So I bought a note 4 off ebay & as the title reads the orientation sensor isnt working ( expect camera app works fine , every other app doesnt recognize rotation )
Yes rotation is enabled .... / I wiped cache made factory reset nothing worked.
I downgraded to kitkat by flashing old factory image with odin & everything works fine atm....
I will try doing the ota myself & see if the problem persists ... ( the sensor must be fine because it works on kitkat & on the camera app )
This is very dissapointing since I wanted to keep marshmallow for its dose feature ... but no landscape mode on a almost 6 inch display is a no go xD ....
If anyone experienced smth similar pls let me know if you foudn a solution.
EDit : I did ota now & now it seems to work on MM ... though after the first OTA there came anotehr OTA 500 mb and now another 300 mb wtf ? When does it stop

i have the same problem with the rotation and the pedometer.... but when i had flash the rom all was working but today stop working fine.
I made factory reset, wipe dalvik and wipe cache an the problem is still here
did you delete facebook using titanium? if yes, that the problem. never delete facebook using titanium.
if not, then you can try to slap the back of your phone. not too hard, but enough to "bump" the sensor back to normal. Check youtube if you need example.

If you are running XXUAMDE version, it might be possible. Try updating to latest firmware.

Flash via Odin the latest firmware (xxuame1).
For me also same PRoblem Have yours been resolved?
this is normal problem and is happening with everyone, even with me. Will wait for an update from samsung to fix this issue..
TRY THIS.
1.Turn Your i9500 Off.
2.Remove your Sd card.
3.Power up your phone.
4.Use the camera ( you will most probably notice it's significantly faster )
5.With the phone ON, insert your sd card into the phone.
I did this and the lag on my camera seems to have disappeared and the phone is suddenly performing like a beast.
I have no idea why this works, but it works for me,[ so far NO REBOOTS ]

I do not think that it is a "normal problem" ... Normally, there should be NO problem... Samsung has been very silent on this defect and I am not sure where can we claim officially.

Hi, I was using rooted n9005 with fahadali s5 custom rom. All working excellent.
Last evening I installed this program http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-galaxy-sensors-temperature-humidity-t2828815 (I am not sure is this problem). Installation was not normal (it said it is installed although was not)
After some time I noticed that auto rotation, temp sensors, proximity, auto brightness- nothing is working...
I reinstalled totally with odin, full wipe- still nothing...
Is phone killed or there is some solution, I do not know what to try else more then normal odin reinstall...

i replied in the app thread, you had a previous version installed right? it was installation or update? and, if i can suggest you, have you tried hw test for sensors? ( *#0*# )

that it locked some system calls (maybe I am wrong). Remember, I was using fahadali s5 rom and plays store sees my phone as s5. Do you have any suggestion to try something about that

in recovery go to monts and storage and format system, data, cache, data and /data media + factory reset and wipe cache+dalvik
then reboot recovery and flash a rom

I have the problem here. I've tryed everything: full wipe, custom rom, return to stock, downgrade, upgrade, etc.
I believe it's a hardware problem, I've bought both note 3 (mine and my wife's ) at the same time, but suddenly all sensors stop working. No root, nothing. I restore factory configuration many times, trying everything, including format and jump all account registration and don't installing nothing after format. Useless. Every time, after a few minutes, all sensors stop again.

Only mine have the problem, my wife's working perfectly.
Both phones without root. I only rooted after The problem appear and try everything.
Ok, so this is my experience, i updated my phone with the new 4.4.4 update and using it just fine for the last couple of weeks, today after i messed up some setings i decided to do a factory reset, i rebooted to stock recovery and did a wipe data/factory reset, after i made all my settings and installed all my apps i noticed the wifi was conected but not working, i went to wifi settings and unchecked avoid poor connections and wifi optimization, all was fine, but didn't understand why before the wifi was working just fine, after another factory reset i decided to do another factory reset but from the settings of the phone located in backup & reset, after that the problem was solved, now i have checked only wifi optimization and the wifi is working perfect. So i think the stock recovery is buggy, because i tryed once to clean the cache partition, and it took 10 min and the phone just reseted itself, on 4.4.2 was the same problem, only the wiping was faster then reset (still a bug).
So the conclusion is do a factory reset from the settings of the phone, not the stock recovery.
I am running stock firmware, stock recovery, locked bootloader.
Please, if someone try this fix, report back

Hi everyone, hope all doing well.
My Note 3 with Stock Samsung ROM KK 4.4.2 [N9005XXUGNG1]
Rooted, TWRP 2.8 recovery on it.
The Camera Only work if the mobile just restarted and it'll work nice up to 20~22 hours of device stand-by time after that if I need to use it it will not work at all unless I restart the mobile and once the mobile just freshly start it will work nice
I got message like: Camera Failed, Unfortunately Camera stopped, Can't Connect to the Camera.
I tried to Flash stock ROM kitkat 4.4.2 GNG1, UAE, and I made root and I observe the Camera it work up to 56 hours of device stand-by time but after that
the same happen and it never work or response unless I restart the mobile.
Now it is again up to 20~21 hours of stand-by or working mobile hours and it will not work unless restart the mobile.
I tried to install other Camera application like Camera KK, the same when the stock Camera Not work also the other application Not work.
Is this Hardware problem ( Camera it self need to replace ) ?????
Or is it Software issue ( ROM, Firmware, Kernel, .... ) ?????
Please any idea and your opinion to solve this problem.

I have been struggling for a couple of weeks now with my MXP, it suddenly stopped auto rotating everything (All stock apps, desktop, installed apps), tried several fixes including cache cleaning, uninstalling recent updates, sensor fix tool apps (like Quick TuneUp), the issue appeared after the Nougat 7.1.1 update (NDP26.48-24-1) but I don't think it is related to it because it was working fine after I patched with the OTA.
Update: I found out that the accelerometer works correctly using Spirit Level app, I already factory reset my device 2 times with no change.
Hope someone can give me some light!
My x play in that all sensors are not working pls provide some solution....

Did you check settings/display/rotate screen?
Don't know the exact wording, my device shows German.
