Well, I'm pretty much an audiophile, and I love the naked sound with nothing enabled the best.
But that's just my 2 cents lol

Can these be installed without rooting?
I mean, if it takes rooting, I wouldn't mind doing so, I just can't find simple instructions on how to do so, and I'm a bit terrified of doing something wrong.

Every modification to the software requires root.
U can follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3354307 I found it just a small scroll downwards in this forum.
Read yourself up a bit about rooting in general, and unlocking bootloader for Z5 specific.
Because if u don't know what it doing, u might break some stuff.
All info is right here in front of u on XDA lol
Just use search function of XDA

It's a great headphone.
I use the equalizer to lower bass a little and to lower high treebles because my ears are too much sentitive to frequencies beyond 8000 Hz

On CM13 and Resurrection Remix I use XTREMEMUSIC (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/mod-beatsaudio-e-xloud-installer-t3029951),
for Stock ROM and its MODs (e.g. Xperia X ROM) I use BioHazard (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/sound-mod-biohazard-android-infected-t3373888),
Project DiVA is working great (DiVA-X V4(vier)) and all but alone it's too flat for my taste (not really much Bass - even with Viper4Android)
and in combination with Dolby Atmos (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/mod-dolby-atmos-t3109446) it appears to be too much of a battery drainer (sound is however the best I ever heard  )
edit:
actually with certain MP3 files and videos (bass heavy), Project DiVA shows, that the sound is pretty balanced
Haven't had a chance to test AcoustiX yet (thanks to @korom42 for that)

THIS IS MY FIRST MOD FOR HAVE YOU LIKE MY WORK...:fingers-crossed:
I'm sure of 7,000,000,000 people on this planet, all of them listen to music in one way or another!
We have our small smartphone to listen to our favorite songs, but the quality of the songs don't always reflect our expectations...
That's why I developed this new Audio Engine nicknamed Pure™. Pure because with this mod you will be putting all the values and the libraries in the system with the settings that normally uses a DJ, so listen to all the music that musicians design (that you can not feel 100% because the average quality of the audio is mainly low)
This mod is the set of the most famous equalizers (Beats, xLoud, Sony Audio) modified to perfection to get the maximum quality from any type of condition! We performed the test with the stock headphones coming out in conjunction with the phone, and with in-hear headphones Sony MDR-EX10... With both we achieved a sensitivity of low noise, low closed, and crystal clear sound... end with presentations, I leave to the features
◢ Features ◣
- Clear sound
- No more track noise
- Beats™ Audio by Dr.Dre
- Audio Pure™ Control not to damage your hearing
- Also compatible with the headphones that don't support audio render of 60kHz
- Where possible, arrange for the conversion of the songs (in background) below 256 kbps to 320kbps
- During playback of songs / sounds make a soft frequency scaling to reduce noise and highlight the track
- It offers more powerful and closed bass
- Efficient even with stock headphones
- Improves a lot the audio call
- Enhance the speakers for playing music without headphones in high quality
I can not tell you everything What are you waiting for? Try it and find out what's missing features!!
◢ Tips ◣
For a better perception of sound using headphones;
Want to port this Audio Engine to another device?
No problem, however, you should enter the credits, located under!

Im using ICE ics rom, sound is actualy better, than stock rom, i was amazed bout beats.
BUT if you are using miui 3.2.22 ICS rom, u shouldnt add this, quality is same, and aditional "updates" just reduces sound quality.

I think that DSEE-HX is software only, but it is possible that Sony also did something with HW to reproduce clearer sound. And is weird that when it has Hi-Res sticker, it won't play DSD Audio, but only FLAC, WAV etc.
Many devices may already have DSEE from ZX1 already. Are they the same or this one do even better?
anyway, High resolution audio is it just the 24bit/ 192kHz resolution?
Coz in DreamingOnMusic mod, i got 32bit/ 491.5MHz for my Z1 !!

Is that picture showing the music player playing ultrasound frequencies we can't even hear up to 40kHz?
@jimRnor :silly:
Actually the 491.5 MHz frequencies are not for our ears(and of course we can't hear above 40kHz),it is for headphones and hifies which has the good spec like sony, pioneer, etc.the over frequencies will gives out the more clearer background instrumental sounds and more bass on those things has a big driver(of course IEM will note the background instrumental clear as it doesn't has the big driver to let the bass appear more then the hifies)
And this frequency cause a electronic noise at background while the songs are silent………==lll

I dirty flashed this mod over FURTURE TWO
Project Desire App is not yet included in these new Sound Mods but will soon come with next Updates again.
Great Work Tristan Bro! This Sound Mod is your best yet for Z3, i like the new Sound. Its clear, good bass and very good Volume for Speakers and Headphones. The Balance is optimized very good and its not too much or too less its just great this Time.
Very interesting...
Good idea to make independent mods for each z sony, very good mod

So flashed and the sound is amazing. Is this the best mod for heavy bass? Also notice that when I max volume the top 3 or so clicks Dont change volume

Gotta say it's amazing the clarity of frequencies and no sound bleed you get sometiems with bass drowning out highs. Awesome work can't wait till you add app to tweak it
Thank You Bro ♥
OK so observations on your mod tested out in Jeep and on my 7.2 thx the highs and mids are amazing but the bass need a super bass option dosent have the punch your old mod had. If you can increase the bass it woukd be perfect.

What does this mod do:
The big sister of the Legendary Project Desire and Yume Soundmod, which try to make all better than Project Desire and Project Yume.
This mod is based on Project Desire and fits to PDesire's ears, and maybe to other's too. It's impossible to say to make it fit for all ears
But Project Meli is a extremely fine tuned SoundMod which combines the best audio from other phones in one phone, calibrated with knowledge and made for the users

So running latest. Sound quality is really nice with my current selections. I left everything enabled and just changed the Am3D settings.

Describe sounds as distinct and clear. Volume isn't quite as loud as atmos with music profile plus volume level and sound enhancement toggled on.
ofcourse could be my ignorance.
I love sound mods now I don't see much reason to test til I see speaker increase and bluetooth as well ... As of now using viper audio. I Will watch this thread keep up the good work
Is it compatible with Viper4Android?
I'm going say no...
I did finally try mod.
It does speakers Bluetooth and headphone jack.
As fare as with viper audio is why I say no is I had on devices then flashed then opened viper drivers r gone so if u install it may override this one try and report back it if allows both would be great !
