Xposed question - P8lite Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys, first of all I want to say that my knowledge on these things is low.
Okay, so I want to install xposed on my P8 lite. Is there a way to just flash a zip or I have to deodex and all that stuff? I'm asking because I have no access to a PC right now.
More phone info: ALE-21, Android 5.0.1, B188.
P.S: I have bootloader unlocked, I'm rooted and have twrp

Download and flash it by TWRP it's only things you need to do, so PC usage is not included.
Everything is right here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3180960

So I don't need to deodex and stuff? Just flash framework and then apk? Also thanks

oh , just saw the post, I'm confused. So, it says its for samsung(ya might also work for us) but which one should I flash?

1. Install apk.
2. Go to twrp.
3. Flash xposed framework.
85.1 v. Because it supports emui, arm64 because that's an architecure of kirin620 and sdk22 because of your android version. I said it's everything there
Edit: Sorry I didn't read your android version right. It will be better if you first upgrade to android 6.0 and then flash sdk23.

SHOULD I upgrade to 6.0? Well I have twrp and I can't. Also in the post you sent I only see its compatible with 5.1 which my is 5.0.1...

Thats right, youre on 5.0.1 like all us EMUI 3.1 users instead of android 6.0 or 5.1 which are the supported versions for Wanams xposed. So if you want to use xposed, i HIGHLY recommend upgrading to marshmallow since if you want to do it on lollipop you will have to disable emui theming engine which might break some stuff and some modules still wont work.

I understand that, but how am I going to upgrade if I don't have access to a PC and I have twrp installed? The only solution is to have stock recovery

It'd really cool if someone could give it to me. (B188)

Well yes, if you dont have access to a PC (most convenient way) the other solution is to flash the stock recovery .img using flashify or something like that then downloading your corresponding update to marshmallow and flashing it using the stock recovery. Personally I would wait to have access to a PC

I really really wouldnt suggest doing this without a PC. Something could go wrong and you wouldnt be able to fix your phone and end up with a brick until you get a PC. I could get you the stock recovery, which exact version are you on?

Is root attainable on the D800's official lollipop update?

So, I'm currently running cloudyg2 2.2, and I'm thinking about downgrading back to stock and then taking the OTA to lollipop, but I haven't heard anyone mention if it is possible to retain root through the update process, or to obtain root afterwards. It'd be great if there was a flashable zip, but I don't know if that's possible at the moment.
You can get root again. Its a script in the development forum.
If you do this can you make a twrp backup of the stock lollipop rom and upload it? (since you'll essentially be pure stock anyway).
I'll buy you a beer
I see a link for a tool you use while connected to a computer, but does stump root still work?

No, all on-device roots are patched with Lollipop (unless you have a custom recovery, which is unobtainable on stock lollipop for the d800 as far as I know)
Use the one that requires PC. If you run into issues, pm me or reply to me on this thread.

I'd assume you could just use a kdz to go back.
So.. no recovery as of yet on official Lollipop am I right?
Keeping that in mind, is it worth the update? Is it smoother/better?
I know this can be asked in any of the other threads, but I'm asking here with respect to its worth when compared to losing Custom Recovery.

If you were making your flashable prerooted .zip, you should use xposed-sdk21-arm-20150430.zip from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
Or, if you can, write how did you make your .zip or how did you upgrade to 5.0 Lollipop.

As you already said. Fist of all you need root permission on your device. But because you already installed 5.1.1 via OTA I'm afraid your device is "locked down". If KingRoot isn't able to root 5.1.1, then there is no easy way to get root on your device. In this case you have to downgrade first via Flashtool. Or you could unlock your bootloader and flash a custom kernel which has twrp integrated. But keep in mind that you will loose your drm keys this way.
BTW: I wouldn't use KingRoot even if it is able to root your device, because I don't trust this app....
Thnx mate for your reply
OK I will downgrade my tablet to 5.0.2
But I need you plz to point where I get my previous Android
And if I flashed it with flashtool all my data will be gone?!
Then I will root my tablet again then flashed this stock in this thread, am I right?!

Try this FTF:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/thema/s...ny-xperia-tablet-z.457524/page-3#post-7918151
After that, use XZDR (TabZ-lockeddualrecovery2.8.21-RELEASE.installer.zip) from here:
http://nut.xperia-files.com/
Use Option 3 from Installer, which will use an root-exploit, that is still available in .230 Firmware.
In newer Firmwares this option isn't working anymore and you need to root by your own first.
And finally flash this PreRooted Image via TWRP or CWM

Depends on which Options you use to flash. If you exclude Data-Partition, then Data will be still there. But booting KitKat-Firmware with Lollipop-Data will not work or at least will screw up everything. So in the end you would need to wipe data anyway. (Be aware that flashing FTF including Data-Partition will also wipe internal storage / internal sdcard)

Well, there are mainly two things:
1. It needs a internet connection for rooting (who knows which data is send to them ...)
2. It isn't always providing a full working root, which is not very nice for devolpers and users, because their apps/packages maybe don't work properly...
Thank you Mcbane87
Well,I already downgraded my TabZ SGP321 and flashed kitkat 4.4.4 with build number 10.5.1.A.0.283 via flashtool like you said, even I got many failed steps at the beginning but I did it

1- I am from Egypt so when looked into this firmware I didn't find Arabic language, is that Normal and how I get Arabic language
2- why I feel that kitkat is much better than lollipop and much easier and battery life is much better while I am playing my game with charger connected still battery going low slowly ?
Note: I am using root only to use Xmod for playing Clash Of Clans !
I flashed it, seemed all ok, but:

you must reflash a rooted Firm(like 230) with flashtool.
Starting enable debuging and install nuts recovery 2.870 with option 1.
Then reboot and hold volume down when the green light on and you are only in TRWP mode.
Flash the 5.1 from sd1 and all was good.

In short xposed framework is just an addition to the in-built framework of your ROM. It helps you to customize your ROM for personalization and adding extra features to your device. Try googling xposed framework and keep working on it to get deeper knowledge about its modules and stuff.
But, make sure you know how to recover your device from bootloop and softbrick before installing the xposed framework. :good:

Could be possible, because this is ROM was created from Sony for Germany. Maybe they didn't integrated Arabic language and letters.

Didn't made that much comparison with TabZ, but on my Z1c I can confirm that some things are better with KitKat like bluetooth (only 5.02...didn't testet 5.1.1 till now) and other things like touchscreen response (phantom touching) is better in lollipop. Concerning batterylife I didn't saw any difference.
Well and the design / functions of lollipop are a question of personal liking. I personally hate the new LockScreen and its notification behaviour.
I would be happy finding a xposed module which would bring back old lockscreen on Lollipop, but I'm afraid this isn't that easy....
Well, I am big fan of Sony, I got Sony Xperia Z and I love lollipop in it and btw I have installed stock firmware prerooted as well
But frankly I am preferring kitkat in my tablet it's looks much better and easier
Anyway thank you for your helping bro

Yep, but use TWRP 3.0.0.0 recovery with ODIN instead (Much more powerful too)
Then flash SuperSU 2.71 beta from TWRP

Next step installing TWRP as you recommended, can you point me in the right direct where to download the correct version of TWRP for my S5 as only seem to be finding S4 version or for kitkat?
Also do i need to make sure its rooted before i do this?
Cheers for all your help so far

Rooted it with this CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltexx-smg900f.zip
http://download.chainfire.eu/397/CF-Root1/CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltexx-smg900f.zip?retrieve_file=1
Then installed TWRP from here

Nice job, I get my TWRP from here
https://dl.twrp.me/klte/
.tar version and flash with ODIN
3.0.0.0 seems to be the last stable version atm, not sure if the newer ones are bug free yet
That root you used might cause problems, the 2.71 beta systemless is the one for MM ROMs atm, the others either don't work fully or overheat the phone with constant high CPU usage
If you have problems, flash this one from TWRP

You just need to follow the Install Instructions on respective threads to your Android version.
[RECOVERY][T.W.R.P-3.0.2.0]Samsung Galaxy J5 [Android 5.1.1]
[RECOVERY] [TWRP-3.0.2-0] Samsung Galaxy J5 [MM][Android 6.0.1]
Use this Odin https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=95375
You can follow this video to see how to install TWRP (ONLY)
Follow only the video instructions to install TWRP, do not use any other links or files
PS: most of the custom ROMs uses Lollypop firmware, i suggest to downgrade to Lollypop before install any custom ROM

Don't follow instructions here,i mean, it is easier for you to go on youtube and watch how. That is how i rooted, trype on youtube how to root galaxy j5 2015, and first video that comes in search that is it, just don't forget to enable OEM unlock.

Well you must READ carefully, your problem has solution. Don't forget when flashing twrp to uncheck auto reboot option from Odin, so after twrp flash with Odin you push out battery for 5 sec. and power on with buttons combo into recovery and twrp will ask you if you want to make this changes permanent, just swipe and you're done.?☺?

There's no need to pull battery out, you reboot by press and hold Volume down+Power
Then quickly press Volume Up+Home+power to go to recover

Its everything you should know about our device, pay attention your model j500f. And important you know the TWRP youre using, it differs when youre are with lollipop and marshmallow. I will suppose that youre on Marshmallow right now, so there are ROMs you can flash straight through twrp. If you wish to try Nougat ROMs, better downgrade as American Jesus States above. Remember to READ carefully, as many of your questions has been answered before. I prefer stable roms, less bugs than newer ones. Try first a ROM without downgrading like CM13 port by Zonik, or stock based ones, just to get confident on your skills, after this you can test downgrading, to taste the latest Nougat and others non-nougat roms that relies on Lollipop firmware. Take your time to first learn and know your device specs and you'll be fine. Hope this help you ???

You will use Odin to flash ONLY bootloader, if you flash modem you can loose your WiFi.
As youre in Marshmallow you will pick the Lollipop bootloader. You must pick the TWRP of Lollipop too to avoid incompatibilities with the changed bootloader . You follow the instructions sequencially First flash lollipop bootloader and without leave Odin you flash the Lollipop TWRP. American Jesus show you the thread above. And voil
