How to check if my Moto G4 plus is original or not? I haven't got any updates yet. What is the latest software update in India Moto g4 plus got?
IMEI Number inside phone settings and box.
Antutu shows device manufacturer and so on.
A lot of ways to be honest
To check system updates you can try
Settings-->About Phone-->System Updates
And The latest build number is
MPJ24.139-23.1
You can find this in Settings-->Build Number ( Scroll down )

I bought a Moto G4 Amazon Prime.
And after awhile, I can't stand the ads.
Can I flash non-amazon stock rom into this amazon prime moto g4 with locked bootloader?
Dude..
You'd better take that one back.. spend the extra $50 spot and get the regular version while you can... your store special is bootloader locked down.. for good.
No Flashing Anything..
At one point this did work but it is unclear if it still does.
I have the non Amazon mpj24.139-49 installed. The software channel still states amz so I'm ignoring updates to the amz 64 version.
One user on this forum tried to get the non amz 64 version installed and got stuck and had to send it back to moto for support who fixed it and installed the non amz version AND set their update channel to retus. I have not seen confirmation of other failed or successes on the 64 and am hoping this still can be done, especially with nougat approaching.
Hello, humans!
I have a Moto G4 purchased in Brazil with the product code XT1626. I'm coming from a Moto G2 XT1068 and i was very careful to install specific ROMs to that model. However, i have noticed that some ROMs are "nonspecific" (example: XT1625 and XT1643)...
So how do I know which ones are compatible with my device?
Just read these news about Android 7.1.1 coming to Moto G4
https://androidgeek.pt/moto-g4-play-comeca-receber-update-android-7-1-1
https://www.tecmundo.com.br/moto-g4...e-recebe-atualizacao-android-nougat-7-1-1.htm
I don't know about the first one, but the second site, Tecmundo, is one of the most reliable technologies sites in Brazil
For those who doesn't read portuguese, it says Android 7.1.1, under the 638mb file named NPI26.48-8, is coming to a version of Moto G4, the "Play" (code XT1603).
Does anyone already received this update? Will it work on other XT models?
There's a post up already showing that some users in Brazil are receiving the 7.1.1 update (either officially or as a soak test) for Moto G4 Play devices : https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/help/7-1-1-moto-g4-play-t3622650 Same build as you've mentioned.
It won't work on other Moto G4 devices (different CPU - Snapdragon 410 vs 617, for starters). With the Moto Z Play and G4 Play receiving the 7.1.1 update, it remains to be seen if other Moto devices will be updated to 7.1.1.

Thanks for the info.
Sorry for posting again about this but I didn't see that other thread
I hope that we get the update soon for the vulnerability fix
Sorry for the noob question but what is the difference between "potter" and "xt1687?" I searched but couldn't find anything conclusive about differences between potter, xt1685, xt1686, xt1687, xt1688, etc.
I just got an xt1687 from Amazon but it seems all the ROMs are for the "potter" variation. I'm trying to figure out what differences are so I can tell which ROMs will work or not work for my device.
Thanks for any help.
If you'd look at about phone in settings, you'd see your model number. Potter is the codename that was used by Lenovo for the Moto G5 plus. XT1687 is the official model number for the Moto G5 plus. Its the same phone.

So are all variants (xt1685, xt1686, xt1687, etc.) considered "potter?" Any ROM listed for use with potter will work regardless of RAM and storage sizes?

Yes, 'potter' is the device name for all Moto G5 Plus variants, for the "regular" Moto G5 it's 'cedric' and so on. Some issues do pop up for certain variants based on differences like having NFC/compass or not, but are usually minor and/or fixable.

Thank you.
Choose your option in poll below.
You could add a third option, "Don't give a damn".
