GameService is updated. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

I keep getting the notification that "GameService is updated." My GameService version is 1.0.45 if that makes a difference. When I tape the notification it goes away but nothing happens. Any ideas why this is happening? I'm wondering if it's because of some service/app i deleted or disabled.

No clue, I've been getting it as well. Running most recent release.

Yeah I'm on the latest release too. Come to think of it, I think this started after the update.

Very annoying, every time I unlock my phone I see this notification. Can't be disabled. Hope it gets patched soon.

Same issue. New galaxy s7 (so new software). I read somewhere to turn off notifications in Samsung's "Galaxy Apps" application. I did this, but it did not resolve.

I use package disabler and disable the Game Service, along with a crapload of other apps I don't use. Cleans up the app screen.

[Q] Samsung apps offering updates for apps that aren't installed

Hi there,
I have a question about the Samsung Galaxy S5 which I wonder if anyone else has noticed...
Basically I got a message from Samsung Apps store telling me that I have updates available for some preinstalled/built-in apps. These are:
* S Note
* Optical Reader
* S Translator
* Scrapbook
However here is the interesting part. These applications are not installed on my phone! At least they don't seem like they are. For instance, they are not under the Apps menu and they don't show under Application Manager -> All.
Moreover, if I update Scrapbook then (and only then) the app is shown under the Application Manager. What is even more interesting is that if I click on the application under Application Manager, it then gives me the option to uninstall the application, instead of the option to uninstall updates which is what I really get with built-in apps such as Gmail, S Health, etc.
So if I uninstall Scrapbook after I installed it (agian, the available option is to uninstall the entire app - ot the updates as if it was a built-in app), the app disappears from my phone (as expected), and then it shows back as an available update for a preinstalled/built-in app! How weird is that?!
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Try opening Samsung Apps, then select the option Purchased under Settings. There under Updates I can see the apps available for updates with in fact does not exist in my Android phone. I wonder if anyone else can replicate this issue?
I thought those were all installed previously, maybe I don't remember but it's not such an bad thing. They want you to try their apps to get their experience. It's understandable considering they include their own app store and some apps preinstalled.

I have the same issue. I put it down to Samsung poor wording. It's a little annoying but I can live with it.

Actually they are NOT all installed previously, and the issue is that Samsung Store keeps bugging me to update them when in fact I don't want to install them. So this is not understandable at all...
Same for me, today I disabled auto updates amd notifications in the Samsung app

Hah. in fact it just added two more apps under the "updates" tab. Samsung AllShare Cast Dongle S/W Update and NNL Fingerprint Passport.
VERY ANNOYING But I did what you suggested and disabled the auto updates.
I keep getting this happen to me too.

i wonder if it is because the apks are installed, but not activated at a system level....
i bet you the "bloat" is built into the stock ROM somehow....maybe that's why it is recognizing it as "update" rather than "install"
I find this annoying as well. My phone belongs to the company so I don't want to root it until there's a workaround for knox so I disabled or stopped a lot of Samsung apps. I'm still getting updates for them. I went on their support website and complained. I got a response. (A lame response, but at least a response.) I also complained to the Samsung app store. Complaining here is guaranteed to not make any difference. Complaining to Samsung might eventually make a difference if enough people do it.
I just disabled the Samsung store app since I could care less about Samsung's crummy store and their apps.
Same here - I went through and "updated" all of them before realising that they weren't even installed so I uninstalled them. Some of the apps were ones that were installed as standard on the S4 - so I'm guessing that they're apps that Samsung recommend you install.
Either way, it means that any *real* updates for apps that are only in the Samsung store rather than in Play won't happen now as I've disabled Samsung updates. Well done Samsung.

Issues after successfully sideloading Lollipop in N4

I was able to sideload Lollipop OTA in my N4 and its running fine but I am having some annoying things
First, I am getting this constantly annoying notification that says "An application requires update". When I press it, I get the page of Google Play Services in the play store and it says that its updated. How can I get rid of this notification?
Second, I cannot use the face unlock feature. Its not there at all. I saw on the web that it was moved to the smart lock option but I don't see it in the Security tab of the settings. Either the feature was removed from N4 or the system update was not a success.
Did this happen to you?
Third, with all the fuss that Lollipop should be more battery saving system, I find it that it drains the battery really fast.
Those were some annoying issue from Day 01 of Lollipop!

I've had this annoying update notification from Google Play Services on a Nexus 5, though not on a nexus 4. This happened after I downloaded and installed the latest apk of play services from apkmirror. The problem was resolved after updating to the next version when it became available again from apkmirror. So try updating and if no update is available, try installing the stock version.
Thanks for clearing that out.
What about Face unlock and battery drain?

Colors changing in game

When i'm on the normal screen i have the color right.
When i launch a game, the colors change and are way more saturate.
Nobody have this?
Check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/highly-saturated-lagging-playing-games-t3330344
Someone mentioned it to be related to GameService there, if you disable it it's gone (but I'm not sure what features of the game launcher and tool will be gone with it). I guess it's meant as a feature to make games look more vibrant.
thx but apparently is not the case... it continues even if gameservice is gone.
I can confirm Package Disabler -> GameService fixes the problem.
Samsung screwed up. I tried Force Stop of the service and Modify system settings disabling from the Applications settings screen, but neither worked.
Here's a fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=65741380
I read through the linked thread as well as the e other linked threads from that thread and all the other threads LOL but still don't see a solution to the screen Dimming and color shift without having to use package Disabler.
In one of the threads someone said that a software update from Verizon fixed it but I have the most recent update from Verizon and still have this problem.
So the question is has anyone figured out a way to stop this behavior without having to use package disabler?

S7 Edge Notification Delay and A Lot of Other Problems

Recently I am having notification delays with my S7 Edge G935F. I have read through some posts on this forum and other sources and can't figure it out.
Here are some of the problems:
1. notifications are often delayed for more than thirty minutes
2. if I want to manually check notification when it does not pop up, unlocking the screen does not make the notification show, I have to actually launch the specific app to see the notification
3. It is more than just not showing the notification, when I am using some instant messaging apps (like WeChat), I can't see new messages coming in while the app is running in the front. I have to press the home button and get back to home screen, then re-enter the app, then the messages show up. This happens to many other apps as well.
4. Other things go wrong as well. For example, my Android Auto was set to launch whenever I get into my car and car bluetooth is connected. It is also delayed, by more than hours. It often launches long after I finish my driving and get back home sitting on my couch.
5. Downloading new apps from Play Store has problems as well. It downloads to 100% and just stops there, it does not start installation. I have to use Settings->App to kill Play Store and re-open it to "refresh" it, then it starts to install.
6. After installation of new app, it does not show up on my screen or app draw inside my launcher. I can see the app installed in Play Store. I have to kill launcher and re-open the launcher to make it "refresh" the app list then I can see new app inside the app draw.
I have also tried a lot of ways to fix it:
1. change app to not battery optimized -> didn't fix it
2. update firmware -> didn't fix it
3. factory reset -> works for the first day then it goes wrong again
4. flash to a different firmware (official ROM in different regions) -> works for the first day then it goes wrong again
5. use third-party ROM (Lineage OS) -> completely fix the problem, but too buggy to use
I can see the general idea of what's going wrong, some events happened (connected to car Bluetooth, new messages coming, app finished downloading, new app installed, etc.) and the system is not responding correctly. I am not very familiar with Android development but I feel like something is wrong with the "event handling" or "event raising" inside Samsung's Android system.
Please post reply if you have any idea or are facing the similar problems.
EDIT:
The phone is on Android 7.0, Build Number NRD90M.G935FXXU1DQER
You've stated that flashing the custom ROM solved the problem, so maybe you should try flashing a different rom that's a bit more stable.
From personal experience i can recommend the SuperStock rom. It's stock (obviously) and it's debloated and very stable with pretty good battery life as far as i remember.
there is some info about it here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/want-to-root-custom-one-stay-stock-t3631098?styleid=18 (ignore the root part).
Hi,
did you find any solution to this problem ? cause i got the same problem, and i'm going crazy... few months already and can't figure out what is the problem...
the temporary fix i've found is disabling the "google app" in application manager... it fix the problem but i can't use any Google app features (and i like using them...).
I've found few ppl experiencing the same problem searching on internet but no one with a real fix...
if someone more experienced can help debut this it would really mean a lot...
I think it is the battery optimization setting. You may check the settings>battery>advanced settings>optimize apps. You need to keep the apps un-optimized if you want the notifications and sync.
Also, you may check if Sync is on or off.
If these two does not solve, factory reset if you are on stock ROM. If on a custom ROM, you may check a different ROM
Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Actually none of this works... The only thing that "fixes" the issue is disabling the Google app in the application manager... That's why its so weird...
The problem started around July/August 2017 for me...
As i discovered that disabling Google was fixing the problem, i assumed that they'll correct it by updating the app... But only one update of the app was ok, all others would make the problems reappear...
Messing with battery optimization settings doesn't change anything for me... Factory reset as well... The problem comes back as soon as the google app gets updated...
Try clearing cache and deleting data from the Google app the time the problem occurs
already tried... doesn't help at all...

Spammy popup messages about apps stopping?

So I restarted my rooted S7 Edge earlier (no big deal right) and upon unlocking the device after restart I started getting spammy popups alerting me that Health Services have stopped, and an option to Close app or send feedback. Neither option really did anything. So I finally managed to disable Samsung Health with these spammy popups appearing like 5/sec. Now I don't get quite as many spammy popups but now one appears for chrome and Bluetooth, which means chrome and Bluetooth are unusable. Anyone have any idea what is going on? I can't find anything on the interwebs about this problem. I didn't install anything new or change anything recently so I'm really confused.
Edit: It seems as time goes on more stuff is starting to stop. Now I'm getting Nearby Services and other apps that are closing.

Are you the first owner of this device or did you purchase it from someone else?
