afaik, towelroot will not work on OB6/OF1 (5.x.x) stock ROMs. The vuln that it used was patched in those releases.
Correct me if I am wrong please.

Hey guys! So i just switched from a sprint note 3 to a verizon note 3. I NEED root but my company uses mobile iron. Is there a way to use it and keep root?
Also whats the best way to root this? All I want is root no custom recover.
haha good bc cystom recovery isn't possible atm on retail verizon note 3. seems like vroot is the only way to go right now without tripping knox but do ur research.

believe it or not I like the stock rom (this is the first phone I have ever been able to say that with)
So vroot... hmmm I shall look into it. But I still need to know about the mobile iron.
well I should have been more specific we can flash roms and some mods with safestrap (a sorta of custom bootloader workaroundl). but we do not have the ability to flash custom kernels.

Try Rootcloak to hide root from the app. Works for another MDM software similar to that.
Edit:
Use the one from xposed framework. In not sure if the one from the play store works.
Can you link me to it?

Ok so kingo did not work.. Vroot. Did the trick. I did a factory reset after that and now I'm rooted. I loaded the new framework and root cloak. I will let you all know of it works.

I just bought a used Note 3 and it has the MJE baseband version on it. I checked software updates and it said my device was up to date. I was wondering if this is the newest baseband version and if I can root my phone on this baseband version. I just tried the Kingo root method and it failed. Which root method can I use to root my phone? Thanks for your help.

Wasn't sure if any of you knew about this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157
Basically you can now root the S5 and NOT trip knox.
Really it seems to be most phones that are 4.2.2 work.
This doesn't get you a boot loader etc. but gives root at least for those wanting to not risk warranty and get the bloat off.

Sorry about that :/
That one is closed too though FWIW and when it was closed it was just moved here.
After the simplest root ever, how does one go about a custom recovery? Do we still have to odin that or is it flashable?

If you do custom recovery you will trip knox making this method for you to root having been useless and you should have used one of the other options that does it all at once hah.
Can you use this root method and get the hotspot mod working without a custom recovery?

I've been wondering that exact same thing! And also if we can root NE5 with it!

You can but you need to be aware that you can get stuck in a boot loop. But if you are willing to take the risk.
Download the Odex version that matches your system, this is critical. Extract the services.jar and services.odex files. Use a root explorer to copy them to /system/framework. Change permissions to rw-r-r. Reboot and it will either work or not.

Or visit the official thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157 and use the new and improved version.
I have a SM-900F and this doesn't work on it. When I click on the logo inside the app, it says that it is not yet compatible with my device
Same here...This phone isn't currently supported (S5)

First flash old kernel with Odin
https://www.dropbox.com/s/cun1uainm2h07em/KERNEL_G900FXXU1ANE2.tar.md5
And then root your phone using Towelroot
when you done install SuperSu from market
And when your root is okay you can flash latest kernel and enjoy
Towel Root isn't working and, as far as I know, is not being updated anymore. Every guide I find on rooting this device points to that tool..

Thanks. I haven't gotten an OTA or OTG update, so I'm still on 4.4.4 AOA1.

I should note my earlier instructions were a little wrong, i forget what the active name is, but NCE is for the 900A, so you'll need to find 4.4.2 for the att active, i believe its in the same nce thread though of you checkk att s5 general.
