How do I view manual recordings? - Shield Android TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have some manual recordings I've done but cannot play them in either MX player or kodi? Is it possible to play them? Also where are they saved to on the hdd? Any help greatly appreciated.

Storage/emulated/0/Movies/Game Recording
And if you have an external had on it at :
MYHHD/Android/media/com.nvidia.nvgamecast
If record don't work at all verify in settings/Storage reset that you have no Network Storage connected from your computer ! That fixed the issue for me

moboplayer

has anyone had any luck with moboplayer? it dioesnt find the codec on the play store, and i cannot access the .mobo folder in the sdcard to manually install the codec.
edit - moved the files appropriately through the computer, still not working. getting the same "download the codec" screen.
I didnt go through that much trouble but it wont work for me either. It was my favorite player!!!! MX player works well, but the on screen buttons dont disappear.. just darken so what feels like a lot of the 7 inch screen is taken up

You and I have done the same things... no love over here, either. Guess I'll have to look for a replacement.

Think its broken for Jelly Bean currently, no luck on my Gnex either.
what about rockplayer? does that work?
Threads about apps go in the Themes & Apps section
I've always stuck with Dice Player, plays every video file perfectly and its also working on JB.
No luck here either. I tried BSPlayer and it's not bad. MX Video Player is ok but had trouble with an AVI. Dice Player has replaced them all for me now.

Did anyone try bsplayer? Works great on my GNex especially streaming over Samba.
Has anyone tried VLC?
Use search. There is already a thread about this.

[Q] Best way to stream videos from PC

What apps or methods work best to stream HD content to the nexus?
Also is there a way to download/copy files from pc to tablet over wifi. So I want to be able to view the videos on my pc from my tablet then press on it and it will transfer to my tablet.
I'm not having any problems with plex.

Copy Files - ES File Explorer. (it has LAN Connectivity)
Play Movies - I use DLNA program, "Bubble UpnP" it rocks.
I'm using a combo of ES File Explorer and VLC to stream the movies over Wifi. Works fine without having to transcode like Plex.

I have been using the heck out of BS Player, It has "LAN Mode" where you can set your library to a Network Share (Mine is my NAS Server) and then you can browse and play from that folder to the device. I been playing 10 Gig MKV straight up on my SGS3 all day. Hope that it works as well with the N10, still waiting for mine to get here.. well both of the 32G ones that they coincidentally over charged me..
Try upnPlay, works for me.

I've been using Diceplayer on my TF Infinity but it doesn't support HW decoding on the Nexus 10 yet, neither does BS Player or anything except VLC.

This player constantly keeps crashing here when trying to build thumbnails from my files. And it does not save my LAN servers so I have to enter them again. Any way to fix this, or at least prevent thumbnail creation?

Yes, you can disable thumbnails and default it to list view. Also, if you hit back button it should cancel the thumbnail building. When you go into options you should be able to save the LAN connection as your default library. I have done all these things. I have to point out, this is all on my SGS3... haven't tried it on a nexus 10 or with 4.2 because Google didn't send me my nexus yet...

+1, works well. Get a nightly build of VLC and enable hardware decoding in options

[Q] Best solution to play media stored on Windows?

I read and read and still not sure what the best approach is for streaming media (mp3, flac, mkv) to the N7 on the LAN from a Win7 PC. Any server software you could recommend that could potentially do transcoding on the fly if needed, with caching so that it happens only the first time a file is played and then maybe even be able to copy the transcoded/cached file to the internal N7 storage for offline playback?
And is MX Player the player to use on N7?
Thanks for your help recommending an end to end solution.

Have you tried iMediaShare? MX Player is probably the best player out there right now.
From the description of the app, I'm not sure how iMediaShare helps me. I'm looking to stream media files stored on a Win7 PC to my N7.
BSplayer has lan function and will stream any videos from any windows shares.ESfile explorer will let you veiw, stream or edit any files on your window shares. You don't need anything on your computer as long as it is setup for sharing on home network. Both of these work great and have been updated for 4.2.
^^this. I use es file explorer as a back end to access my media on the PC. Doing it this way allows you to use pretty much any media player software for the nexus that you prefer.
My current favourite is dice player.

Using ES File Explorer I can only get my shares to appear if I turn off my firewall (zonealarm). Can anyone confirm what I need to change to allow my phone to connect with zonealarm on?
Thanks
bubble up you can change where the files are rendered . it will also push thru the network from the share thru tablet and play on tv . can play file formats on the tv its not compatible with
Thanks for the ES File Explorer + MX Player tip. It seems to work well enough.
Next hurdle: any apps on the N7 that could help me organize the media better, e.g. show thumbnails for the movies, links to additional info, etc. the solution above is very spartan, just file names. I read about XBMC running on the N7, or Plex, or tversity - any of these worth the hassle?
I use xmbc media player ..its just perfect and no one is even close..its same as pc version and you cam find it here on xda for free

I recommend qloud media. It's free on the store and you can stream music pics and films from your computer. It works over 3g, local and remote wireless. Amazing I can watch my stuff at work during lunch and what not.
Highly recommended!

Wow, you're right crappy description of the app. The app does exactly what you want that's why recommended it. It's streams music and movies, using upnp servers on the computer side, like Windows Media Player and PS3 Media Server.
Next problem: any way to mount and play ISO files over the network? They are DVD rips and would like to avoid converting them. Any apps that act as a DVD player on the N7, able to mount the DVD ISO over the network?
Bs player can help you

Are you saying BS Player can mount ISOs made from DVDs and act as a DVD player? If so, any pointers where to look? I tried it and it didn't seem to be able to do anything with ISO files.

Best media player for nexus 4?

I got my girlfriend a nexus 4 earlier this week. We setup airsync by double twist, but when i try to play back back of the files, the audio is out of sync with the video. I need a software to play offline
I've tries bsplayer, double twist and stock video player, they all have the same issue.
The file I'm trying to play is an mkv file, with dts audio.

MXplayer. Screw VLC. I never understood why people like VLC, even if they are on Windows. (CCCP for the win!)
Can I access my media stored on Windows shares using MX Player or not?
player pro...for music and videos.
but mxplayer is better for videos. so use mxplayer for videos and player pro for music
Thanks everyone,
I realized with MXPlayer that the DoubleTwist program I was using to transfer the file to the device had transcoded it into an MP4. That should explain why the sound was off. I'm going to see if I can transfer it through the same program without transcoding, and see how that works.
Try vplayer. It has an adjustable buffer.

[Q] Plex or any streaming video app not working with LG G2?

Has anyone has any luck streaming video from your local media servers (PC) using the plex app or any other media streaming app. The apps load up fine but once you select your media to view its just a black screen until you close them. Worked fine on my GS3 and my IPAD. I tend to think its something to do with the app developers not prepared for the 800 processor?

Same issue here. Sorry.
I was able to get media to play by syncing it to be offline, both with this and with Subsonic. But streaming just doesn't work.
Plex works fine for me, remotely or locally up to and including at 1080p. I have the newest PlexPass versions on server and phone.

I can stream on wifi only with plex. Haven't tried anything else.
I am experiencing the same problem and cannot stream video from plex over wifi or mobile data.
Audio works on both, however.

Same problem here. Black screen and no sound. Have had the same issue on a note 2 previously.

Same thing. Black screen, no video or audio (I don't think). Any solutions?
Plex is aware of the issue.
Download MX player, go to settings in plex, choose "device media profile" then select "media profile" and choose "external player". Next time you play, choose MX. It should work. Plex offers this as a temporary issue until they solve the problem.

I've had nothing but problems streaming video with my LG G2 using DSub/Subsonic (utilizing MX Player Pro). Audio works pretty well but the video does not work AT ALL. I've reported this to the MX Player Google group (useless, developer does not respond) as well as the Subsonic forums. So far, no help or advanced troubleshooting has been provided. I guess I'll just hope that someday my brand new LG G2 works as flawlessly streaming video as my iPhone 4 did. :crying:
Excuse the formatting of the links below. Apparently this forum does not allow n00bs to post to external sites.

VLC works fine.
