Hi all,
I just rooted my s7 edge and am trying to move some of my apps to my school card. I used link2sd but when I try to move apps a get the message "Error: Could not access the Package Manager. is the system running?" I'm a newbie and it would be great if someone can explain what this means and how I could fix it.
Thanks

Its better to just enable adoptable storage.......links to SD and moving apps to SD is pretty much obsolete. This will bring both phone and SD together into one.
Maybe in the link2sd thread/forum, they'd know about your error. Google will get you there

I'm not sure i heard it was just for apps however you us connect using PC mode it opens a drive to that 8 gb internal memory. It has some drivers and PC applications that you can install from it. I didn't try writing anything to it at the time and I'm not sure you can. Give it a try and let me know.

Why WOULDN'T you want it is the question...
I like the idea all app data in one place and my data in another. Especially since the card can't pop out by accident. Why fill internal mem with media and then complain about no room for apps, imo of course.

Hi
I just had an issue of the internal memory is getting full even if I already had the applications and games installed in the memory card
But I wonder if there are any way or tips to optimize the RAM and get as much space as possible ?

Not much besides returning it and complaining the the 500.00+ phone you paid for came with 3.00 worth of storage. Im being generous saying the internal memory is 3.00 its more like 2.00
Sent from my R800a using XDA Premium App
But there should be away to optimize the RAM coz its totally an clear for the internal memory to get full fast even if I just had only few apps installed. My Iphone have more apps and games installed and I never had an issue with memory

Yes there are many ways. Easiest and fastest download the app: "app to sd" from market and u can move most apps to sd card.
Try that and let me know

Flame the noob, shame on you You don't know jack until someone points you in the right direction. Sure he should have searched a little, but still.
Dude, you got good advice on the apps2sd. The real memory improvements are after you pluck up the courage to root your device, but it's pretty easy. Follow the other posts on same. Then you can check out Titanium Backup from the market, or there is another command you can run if you install the Android Development Kit but it's more techy. Stick to Titanium, it moves most of the game to SD, leaving <1Mb for each. I have loads of games installed & have 150Mb free.
Let us know how you get on...
Thank you guys. I just tried it and it freed around 120MB
I really dont know much about the android and how to handle it properly but really you all are giving a great help and I appreciate it very much

If you learn how to use adb, you can try the command " pm setInstallLocation 2 ", this will force more apps to install to the SD Card and free up even more space
What i can delete on my internal storage? Where are the rings, Demopictures...? I us apps2sd and i have only ~100 MB free. What is adb and how i us it?

I'm not flaming or anything I just want to enlighten the OP.
Ram is not what you are referring to. What you are referring to is the internal storage.
Internal storage = Computer hard drive
Ram is where processes are being run atm. every time you turn off the phone the ram is cleared.
Now like many have said you can use adb and setinstalllocation2. What this will do is install all the applications on your memory card.

First of all check all the apps are on stock apps2sd. Go to settings/applications/manage applications then on the top click SD Card. It will then bring up a list of all the apps that are stock apps2sd conpatable and if theres a tick it means there already on. If no tick click the app then click "Move to SD". Instant more space.
Second uninstall the apps you use least.
Third clear your browser cache. Go to settings/applications/manage applications then scroll till you see Browser click then "Clear Cache"
Forth and finally I would root the phone and uninstall some stock stuff you won't use.
Done.

Bad SD card or power interrupted during file transfer. Format the card (FAT, full format vs. Quick format) would be my recommendation - if it fails during a full format you should consider a new Micro SD card.
I'm formatting now it shows 0 storage in lost everything it really sucks

same thing happened to me during file transfer.... it just stopped and BAM, everything was gone.
using some recovery software to recover it, but it sucks with long filenames, so i now have to rename whatever it finds

Should have put it in your pc. Probably could have saved your data.
Hi
I have been having this exact problem with my external SD card, I started a thread long ago about it.
The biggest danger so to speak is that the card may be a counterfeit.
There is a software to test this, its freeware so no worries people and you dont need to install it you just run it and it will tell you if the card is pretty much fake or heavily defective or even if its a low class card in a high class casing.
Read the instructions while you run the test and you will understand how it works, the test takes some time and depending on the size of the card of course just have patience. I have had very bad problems lately with memory cards that i bought so now I use this every time when i buy a new card.
God I hate fake things but worst I hate those who sell them.
Attached is the freeware.
Cheers.

To be honest I have never had a reason to try. My xoom has plenty of internal memory space for apps. I only put data and backup on the SD card. I just know that there are several similar apps that claim to be able to move apps to SD.

have you tried DOING anything with your 128 card? some of the stock apps will play nice, but even deleting a picture will give you a "sorry KitKrap doesn't allow sd card access". when I finish a video and go to delete it "sorry KitKrap doesn't allow it", when I use Google Drive and move a doc over to another folder or file "sorry KitKrap; nope!".. I've always been extremely well organized, and I've put a lot of time into organizing my SD card with any files or folders I'll need or use for work, and KitKrap won't allow any of it.. it's actually the exact same thing as when the "LOCK" switch is switched when you plug a standard SD card into a computer, except you can never turn it off.

Actually i discovered that the stock photo browser app only hides images, doesn't delete them. It may just be me, but after taking a string of shots of my daughter and trying to delete all but one, the gallery app said they were deleted, but when i plugged my phone into my computer they were all on the sdcard. Curious if others have the same issue?

Mostly I have all my pictures saved to it. I also transfer movies and tv shows to it on a daily basis. (Download a tv show to my laptop and transfer it to sd card via usb) On average, I have about 5GBs of free space left on my card.
Only ran into an issue once. I tried to delete a folder (season 5 of the show"24") and it claims that the card was "Write Protected" So I went into the folder and deleted the episodes . Folder still remains but its empty. Other than that its been working fine.
BTW I'm using the SanDisk Ultra 128 GB micro SD

I noticed the stock apps dont refresh and also keep a massive cache. I moved a pic folder and it remained in the stock pic app as cache, including full sized images. when I moved my music folder it did the exact same thing.. there's no refresh option. I cleared data and cache from the app, but it must be using some other means to cache, because nothing is actually better afterwards.

Assuming Android team leaves the option intact for the public release. Notice still no sd slot on the Nexus devices in spite of card writes "apparently" being part of the framework now Never doubt Android's hatred for sd cards. Were it not for Apple buyers scarfing up almost all the flash supply allocations for the iPhone launch, the G1 would have had 2GB of flash and no sd slot.
We can truly thank Apple for why Android devices have sd slots in the first place. :victory:

You don't understand the issue. Kitkat took away the app's ability to write/delete any where on the SD card, it only allows full access to the app's own folder on the SD card. I.E. sandboxing it. Apps are still able to read the whole SD card though.
