Hey, I flashed the new DP4. Now I wanted to revert back to MM but the phone doesn't boot up twrp. It just hangs at the twrp splash screen. Fastboot wont work either. REbooting into bootloader doesn't work. Going for it reverts the phone back to the screen where you see an android laying on its back. Evrything enabled except for download mode. Even clicking on starts doesnt boot up andorid n. Android n only boots up when click either on factory or bp tools?? Typing adb devices via adb only show list of attached devices, typing fastboot devices results into nothing
Any ideas how to get back to twrp.
When you say bootloader doesn't work; what doesn't work about it? Your bootloader should look like this http://www.androidcentral.com/sites...exus-6P_bootloader-unlock-1.jpg?itok=aDeXgpNz
From there you should be able to flash the factory image and get a usable phone back.
Yeah if your bootloader didn't work you would have an actual brick(meaning no turning on and nothing on screen). That's the one thing your phone can't function without. Unplug your phone from PC and then hold the button combo to boot bootloader. Then flash a factory image minus the -w command and then flash recovery.

Your bootloader is fine, if it was damaged your phone wouldn't boot at all. Boot into the bootloader and flash the factory images, details in my guide:

It's hard for me to suggest anything because you haven't given any background on the situation. Here's an idea though:
Flash TWRP recovery to the device.
Enter TWRP, enter the wipe menu, select advanced wipe, tick the system, data, cache, and dalvik cache boxes, and swipe to wipe.
Boot back into the bootloader and flash the factory images (minus the userdata.img).
Boot the phone up.
If you need instructions for any of this look at my guide:

I updated TWRP today to 2.3.0.0 from within GooManager then rebooted into recovery and fixed my permission. It was done unusually fast and when I rebooted, it would get stuck on the booting screen. When I tried to boot into recovery by pressing power and both volume buttons, it would get stuck on the google logo.
Please advise.
Any other way I can fix this or somehow restore from a backup?
A lot of users are having issues with cwm and twrp not booting with new boot loader. You can revert back to old version or some have had success by deleting "recovery-from-boot." file. You can look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779092 I'm going to wait patiently for a twrp update that should resolve the issue.

Thank you very much!
I'm sorry but I'm not too much of an expert on Android. AFAIK Recovery mode is the only way I know to do some low system stuff. If I can't boot into recovery, how else can I do anything to fix this?

If I try to boot into system, it's stuck on boot animation.
If I try to boot into recovery manually (power + volume buttons then select recovery) it would get stuck on Google. It doesn't loop.
I see that you posted over on the twrp thread, hopefully those guys can help you. I am assuming that you have updated to 4.1.2? If you're really stuck maybe try a tool kit like wugs or n7 toolkit? Sorry but SDK isn't one of my strong points either

You can reflash recovery from fastboot. If you've updated to 4.1.2 you might be experiencing same issue as many of us - being unable to boot to recovery. If that is the case, flash bootloader 3.34 from the JRO03D factory image as well.

From what I understand, in order to reflash recovery from fastboot would require me to get the file to the device. However, right now I can't seem to get access at all as it never boots up whether into system or recovery. Are there any other ways to get files onto there?
---
OK this is weird. I tried rebooting into recovery again and it worked! I then rebooted into system and that worked too! This is so strange because I didn't do anything different. I guess it just took 20+ tries... I am not rebooting in a while... lol

which sounds like you were able to get to fastboot mode (power + vol buttons) - your N7 should look like this. From there you can issue fastboot commands to the device to flash recovery. kerne, and bootloader to name a few.
Actually I spoke too soon.
I can boot into recovery TWRP 2.3 with USB plugged in, but still can't boot into system.
Is it possible for me to downgrade to TWRP 2.2 from within TWRP? I kind of doubt it but am pretty desperate at the moment lol.
Yes, I can get into fastboot, but I'm not sure how to do anything besides pressing volume up or down to start, recovery, fastboot or shut down.

If you can get in to fastboot you are in good shape. :good:
You'll need the fastboot program (and the driver if on Windows) on your computer in order to issue commands. This guide can direct you on how to get that set up.

Fortunately I was able to wipe everything while I was in recovery and restore from my most recent backup and now it's working fine. At the very least it's allowing me to boot into system
OK I'm really not rebooting for a while lol
I installed twrp a few weeks ago through GooManager and made a backup. When the 4.1.2 update came out, I downloaded it manually with the intent on flashing it via cu custom recovery, but low and behold twrp wasn't working at all. Even with my device plugged into my Win 7 pc... nothing but the exclamation point droid.
I was able to install an updated version of twrp and get everything sorted out, but now I don't have a lot of faith in it, and am booting into recovery at least once a day to make sure it's still working. I never had any problems with cwm.

no, its the data(and other stuff) causing it not to boot. same thing when flashing custom rom, you wipe when fkashing different roms. and going from android 4.2.2 to 4.3, theres many changes, enough to consider it a different rom.
Shoot...I should have done more research before doing this.
I did a factory reset through the stock bootloader...but it's still looping on the 'X' screen.
Can someone walk me through this or point me to a guide?
Bootloader is currently unlocked and I'm able to get into the factory recovery.

yea, the zip youd want to wipe data/factory reset, then flash the rom. dirty flashing wont help since the changes are big enough.

I bought my ole lady a Nexus 4 for Valentines day, anyway, today she got the OTA update and let it install the update. Now mind you she is 100% stock, adb debugging was not enabled, and her bootloader was still locked. (She would not let me touch her Nexus 4 lol) When the device rebooted it stuck on Android Upgrading finishing boot. So I said well let me see what I can do, this is what I did to fix it.
I use only Ubuntu so this may not work on windows i do not know. I Booted the device to the bootloader, connected it to my laptop via USB. I opened a terminal and typed in "sudo fastboot devices" and entered my password when promted and this gave me the device ID and fastboot letting me know fastboot was working. I then typed in "sudo fastboot reboot" and the device rebooted but was stuck on the bootanimation. I opened the internal storage up on my laptop in my file explorer and made a copy of her internal storage. Next I booted the device back into the bootloader then opened a terminal and typed in "sudo fastboot oem unlock" and the device gave me the unlock warning and the yes or no options. I selected yes so it would factory reset. After it did the factory reset the device reboot and booted to the setup welcome screen. Hope this helps others, also thanks to my good good friend Ljjehl for reminding me to use "sudo".
Edit: If you open the command promt with Administrative permissions in Windows this will work in Windows as well. Go to C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe and right click on the cmd.exe file and select run as administrator. Then CD to the location with your fastboot.exe command. Thanks to another good friend TheBr0ken.
Thanks for the help...
I just ended up flashing each of the 4.3 components from the factory image. Just annoyed that I lost everything...
I'm stuck at the same screen. I received the OTA update, I didn't do anything special. My phone is unlocked and rooted (or WAS) but that was months ago, the rest is stock.
I think having encryption on my phone may have made it do this. I don't think Google anticipated doing the update properly for encrypted phones. Now I fear I've lost everything because even if I could connect, all data is encrypted...
similar problem
After starting to OTA update it was going smoothly, i was making breakfast, came back to find my screen at the "starting apps" screen frozen. The little circle that rotated wasnt doing anything so i left it there for awhile longer and still nothing. It would not move off that screen so i held power button down and restarted. now its stuck at the X screen also.
Yeah, I'm stuck there too. Already tried Factory Rest, didn't work. So what can I do?
I was on stock 4.2.2 and unrooted. I used the 'Google Services Framework' hack to force the 4.3 OTA update. The update downloaded successfully, phone restarted to apply the update and then restarted again. And now its stuck at the Google screen and keeps on restarting :crying:
I dont have the USB drivers installed on my PC too.
Same Problem
I have a nexus 4 (stock and unrooted),after 4.3 update,it is lagging during phone lock on/off (2 sec/5 sec).Hence I restarted my phone,and it stuck at "x" logo.Did clean data 3 times and then its working.
The problem is,in 2 days,I have experienced and done above thrice?
What could have gone wrong?
Hi guys,
I've just found how to correct this problem. All you have to do is to correctly wipe your phone before flashing factory image.
So :
Fastboot erase boot
Fastboot erase recovery
Fastboot format cache
Fastboot format system
Fastboot format userdata
I've just unbrick a n4 this way 15 minutes ago.
I have found the problem in recovery where you can see error log saying "cannot mount cache"
So formating correct the issue.
Hope it can help, fingers crossed.

Hello,
I've got a problem. On monday my Nexus 7 2012 (with lastest stock Android) froze and I had to reboot it. But then it got in a bootloop where it would boot to the boot-animation (the four moving dots) and then restart after half a minute. Then I went into the bootloader to switch it off. When I switched in back on it just got stuck at the google logo.
I tried to reflash the stock rom, but I haven't unlocked the bootloader yet and everytime I try to do unlock it, it fails with "unknown error code".
At first I used Wug's Toolkit. When that didn't work I used cmd, but that doesn't work either.
I would really appreciate some ideas to solve that
You dont have to unlock the bootloader to flash factory images.
You can flash it with fastboot or a toolkit.
Did you try to get into recovery?
Maybe you can wipe some thing like cache, dalvik cache and system,
And then install the firmware again.
I once installed a firmware without properly wiping and also got stuck in thjis animation logo.
After wiping in recovery and re-flashing the firmware it worked again.

I dont't have any custom recovery installed. When I am trying to access the stock recovery mode via the bootloader then I get to the Google logo and "booting failed" is written in the upper left corner.
My guess is that the emmc is broken
Google search android factory images, download the appropriate one for your device
Then extract contents and double click the flashall.bat
If this fails then chances are your emmc has been severely corrupted, I've seen a few get to that point with the booting failed and its 50/50 if they resurrect their device
Best of luck
(Oh and don't use toolkits)

Status: Stuck on boot image
Solutions tried:
1. Factory reset + custom rom
2. Factory reset + stock rom
3. Full wipe with stock image from google dev.
4. WugFresh Root tool kit - Soft bricked + stuck in bootloop option.
I think that covers most of the solutions out there that I could find. It is always stuck on the boot screen. Left it for hours but it was basically stuck. I've seen other people's issues resolved by doing at least one of the above.
IS there something I'm missing? Any solutions?
Update: Ended up getting a replacement (was under warranty). I tried all possible solutions. The factory setup for 4.2.2 was the only one that would boot. But I did not have IMEI and Baseband. Nothing seemed to work. Not sure what would cause that.

Thanks. Yes I tried that right after the recoveries failed to do anything. Its really weird because once the system is stuck at the boot image, the computer after a while tries to communicate over USB but fails. As if the boot animation is just a front and Android is trying to do something to load for the first time. I'm not sure what got corrupted. All this started randomly 4 days after I had flashed a nightly update on Omni.
Update: So i tried to flashing a custom ROM (oh WTH moment) and see if that makes any difference. (CM 11 Nightly from JAN 26). The system actually booted up to the android is upgrading screen this time. Now it is stuck on "Starting Apps" screen. Progress? i'm not sure if the stock was already NOT doing this behind the scene. Is there a reason for it to be stuck here? Is this some sort of indicator?

Hello I'm experiencing the exact same problem, tried both these solutions to no avail. Stock 4.2.2 image the the only one that boots, but with no IMEI or network connection whatsoever. Is there anything else I can try to fix this? Thanks.
I have the US version of the ZTE Axon 7 running the B29 build.
I recently unlocked the bootloader successfully, When I flashed the TWRP recovery via fastboot soon after, it worked perfectly. Phone booted properly and worked normally. When I tried to install the TWRP app in the OS, I was told to download the latest TWRP version from the website and flash it (even though I had the latest version already flashed from fastboot). I did that. Now I have no recovery menu at all. I have access to the bootloader menu, and I can boot into the phone. When I try to boot into recovery, all I get is a black screen. I tried to reflash the TWRP recovery img from fastboot like I did originally with no success this time. Fastboot recognizes the phone when I type devices, but when I type the fastboot command to flash recovery twrp.img, it says it can't load the file. I then downloaded the ZTE stock recovery img and tried to flash that with the same result. I assume the recovery partition is locked somehow now? What can I do to recover the recovery? Am I stupidly forgetting something trivial.

I think he means go to fadtboot and do fastboot clear cache or something like that, Google fastboot cache clear command
