Hi there.
This afternoon I have had these notification warnings in Chinese popping up. I'm running the superman rom and kernel and have been on powersaving mode and connected to a public WiFi. Any ideas? I have also scanned for malware
Thanks!
That's the behavior I was trying to describe in a post I made here yesterday: http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/popups-gray-ovals-screen-japanese-t3415299
Using Google Translate, the Chinese text in the first photo says, "Files processed:", and the the second photo says something about "startup file monitoring service". I can't figure out what app or service these popups are associated with. (I'm running a stock, unrooted Verizon S7 Edge.)
Weired Chiness Notification
Hi All,
From Yesterday , i also am facing this same issue. It keeps on popping every few mins . I tried to disconnect my device from internet connection and still it pops up . Kindly suggest a solution.
UPDATE : Suspected issues , ES Explorer . Going by the translation posted by Cobra , i un-installed ES explorer and the notification stopped. Will monitor it for some more time
Regards
Ishan

Hi All,
ES explorer is the root cause of this . Kindly uninstall ES and the notification will stop . Kindly go through user review on play store to confirm the same.

Arh thanks very much everyone! I've uninstalled the file Explorer.

The problem is in the app ES explorer !!

Hi mate ,
You had installed the game before or you had a bad installation
Is a playstore error
Use a file explorer (root) , search and delete the app giving you problems in the following folders
You may lose the settings of the app , backup app before you do anything
1 Delete the app that is giving you problems at /data/app-lib
2 If the problem continues delete the app at /data/data
3 If problem continues delete also the app at /data/app
Reinstall the app

Hi all,
I have been using my rooted Note 4 SM-N910F for 2 months now (v4.4.4 installed).
I have rooted it in order, among others, to re-install AdAway because I can't live without it.
About 4 days ago, I had the surprise to see that adds were back in apps.
I fired up AdAway which collected new updates (it was set to automatic checking before) and when trying to install the hosts file, the phone suddenly rebooted.
Now, every time I try to add a hosts file in System/etc, the phone reboots and the file is not created. I have tried creating a "host" file.. it's working and as soon as I try to rename it to "hosts", it crashes and reboots.
Has anyone experienced the same behavior ?
What I can dot to debug this ?
I'm opened to any test you can ask me to do.
Thanks in advance
AdAway has never been that good, rooted or not.
Try AdFree http://adfree.bigtincan.com/about.php

Thanks for the advice but this doesn't explain me why my smartphone is crashing when adding a file named hosts in System/etc....
AdFree won't change this fact until I find why it reboots when creating this file.

Yes I have rooted and I have all write permission. Once again, I'm able to create a file named host, set any permission I want but as soon as I rename it to hosts, it restarts the phone.. I'm going to try to make a video to show you.
I'm thinking this morning: could this be a virus? What is the best Antivirus I could try on android?

Hey. Just out of curiosity. We're you able to find a solution for this problem. I have the same issue and is crazy annoying.
Sorry to wake old post, but I am with the same problem in the SM-A310F.
Would love to hear if anyone has a solution.
Thanks!
Is anyone else experiencing a "not found" error when trying to access a Google Drive account through ES File Explorer? This software updated to v3.2.5 recently and aside from a redesigned launcher icon and a slightly modified user interface, I didn't notice anything different until just now when it failed to access my Google Drive.
I emailed the ES File Explorer developers about this problem and here's their response:
"Google has deprecated the old API which ES is using, we will upgrade the API version in next version. Sorry for the inconvenience."
I just hope their next update isn't far off but in the meantime, what are some other quick ways to copy files over to the Nexus Player? I don't think this device allows Bluetooth file sharing.
Same problem, so I just sideloaded the Google drive app and did it that way. Remote is painful to use in that, so I used a BT mouse and keyboard.
i use my network drive and es to transfer stuff but if you dont have one you could set a folder on your pc to be shared over your network and just put the files you need in that folder and point es to that folder.
Yes, this problem just started happening for me a few days ago. (Or so I noticed it a few days ago, not sure when it started.)
Tried deleting and recreating the account share, still same issue. Glad to know it's going to be fixed!
DTB
The ES File Explorer v3.2.5.1 update which is now available on Google Play has resolved the Google Drive access issue.
Thanks, Gabby. I was checking the store for a while, hoping for an update, That release fixed my problems. I was 95% certain that this was an ES problem, but they didn't respond to my problem report last week.
What I was using to work around this was largely staying in ES but popping out to use the Google Drive app when needed. How clunky is that? I was probably going use X-plore as an interim solution, because I've never had a problem with their cloud file management.
I'm using ES File Explorer version 4.0.2.2 and suddenly am having this problem (problem started with this version I believe).

Seriously??
So i will use file commander and disable my files
And report after a few days
This thing is absolutely killing me know
Disabling file manager didnt work
No one knows what it is or how to solve it?????
In my previous phone (xperia z1) it was due to repeated scanning of the external sd card for music due to faulty sd card
I changed the sd card and never faced the problem again
But that won'twon't work here.

If you have root access..
In terminal type...
adb shell
su
pm disable com.android.providers.media/com.android.providers.media.MediaScannerReceiver
You can re-enable it later with:
pm enable com.android.providers.media/com.android.providers.media.MediaScannerReceiver
The reason it's doing this is because it's scanning and indexing everything you have on your phone.. Like the other poster said remove everything to your pc and reboot but into recovery first and clear your cache and see if this helps.

Yes they will be shown it doesn't mess with the pictures or videos. And yes in terminal you do it. I'd make a backup of your system before doing it just to be safe. Also the name may not exactly be the same but you can easily find it by checking all running processes in terminal also.
I just went through this on my S6 running marshmallow. I fixed it by disabling the chrome browser. Might be worth a try. Not sure why it worked.
Erik
I had same thing belive it or not it was chrome disabled it no problems since
FWIW, I just did a Clear Data in app info for Chrome and the media server battery drain is gone. I have been using chrome all day now. Good luck.
Erik
I am having problems after updating my zenfone 2 laser to Marshmallow
1) Gallary not showing pics ( It just show pics on first load after that no pics )
2) Not able to edit text files places in SD Card ( I am using ES file explorer ) .
If anyone has solution to above problem , Please help.
Otherwise I thought of downgrading the firmware to the older version,
I am having another issue while downgrading using ADB Sideload.
It shows me the error:
* cannot read 'UL-Z00L-WW-1.16.40.763-user.zip' *
Screenshots are attached for both the problems...
I'm not sure this will help you...
1) I'm not using stock gallery, not hating it, just don't feel like it, let's take what asus people usually say "make sure update to latest gallery app, and clear gallery data, is this problem still persist? ", or maybe you can check gallery "storage" permission? Is it allowed?
2) same as above, check storage permission,
About adb.. Yes, I can't sideload from recovery too, maybe because M? Don't know, at least we can flash from SD card

1)I was checking for gallary update everyday and just today I got the new update for Gallary, And the problem is solved I guess.
Which gallary app you use by the way.
2)And about the storage permission, es file explorer is allowed to edit files I have checked once again and attached screenshot also.
I'm using quickpic, they did give this app some "I'm not need this feature" thing, well whatever, we can disable those
I'm trying es explorer just now, and I can't save too, I'm a lazy guy, if that doesn't work, I blame the app... Wait till that app update, or just use another file manager

Ok , Well I was also using the same app when Asus gallary was not working properly.
I am using FX explorer now, which is allowing me to edit files in sd card but everytime I save files it shows me error message : " SD card is mounted as read-only" though it saves the file successfully.

@mithips were you able to solve this issue? I got the same problem after upgrading to marshmallow AND then doing a factory reset. Before the factory reset the gallery app was working fine, after that the gallery app doesnt show any photos, but the camera isn't working well at all as well, instagram app gets an error after taking a photo, can't play music, it just works for calling (at least!). But to solve one problem at a time, did you find a solution for your problem @mithips?
Thanks.

My issue got resolved after updating the gallery app and remove gallery data from the app. If you didn't format the phone after the update then do it first. If you have done that earlier then you can try to wipe cache parition.
