firmware (from PC, using flashtool).
2) flash "NUT's" recovery (from PC, using NUT's installer).
3) flash this pre-rooted stock Lollipop ROM (from sdcard1, using TWRP recovery)
Is this correct??

Root Xperia Z5 Compact Android 6.01 (Tested and Working)

I rooted my phone following the guide from user "smartphone-tester". I wanted to update his post as there were 1 or 2 mistakes, and shorten in to make rooting seem a little less scary. His original post is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/general/summary-tutorial-root-sony-xperia-z5-t3360515
STEP 1 Backup your device
Move everything you want to keep onto the SD card or your PC. Your phone will be completely wiped.
STEP 2 Downgrade to exploitable firmware release
2.1 Download XperiFirm from http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/pc-xperifirm-xperia-firmware-downloader-t2834142
2.2 In XperiFirm - download firmware build 32.0.A.6.200 with XperiaFirm (E5823_StoreFront_1299-6910_32.0.A.6.200_R2B)
2.3 Download flashtool from http://www.flashtool.net/index.php(get latest version)
2.4 In Flashtool - Create FTF file. Select Tools->Bundles->Create
2.5 In FlashTool - Flash the FTF in flashmode. Make sure to select the checkboxes under Wipe. (Takes 10 minutes)
STEP 3 TA / DRM Keys Backup and root current firmware
3.1 Download Ivy Root http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/iovyroot-temp-root-tool-t3349597
3.2 Connect your phone in ADB mode, in a command window run:
adb push "root/iovyroot" "/data/local/tmp/iovyroot"
adb push "root/backup.sh" "/data/local/tmp/backup.sh"
open shell: adb shell
chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/iovyroot
chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/backup.sh
mkdir /data/local/tmp/tabackup
/data/local/tmp/iovyroot /data/local/tmp/backup.sh
exit
adb pull "/data/local/tmp/tabackup/"
STEP 4 UPGRADE TO LASTEST ANDROID (6.01)
4.1 In XperiFirm - download firmware 32.2.A.6.224 (get the build for your model, mine is E5823_Customized TW_1298-7315_32.2.A.0.224_R9C)
4.2 In Flashtool - create FTF file from E5823_Customized TW_1298-7315_32.2.A.0.224_R9C and flash in flashmode.
4.3 In your phones setting, under develop options - select "Enable OEM Unlock"
4.4 Unlock your bootloader by following these steps excactly :http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/
STEP 5 ROOT ANDROID 6.01
5.1 Download SuperSu 2.74 or greater. Copy the zip file onto your Z5 Compacts internal storage https://download.chainfire.eu/964/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.74-2-20160519174328.zip
5.2 In Flashtool -> Tools -> SIN Editor , then extract the kernel from kernel.sin in the directory created by XperiFirm when you downloaded 32.2.A.6.224. It creates an .elf file
5.3 Download rootkernal tool from http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/development/root-automatic-repack-stock-kernel-dm-t3301605 extract the zip into a folder, then copy the .elf file into the folder
5.4 In a cmd window go into your extracted rootkernal folder, run the command: rootkernel kernel.elf kernel-patched.elf
5.5 When rootkernel is running, select Disable Sony RIC, install TWRP, install busybox, install DRM fix
5.6 Put your phone into fastboot mode (Turn off phone, hold volume up and plug in USB)
5.7 Flash your patched Kernel to your phone with this command: fastboot flash boot kernel-patched.elf
5.8 Go Into TWRP(unplug usb, turn phone on, then keep hitting volume up until phone goes into TWRP)
5.9 Install SuperSu : Select Install, Select SuperSU zip --> systemless mode
STEP 6
6.1 Restart your Device and your done!
DRM KEYS: While we did make a backup for the TA partition containing the DRM keys, this tutorial did not explain how to restore that because in STEP 5 when patching the kernel we selected to use the DRM Fix. This DRM Fix should be good enough - as everything on my phone is working 100%, but should you ever need to restore your TA partition in the future you have your backup.
nice
you should make a video on how to do this (this is my 1st time rooting and i am completely lost)
I'm an occasional user of all those rooting methods. Here I'm fairly stuck at the Iovyroot step.
I was able to unlock bootload, to flashboot the thing, to even revert to 5.1.1, but then, at the Iovyroot step, I can no long see where to open the cmd. Even when I enter adb devices or android devices, nothing is shown. Although I changed the path in the variables.
I'm getting frustrated big time with the lack of user friendly infos on those tutos. Half of the stuff I had to search for third party tutos to understand how I should go to the next step. Please, help someone who doesn't have his translator on.
EDIT: Well, in the end I couldn't do the backup part, but I just did the rooting and the phone seems all good. Powerful and versatile tool in my pocket, I'm pretty satisfied. Thank you for the tuto, be more user friendly though next time. Some people come here with little knowledge, they need to find their way properly.
Why so many steps when all you have to do is unlock the bootloader, flash twrp and that's it? I rooted on lollipop so I'm confused where it git so complicated.

The tutorial covers backing up the TA partition that holds the Sony DRM stuff that's used by the camera (and maybe some other stuff).
This is "just in case" the DRM work around stops working, or if something in the future requires the actual TA partition to have the data there.
If you don't care about anything that is affected by the DRM stuff and don't care that not having a backup could prove to be detrimental in the future, you do only need the few steps of 1) unlock bootloader, 2) flash twrp, 3) flash supersu.
what are those step exactly (sorry new to this)
---------- Post added at 03:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:31 PM ----------
I am stuck on "2.5 In FlashTool - Flash the FTF in flashmode. Make sure to select the checkboxes under Wipe. (Takes 10 minutes)" all i get is a window with source folder, device, branding, version. and I don't see the word wipe at all

If this rooting turortial is too difficult try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/debloater-remove-carrier-bloat-t2998294
With this app, you can fully debloat your phone on a completely stock firmware, locked bootloader etc. Because its your phone is not rooted though, you cannot get Xposed framework or CM13, or other advanced stuff - but for those of us who wanted root just to clean up our devices - this method is definitly the best!

Hi @Dean F , I appreciate your effort to simplify the steps here as it's a bit messy from the original post.
I've been rooting from Xperia Ray to Xperia Z1 but Z5 have been very challenging for me probably due to the lack of understanding from "How to root post" before you actually made this one.
Thank you my friend :good:
Pardon me for being an idiot
Hello Dean F!
Thanks for this tutoial. But before I'll try this, I have two quetions:
1) How do I use your steps WITH restoring the backuped TA-partition?
2) Is the descriped process also usable with a Xperia Z3 Tablet?
Thanks and greetings from GErmany

Hi I just started using Xperia X Dual (F5122), earlier I was using rooted Asus Zenfone with custom ROMs. But rooting Xperia seems a bit different from what I used to with zenfone.
I have few questions
What is this DRM key backup and restore? And my phone came with 7.1 preinstalled so is there a different procedure??
Where do I start? First root then backup the DRM keys? When will I need them again?
I have asked a lot of questions but I was reading all the threads here but I am getting more confused.
I want to root and try custom ROMs. Thanks

- would it fix the drm keys?
- do i have to downgrade first to MM (Android 6) - i ask this because the author says this post is an extension of a post that says so

please flash F5121 with 34.3.A0.206 / 7.1.1 using flashtool. i have put the fsc script if you get error.
once flashed, please flash the kernel of F5121 and reboot.
the device will boot having
- drm fix /ok
- supersu / ok
however you must give /system rw permission via terminal (after installing busybox)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/general/z5-making-writable-32-3-0-372-root-t3551067
if you didn't get chance to extract your ta.img, I guess for X is ok, because this device may not goto Android O and till 7.1.1 we have kernel that has drm fix.

for Magisk
you must first
1. clean flash your xperia x using flashtool and wipe all partitions ( meaning you will loose data)
2. don't boot you device after clean flashing
3. now flash recovery twrp 3.1 ( see forum there is methon given)
4. flash kernel ( given in th OT) or if you want to have kernel with NO superSU for magisk, and you want to FLASH SUPERSU using twrp 3.1.... give me your kernel.sin , and i will make kernel for u having NO superSU
5. now boot in twrp by keep presSING power and volum down keys until you see pink led and you are prompted to twrp
6. flash magisk and supersu ( which must be in your sdcard since before beginning)
7 clean delvik cache and cache
8 reboot in to system
remember if you didn't follow step two, xperia x rom will ENCRYPT your internal partition and you will get error in twrp. so its very important that you boot after doing everything! once booted the partition / internal storage will be encrypted by sony. and twrp no longer work...
