I was looking to factory reset my Tab 4 7.0 to sell, but since I've rooted it and installed TWRP, the process wasn't as simple as I'd have liked. I tried the standard Factory Reset function of TWRP, but it didn't do anything. I tried Wipe Data, still nothing. Then I did an Advanced Wipe and checked off everything, not realizing one of the options was to wipe /system. Now my Tab 4 keeps rebooting to TWRP, and the recovery also states "No OS is installed".
I'm currently downloading the new NH1 firmware from SamMobile and considering flashing it through Odin 3.09. Would this be the most effective method, considering I had no prior backup made to the tablet? Will this likely remove my root access and custom recovery? Is there a chance of tripping something like a Knox counter and bricking my device (happened once when I tried an old method to root my Note 3, Knox blocked part of the flash and left the system halfway between two OS images)
Sounds like you're on the right track with downloading the firmware off of SamMobile. I had a similar issue with my Galaxy Tab 2 and that got my tablet out of its funk.

At this point I've tried all the ROMs listed on SamMobile for my tablet and all fail to completely flash. Odin says it was fully successful, but when the tablet tries to boot, I only hear half the boot sound and then the boot animation just sits there saying Samsung with the little blue dots popping out of it, and that's it.
Are there any other types of ROMs I can flash to this system? Does it matter what version of Odin I'm using? (Tried 3.06 and 3.09, both unsuccessful)

hi i have a tab 3 7.0. why dont you try using odin 3.07 if that fails try emergency firmware recovery in kies. odin flashing of official firmware does not increase binary counter as stated by sammy tech support. but you flashing twrp does increase binary count. hope i helped.

I have successfully flashed ND9 and N2E firmwares with Odin 3.07. The NH1 firmware is corrupt when I download it. These are the Cellular South versions which I assume are the US firmwares. I did also flash the Canada versions and I couldn't tell them apart. Currently on ND9 firmware so I could get it rooted. I only have the WiFi 230NU.

this question may sound silly but have you tried to wipe data/cache after full odin firmware install?
I believe i was able to keep all my apps and data after full firmware upgrade using odin, so it isnt doing full wipe after all.
.
I rooted and installed TWRP on this device and decided I wanted to get the SM-T330NU instead. I returned the T230 and the clerk tried to factory reset the device and it booted up into TWRP - the clerk made the comment "What in the world" but did not say anything. I had tried to factory reset it before returning and it would not work either.

If you power off the device and then boot up into download mode, connect the usb to your pc and run odin you can flash the factory stock image to the device using odin and that will reset the device to stock. Replacing TWRP with the factory recovery image and everything else. You can download the stock files for the device either by searching these forums or going to sammobile. Try starting with the oldest version available and update from there. I rooted and unrooted the SM-T230NU several times using this method and had no issues. Be patient. Allow the device 5 minutes to boot up after flashing the stock. Make sure the device has 80% charge or better before starting. Leave the device connected to the PC with odin open until you see a message in odin that reads, "passed".

Just install deodexed rom from twrp
I don't think sm-t230's have Knox do they? You didn't kill your tablet just flash a stock ROM from sammobile. And you'll be a-OK

Ok so I'd like to put AllianceROM on my international version SM-G900F H3G UK model.
To do so, my plan is to downgrade lollipop to 4.4.2 stock, root with TowelRoot, then install the ROM through Mobile Odin Pro (to preserve the KNOX counter). I've just tried to flash 4.4.2 onto the phone, but I cannot get it to start at all after it's flashed. The phone just hangs on the Three (H3G) boot animation.
I'm hoping that I've just got confused with the Sammobile site and that I've just flashed the wrong 4.4.2 firmware (so far tried flashing ANG2 and ANE2). Something I should have checked earlier but I just thought they were updated versions of the same ROM).
If I can't successfully boot into 4.4.2, I'd like to try flashing lollipop to retrieve some files I forgot to backup (another silly mistake). I'm not sure whether I can take files off it through the ADB sideload or whatever but if I have to lose all my data then I'm not too bothered.
What's the best way to go about my situation?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Right, thanks man. After flashing lollipop, I can now boot up and back up stuff. I'll flash 4.2.2 again and factory reset.
Hello all,
I am looking for some advice, on getting my AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 working again. I will keep this as short as I can:
I originally had 4.3 rooted with the MK2 firmware, and used Odin to flash my phone to 4.4 NB1, using the ROM in the Guide to Stock/Updating/Rooting thread.
This worked fine, and I was able to boot and use the phone, but my root access was gone.
I tried Towelroot, Kingo, etc... to no success.
I then followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2692825 thread to semi downgrade to MK2 and was able to obtain root again. I also installed Safestrap recovery.
At this point I could not successfully boot back into the phone, though I could access Safestrap.
I flashed the stock kernel for NB1 again, but still could not boot.
I then flashed the stock NB1 ROM again.
After this, the phone would show the android icon and a progress bar, then restart, reach the Samsung load screen, start the AT&T load screen and then boot loop.
Once I reached this point, I could no longer access recovery, only download mode.
In my attempts since then. I've found if I stop the phone from ever getting to the Samsung load screen after flashing the stock ROM, I can then access recovery. As soon as I let it boot, I cannot access recovery.
I've flashed the stock ROM multiple times at this point, gotten into recovery and wiped the devices then rebooted multiple times.
I just don't know what else I can do.
Does anyone have any ideas? A place to look? Any help appreciated!
So I have a galaxys s5 g900f which i cleared it from a rom i used before and got it back to the original form of it. Got the .tar.md5 file of the official galaxy software from sammobile and installed it with odin. After that I wanted to root my phone again and stick with the official software. I tried to do that by the way I always used to with CF-Auto-Root using Odin once more and after downloading the file my phone was normally rebooting to recovery but it actually got stuck there without doing anything. Tried to flash twrp too but still nothing. The only thing i can flash at the time is the official software. Anyone had this issue before and can help? Thanks in advance
Flash the stock ROM again and get your phone back up and working properly
Then use this guide to root / twrp

Ive been having issues with my S5. Whenever I open the play store it crashes right away. I tried everything. Even reinstalling it.
Im going to just wipe everything and re root. I flashed NK2 kernal, but it didnt look like it changed anything. All my settings were still the same from after I tried the factory reset.
How do I install a fresh install again? I dont see the instructions or files any more. Seems like you had to go down to 4.2 then 4.4 then root.
I need to get this thing rooted again by saturday. I have a trade show this weekend. Need tethering. Ill lose a lot of money if I dont.
Thanks guys
You can check what firmware you are on NY going to recovery mode. To boot into recovery turn off your phone then hold power button home button and volume up button at the same time. Then check what firmware it says on the screen.
If you are on kitkat yes downgrade to 4.4.2 download the firmware on Sammobile. Com
Flash firmware using Odin
Then setup your device
Then root your device with towel root download
Then click make it rain and you should have root
After that try these Tethering apps
http://mashable.com/2012/08/16/free-tethering-apps/#43d31vkkSmq8
If you need bootloader unlock you can go to getex's kk-mm bootloader unlock thread on xda in s5 Verizon forum
If you are on lollipop go to Sammobile. Com and download and then flash bok3 or pb1 firmware in Odin to your phone
Then set it up and go to ok3 root forum on xda under s5 Verizon and follow jrkruses method to get root
Then try the Tethering apps from the link above
If marshmallow downgrade to ok3 or pb1 then follow the lollipop instructions from there
