When I used to call the same number for a few times after a few days it was automatically added on the favourite list.
Recently after an update it did stop happening.
Any help on this please?
What is your build number? Are you sure you've used properly PDP?
it was automatic update.

Im not sure about this one, but try to clear another package with name CatchFavorites and clear all data. Then reboot the device.

Thank you again. I tried it but no luckeven though i did update twice no luck even then.
Are you using PDP? No similar problem in latest security update. If you use 3rd party theme, there is way to fck up with you dialer. So in your device is any changes made before the update?

I did use the update over wifi only to update
Make a backup of your contacts (in your storage and google backup) , find contancts inn apps managerapp and delete all cache data. Then reboot the device and restore your backup via google backup.
After the recent update problem has been sorted. Perhaps took too long for Samsung to find it.
Thank you for your help

Thanks man it worked. The only thing is that I have to do it every so often. It also takes a lomg time for anything to show up (i.e. searches, downloads, and just browsing)
Thanks
Worked for me too
Thanko you!
Finaly!
I didn't need to uninstall updates. I fixed this by just clearing the data in the application. But yes, if an application hangs at install it seems to screw up the Market app.
Mhhh. Yesterday had an app (Volume) that was stuck on installing an app ... for hours.
Thanks! Fixed my issue.
Thanks, worked great

Am I missing something? When I goto settings>applications>manage applications>market I can clear data and clear cache but I can't uninstall anything.
I cleared both the cache and data but once I except the terms of service it FC again. And I still have the issue with FC after every install or uninstall.
Anyone care to chime in here? I'm still having issues with the market crashing even after clearing data and cache.
Also I notice the market will crash after I set my USB connection type to data (connect to the computer).
WTF!? i have tried partitioning/formating the sd card and reinstalling cm6.1.1 and everytime i login to my google account and go to the market IT ALWAYS CRASHES! i dont have anything but 2 purchased apps that are not installed. clearing data and such does not help. even tried to reinstall cm6.1.1 with and without hdpa gapps but the problem is still there. i have flashed roms countless times and this is a first. makes me want to get a blackberry now.
Worked, but now I have the old version. Does it upgrade itself?
I've installed new rom and when market updates it crashes. I did wipe chace, unistal update and yes it works. I get back my old market. But after few minutes it updates itself to new one and I'm back at the begining.

Where is your Market update installing to - /data or /system?
Sorry but I'm new here. How can I see where updates are? Do I need to go to recovery and find market folder somewhere in -data or -system?
You can use a file browser and look in /system/app and /data/app to see if the Market is there - however, a better option is to use Titanium and use the batch options to "Integrate updates of system apps in ROM".
Once the Market is back in the /system it should behave a lot better...
-data/app folder is empty. I found Marketupdater.apk in -system/app. I'll try this Titanium and report back how are things.
Ok I've fixed it. You just need to select english language in settings and it dosn't crashes anymore.
PS: Sorry for bad english.

This is the solution for most market FC issues. Someone should pin this.
Hi!
I could not find an App which saves and restores WifiSettings so I tried and wrote my first Java Application... :-D
This is currently Root-only and tested on an HTC Desire (Rooted Stock-Froyo), so please, to be on the safe side, do a nandroid-Backup before you test this on your device (!!!). The backup should not damage anything, it basically copies your wpa_supplicant.conf to your sd-card, but I experienced problems when restoring the settings _before_ enabling the Wifi Connection for the first time after a full wipe (probably something with file permissions, I'm working on that).
Instructions
- Install apk as usual
- Press "Backup" to save your wpa_supplicant.conf on your SD-Card
(for testing - delete some wireles networks you can restore manually, for example your home network)
- Press "Restore" to restore your wpa_supplicant.conf in place
The app disables your Wifi before and reanables it after the restore process.
I suggest, because this is not yet tested well, you do a nandroid backup and don't blame me if you didn't and after restore your wifi won't start anymore...
I hope this is of use to someone...

Confirmed to work on:
- HTC Desire Stock (rooted)
- OpenDesire (4.0.x)

v0.2:
- (hopefully) fixed the "Could not find Wifi-Config"-Error
Android 2.2 backs them up automatically under your gmail settings. This is a great app for people under 2.2 and for others who don't let Google store their backups. Good luck. Will be following this thread.

Dammit...
I actually didn't know that google does that. But could you tell me how you can restore them after a factory reset? I couldn't find any option for that and did not notice my wireless configurations to magically reappear :-/
Regards
karoodee
Been looking for an app that does this for ages. Its a nightmare to keep inputting wifi access codes after a wipe and new rom install.
Cheers
EDIT - Tried it but it does not work. Says cannot find wifi config file. Never mind!
This is on a desire running Modaco R8 Rom.
Wifi config file is located /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
@beady_uk: Could you try the new version I uploaded to the first post? That would be nice... :-D
- REMEMBER, because this is pretty alpha, to do a nandroid-backup before restoring, it could be that your wifi cannot be enabled if something goes wrong :-/

Hello
I have this problem. whenever I open play store and apply updates or install new apps, the play store crashes and the updates are interrupted until I re-open it and resume the update manually. This doesn't seem to happen when the updates are done in the background automatically without opening the store first. I have already tried uninstalling, deleting cache and data, reboot etc. but the problem persists.
I have the Samsung Galaxy note 3 SM-N9005 LTE version with rooted kitkat 4.4.2

I see that very few people have this very annoying issue
I just don't want to resort to factory reset. I mean I know it will probably fix it but I just don't feel like setting my phone up again from the start which is time consuming, besides, what would be the purpose of this wonderful community if all problems were solved by wiping up one's phone.
I was wondering if the cause could be some poor memory management or bad cleaning/anti-virus apps interfering with the memory management I mean I am a complete noob in terms of android management but I assume when there are multiple apps being downloaded/updated at the same time it must consume a great deal of resources but for an app to crash without even the popup message that says "....has stopped" I have never seen before

Maybe you try to get a appstore.apk, delete your's wipe Cache and then install the apk.
I would also recommend data wipe though cause with backup (I use titanium) it'll be less time consuming than everything else. Just backup user data and you won't have to set it up again. The thing is it's not guaranteed that the problem lies within playstore and since we don't have your phone in our hands it is nearly impossible to point you to the exact fix.

well... speaking of backup I also use titanium and nandroid, thank god for that because earlier I tried something stupid (suggested here on XDA though) I cleared the app store cache and data which is fine because I did it before with no problem but then I cleared the google services framework data/cache, I wish I hadn't because it literally messed everything up. I was unable to connect at all to the store even though I had a good network connection. thank god it worked again after I restored the app/data
I can live with that issue. it's not such a hassle since I usually check the play store for updates every day at least. but I may try your first suggestion though. thanks 4aces

As you wish b careful though. I think (definitely not 100% sure) you have to put the apk file in device/system/apk with es file Explorer or root Explorer and than put the permission to rw rr.
That's why I recommend full wipe.

thanks for the link. maybe I could try to update it as my version is 4.6.17 which is older than 4.8.19 and see if there is a change. One thing I don't understand is that one can only disable it and not uninstall it so does that mean it's a system app even though it's not in the /system/app folder? should I convert it to user app with titanium prior to update?

One more suggestion. Try to open application manager in settings and select all. Look for download manager and clear the cache then reboot.
If it doesn't help wait for other replies or wipe data will have to do the work.

I tried that but didn't help. then I tried to update and move to system, made it even worse as play store crashed as soon as I hit the update button. Reinstalling the app wouldn't help so I had to restore a nandroid backup. I'm giving up now but won't waste time doing a wipe data because it's not a real issue since I'm able to update anyway by hitting the button and close play store right after. All my apps still update in the background anyway
Hi, I've got a problem I cant fix.
I wanted to downgrade Google Search so I uninstalled updates and it went back to stock. I then installed the version I wanted. v3.1
Now, this is my problem. I DONT want it to show in Google Play as an update so I tried to make a updated APK like I have with many other apps where I like older versions.
Now I used Lucky Patcher and that didn't like making the modded APK but it did back a backup. So I clicked RESTORE BACKUP. and guess what? It deleted the app instead of restoring it.
Now when I try to install it from either any APK or even directly from Google Play it keeps saying the device is full and fails to install.
I have over 1GB free. I've deleted about 10 apps and still keeps saying device is full. I've reinstalled those 10 apps and they fit and install without problems and I still have over 1GB free.
HOW do i get Google Search reinstalled? I dont want to reflash it as I will loose ROOT and that was a big enough ***** to install the first time.
I have a stock recovery menu. Rooted Galaxy S4 i9505 4.3 official firmware.
I did delete delvik cache and the cache in recovery menu.
I cant find any other ways to restore it? I tried titanium backup with the backup I have of it but that never ends when I click restore. It doesn't finish, doesn't do anything just sits there saying its restoring but never stops still I kill it even after 30 mins it was still restoring.
Anyone??
I did try Titanium Backup and made a update.zip and that fails both from SDCARD and ADB as its not signed and its stock recovery.
Do I have to install a custom recovery? Can I use the one I used with 4.2.2 or do I have to get a 4.3 version? That was i9505-cwm-recovery-6.0.3.2-4.tar
Anyone?
I'm stumped. I dont have a clue whats going on and why it wont install and why its saying its full when its got 1GB free.

Thanks for the reply.
Was hoping not to do that.
BUT, everything still works without it anyway and as it stole the use of my Bluetooth button it wont be missed but I do like the Google Now alerts.
What happened with me was the latest few versions stole the link to the bluetooth button. Before when you pressed the button you had the option of S-Voice or Google Search and now the newer versions dont have that option and always use Google Search and you have no way to revert back to S-Voice. I had Google Search disabled for a while but I want to use Google Now so I need the app but not the new version so an old version works fine. I think the last is 3.1? I didn't try 3.2 but I know 3.4 has that forced Google Search now.

I got it installed and fixed a few other apps at the same time.
I went to root /data/data and found the google search was a 0kb file so I deleted it and it installed fine after that. I also had a few other apps that were playing up so I deleted those folders and they now install and work fine.
So in the end no need to reflash just remove the corrupt files and its all fixed.
I did find out Google Search 3.3 is the last of the good versions, 3.4 is when it steals your bluetooth's connection and uses it for its own without letting you choose default.
As S-Voice is a Samsung feature those not with a Samsung phone wont care but those like me that use S-Voice will be annoyed that the latest Google Search removes the choice. I recommend to disable so it goes back to default version then get v3.3 and install that and use an app to remove it from updating in Google Play then all will be good.
it's solved right?
but anyway maybe you could try to flash gapps . Don't now if it will works but i good to try anyway ;D

When uninstalling on stock, you only delete apk file. You have also to delete corresponding odex odex file in system/
Then, you have to remove also corresponding folder in system/data/data
Then, you can try to reinstall the app.

I do that and it doesn't work with Titanium Backup.
I want to remove it completely so it doesnt even see it in the Google play store.
In Titanium Backup you can remove it from Google Play but that option doesn't work as I've had it removed twice and its updated both times.
So far its working. I've turned it into a user app and removed it from the store and its not updated yet but I will give it till tomorrow and if it auto updated like the last 2 times I will just uninstall it again and not use it. Its more trouble than its worth anyway.

I want it installed, I want to use Google Now but I don't want to update to the bad version and I don't want Google Play to keep telling me there is an update so I want it removed from Google Play.
As I said Titanium Backup does have a "Detach from Market" option which does remove it but after a few hours it updates anyway so that option doesn't work.
When you make a custom APK it's not seen in the Market so that works but Google Search doesn't work when you customise the APK.

I've unticked that box so Google Search won't auto update but it's still in the update list and it still gives notifications that it needs to be updated.
It needs to be removed from Google Play, that's the only way to stop it from updating or asking to update and it's the only app I can't customise that I've tried. I've modded many apps and they work and they are removed from Google Play but this one I can't.
I also want other apps to auto update so I dont want to turn that option off.

YES YOU CAN.
Just install Market Fixer and that removed it. But it does sometimes show up after a reboot. I rebooted twice and it showed up the first time but not the 2nd time.
So it looks like I've fixed the problem.
Titanium Backup's 'Detach from Market' doesn't work but Market Fixer does the same thing and that does work.
The problem I think is its a system app, its used by my Google account, its used by half the system so its not easy to hide from the App Store. As other apps aren't used the same way they are easily hidden but Google Search isn't.

It is Google services Framework that must be clear to receive update + the google, google play services and locatuon services.
Plus after clearing go back to the vpn app and reactivate the tunnel.
Do not put sim back until update will be installed
Worked for me.
I get it before this post, but it's similar. In my case, I just changed the system language to English (for view all the apps mentioned) instead of timezone. And don't needed to remove my accounts (even Google accounts). Gps off and without SIM cards. About the apps to clear data, when clear Google Services Framework, it's recomended to force stop too. After all, I start vpn in India server and try to update. And it's done! Very similar. Works for me. Maybe works for someone else.

Yepp works fine. :good::good:
I've tried it with Torguard VPN, it didn't work but after using Psiphon Pro VPN it works.
Please don't do this,
Deleting Google Service Framework data will do harm to you're device!

You are right.
With method of the OP it worked to upgrade to pie.
But as already forecasted in your post, push notifications stopped working properly after upgrading.
Workaround without factory resetting the whole ROM seems to be reinstalling the apps which need Google Cloud messaging services, to obtain a new ID. E.g. for WhatsApp, that worked for me.
So think twice if this trouble is worth to you.
Thanks to Midomad to this useful link.

Run this command in a root terminal then reboot and reopen the apps, no need to reinstall, though I still recommend a factory reset
find /data/data -name com.google.android.gms.appid.xml | xargs rm

Push notifications of what apps? On my phone i did twice (clear data from framework) and push notifications are working as they should be.
PS: U don't need to remove your google account to do the process. Wiping the apps do the trick.

No,i'm from the future!
This is valid no matter what Android version you are using!

Here is another recent thread from miui forum for last year's Mi A1.
If this not enough for you,you can make some search on google about clearing Google service framework data.
If, after all, you're still not convinced!
Do whatever you want, just be more polite answering users next time.

Thanks. But my A2 will be my first device which stays unrooted and locked.

For me in WhatsApp, the german weather app "WarnWetter" and Xing.
I'll observe if other issues come up and will then consider a factory reset.

It's true, you won't receive notifications from many apps like twitch, restoring backup from titanium backup has the same effect, but running the command above is enough to solve it

Since not everyone is rooted, and from my experience,a factory reset is the only safe solution available after resetting GSF data!
I think waiting for an OTA update, is easier than looking how to fix things on you're device.
