YouTube frame drops

Hi there,
I recently purchased a Nexus 4 following the price drop and generally speaking I'm very happy with it. I do however have one issue. When playing HD YouTube videos, there appear to be dropped frames every 5 seconds or so. This gives videos a somewhat jerky appearance and is particularly noticeable in clips involving slow panning. I did not expect this from a phone with a quad core processor. The video buffers fine and there is no apparent lag in other areas of the OS.
I am running stock Android 4.3. The phone is not rooted.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Quad core doesn't really have much to do with video playback smoothness. It may be thermal throttle. If the phone is getting hot, it might be lowering clock speed to keep the temperature safe. See if you get the same behavior on a cold morning, or with other video playing apps.

Thanks for responding. I've just tried the DailyMotion app and it is noticeably better. I'll also try YouTube tomorrow morning as per your suggestion. I do use a case with Perspex on the back. Could this affect heat dissipation?

Any case potentially could, though I use a pretty sturdy one and don't experience YouTube stutters. Are you running the latest YouTube version?

Yes I am. To be honest, the stuttering is pretty subtle but its one of those irritating things that you can't forget after you first see it.

I've noticed stutters on YouTube when the screen is tapped to bring up the buttons, when watching in HD.

Screen glitch?

Hey guys, recently the screen on my phone has been a little out of sorts
During random intervals, some or all sections of the screen will spike/jerk up and down. (sometimes it last for quite a few seconds)
Managed to capture it on video, look at the 0:04
Would appreciate if anyone know of this ongoing issue
You forgot to put some sound effects with the music lol
=/, anyways, bump for help

[Q] Is there a vibration absorber system for the Note 3 to be used as a Dash Cam?

I am starting to record my driving every time I get in the car. I'm just using the camera app but I might switch to a dedicated car dash cam app.
My friend was recently hit in the front of her car. It was totally the other guy's fault but he's claiming that she went into his lane, which is utter BS. Anyway, long story short, a lot of our friends are going to start recording our driving, esp since we all have 64gb micro SD cards anyway...may as well put that storage to good use!
I'm really happy with the results of the recorder except one major issue is that the video is really shaky even though I have it attached to a mount on the windshield.
Is there any way to dampen or absorb the vibrations of the car so the recording can be more clear?
Try the video stabilization in camera settings
I tried that, it makes no noticeable difference.

Thanks but that setting records video at 60fps. It doesn't have image stabilization.

I've considered doing this a number of times but the thought of using my phone as a cam while a nice dual use feature, it not really that practical. I am also afraid it would get damaged way too easily for that type of purpose when a second device which is desiged to do it will do it better, be a lot more rugged and capable.
I am getting a Drift Innovation HD Ghost for this purpose. They actually make a much less expensive one that does 720 which is more than enough for dash cam usage, but the HD Ghost has a DVR like mode which records over the same memory device automatically and easily saves an incident with the click of a button for later playback. Still a lot of money, but it would keep the phone being my phone and do a much better job at recording the vehicle in motion.
I tried it and 60fps makes no difference.

Recorded video scramble

This weekend the family and I were out doing some things and I took a few videos. As I replayed them back I noticed a few of them started to have these scrambled lines at the beginning. They cleaned up about 2 seconds into the video. Just wondering if anyone knows what might have caused this as the day before and nothing like this happened on any videos.

mine does the EXACT same thing. Prob a software bug. Hopefully an update comes soon for that.
It's a hardware issue with the camera, get it replaced. Saw this on reddit

Nougat Auto bright glitch?

My phones auto brightness is constantly going super bright or super dim. It's either too dark to see it or it burns your eye balls. I guess it's adjust more than before at least lol.
I have the same issue.
It gets so dim I can't read my screen sometimes and other times it is straight blinding.
I just turned auto off and put the slider in the notification panel.

Interesting.
My girlfriend's S7 Edge doesn't have that issue. But both of our phones are eating battery super fast.

I'm glad I have this brightness glitch and not the battery issue.

I started using Lux again and it works well. I seem to get a noticeably better battery life.
Do you have enabled or activated the video enhancer?
What this does it increases the screen to be super bright when using for video player, google play movies, you tube or Tmobile TV.
Located at settings, display, looking for something else: video enhancer, enable or disable
