OEM unlock is disabled when doing the bootloader session with 1+2....
But I found out that in setting and developers options click on... OEM unlocking allow bootloader to unlock please don't do what I did and go crazy just ask Google..
So you cant unlock bootloader but your OEM is unlocked? This happend to me as well, I did just lock the OEM reboot phone, unlocked an reboot phone and it worked. It may happed that you get stuck on the OP2 boot screen cause sometimes there is a casuality when you unlock bootloader without unlocked OEM but then unlock it nad try to unlock bootloader. If this is your case prepare the guide or do full recovery via the manual here on forum.
I was wondering cause I have the revolution rom and all the sudden it's telling me that theme browser had stopped crazy huh http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/57b7be7cd619a/1471652128518.png?

If you didn't attempt to root it, it should be locked

I just bought mine from someone on craigslist...
Is there a way to tell if it has been unlocked
well heres what happened
i had unlocked and rooted the xoom then attempted to relock it.
relocking failed and bricked the device.
after about 3 hours of trying to figure out how to fix it going through numerous tries of rsd lite and unlocking and relocking i somehow got it to work so i dont know if it unlocked or locked.
i do not have superuser icon in my app drawer though
well ive booted into fastboot and tried the commands fastboot oem unlock and fastboot oem lock and both work so thats not a way to see if it works
im out of ideas
Hello.
I want to root my phone but I have a problem with launching fastboot...
Holding down search key while plugging in the phone doesn't run the fastboot mode ;(
Any advice?
Im in the same boat as you. We are forever locked out of fastboot. Makes me want to ditch the phone to tell you the truth.
Man, got it yesterday and now I'm really disappointed...

If your device is branded or sim locked, fastboot mode has been locked, developers are working on this though
Ok, now it's not a problem for me cause I just wanted a root for my R800i. Followed one of the users manual (i think it was called like "Root 2.3.3 with locked bootloaders"). But still waiting for a dev who will make our phones possible to unlock BL.

Yea yea I hope something happens on that front soon I want an unlocked bootloader so I can start trying other roms and kernels
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
i don't know if this has been tried or not, but with the phone running normally, and usb debuggng turned on try "adb reboot bootloader" and see if that gets you into fastboot
It just does a normal reboot

Theres a bounty for this in the dev section. Add to it, may increase progress.
Hey! Unfortunately, we're not able to do anything at this moment, because the TA unit telling is the fastboot mode allowed or not is hash-protected, so we can't modify it.
Here is a tutorial to unlock the bootloader on our Moto X Play: http://www.gammerson.com/2015/08/steps-how-to-unlock-bootloader-of-moto-x-play.html
The warranty is not there after this, is there any way to lock it again without Motorola being able to see that it was unlocked?

The unlocked bootloader warning message can easily be removed too: http://www.droidviews.com/remove-bootloader-unlocked-warning-on-moto-x-and-moto-x-2014/ I tested it and it work on our Moto X Play.
Oops.....completely forgot that this will wipe the phone (as all devices do when unlocking the bootloader).

This will work even if it's a Moto X 2014 logo? I'm a little uneasy in doing this.

So far, hasn't caused any issues for me.
Worked for me too
If I just remove the message, won't the technical assistance be aware that I unlocked the bootloader?

They already know since you requested the bootloader unlock code. From the terms and conditions:
THE FOLLOWING APPLIES TO ALL UNLOCKED DEVICES EXCEPT FOR DEVELOPER EDITION DEVICES. BY OBTAINING THE UNLOCK CODE FOR THIS DEVICE, IRRESPECTIVE OF WHETHER THE DEVICE'S BOOTLOADER IS SUBSEQUENTLY UNLOCKED OR ITS SOFTWARE OR OPERATING SYSTEM IS MODIFIED, USER AGREES TO WAIVE AND VOID ALL WARRANTIES

Removing the message is more for us, so we don't need to keep seeing it.

nope not dangerous, rather you can have more control over your device than Motorola gives you.

Failed to unlock Bootloader. Check "Allow OEM unlock" in Developer Options.
Anyone please help me.
I tried to install the official OTA and something went wrong. The device got stuck into bootloops. I entered into bootloader and decided to unlock it. As adviced by the xda thread i followed the instructions, but after getting the Unique key via Email, when i enter "fastboot unlock OEM UNLOCKKEY", it gives an error saying Failed to unlock Bootloader. Check "Allow OEM unlock" in Developer Options.
I cannot boot my phone.
Please help me.

i recall this problem happening to someone earlier, he solved it by clearing cache and factory wipe from recovery
bootloader>>recovery>>factory reset and clear cache

There is a thread I created for the first timers.
You have to check the option "allow oem unlock" in developer options.
Please check the whole forum for details before doing anything like this.

If you leave it unlocked after rooting then it can make your phone more susceptible to localised threats like someone stealing your phone and re-purposing it or stealing your data from it directly.
But for many the reward outweighs the risks and there are ways to mitigate.
Trying to unlock Moto X Play on Linux by using "fastboot oem get_unlock_data", but it just says waiting for device. I ran "adb devices" and also enable "Allow unlocking device" in the Developer menu. Am I missing something?
Hello all,
just like the title says,
I have an LG V20 with an unlocked bootloader, and unlocked recovery with TWRP and it is Rooted.
With this in mind, is it possible to SIM Unlock the device?
Or would I have to remove root, or lock the bootloader?
EDIT: Let me verify, I have a T-Mobile variant, but I would assume this is a general question, that's why I posted here.
Is there an alternative way to SIM Unlock other than using the Unlock app? Right now, the app is just hanging and spinning forever, so that's why I was curious.
Another inquiry,
Am I able to go back to my LG V20 T-Mobile variant stock firmware? Then I can use recowvery to go back to where I am now.
Thanks!
A quick update:
I found this article:
http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...ng-bootloader-affect-network-lock/23311#23311
Is this still relevant?
If the reason that the T-Mobile app is failing on my device could just be a T-Mobile issue then? It's unlocked on their end, it's just that my phone is hanging at the "Connecting to servers" area of the T-Mobile SIM Unlock app. The main screen.
if your phone is on an EIP installment plan and it's not paid off, every attempt at an unlock will fail. this is from my experience. pay off the phone, and the unlock will work.

It is completely paid off and not through an EIP plan. The engineers there have told me that my device is showing "Unlocked" on their end. But on my phone, because I have the bootloader unlocked, custom recovery, and root. I'm assuming that's the reason my T-Mobile Unlocker app is not working.
So I just need to go back to stock for 5 seconds to get the app to work, and then I will be home free, and can run the TWRP I have of this moment to come back to this point in time on my device.
I think your answer is correct. relock, go stock, factory reset, unlock, than restart BL unlock, root process again.

After I relock, how do I go to stock?
I still have a custom recovery (TWRP) on my device.
And when you re-lock your bootloader, doesn't it format your device? And because I have a custom recovery, wouldn't it brick my device after I lock it and it tries to wipe the device?
Look in the guides section for the v20. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3504798

are you sure it is not unlocked. I went through this with my phone it is unlocked as I am using an att sum, but the app will still say that .
I am trying to unlock my bootloader and root my phone but I am unable to turn on the OEM unlocking feature in developers options. Several months ago I returned/restored the phone's stock image. I previously rooted my phone but decided to unroot it. Now I am attempting to root it again but I cannot unlock the bootloader by switching on OEM unlocking.
The OEM Unlocking option is greyed out and appears to be locked or inaccessible. I have attached a screen shot.
Can someone tell me what I must do to fix this.

Are you sure the BL is locked now? If not boot into BL and check it. In any case Google is your friend:

That's why I don't see any sense in relocking, I can't find any advantage in it.

I hear you Wolfcity. And it is something that seems to come up on every device I have owned starting with the Moto G2 (G3, G4, G5+, & G5s+). I have had users flat out tell me I am wrong and that you need to relock the device in order to go back to stock or remove root. :silly:
