Vertical green line on the right side of the screen :( - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Welp, today my babied and perfect Samsung S7 Edge took a dump.
Was typing a text message when the screen went black.
Now occasionally it boots up and lets me login, however as soon as I swipe my finger or type password it blacks out.
If I lock it and try again it might repeat the process it might now.
I can take good screenshots while the screen is black but obviously cant see much.
Is it possible for me to back anything up?
From Textra?
I remotely installed SideSync but cant run it on the phone
New phone will be here Monday so I can toy trying to backup some stuff.

Screen Burn In

I don't know if anyone else has ever had this problem but when out in the sun ( I think this is the only time to actually see it) I can see a burn in of the previous view. One example is sliding the app drawer up then sliding it back down I can see the apps and a thick bar that is the app tab sliding down. I am using the T-Mobile G1 and am wondering if this is a hardware problem or something else.
i noticed this too, i on't believe it is an issue and i don't think we can fix it. the only time i see it when i get my recommended daily dosage of sunlight wich is about 15 minutes, the rest of the time i am in a dark room in a basement on my computer
Ok I just didn't want to go on thinking my phone was supremely messed up.
i am a vampire, so i shouldn't have a problem with this haha
but good looking out.
i get the same thing.. only with mine I can see it when the device is turned off... recently its been overheating so i'm hoping TMO UK will switch it
I usually see it right when i force the device off (pull battery or Call+Menu+End reboot) for about 5 seconds and then it goes away. I'm not sure if my phone's behavior is normal and yours is messed up or what but something is amiss somewhere
I guess it's simply the way these LCD screen is updated. You don't really get 1ns response time with these small screens. They may even been designed this way to save power.
If you watch carefully, you may see the screen slowly fade away when you turn off the phone.
Yeah I tried it and you're probably right ( not sure how it saves power) but it does fade away after I turn it off.

G1 screen colors broken

I was in my classes today, and i went to unlock my G1, and as i did, i saw that the colors of the screen were messed up. This meaning that, there were four to five white/grey pixelated bars separating the screen, and when i went to pull up the menu, the screen experiences what seemed to be a great amount of lag, and the white and grey bars seemed ti fill up more of the screen. When i boot up the phone, it is followed by just a black screen where the G1 should be, and when the android logo comes up, from the latest cyan, its all chopped up.
once the phone rebooted i went to slide the screen up to horizontal mode, and it was clear, and perfectly fine, but after i closed it once more, the screen just stayed black. i took out the battery and rebooted, and the same things happened again.
any idea what happened? is the a solution? should i buy a new phone?
like always, any help is appreciated
Sounds like it needs a wipe. You have something running in the background it sounds like

[Q] Dragging or touch and hold not working

Hi all,
I have pretty weird problem with my rooted galaxy s4. I can't drag icons or anything. If I long press anything on desktop or any game or actually anywhere on my phone it acts like it was normal click. So in example if I try to drag browser to somewhere else on screen it opens it.
I have cleaned the screen so it shouldn't be the problem.
I removed the screen protector.
Cleaned screen again.
I flashed back to stock rom. (problem happens on cyanogenmod too)
I oiled my hands just to test if those were too dry or something like that.
I have no idea what is causing this.
It might have something to do with that when I was trying to call samsung to check if they had any ideas and when I was in their press this number if you want this menu my phone started to press buttons on its own so I ended up something like 31254665423213254 on screen. Although this was first time that I notices this kind of behaviour and I haven't been able to reproduce it so it might have been just some random event.
Does any one have any ideas at all what could fix this, Samsung does not and they won't fix my phone since it's rooted.
Edit I put the option that shows touches on screen on and it showed me tens of little balloons running on screen so there is definitely something weird going on. I have screenshot of it but I can't post it since I have too new account.
Since it happens on more roms, it's most probably a hardware issue

This happened two days ago with my wife's S7 Edge. She was using it to text me about dinner plans after work, her screen shut off, and it wouldn't work for several hours. The thing was getting very hot. When she was home and charging the phone the screen started working again for a little while, but with several green stripes down the right edge snd aa flashing horizontal band of grey near the top overlaying the screen image. Then when I tried plugging it into my computer to use Samsung's Smart Switch to roll back from the update she had accepted while at work the screen died again. It has not come on since, not even the stripes, and blue or red LED lights once in a wwhile at random. I managed to use Smart Switch to wipe the phone's memory. Then the program took several hours to download something very slowly and install that - a whole new OS update? That completed, and now the charging LED works correctly and the green stripes and grey band are back, flashing rapidly when powering on. Otherwise no screen function.
She is now trying to find a new phone, but definitely NOT a Samsung. This S7 Edge has already had the screen replaced once, just before the first year warranty ran out, as it did almost the same thing - in March the green striping (plus pink) appeared along one edge and the battery was running out very fast, the phone overheating so much that she found it uncomfortable to hold. We argued with Samsung a lot until they replaced the screen. Something is VERY wrong with this model. She's considering an LG. What a waste of money. One would expect a thousand dollar phone to last longer than this.
I am facing what I think to be the same issue with my son's phone. Green line down right side edge. Screen turns on for a second, then black screen. It's on, but can't do anything. Did you find a fix for this?
No. Today I gave up and took my wife's S7 Edge to the authorized repair centre. They say they'll run a diagnostic for $25, and if the screen needs to be replaced it will cost $385. Brilliant. If this thing gets fixed I will be running custom ROMs on the phone, probably an RR, as it seems Samsung's OTA updates kill phones.
Turned in out the authorized repair centre for our region, Acura in Surrey, BC, went ahead with the screen replacement without our authorization. I specifically said in a note given to them at the time that they were to ask first. But they didn't bother. My wife decided she liked the phone enough to pay over $400 to get it back. It's been working for a few weeks now. Hope it stays working. At this point I have a strong feeling that the S7 Edge was a poorly made device, at least some batches. The reports of these screen failures are just too common.
Check if your screen still alive or maybe connected correctly, here is a way to do it:
1- plug it in your computer then start smart switch
2- dail *#7353#
3- you can now test any thing in your phone
4- search for the TSP
5- try now to touch your device screen
If it display in the computer that mean the touch is working but the screen is not
If the toch is not working you have to check the cables if its connected correctly inside your phone
But if you have warranty don't waste your time and let them fix it, and don't forget to backup your files

S7 EDGE screen keeps flickering

I recently got a 2nd hands S7 Edge. It had a software issue (I'm guessing he tried to install a custom Rom but forgot to unlock the BL...). So I reinstalled stock android 8.0.0 and it went successful. Before I installed android, it already had a glitchy flickering screen. When brightness is MAX and it's on AUTO, most of it disappears. But when the phone gets a little hot, it comes back. This is very annoying since it's on the bottom of the screen and there are a lot of buttons there, so I can't really see where I'm pressing. I have tried master reset via android recovery. Nothing happened. I have also tried via safe mode, still the same. I have checked the Liquid Damage Indicator and it's still good. There aren't any major scratches on the screen. Just a some small scratches on the home button. And the glitch already appears when the Samsung logo comes up. Idk if this is useful but the glitch isn't visible in a SS.
I hope someone can help me with this.
I will post pictures in like an hour, because this is the only phone I have access to.
Thanks in advance!
