I had been using Renovate Edge v2.1 and Jesse Kernel v0.5 with no problem for 2 weeks, but today I heard Echoe ROM+Ael Kernel is the best, so I tried them but am having some issues (random reboots, white text on white background in Settings app, font too small) after installing them, so I'm thinking of restoring my last backup...
Anyway, what custom ROM/Kernel do you use/recommend?
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
@Emenaria , you're using the right combination.. Renovate Rom is most stable and close to stock without unnecessary mods and etc.. About kernel i can recommend you Voltaqe Kernel.

Thanks for your reply. I guess I'll go back to Renovate Edge for now. Oh, about Voltage Kernel, I googled it but it seems the thread has been closed?

GL_Notecore
Couldn't be happier with my note now that I've got clean Note 2.0 on it. Battery life and stability of GB.
Now the developer has a custom kernel.... GL_Notecore v1. And if we're lucky, we might soon get another version with native CPU / GPU overclocked to 1600/440.
In his ROM thread, g.lewarne sometimes gives the impression that he is a bit of an amateur, tinkering with this stuff for the first time...
So I had a look back at some of g.lewarne's earlier posts... turns out, he's a bit of a guru to put it mildly. :good:
Goku, the latest beta.
It's stable, fast and battery life is great.

GL NOTECORE EXTREME version....ballistic, testing it over the next few days, so far Touchwiz never felt as fast
Latest Franco r6 kernel.
It's good, sometimes it crashes and restarts by itself.
This is especially annoying when you download a large file.
I'll wait for the next version to see if I'll stick with Franco or choose another kernel.
Cheers.
my kernel ic gl_notcore now and its amzing kernel
Im using GOKU since yesterday with stock ICS ROM,very stable and fast, the first picture is clocked at 1600 with Tegrak, the second one is normal.
As for the battery life I havent had the chance to put it on a thorough test yet, since I am planing to give the NoteCore Gl EX a try soon.

Running ktoonsez kernel and it has been great. Battery life seems the same (this is going to depend on what governor you select and what OV/UV...I'm on ktoonservativeq) as stock kernel but much smoother and way more options. Have not tried agat63's yet but I'm sure it is solid as well.

faux123 003 kernel has gave me the best battery life so far.. ktoonsez kernel ran good also but i got better battery life with faux kernel.. but kernel run diff for everyone.. one kernel mite run perfect for one and not the other.. test a few and find one that works well with your phone
The best kernel is which ever one works best for you.
Everyone uses their phone differently and every phone has minute manufacturing differences which make the best kernel for me not the best kernel for you.
Try them all for a few days and you quickly find the one that is best for you.

what combination has worked well for you (issue free) ?
I'm asking because I've been getting some black screen of death and reboots. I've been swapping between Triforce with AGAT and KT kernels.
Dude this thread is going to get locked. Theres a "best" anything really, just try them out yourself really and see which one fixes your problems and works best for you.

Stock/stock. My phone doesn't like custom kernels for some weird reason. It heats up quickly with one on or the keyboard starts flaking out.
No Comment lol

Slim Bean (4.2.2 stable or 4.3 build 4) worked for me without issue, with either the installed Slim kernel or Chronic. I'm on Carbon 4.3 nightlies now, however NFC is broken.

Go on Goo manager grab DHO's rom. Grab gapps for 4.3 whatever pack ya want and grab Chronic kernel for Aosp 4.3.. I've been onboard since yesterday and its very fast and stable. Check it owwwtt! ;D

I think this should be more of a general topic...
But I personally love CM. Flashed 10.2 (usually the latest nightlies or a few days behind), and the speed and stability is amazing (even for a nightly!)
Triforce 3.1 by Unknownforce with agats kernel. Also Sacs rom is great right there with Triforce.
Sacs ROM, Agat kernel, cerj's blue chrome theme, BAM!
Good stuff.

Hy,
I've been using erobot ROM for about a month and for me it is perfect.
Battery friendly, no bugs and very good speed. I recommend version 11.2 as i encountered some problems with v 12.
Best regards!
I've used all available here at XDA, like most of erobot. I am now using V13.2 being the best release yet of rom erobot!

Do you like to venture to the dark side, dangerous and shaky world of custom ROM?
Come.....to the testing ground of CM 13, a custom ROM made using the latest mythical Android M.... Don't forget to make backup of your existing system using TWRP/CWM Backup feature, just in case you wish to go back the land of Stock or Touchwiz....
See you on the dark side.....

CM 13 Discussion in general or CM 13 in original development. I strongly suggest, you read and take careful steps before trying anything. Most important, always make backup of your current system using TWRP backup feature before installing.
READING IS SUGGESTED BUT BACKUP IS MANDATORY.

If someone need the latest and most stable, smoothest custom rom. I recommend v12.04 with SpaceX kernel. This is the best I've ever known. But i prefer Note5 UI, so that I come with V13.2. It's stable at the moment but sometimes phone gets hot and I have to restart phone to stop heating

If Note 5 Port, eRobot v13.2 + Talexop Kernel and if Note 4 Stock, eRobot v12.04.
No FC, No Freeze , No Lags and No Bugs.
@erobot is the Best for N910C.

Then install the ROM.

Wipe Dalvik Cache in TWRP, then flash the Kernel.
After flashing, Wipe Dalvik Cache again.
Then ReBoot to System.
And use your phone as usual for min. 2days.
Then you can feel and realise the performance. [emoji106]

Hi,
I have just rooted my phone. Which rom should I flash if battery backup, screen colour (yellowish) are the issues I am facing on stock rom?
Or should I apply some patched to correct these problems on stock rom itself?

Also I don't need wifi calling or Fi per se.

Dirty Unicorns is my preference in Rom's. I've tried several and it's all up to personal preference. A custom Kernal is what you will need to flash to be able to change the colors. Several Rom's have a Kernal built in that allows this also. I've used Elite, Elemental and AK kernals. They are all good.
