HOW can I put files into these folders?
My PC only sees the Mem Card, not the phone itself??
Also, has anyone found the folder for the Wallpapers directory?
Access to this also?
Thanks.
u can use astro from market it is file manager

So, I'm guessing, put mp3's into audio, wallpapers into pic folder on card, then use astro file manager to move them to the phone directory..?
Well, so far, astro has allowed me to browse thru the phone directories, but copy/move any files in there?? Nope.. I can browse the directories without any 3rd party apps, so astro, although easy to look at, offers no benefit to me as yet..
Yes you can copy and or movefiles with astro. When inside a folder hit your left menu button, select edit, select all, then manually deselect the files you do not want to move, then hit the menu button again, edit, copy-or-move. Back out and navigate to the folder you want too place the file into, menu, edit, paste. Sort of round about but it works.

I tried the same thing, using ES File Explorer (which I find much more practical than Astro). No luck.
Could the problem be that we don't have permission to write to the phone's storage, rather than a problem with the apps?
yes, u have not the permission to write in the telephone memory! but its not becessary, us the sdcard, it will work.

Sounds good in theory, however already tried this, and the "Paste" option is not available once i'm in the file folder i want to put the files into..
Also, still hoping someone will shed some light on the location of the wallpaper gallery..
I have a few questions re: the gallery that I'd love some help with.
1. Gallery doesn't update a folder if I move a picture using a file explorer (Astro or Root Explorer for example). If I reboot the phone then the picture shows up in the correct directory. I'm guessing that restarting the gallery app would do the same thing. Anyone else having this issue?
2. Is there a way to have the gallery only look to one location for pics? I hate how it always grabs every image on my SD Card. Especially if you have Bejeweled installed. It adds about 10 folders of images that I don't want to have to browse through. Is there another gallery app that would allow me to set this if the stock gallery doesn't work that way?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Also noticing that the Gallery just doesn't update frequently. I thought it did this every time you opened it, but I guess not. Is there a way to force programs to re-scan the SD card?
SDRescan in the market works perfectly... and if you want to keep the folder from being seen in the gallery, just add a blank text file to the folder and rename it .nomedia
Thanks odrecords. Both of those work perfectly.
stock gallery will grab images from any folder on your SD if you don't want your gallery to load em theres two ways when in gallery hit menu then show hide. this will do as it says and either load or not load certain folders. Other option is to place a period in front of the folder name u want hidden i.e. ".test". This will hide it from the Android system in general but not file explorers.
This is best way to hide your folders in android and you don't require a software for it.
You just have to rename the folder starting with dot (.)
For eg. to hide
My folder
just rename it as
.myfolder
isn't that easy.
no nned to use ur pc u can do it directly using ur phone/
some file managers automatically show those folders

I use an app called Hide It Pro (shown as Audio Manager in app drawer). Works like a charm. Even the fake Audio Manager can be used to adjust ringer/notification volume etc. Give it a try....

No real folder hide application on android ??
Hi !
I searched applications which could hide folder on my andorid phone incrementally. By saying this i mean that suppose i hide a folder and that folder is used by camera app. If i hide the folder then it shouldnot show on gallery but when camera is used, it can access the folder and save images in it but again if we go to gallery then it should not be shown. Eg: A camera app uses camera folder to put all the images taken. So if i hide camera folder then the camera can use it to save the folder yet not showing in the gallery. So i dont have to hide the pictures again when new are taken. Is there any app which can do this??

Use QuickPic to hide folders, but camera folder can't be hidden.
brother, This is basic things on androids.. I think you should look at this..
Basic of android
1.How to take a screenshot on my phone
2. How to format my phone (2 methods).
3. How to Hide File or Folder without application.
4. General profile mood to silent mood vice versa.
5. Start or end the Call pressing Button.
6. How to Root My Phone.
7. Track your lost phone.
8. How to Force Restart – Reboot my phone.
9. What is my Android version.
10. What to do when application doesn’t work.
What I want to do is create a short cut to a folder that is located on an external sd card and put it on my home screen.
I have tried alot of file managers and none I tried have this option. I did come across one fike manager which i could create a shortcut but it only had access to the internal memory.
Can anyone recommend a suitable app which i can install?
File manager HD works fine

I cant access the external SD card using file manager hd
Did you try to navigate back in the directory tree by pressing parent? You might need root for that.

What rom are you running???
If you are on Thor's rom he calls the external sdcard something else and most file managers won't see it with out editing the name.

If you're still on File manager HD, press HOME, and then UP and you'll see your external_sd. Otherwise it is located in mnt/ folder. If you're running thor's ROM 14.2 it is under mnt/Removable/MicroSD
shortcut to external sd

Hi all, by the life of me I was not able to create a shortcut with FM HD. A bookmark in FM HD yes, no problem.
I run stock rom.
I am running Thor's ROM 14.2
found it through File Manager HD, had to press Home and Up Twice and then in the Removable Folder. Thanks for that.
Now, back to my original query, I still am unable to create a short cut to my home screen. The options that presents include, Details, Open, Copy, Delete, Move, Rename, Permissions (all boxes ticked), Bookmark and Compress

Could be wrong here, but I don't think that's possible in Android. You can't put shortcuts (or linked files) on your Android desktop...at least the stock one (don't know if there's a launcher that has this capability). I have tried in many versions of Android with no success. You could, in a terminal, use Busybox to create a linked file/directory in /data/app or /data/app-private, but the link doesn't show up on the desktop (at least not for me).
With File Manager HD you can add a folder shortcut from the widget drawer, the far right tab (i'm on ICS so I can't check for the exact tab name). From there you can add a FMHD shortcut for a chosen folder.
Just installed File Browser Widget and I think it's a great little app you might want to try.
http://market.android.com/details?id=com.ceenic.filebrowserwidget&feature=search_result&hl=en
I know this might be too late but ES file Explorer can do sth like this. Simple long-press on a folred and choose "Shortcut" and you get one on your desktop.
Install File manager HD, go to the Widgets section on the apps drawer in the OS, and there is a widget for File Manager HD, add it to your home screen, it will then prompt you to create a shortcut to a folder of your choice, even one on the External SD

I was going to mention ES as well. They made it remarkably simple. Something that's kinda neat is that you can choose folder color between yellow and blue. Then, when you shortcut a folder, it will be the color of the folder at the time you created the shortcut. And it holds even after a reboot. Could be useful to have different colored shortcuts for organizing.
Es goes way beyond shortcuts, you get a full featured file browser with root browsing (in settings) as well as a network browser, ftp, file editor, permission editor... So much more.
Hello this is a guide to "move" you apps to your SD card for users with small Internal Storage
Update:There is now a faster way to do it.
After step 3 you just press the menu option on the top left corner and you press app analyzer.
This will show you an descending list of your apps sorted by their obb and file size.
Select the app you want to transfer it's obb from to SD (you can also choose to move its data)
Pair the data and you are done
Much faster
Much easier.
This GUIDE is for ROOTED PHONES ONLY it wont work with unrooted phones so please if you want to procced you MUST have a rooted phone
This method uses an app called Folder Mount (Free from Play Store) that allows the use to move large app files to external storage saving up internal space.
Instructions:
1) Download the App from Play Store called Folder Mount
App Link :https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devasque.fmount
2) Once its installed open the app
3)Once the app is open it will ask you for root access press "GRANT"
!!! ATTENTION AS MENTIONED BEFORE THE APP WORKS ONLY ON ROOTED PHONES!!!
4)To use the app just press the "+" (cross) on the Top Right corner this will get you to Folder Pair Settings
5)In the "Name" slot you can name the Setting depending on what you want.
5.1) Example if you want to transfer the files from Dead Trigger https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.madfingergames.deadtrigger you can name it "Dead Trigger"
6) When you name the setting you press on "Source" this will get you to a file manager like screen where you choose the source of your file (MOST devices default source will be Android/obb/"game"
6.1)For Example the path for Dead Trigger on my phone (XPERIA SP) is (as shown in the Folder Mount App) /storage/sdcard0/Android/obb/com.madfingergames.deadtrigger
6.2) ATTENTION you must NOT sellect the WHOLE directory because that wont give you any editing or mounting options at all
6.3)ATTENTION when you are selecting the game file folder you must go into the folder (tap on the folder for example in this case com.madfingergames.deadtrigger) that will get you to the games directory so you are not choosing the whole game directory thus causing a big mess
7)When you sellect the games directory press the "check" button on the top right corner
8)After you press the cross a mesage will come up saying if you want the app to create a default destination folder
8.1) Press Yes and the app will create a default directory on your external SD (mine is /storage/sdcard1/Android/obb/com.madfingergames.deadtrigger)
8.2)Press No and choose your custom directory on your SD to save the folder in and then to apply the changes pless the "check" button
9)Afer you set up your destination folder just press the"check" button on the top right corner to finish
9.1) I would not suggest checking the " Exclude from media scan" box
10)After you pressed the "check" button it may show up a message telling you that your source directory is not empty (you already know that or why would you bother moving an empty folder) and by procceding it may overwrite some files.
Just press "Yes" on this.
11) Now it will go to the home screen and a message on the notification bar will tell you that files are being moved.
11.1)DO NOT START THE GAME TO CHECK the work is not done yet
12)Near the name you gave on step 5 you will see a thumbpin.
When the thumbpin is Green it means that the directory is mounted on your SD saving up Internal Storage Space
You can mount or unmount all your directories by pressing the thumbpin icon on the bottom right and bottom left corner (left -> mounts right -> unmounts)
13)after you mounted your game's directory test it out it should work
!!!!Here is a demo video to help you get started!!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJLJZs7oqPE
Method Pros
1)Easy to use
2)Very fast transfering the files
3)Flexible (you can mount and unmount depending on wht you need)
4)Saves up a lot of time
Method Cons
1) The Free Version Supports only up to 3 pairs
Overall a great app for rooted phones
If you have any questions post them bellow
Thank you.
Nice, thankyou very much for your tutorial, was looking around for this one. By the way, when i mounted it, i checked to see if it played, it worked. But when i went on root explorer, how come the com.(what ever game) is still there in the Android/Obb folder? Doesn't it move since it moved to another location?
And also another quick question, if the game(any game) updates, does it update to the mounted folder?
Or do i start the whole process again with FolderMount?
Thank you Very Much

When you mount a directory Folder Mount keeps the old folder in the Android/obb/"folder" so when you delete the Pair it can transfer the game files to their original directory.
It is pretty much normal!
Also i forgot to add thanks for your kind words

but am I correct in assuming that the App would move Files from the Internal 8GB rom to an Actual Micro SD card?
8gb internal memory is the only thing putting me off buying this phone,
regards
