[How To] Upgrade Rooted JULY Developers Preview to Official 5.2.2 Release

[EDIT Oct. 25] Here's what I did--cleaned up and corrected for bootloaders--to install the official 5.2.2 update (build date September, 2015) on myrooted tablet running Developers Preview, build date July, 2015.This is only for those who rooted and installed the dev preview before the upgrade/downgrade troubles. It let's you keep all your stuff.
Few important things:
If you don't reset/wipe in TWRP you can keep most of your stuff, including homescreen layout, play store and all apps. However . . .
Google framework, account manager, contact sync and calendar sync get deleted with the update.
I didn't flash Gapps and got bogus insufficient space error [130 Mb free] when I tried later. Restoring framework fixed everything, but it may be best to flash new Gapps (although that can cause problems when update doesn't completely wipe /system, like this one). Up to you.
Oct 26 Update: Based on reported "insufficient space" flashing Gapps--plus testing and researching contacts and calendar--I suggest not flashing Gapps but simply backing up Google services framework before you upgrade and restoring it after. The other google system apps that get deleted don't seem to be needed; if you want to sync Google contacts & calendar on the Fire you can add your google account(s) in Settings, same as on any Android. If you don't want Amazon's stock calendar or contacts, get another from the Play Store. I've updated the instructions to reflect this.
.
HDXposed module is no longer needed for working Play Store.
Xposed Framework: The update doesn't support the version we used with the July dev preview. You must either flash the latest version or flash the uninstaller if you don't want Xposed anymore.
Stock launcher now = com.amazon.firelauncher
Home key now defaults to stock launcher until you pm disable it. (No prompt anymore)
Backup Google Services Framework.
Turn off wifi (airplane mode) and plug in.
Download the zips:

Get latest SuperSU apk (?) Don't know if it's required, but I installed it.
- SuperSU 2.52 Beta: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/chainfire/supersu/supersu-2-52-android-apk-download/
Follow Step 1 of @bibikalka's guide to temporarily install TWRP and while in TWRP:
a. Flash the update
b. Flash Xposed (installer or uninstaller)
c. Flash 5.2.0_stock_recovery_only.zip
d. Choose boot to recovery and install SuperSU when TWRP prompts you.
Confirm you're in recovery, then boot to system and press Exit at "Welcome to Fire OS 5!"
In OS, see if SuperSU is still managing root access. If it's not or you want to update, install the new SuperSU apk and update binaries.
(Wait to reboot unless you can't get su access at next step.)
Block OTA:
a. Disable dcp or otaverifier (whichever you prefer)
b. Rename system/priv-app/devicesoftwareota/devicesoftwareota.apk extension to apk_
Restore Google Services Framework and reboot.
Turn on wifi and sign in to playstore.
Thanks for the guide!

Will this work if my tablet is running the september 5.2.2 and never rooted? Just downgrade to 4.5.3 and go from there?
Or can I just install twrp to flash xposed and get supersu, then reflash the stock recovery?

As far as I understand from my experience of going from unrooted september 5.2.2 to rooted 4.5.3 to rooted september 5.2.2, it should work fine if you go via that route.

This is only for rooted tablets. Follow the steps Hariiiii describes here. There are guides for what he did.
[How To] Upgrade Rooted Developers Preview to Official 5.2.2 Release
Finally i follow the turorial and i forgive flash 5.2.0 recovery and gapps and it works then i flash twrp again by adb and i did wipes and flash update, gapps, xposed and 5.2.0 recovery and i hard bricked my fire. Why?
I order a replacement. What i have to do to have fire os 5 final with root, play store and other launcher?
Thanks
You got bricked because you used a tutorial to root that said at the top, don't use/on hold. Maybe we'll have a new method when you get your replacement.
Could we possibly get a video tutorial on how to do this?
(May be easier for some.)
Ooh, I don't do video and doubt anyone will for this, but that would be kind. You can pm me with questions.
I'll see if I can do a video. However, can you add to the guide how to get to the rooted preview at the start of the guide. I bricked my kindle going from 5.0 or so to 4.5.3 up again to get here and bricked. Probably my bad but it would help if you provide some initial steps for those who just got their tablets. Btw my replacement comes in tomorrow do I'll see what I can do for the video if possible.
Nice guide!
I wonder if HDXposed is still needed to keep the PlayStore working. The clarity on installing GAPPS is kind of missing too

Think we have some confusion. I'll need to make this clearer: This guide is only for people who already have the rooted developer preview--people who did the downgrade/upgrade using the July build. There is no longer a way to use the developer preview to gain root; the latest version (September) ends up causing bricks, as you learned the hard way. Fortunately, it looks like the official 5.2.2 update that Amazon is now OTA distributing can be successfully used in the downgrade/upgrade operation. I'm sure guides for that will be out soon.
Then I'll look for a guide on that and go from there.
Thx for the replies.

Good feedback, thanks. HDXposed is indeed not needed, which of course means Xposed isn't required. If you don't install the new Xposed, though, I suspect the old, non-working one will stay on system even with factory reset. Your thoughts?
(Edit: NVM. Yes, they'll still have old Xposed, so will need new.)
Yeah, Gapps <sigh> It's such a personal thing. (Thinking about how to handle.)

I'm looking into this again. When you flashed "5.2.0 recovery" which zip did you use, 5.2.0_stock_recovery_only.zip or 5.2.0_stock_recovery_uboot.zip? Thanks.
I flashed 5.2.0_stock_recovery_uboot.zip
davigar, you got the developer preview in order to downgrade to OS 4.5.3 and root, is that right? If not, what OS were you on and how did you install it?
EDIT: @davigar Wait a minute--did you not root? Did you just use this tutorial to install the update and that's when you forgot recovery? This will make a difference. Thanks.
I upgrade my kindle to developer preview then i downgrade to 4.5.3, root and upgrade it to 5.2.2 developer with gapps. I followed the newbie friendly tutorial when i bought it. Sorry for my english [emoji16]

Google Play apps download stops roughly 3 quarters in with almost every app

I updated JDCTeam's optimized CM12.1, and that newest update messed with my phone. Factory reset (using TWRP), installed the rom i had before the update, as well as opengapps and SuperSU, and now when I try to download GPlay apps it's stopping at somewhere about 75% for every app I download.
On top of that my phone keeps freezing in the gplay store (can't do anything, need to pull battery)

FIXED! I had installed opengapps Aroma and I guess I had an old version or something, I downloaded gapps nano, wiped, reinstalled the rom and gapps and it works great. No superSU this time, so that might be the cause but I've never had supersu mess up on me so..
i installed an old version of supersu (1.94) and that was the issue, installed 2.52 and everything is fine

supersu is completely unrelated to the problem you were having.

Yeah, I'm not the most knowledgable about this stuff. I didn't want to completely rule out supersu so I just included that little bit
update! gapps wasn't the problem
turns out it actually was supersu, i was installing 1.94 instead of 2.52 (the first result in google is chainfire's website to the download of 1.94 with no other mention of any other versions)
it messed up gplay, my SMS and a lot more, my fault I guess. now i know i guess

[Guide] Install Chinese Beta Firmware 6.4.16 (EMUI 4.0, Android 6.0) from 2016.04.16

Taken in parts from information provided by Gluk41 on the russian 4pda forum, here is a simple guide how to install the latest Chinese Marshmallow (beta) on your Honor 4c / GPlay mini:
Be aware that:
all userdata will be erased, TWRP recovery, gapps and root have to be redone
system partition is almost full, pico opengapps barely fit (better to remove some apps)
this is a developer beta version for the chinese market (but has all languages included)
Downloads & Installation
Flash TWRP from here and backup whatever you need
Download the complete 6.4.16 ROM here and copy the dload folder to SD card
Flash the region information for UL00 umicom / cn from TWRP
Reboot and all 3 buttons pressed until the installation starts
--
Update: For your convenience I put all 3 files in the Mega Folder
--
The 3 button method uses its own built-in recovery and can be used with TWRP installed! All 3 buttons might have to be pressed for quite some time (20sec or even longer) until it starts. The ROM installs fine with the correct region information, otherwise it will fail around 5%.
TWRP & root
TWRP will be replaced by the standard recovery and needs to be re-flashed. For Root follow the MM Root thread by inshaalmirza. I had to flash the current SuperSU 2.7.1 beta twice until it worked.
The pre-installed app 'Phone Manager' seems to block SuperSU from working correctly. You might not see the root request if you start an app that requires root. A work-around is, to manually start SuperSU before or after starting the app that requires root. The, request eventually will pop up after a few seconds. Either uninstall the Phone Manager or configure it not to block SuperSU.
Google Apps
This ROM comes without Google Apps and a lot of chinese apps pre-installed. The system partition is almost full. Therefore it is recommended to remove some of the chinese apps before flashing Gapps. Use the openGapps arm64 6.0 pico version, others will not fit unless you remove a lot of the pre-installed apps. Flash the Gapps via TWRP, reboot and let the phone settle for a few minutes. After unlocking, you will get a black screen. Reboot in TWRP and wipe all user data. After the next reboot, setup wizard should start and everything should be fine.
Enjoy but be aware, it is just a developer beta version.
In China the latest update is 6.2.1,not 6.4.16. I wonder where is 6.4.16 from.Sorry for my bad English.

[Honor 7i/ShotX] Xposed Framework

Hi everyone !
So saw some thread about xposed framework but nobody got it to work, so I decided to try myself and after softbricking my device managed to install it and use it.
It's not hard to do it so I'm sure you'll be able to do it.
Tested on my Huawei ShotX ath-ul01/ath-ul06
Requisites:
Root
Custom Recovery
Please I STRONGLY suggest to have a backup in case something goes wrong.
Steps:
Download the Xposed Framework installer here and the uninstaller (if something goes wrong).
Follow the instructions on this thread and download everything you need.
Boot on recovery mode.
Make a backup (optional but suggested).
Install the zip.
Wipe Cache and Dalvik (bootloop if not).
Done!
If it doesn't work you can uninstall the framework with the uninstaller you downloaded in the first step.
All the credits go to @rovo89 and @mfbcool. I just made this so everything gets clear.
If you have any question, feel free to leave a comment
how to root ath-ul06 ?? to install Xposed

SM-A7000. Port Stock ROM wIth Google Apps

I got scammed by an online reseller and send a SM-A7000 with bloated adware when I ordered a SM-A700H. To get rid of the adware I flashed Samsung Official rom 5.0.2 but now I can't get gapps to work.
I have rooted the phone with the SM-A700H root recovery but moving the gapps that I got from Apkmirror to the systems\app folder just results in errors that google framework has stopped.
I don't have the skill to extract the framework from the SM-A700H 5.0.2 rom nor Port it to the SM-A7000.
If anyone with the skill can help it would be very very appreciated.
Ok I extracted the GoogleServicesFramework.apk from the SM-A700H and install that on the SM-A7000 but no success.

I don't normally reply to these posts when someone unnecessarily creates a voting thread I usually just ignore, so in future I suggest you create a standard post in Q&A.
You are probably having permissions issues due to the way you have installed GAPPS.
Install a proper GAPPS zip package via TWRP.
Some work better than others. PICO may work.
If you still get issues make sure that each app including all Google services has full permissions in app manager.
Thank you for the help. If I can get a TWRP recovery that works for this phone I would do that. But so far I have not been lucky. I have found several chinese sites that provided options but none seems to work. Or my translator is letting me down.
You don't need twrp. If you have root you can use flashfire.
