So, I'm currently running cloudyg2 2.2, and I'm thinking about downgrading back to stock and then taking the OTA to lollipop, but I haven't heard anyone mention if it is possible to retain root through the update process, or to obtain root afterwards. It'd be great if there was a flashable zip, but I don't know if that's possible at the moment.
You can get root again. Its a script in the development forum.
If you do this can you make a twrp backup of the stock lollipop rom and upload it? (since you'll essentially be pure stock anyway).
I'll buy you a beer
I see a link for a tool you use while connected to a computer, but does stump root still work?

No, all on-device roots are patched with Lollipop (unless you have a custom recovery, which is unobtainable on stock lollipop for the d800 as far as I know)
Use the one that requires PC. If you run into issues, pm me or reply to me on this thread.

root is easy, and ill confirm about bump recovery in 30 mins, charging phone for any re flashing required.
recovery is good to go now autorec for specific model at playstore.
Please upload flashable zip of this official AT&T lollipop.
Does anyone know if downgrading back to kitkat is a possibility at this point in time?

I'd assume you could just use a kdz to go back.
So.. no recovery as of yet on official Lollipop am I right?
Keeping that in mind, is it worth the update? Is it smoother/better?
I know this can be asked in any of the other threads, but I'm asking here with respect to its worth when compared to losing Custom Recovery.

you should be on download mode
download mode should be working with drivers and all.
I'm new to rooting, and have rooted my phone using KingoRoot from my P.C.
It works fine, but when I reboot, it reboots into recovery mode which then allows me to reboot normally.
I surfed some of the forums to find a solution to this and found a common answer which I tried.
1) Factory reset
2) Wipe partition/cache
3) Reboot
This I did, but it has not resolved the issue.
Android 4.4.4
Build KTU84P.G530FXXu1AOE2
Kernel 3.10.28-599907 [email protected] #1
I have now done this twice to ascertain that the issue has not been fixed and am loath to carry on lest I brick the phone - of course, there is the other reason, setting it up from new every time is a real drag.......
Use flashify flash kernal back to stock one after root

Thanks for your response, I'll have a look at flashify, will it unroot the phone?
O.K. Had a look, have installed, will look for some tutorials before I use it !
I cannot find a download link for the correct build number and even when I go to download by country/carrier it is not listed.
TWRP has no listing for it, and neither does CWM. PHILZ just doesn't go there...
I suspect that it is already somewhere on the phone since it is "stock" but after having looked, I am unable to find it.
Any suggestions ?
I might can upload mine kernal, but it's 5.1.1, if you want to use my kernal you have to upgrade to 5.1.1 lolipop. If you want to do that pls let me know I will teach you how to.
Yes, Lollipop will be fine !

Download and install Kies3,Trun phone into download mode, and use kies update your phone to 5.1.1, then download kingroot and flashify, use kingroot to root, DO NOT REBOOT after root, use flashify flash kernal to stock one. Then enjoy.
I think you misread my first post

Thanks for your response !
My phone is already rooted and has been rebooted a few times since then.
So, what now ?
So, I downloaded samsung Kies 3.2 (latest) and connected the phone, no problem there.
When I click initialise upgrade, Kies stops responding.
Downloaded Kies 3.1 - same thing.
According to Samsung update, there is no upgrade for my phone to 5.1.1. Are you sure that this is possible. You said that you would teach me, but you have really not told me anything !

First, the grand prime is able to update to 5.1.1 lolipop, I'm sure because mine is on 5.1.1. Go to Settings -> About phone, on the top you can see a option to update your phone. After update your phone go download kingroot and flashify. After you root your phone , use flashify to flash the kernal back to stock one. I will upload stock kernal soon.

I have looked for it and not found it. There are some galaxy prime phones that do (G531F does)
I just want to keep my phone rooted as it is, and sort out the boot issue.
If you can't help with this, thanks for trying !

Have you reboot yet? If you do and still works fine that's means you are good.
Problem is resolved !
I have resolved the issue myself.
It appears as if all I needed to do was remove the battery for a short period of time.
The phone now boots correctly and I have not lost my root access !
So I installed custom recovery on my phone to root it(I have Marshmallow ) , Now I want to try Lollipop but do I need first to delete recovery and all that and then downgrade or what ?
Btw. Last time I had Lollipop I disabled autoinstalling updates and it installed anyway , so do I need first to root my device ?

If you want, after you root your phone, you can disable Fota Agent, using Titanium backup, to stop autoupdate to Marshmallow, this way you will always stay on Lollipop.

The problems are you will go back to stock kernel, recovery etc (not big things a guess). Afterwards, you will have to re-root and install recovery (if you want it back)
#I still choose odin since it does not require internet connection to download firmware

That's why I use odin, I was also constrained root. When I press "UPDATE" button, enter to Preparing for Update status. But after it reaches 100% it freezes. Even after 1 hour wait the same. And this can not be a reference. Could you be lucky to do it (if you still desperate to try)
