240fps in custom rom? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

as the title says, is there a way to enable 240fps in a custom rom and if possible without gapps? i can get it to film 120 but not 240

Not a developer but I am running PURE NEXUS and I consider it a Custom Rom. It does shoot 120 and 240. So I guess yes it's possible, but dev might have to enable something somewhere or something....

tried alot of camera apps including open camera which lets me do 120, the cyanogenmod camera which also lets me do 120 and others from playstore which just captured normal video from what i found. I can't find any google camera in the play store, do you mean this? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.photos

guys, found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/themes-apps/mod-google-camera-t3279714 which is meant for a 5x but i find it works amazing on my 6p. Just a apk, no other gapps with it which i like alot as i prefer to keep my devices without gapps whenever possible. Its basically a stock google camera that came with the 6p/5x and works very well.

im using dirty unicorns with google camera installed and can do 240fps recording

Yes that's a modded version of the Google camera. No gapps? To each is own I guess. But Google camera is the only way you will get hdr+ and 240. Not that another app can't have those features it's just that those are not open sourced so someone would have to port from another source or write code

Thank you for making the open source things clear.

I'd like to find a camera that supports video at 60fps. Focal has a setting but it does not work.
Stock camera does not remember the 60 fps setting for me. I have to set it every time I open the cam :_(

CM camera app is stable now, although its output leaves a bit to be desired. The only real bug with it now is low volume when recording video. There is a ported version of the ASUS camera app that gives OK results for photos, but video is not working on that.
I am using this apk. thanks dude!

As far as I can tell, identical to the CM AOSP camera app with just the addition of lens blur function (which kind of works, unlike the depth of field mode on the ported ASUS camera app, which crashes on mine). Both the stock and Google apps produce very grainy results though. The ported ASUS app is better.

I am using it in Cyanogen, someone ported it to work (you can't just download it from the playstore, you need a ported version). If you search the Cyanogen thread on the Zenfone 2 Original Android Development sub-page, you can find the link for it. They got the flash working, and most of the modes (super res, manual etc) seem to function. But as I said, video recording is broken, and the depth of field mode also crashed for me.

Using Google Camera 4.2.035.141213305 on Oxygen OS 4.0(N) OTA

I was hoping for improved camera software with the new Oxygen OS 4.0(N) OTA release. To my chagrin there seemed to be no improvements made, so as an alternative I downloaded and installed Google Camera 4.2.035.141213305 (arm64 version for Android 7.1+)
Get it by clicking on the link below:
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...amera-4-2-035-141213305-android-apk-download/
The Google camera app AI appears to be better at determining optimal settings on the fly. The in app photo sphere, panorama, and lens blur features are nice additions too.
I found that if you have the time to make HQ, HDR, and manual mode adjustments, you can still get better pictures with the stock Oneplus version 1.4.0 camera app than the Google Camera app. but most users simply want to point and shoot.
When I give my 3T to a novice to take a picture, or when I need to to take a quick picture in a pinch, I find the Google Camera app takes better photos.
The app works beautifully, aside from the fact I can't get it to open using the button shortcuts after setting it as the default camera app.
Download the Google Camera 4.2.035.141213305 (arm64 version for Android 7.1+) app, and tell me what you think.
If you encounter button launch problem too, let me know, or come up with a solution.
When I try to install on my OP3T with OS 4.0 I get an error stating there was a problem parsing package. Installed Google Camera 4.1 without issue though.

Only tried with double tap to the power button and it works. Still rather sad though because no Auto-HDR+ like I was hoping. Still adjusting to the non-nexus life since my Nexus 5x bricked. (^_^)
How were you able to launch 4.2 ?it requires android 7.1 ! (we only have 7.0)
use this
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...06-126161292-2-android-apk-download/download/
You can unpack an APK file change the min version required and repack and install the APK. Although, I'm assuming that the min version requires 7.1 for a valid reason such as a required framework/library or something...
or here for 4.2 version 7.0

Google Camera 4.2.035.141213305 is working, but the spherical photo shoots without focusing.
I like using the double-tap power button to start the camera. Did anyone get the Google camera to open this way? Which version is recommended for OOS 4.1?
The google camera doesn't even have an option to mirror images taken with the selfie cam

Best alternative Camera App

I just got my new Mi A1 and i found that the stock camera app is very good in good light conditions, although in poor light i got only blurred photos.. I tried to install the google camera (stock apk and also the hdr+ mod) but it always freeze and stop when i launch it.. I don't have root, so camera2 api aren't activated (and the hdr+ don't work without that), but i thought i could have used the google camera as a normal camera app just to try it.. are there any good camera alternatives that i can try or should i root to improve photo quality in low light?
Without rooting i don't think you can improve camera quality much
Maybe you can try open camera and see if it helps much.
I tried most camera apps out there and the best option is root, enable EIS/Camera2 in the build prop and ported Google cam with HDR+.
Rooting is easy enough on the A1, but if you don't want to do that try the latest HTC camera on apkmirror. Only thing not working on that camera is the HDR mode; it crashes if you turn it on. It will give you better photos indoors with normal lighting conditions. Low light/night will still be quite blurry.
Thanks a lot, i'll try the opencamera and the htc one, cause i decided to wait until andorid oreo for root.. ? anyway, any idea why the google camera apk (from apkmirror) doesn't work?

Because you need to enable Camera2 API in the build.prop. Otherwise it won't work.
You can install an old version of the Google cam like v2.7 but then you don't have HDR+. Other than that it works fine, though.
Try AZ camera
Well this is just my view but after trying open camera,
Snapdragon camera, the default camera hht mode, and bacon camera. I got the best results for night shots using the bacon camera manual mode and selecting the Sutter speed set to the lowest of 1/8 but keep in mind you need to keep your hands very steady. I used my selfie stick as a stand it helped me keep steady.

And one month later you'll ask why OTA update fails to apply.. Just wondering, why do you prefer direct modification of system files instead of systemless Magisk? It really puzzles me why some people do and suggest this without mentioning the drawbacks.

Try Bacon Camera (CameraApi2 Free)
Check out the bacon camera from play store, you don't require root and it is specifically made for non supported CameraApi2 Phones,
It has a ton of manual settings.
Hope it helps

[Q] Camera app for custom ROM | Slow-mo & Portrait

Hello guys,
I know, there are loads of threads about cameras, but I couldn't find one which gave a perfectly working replacement.
Recently I tried switching to a custom ROM: AOSPExtended. The ROM itself is amazing, however its camera is not...
Portrait mode is missing and the entire video mode is crashing.
Is it possible to have the ORIGINAL AOSP camera somehow on my ROM? It has everything I love, including portrait
and slow-mode, which I've never seen in any other app.
If it's not possible, can anyone point me an alternative where both slow-motion and portrait are working?
For example this one:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/tool-google-camera-root-magisk-enable-t3747585
Is quite nice, but as soon as I try slow-motion it crashes everytime. Is there any solution or alternative?
Thank you!
There's a port of the stock camera from the stock ROM but it uses telephoto for slow motion and it looks disgusting. For the portrait though I'm on Bootleggers ROM and portrait works just fine. And for gcam slow motion, there's no way of getting it right now on Oreo besides buying the Pixel

Also, GCam mod works on AOSPExtended.
Make sure your build.prop has been edited correctly, or you have installed an appropriate module for enabling Camera2Api.
