Flash a better modem for your phone. Might do the work.

Maybe perform a factory reset? Reflash a stock ROM?

Are you running 4.2.2 with a non .48 radio? AKA did you enable LTE on 4.2.2?
i don't know and i don't think so, i was on PA 4.2.2 when i tried 0.47, 0.33, 0.27(?), i tried almost all modems, then i tried stock 4.2.1 (i bought my nexus 4 with 4.2.2), then i tried CM RC1 but never worked. I hope i can make it work without changing it. Thanks for the reply.

If you did all that then I guess it is a hardware issue.
First for the sake of trying give it a good shake ,cause the earpiece might have slipped for less than a mm.
If that doesn't help then you will have to either RMA or open the device and perform an earpiece exchange.

Before you go swapping hardware I suggest you flash the full 4.2.2 stock image from Google. Bootloader, radio, everything. Then, check if the problem persists.

I bought the phone with Google's pure 4.2.2, tried also original 4.2.1. Same question as before? Is it possible that the problem will persist?
Its highly unlikely it's a hardware problem if you have audio with internet calling. As I said before, flash the full stock image including an wipe with fastboot.

RMA if you can before trying to change any hardware yourself, but this does sound like an earpiece problem
I'll try 4.2.2 stock. I'll keep you updated.
I had the same problem but it was fixed after I flashed the latest radio.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147194
Nothing worked (flashing/factory reset/downgrading) so I returned back the phone. The new one has no problem.
I had the same problem.. everything working fine in all apps except for normal calls. Even after resetting to stock Google image. After some digging I found the application Soundabout. It has an option to disable the check if a headphones has been inserted or not. After ticking the checkbox to disable the headphone check I could call again with the earpiece.
Funny thing tough, after reflasing my phone with CM 10.1 it still worked. Even on the stock Google image after re-enabling the headphones check I was able to make calls again with the earpiece. Really really strange problem.
You can find the app here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.woodslink.android.wiredheadphoneroutingfix&hl=nl
Altough you already replaced your phone it might be usefull for other people with the same problem.

Try factory data reset can help you..
Backup Your data First.
Sent from my C6902 using xda app-developers app
Appreciate the effort to help but I did a factory reset as soon as I bought the phone. Stupid salesmen in the store insist on teaching me how to use a smartphone. I remeber even before the factory reset the emergency call thingie was still present on the lockscreen.
Sent from my SM-G900H
Factory reset won't change this. It's normal behavior. Also why would you want to change this. It's there so you can call an emergency contact. You can add your own contacts to the list by adding the contract to the ICE (Incase Of Emergency) group in contacts.
That way if something happens to you. Someone can call an emergency service or your ICE contact without unlocking your phone.
Sent from my SM-G900F using xda app-developers app
Thanks mate. So this is part of the ICE?
Damn I should've thought so
Sent from my SM-G900H
Change the unlock method to other than fingerprint.

Low Frequency Beep During Calls

Is anyone else having any issues with the speaker when they are making calls on there S5? Whenever I'm talking with someone on the phone every 4 or 5 seconds I hear a low frequency beep the lasts about 1.5-2 seconds and then it goes away... After another 4 or 5 seconds it does it again. I really hope it's a software issue as I don't want to send my new phone in for a repair already.

I will have to try contacting Samsung about the problem. I will let you know what they say. I doubt target would do a straight exchange on the device.

Try disabling CARRIER IQ or removing it if you are rooted and then check for the beep afterwards see if it's gone and let us know what your results.

Well if you are not rooted go into settings then backup and reset and then collect diagnostics and uncheck it and this theoretically turns it off, now if you are rooted you can install root explorer open it up make sure that you are mounted as rw then search the root directory for carrier iq and delete it this removes it from the device.

The first thing I did was disable carrier iq when I got my s5 and after seeing this post I made a call to check for the noise and I dont hear it so maybe the carrier iq thing is the ticket.

Sorry.. but what exactly do you mean by "disable carrier iq"? Cause I'm a real newbie when it comes to doing administrative stuff to your phone...
I also thought that it maybe could be worth Factory reseting your phone? But I've got a lot of settings and stuff that I don't want to do again.. but if it's really needed I'll do it.

I tried that. But I'm afraid it did not work.. The annoying sound is still active. But the weird thing is that sometimes and on some calls it's occures very often and being annoying as hell.. and then again it can be off for like another call that lasts 30min+.. I hope that it's the phones own speaker that's broken or something..
Haha I hope you're wrong.. I really hope it's related to carrier iq

Yeah. I tried all of them regular settings. Minutebeep, noise reduction etc.. The sound kept going. But I also noticed that when I connected my headphones and talked trough them that there was no annoying sound.. so I guess it's something with the phones own speaker.
But I put the phone on service today after 11 days of usage... lol. Hope they'll fix it!
I don't hear the issue when I'm using bluetooth in my car either. That being said I'm pretty sure it's a issue with the speaker in the phone. Time to swap it out for another device!

So Undergrad.. are you really swapping it in for another phone? They actually gave me that option.. but I kind of said no.. I just wanted my phone to work 100%.. maybe it was a stupid choice..

Target is ordering me a new device and hopefully it resolves the issue. It certainly appears that the issue is with the speaker.

Bluetooth not working, probably after rooting

Somebody has happened something similar to me, BT stopped working after rooting?
I did factory reset. I haven't tried Odin back to stock yet.

Mine is working also without issue. It doesnt have anything to do with root.
Go into app manager and find the 2 bluetooth apps and clear the data and restart your phone. See if that helps

If you are attempting to use bluetooth headphones and the above method does not work, when you turn on the headphones continue to hold the power button after they turn on, and in a few seconds it will wipe the paired devices and allow you to pair again. (Happened with my headphones and took forever to figure that out.) I'm sure a similar method would work for other non-headphone devices.
I never hated a phone that much as this one. Having it is a nightmare, first no root then Bluetooth issue and now warning: camera failed. I'm gonna return this crap, once I get the replacement one I'll sell it asap.
Sent from my C811 4G using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
did you disable or delete anything after rooting? rooting doesn't alter things like this, users with root access do.
my Bluetooth works flawlessly after rooting.
I rooted and disabled many apps. Still have Bluetooth that I use to make calls with my radio. And I sent my buddy the Pandora with unlimited skips yesterday with Bluetooth. It's probably a user error.

S4 no sound

okay so im going to start from scratch, my s4 has randomly started giving me no sound, ive had it tested and all my components are good so it has to be software.
i have flashed multiple roms, modems and wifi fix
but im willing to give anything a go just let me know!
beginning to really stress me out! i have included a pic of my current setup, cheers and thanks for the help!
does no one have a clue on this?
i was thinking maybe wait for the lollipop update and it may sort itself out?
or flash another stock rom and gsm modem only?
i have already triggered knox so not really worried about the method, anything would be of great help!

Im not sure what's goin on . It might be a Hardware issue? Try pulling the battery out / factory reset/ wipe data in recovery . If its still.doing the same issue . Wait And Let see what firmware @Joku1981 will give you . It might fix this problem . Anyways Goodnite for now .

Whether it helps or not apart from no sound, videos play in slow motion, battery when unplugged from fully charge drops to around 80% and sometimes when the phone is booted it boots with no signal and a black top bar, before restarting again normally
