Hi all,
I have OPT with OxygenOS 2.2.1.
I want to update my OS to OxygenOS 3.0.2.
1. How can i backup my all Phone's data (everything) to my GMAIL account (if it possible) ?
2. Does a factory reset is necessary after updating to the new OS ?
Best,
Jonathan

You can backup your contacts and photos to your google account. Therefore enable the sync for that.
But best way to backup your data is to use TitaniumBackup.
Or using Helium, it supports Google Drive as destination.

You only need to connect using PC for the first time, this is to make it compatible with those who don't have root access on their phones.

After i load one of the ROM and restore my backup, the hotmail & yahoo mailbox could not work. So I create a new account for both and now i have duplicate mailbox on the TF3d .. any idea how to resolve this problem ?
any one ??
Which rom did you flash? I've heard that a back up from one rom and restored on the next can create issues. Were your yahoo and hotmail accounts visible in the messaging app (programs->messaging) after the restore and before you re-created the new accounts?

Yes, it would help to know not only what rom you are using, but also what application you used to backup and restore your information. Do tell...

When switching roms you always want to restore with merge level 1. I am 90% sure if you do a hard reset and restore with that merge level you will not have this issue.
So I just used geekfor.me prekitchen program for its auto-rooter ability and rooted my phone to recovery img 1.2.3... worked successfully and then did a nandroid backup...
But what now?
1. Should I upgrade to recovery img1.5.2 file? Does it matter and why?
2. Where is the nandroid backup saved? Is it on the phone and where on the phone?
3. Do I lose my contacts if I install a rom such as Fresh 1.1?
TIA
You should not loose your contacts...and I would Update to img1.5.2 ... because is newer?
and the nandroid should be on your SDCARD if I am not mistaken
All of what is said above is true, and updating to fresh1.1 shouldnt erase ANYTHING ON THE PHONE. it will only update the Operating System Files
How do I back up my contacts from now on... I had to completely input them manually which was a pain in the ass.
Also... so since I installed fresh1.1... what cool things can I continue to do to the phone?
As for backing up your contacts, if you synced with a gmail account, and if you saved your contacts type as Google, they automatically get backed up to your gmail account, if I understand the system correctly.

Correct, but it is a hell of a lot easier to enter all the contact info at Gmail page rather than on the phone. At least you have a nice big screen and keyboard then. Then those contacts get pushed to the phone.
I have rooted my Droid X and installed Titanium Backup. I want to do a backup but am concerned with including the contact and calendar data. Since I am on an Exchange account and Gmail, I don't need to back up the actual data files. What are the names of the data files for contacts and calendar? There are several "Contacts...." and "Calendar..." files. One says storage, another data, which one do I exclude?

i have found if i restore ANY data i have the syncing symbol on my notifications bar all the time, i do the batch Restore all missing apps and click app only from now on
If you have them syncd to your Gmail account, they are ALWAYS backed up. Menu, Settings, Accounts & Sync, check the "Contacts" check box and all of your contacts sync to Gmail.
I do understand that the are essentially backed up via sync with Gmail and/or corp exchange. That is why I don't want to backup that data with Titanium Backup. When I open Titanium Backup, I do the following.
Select Backup/Restore tab
Select Menu>Batch
Select Run Backup all system data
When I scroll down, I see the following Contacts files
Contacts 2.2.1
Contacts Storage 2.2.1
Contacts Sync 2.2.1
Contacts Sync Adapter 2.2.1
ContactsData 2.2.1
ContactsUnconnected 2.2.1
Which of those files should I deselect so if I need to do a restore I don't receive duplicate contacts?

This has been fixed in the newer versions. (At least in my experience) the last restore I did with TiB I restored EVERYTHING and do not have the sync symbol stuck there anymore. This used to happen to me also but not as of late with the newer updates of Ti.

I have gotten a replacement DroidX and this has happened to others as well. While other I had did not have this phenomenon. But after I reestablished root and installed Titanium Backup, i notice "ContactsUnconnected 2.2.1" is frozen. I unfreeze it, reboot, and it is frozen again. And I never froze it to begin with. And my previous DroidX did not have it frozen do I have yet another possessed DX? With a mind of it's own? Wanting to be a real Android (boy)?" (bad Pinochio" reference). What exactly DOES "ContactsUnconnected" do? Is it still an unknown variable as it has been since day one?
Many thanks in advance. (Please ignore my phone info on my profile if it still says WinMo. As I have not had a chance to update my info yet)

Did you backup all user apps + system data using Titanium Backup?
If so, clean install EB13, re-root, download TB from Market and restore missing apps and system data. There you go.
If you did not, then you're SOL :/
I'm pretty sure you're intelligent enough to backup, however.
I always did full backup, will the latest one click root work on the update to Froyo..because I had the one-click before
Your contacts should have returned when you synced up with your Google account.
You DID sync your contacts to your Google account... didn't you???

You actually can back-up your contacts from the Contact app on your phone. It puts them right on your SD card in a .vcf file too
Whosdaman: Yeah, that's the best option and I've been using that on my phone too.
problem solved,I already thanked those who helped....Much appreciated!
I should have waited for the OTA update!
After updating my N4 with 4.4 factory image, it has been restored to the factory recovery and lost root. How can I unlock the bootloader again without losing data? If this can't be done, how to back up all the data (Apps, music, photos, etc.) and restore them? Thanks!
You can flash OTA updates using stock recovery, you don't have to unlock bootloader or root to do it.
There is no way to unlock bootloader without losing data if you haven't been rooted. If you have root, use BootUnlocker: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.segv11.bootunlocker
If you want to back up without root, either go to "Settings -> Backup & restore" and enable back up and sync your device. Or use Helium app and install the PC companion program: http://www.clockworkmod.com/carbon

Thanks a lot for the kind help! I really appreciate it...
Under Settings, I do have "Back up my data" checked. Now, I want to make sure all the data (apps, passwords, settings, music, photos, etc.) are truly saved before unlocking the bootloader. Where can I find them saved on Google server?
Also, how about the specific settings for those Apps and SMS messages? How to back them up? Titanium?

It only backup your apps data and restore it when you reinstall the app. It won't back up other things, music and photos youhave to copy from your device to your computer. There are other Google sync services that backup your contact, photos, etc. You have to check (its in your Google account menu in the phone) to see what Google is syncing for you.
Maybe you can use Google Drive to backup stuff from your phone. I do not use cloud services so I can't help you.

I just installed Helium on my N4 and my Mac. Does it allow backup to my Mac computer? Even though the Helium on my Mac says that "Carbon has been enabled on your Android", when I go to Helium on my N4 and start to back up, I don't see my Mac on the backup device list. Am I missing something? I guess I can just back up in the internal storage of the phone? The Helium download website does not seem to have any information about the usage.
You can backup to your internal storage, they will be stored in the 'carbon' folder, copy it over to your desktop afterward.
