hi everyone. at first sorry for my english, i'm not an american or something like this. i've got a problem. my phone is Samsung Galaxy S4 as you already know. i want to flash a port Note 5 v2.5 by Albe95 but i don't want to do that incorrectly. on my phone i've got installed S6 port v3.0 by Albe95. i've already read a post about flashing that port but the question is can i just flash that port without any problems? i flashed a twrp and i've got a root if it would be necessary and the next step is flashing the latest modem and bootloader for Lollipop on Galaxy S4. actually my modem on S6 port is i9505XXUHOB8 (kernel - Imperium Kernel v2.1). will it be everything okey with my phone if i'll just flash the latest modem and bootloader on this S6 port with different modem etc. and next flash a port Note 5? thank you all from the advance. you all do a great job at this forum!
There is no reason to flash a different modem and bootloader if the instructions don't explicitly say so.
the instruction says "Update your Modem & Bootloader to the Latest Lollipop Ones by following this Guide". if i won't do that my network probably won't be working.

Hi,
i tried to install the [ROM] PopWiz Edge Plus 5.1.1 for the Galaxy S5 SM-G900X Snapdragon [Xposed] [Stable] on my Samsung G900F,
everything was good, but i had no network connection. IEMI was correct and the phone tried to connect.
I flashed the rom with TWRP twice. One time with a normal wipe, the second time with formating the internal storage (so it was a extremely clean install). I restored the EFS folder from an old (working) backup und the modem, without success.
After that i restored my old rom from a nandroid backup. IMEI is still the same but i do have network connection.
Does anybody had the same problem?
I am from Italy, i dont know if this count or not.
Do you have Bootloader and modem from the latest lollipop Rom? If not, download from Sammobile and install it with Odin. Then install an advanced recovery, I recommend you PhilzTouch and then root.
Finally flash Popwiz Rom, in aroma select your model and the lite version. Enjoy your new S6 Edge+ ?
Hope I help you,
Regards

Bootloader and modem are from latest lollipop.
now its working, i reinstalled the rom again with a FULL WIPE first and after that i installed the CSC MODS, like i did before, but this time it worked, dont know why, but for now its ok for me,
thanks for the help.
I own an International Samsung S5 (Exynos Variant) So i was wondering if i could install the S5 Neo firmware on my phone as it is on Lollipop 5.1.1 and is far better performing than my sluggish lollipop 5.0
I am not a newbie to this just don't know what will happen if i flash different firmware. I am currently rooted and running a custom rom.

Greetings,
I've moved your question to your device's Q&A forum so you can get your question answered by the experts.
Most likely though, no, you shouldn't flash anything on your device that isn't specifically made for your device.
Good luck!
Thanks for replying! Its just that if somebody can tell me what are the main components of a rom like kernel, libraries, etc so that i can create a new rom or maybe just port some features of S6 but i need the help with framework.
Most definitely DO NOT flash firmware from another phone variant other than those designed for you model. You will encounter problems or brick your phone.
Info:
Model: G900W8
Android Version: Stock 6.0.1 rooted manually with Philz Touch.
Hello people of XDA, I am currently facing a problem with flashing ROMs for my G900W8 that are S6/N5 ports. Whenever I flash either of these ROMS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/development/rom-5-1-1-tw-revolution-s5-s6e-note-5-t3235824
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/development/rom-popwiz-telstra-note-5-port-v3-0-t3265997
it boots up alright but the wifi says it's turning on and never does, and the capacitive buttons don't work. I use the option "Wipe clean to install new rom" before flashing either of these of course.

Hi sanskimost
As recommended by the devs, did you previously updated the Bootloader and Modem to Marshmallow too?
Sorry asking but you didn't stated all the steps you took to flash and that will always bring doubts while supporting issues like yours.
Please be as more detailed as you can ... ok ?
Nice regards and good luck.
.
I'm on marshmallow right now (as I stated above) so I do have the bootloader and modem as marshmallow
These seem to be lollipop based roms. You may need to flash Lollipop modem.

Dear sanskimost
You didn't stated if you had flashed Modem/BL according to devs instructions. The misbehavior you pointed is characteristic from a discordance between firmware and modem. That's why I've asked.
I've used for long time Revolution v5.3 (Lollipop). I've never flashed the MM version as it has several bugs (openly mentioned all over the thread). Even, v6 had his download link removed a day before release.
The only release available of Popwiz is Lollipop.
So, if you have Modem+BL Marshmallow, as you stated, that is the problem.
I'm now running [N5 Port][6.0.1]Thunderbolt N5 Port and a fellow user with SM-G900W8 as you, flashed it too + Stock Kernel (as per my instructions) and reported a flawless experience.
You should try.
Nice regards and good luck.

If I flash Lollipop modem and bl, do I have to delete all my data? And also if I flash revolution, do I flash hispasian kernel before or after first boot?
First time poster here.. Help me out yeah?
I wanna stick to the stock look on a S5 so I've ended up with Omega ROM
So my choice for a custom ROM has been narrowed down to the Omega ROM v20 based on Android 6.0.1. The installation instructions on the omegadroid website were pretty much straight forward.
But my question is do I need to flash the bootloader and modem files that are mentioned in the instructions? Or should I install them for good measure and continue with the setup?
If you can link me to a good post regarding this issue that'd be great too..
Thanks in advance,
User.:good:
If you do have the marshmallow boot loader and modem
then you are ready to flash if not flash the files provided BUT take a nandroid backup.
Happy flashing
Hi, I have a N900W8 (Canada) and I am in Lollipop. I am looking for the Marshmallow bootloader & modem for N900W8.
Also, im looking to root my phone other than the cf auto root method. Because after flashing the cf-autoroot for n900w8, my buttons stopped working.
Thank you.
There is no marshmallow bootloader or modem.
You can flash SuperSU from twrp.
What bootloader/modem can I use for a marshmallow rom?
Just use the latest LP bootloader and modem.

I thought it should be a marshmallow bl/cp for a marshmallow rom. Didnt know i can use a lollipop.
And for the supersu, i just need to flash twrp then flash supersu from chainfire website?
Thank you.
There is no MM bootloader and modem because Samsung never released a MM build for the Note 3.
Yes, just flash twrp and Chainfire's supersu.
@audit13 do you know how to get the modem and bootloader from a stock firmware (tar.md5) ?
Not sure if you can extract it from a stock rom but it may be easier to just flash the entire rom in Odin.

Okay, I'll do that. Also, do you know what custom kernel is compatible with stock rom N900W8VLU2DPG1 ?
AFAIK, there is no custom kernel that is compatible with the stock Samsung ROM because the Samsung Note 3 apps require a Samsung kernel.
Hi.
Hi, sorry to make it alive. I have a Canadian Samsung Note 3 with (bell mobility) carrier. And, I'm searching to root my phone for removing bloatware and pushing the power out. But and completely newb, and no idea where to start. I have try towelroot and Kings with no success.

There is a custom kernel for stock note3 lolipop firmware which is called lean kernel, idel kernel, ater97 kernel and shinto kernel.... Do ur research before saying thinks u don't knw about ok bro.
@jgun007, I said "AFAIK", I never said there wasn't a kernel for the Canadian note 3 sm-n900w8 which is the model referred to in the subject line of this thread and discussed in this thread.
I see that lean kernel is for the n900t (T-mobile note 3) which is not the same model as the Canadian note 3: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2488233
I see idel kernel here but I don't see the Canadian note 3 model listed as being compatible: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...nt/kernel-idlekernel-leankernel-fork-t3241582
I see arter kernel here for the n9005 which is not the same model # as the Canadian note 3: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/arter97-kernel-galaxy-note-3-t3028148
I see the thread for the shinto kernel was closed and the last post was in January 2015, about 2 years ago and I didn't see any mention of compatibility with the n900w8: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/help/shinto-kernel-t2895089
Hi.
Anybody know why, I'm searching with my phone information... I found nothing.
Model number sm-n9000w8
Version 5.0
Band n900w8vlu2dpg1
Number version lrx21v.n900w8vlu2dpg1
What do you want to know about your phone? The model # is sm-n900w8. I noticed you had three zeros in your post.
Looks like your phone is running the latest stock ROM according to sammobile.com: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-N900W8/

Yes, is a stock device. Never rooted. And it's a mess for the 0 in over.
I have all my information but when I'm searching for rooting... I found nothing and no procedure for someone who have a cellular like mine. N900W8VLU2DPG1.
What's wrong with using TWRP recovery ??

Probably nothing, I don't know what is twrp.
You can root using cfautoroot and Odin.
