So, I was wondering, is it worth buying the Nexus 6P right now or is there a better Nexus or other device on it's way?
My requirements are basically just CyanogenMod for a long time.

Up to you.
Do you need the latest and greatest?
If so you need to wait until about Nov.
I have 6p and like it. But at this time, I urge you to look at ZTE Axon 7. It's top specs and now newegg sells it for $400 and includes a Monster headphone.
guys what u thinking about htc10 ? i had 6p then sold it (it was so stupid of me to sold my 6p ) now i'm thinking to buying one again but don't know 6p or htc10 :| (95% i'll buy 6p this saturday)

there's always a better nexus or even phone for that matter coming up. The Nexus 6P is a great phone, great camera, great features, plain and simple. Even cheaper than most flagships! so buy away.

Depends, Nexus devices really go long into development.

I guess I will buy 6P then.
Wise choice that has plenty of N6p enjoyment and XDA fun left!
If you buy directly from HTC you can get it unlocked with an unlockable bootloader.
They don't ding you for unlocking the bootloader and right now you can get it for $599.
https://www.htc.com/us/go/buy-htc-10/#unlocked
The unlocked version can be made to work on Verizon:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-10/how-to/vzw-how-to-unlocked-model-vzw-t3376743
http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/HTC-10,Google-Nexus-6P/phones/9582,9587
Smaller screen, same resolution.
Snapdragon 820 vs the 810.
I don't know, 64GB and you get microSD support; it's a tough call.
Although I have the 6P, if I were buying today I might go for the HTC10.
Just got the 6P through Amazon Prime deals 2 days ago. Replacing my s6 edge. totally happy with it.

I'm not really sure if the battery is replacable or not. It's not as easy as with other smartphones, but it is possible, right? You just have to careful to not break some wire.
Because otherwise, what could I do if the battery would die? If it wasn't replacable, I mean. I've read somewhere that the battery inside the N4 has 800 "cycles".
Uh, well, like ANY OTHER PHONE with a "non-removable" battery you have two options:
1) Buy a battery, crack it open, and replace it.
2) Send it to the manufacturer and have them replace it.
If under warranty then have it fixed. If not under warranty the either take it to a repair shop and have it fixed or fix it yourself by replacing the battery or buy a new phone. There is a video that is very good on disassembly of the nexus 4....

Not a stupid question just one with some simple answers. It does not (according to the video) seem like it would be hard to replace the battery but it may be hard to get a new battery.
Hi
The do it yourself approach isn't that difficult, a good take apart video is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZDAIgwbXk4

Yeah, that might turn out to be a problem. Certainly because the Nexus 4 isn't a very popular device. Not much reason to make spare batteries.

It's still not nearly as popular as the GSIII or the One X for example, even if LG would've produced more. Everyone looked weird at my Nexus S, as they would at a Nexus 4. They just don't know it exists.
It is a VERY popular phone at a community like XDA. But the "normal/mainstream" customer doesn't know about it, and will never buy one even though the price is ridiculously low.

Who cares? Quality > Quantity. I don't idealistically want a phone that everybody else has. It's popular within the developer community, that's what matters to me. They wouldn't of thought your Nexus 4 is a Nexus S because Nexus S sold less than Nexus 4 most likely.
Why wouldn't they buy the phone? T Mobile is praising subsidized devices on their carrier and will be offering marketing within their stores.
One X is also not a popular phone with HTC on the decline.

Misunderstanding what. You're confusing me. You're pointing that the Nexus device isn't a popular device compared to a S3, iPhone. I agreed with you, PERSONALLY in my experience, I don't want a phone everybody in their world has or know what it is.
Being a popular phone is very subjective anyway. In the developer community or android hard fan base, it's a popular phone. The average user only knows of Droids, Galaxy S#, iPhones, Blackberry.

So are there many problems or is this product "oké"?
Best regards!
All you have to do is a little reading around the forums to find your answer. The issues have all been thoroughly discussed, but I'd say the vast majority (including myself) are quite happy with the device overall.

is there really any reason that google has made the GEL launcher exclusive to the nexus 5? I looked at the lg g2 a few days ago in my local t-mo store and liked the fact it had a large screen, and figured i could get something like that if I had my bars transparent like the bars on the g2 since it's a huge price jump and I couldn't afford it. That being said, is there really any reason other than a selling point to keep the GEL on the n5 only? Thanks

This is one of the first phones I've owned that I cannot root, and it kills me! I knew what I was getting into, but I hoped... It was foolish of me. Thing is, I've either become too fussy with what I want from a phone, spec-wise, or the market is saturated with devices that manufacturers WANT us to buy / THINK they know what we want. Depends on your point of view I guess.

PS: I always thought T-mobile and At&t variants were pretty easy to root. didn't realized at&t is near impossible..
Sprint used to be really easy to root. However since around the S6 the process has been a pain.

Goodbye Nexus 6 community and goodbye to the wonderful Nexus 6 developers. I've had a Nexus 6 for quite some time but I've had hardware issues with my last Nexus 6 so I decided to try out the 1+ 6T (which is an amazing phone for the cost), but I wanted to give a shout out to the XDA Nexus 6 community and to the developers that made (and make) the phone stay contemporary. Thank you!
i am also thinking about going the 1+ way myself. i am gonna wait till the 1+7 and 1+7P are released in a few days and see what they will cost.

i would love the pro but i think it is going to be super expensive for a oneplus product.
i also have mixed feelings about the pop up selfie cam.
An alternative might be the Pixel 3a XL. Price and performance should be relatively close to that of the N6 with a far better camera, and it still has a headphone jack. The only real downside I can see is that one of the speakers is bottom-firing.
the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on the 1+6t is the fact i am stuck on the vzw network and i live out in the sticks in central NJ
i dont have LTE where i live and apparently the oneplus doesnt have wifi calling enabled.
i also jumped to to the oneplus. i have the 5t and love it. i have no regrets. it was the best option since most nexus after the 6 went smaller and more expensive. i'll probably go to the oneplus 6t, now that 7 is about to release and prices will drop. i still miss my shamu though. i even keep it updated on rr just in case i break or lose this phone which is also on rr. really was the best nexus phone in my opinion. pixel can't compare...
