Hi everyone, I bought since some weeks an EU honor7 16gb; I'm actually quite happy with this smartphone, solved the notification problems.....
....but here is my question, I'm coming from a Nexus 5 and I loved the savings battery function.....that practically keep the phone usable and save the battery when it is almost dry ....or as I was use to, a simple tool permit to activate it when I wanted, in case of long days using the smartphone out of possibilities to charge it.
Now, under the previous rom (b180 on lollipop) I tried to install the small app, in fact it worked turning on the stock Android battery saving...but after....no way to go out from it .....I had to restore
Is there any way to use the stock Android MM battery saving program on Emui ??
In detail, I'm disappointed with the Honor default battery saving policy...cause the battery saving make the smartphone not more than a brick on the desk able just of call and SMS :S
Thanks to everyone for the response
Some news....i wrote to the toogle developer....
....he told me that the toogle works under emui just cause the turning on function (and the stock battery saver function) is hidden but maintained as the stock Android version, but the switch off function doesn't work due to the missing on emui of the orange bar that on stock Android tell that the battery saving is on....
...seem that the toogle works on the virtual switch of that orange bar for the power off of battery saving function...
.....so at the end, the guy told me to try the pro version of the toogle that permit to hide the famous orange bar and work differently in the switch off .....
.....I will let you know

Any idea when is this going to happen? and if there are going to be any other additions/improvements?
They just said it will fix issues in the following days. But I would expect weeks.

Ironically...
Yep they told me almost the same weeks ago..."our team is working on"
....but who tried the 370 rom for China version...still seem to have the old pb :S
Anyway, what I was talking about care more a workaround to use the stock Android battery save function....
... I'm sure it won't be improved by huawei....
Some hope remain with emui 5 that seem that will be closer to Android stock...when it will be released...
never trust honor, they are surely without honor.

Hello all,
I just bought an S3 and updated it to 4.1.1 stock. I like this device but I am very disapointed by how buggy is the stock 4.1.1 ...
I currently own a Xoom running the stock 4.1.2 and never found a single bug using it for months.
I only use my S3 with stock 4.1.1 and already met multiple annoying bugs !
- if I set the Wifi to auto-disable when the S3 goes to the lock screen, then, when Wifi does re-enable, it connects well to the router but I cannot acess to internet. This bug does not exist on the S3 mini running stock 4.1.1.
- the S3 randomly reboot, it rebooted 3 times in about 12 hours.
- the email application has a display problem : the screen flashes black when I scroll an email.
- some apps crash with no reason : stock web browser, stock camera app ...
- the stock browser bookmarks preview is not available : all bookmarks are displayed with a grey icon instead of the web page preview.
- some features in the parameters menu has no effect, they just don't work even when activated : the feature which disables the screen when you're not watching it for exemple, there are some others which did not work but I can't remember which ones.
And as I am only using it for 24 hours I am afraid of discovering some more bugs soon ...
Am i the only one to meet these bugs ?
Is CM10 for S3 less buggy ?
Does anyone know when stock 4.2 should be available for the S3 ?
Thanks
i have 0 problems you mentioned.. try a reset and see if it solve. or just install a custom rom ( you can always return to stock in case of warranty's necessity)
Yes, I already tried to power off the S3. I don't want to use a custom ROM for now, I think for such a high level device I shouldn't have to. I can't understand why so many bugs could be found in less than 24 hours on a stock ROM, this is not serious from Samsung : they waited several months before releasing Jelly Bean for the S3 and finally the ROM is as buggy as an early custom ROM ...
This is a big dispointment for me.
no power off, but a wipe at factory reset
try it!
Settings---> backup and restore--->factory reset ( is the last in list, don't know how is written as i'm using italian language)
Suggest you have a problem and you return the phone either for exchange or refund .
- the S3 randomly reboot, it rebooted 3 times in about 12 hours.
>>> That suggests problem with the phone or an app its not normal behavior .
some apps crash with no reason : stock web browser, stock camera app
>> As above .
Twelve hours and you updated
OTA or Kies update or a self update ????
.. Any of those going wrong could give above symptoms .
Does anyone know when 4.2.1 should be available for the S3 ?
>>> No known date .
jje
I am using the stock 4.1.1 release so I just did the OTA update, everything went fine during the upgrade.
If I am the only one to meet these problems it may be due to hardware issues ... Too bad ...
Not seen any of those bugs at all on ICS nor on JB.
You need to do a complete factory reset.
I don't understand why I would need to do a factory reset : I am just using it for less than 24 hours ...
That's crazy if I already need to do this ... Loosing data and reinstalling everything ... Please, not yet !
I am more an more thinking of installing CM10 ROM, but it seems to have too many issues for now.
I wonder if I just shouldn't get my money back ...
I also suspect you got bad luck and received the only faulty device in store.
Been using mine constantly for 10 days on stock rom without any problems.
Earlier today, I could not wait for 4.1.2 any longer and flashed this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1944035
Been using it also without any problems.
No such problems for me, I expect there was a slight issue when you updated. I would just reflash via Odin and see if that fixes your problems.

because, maybe, in OTA process something is gone wrong ( like some datas of application not compatible or corrupted during the process)
Might want an exchange as you may have a faulty device..
Considering you're having that many problems in such a short period of time, I think you should return the phone and get a replacement. It's clearly a faulty device. If I were you, I wouldn't bother trying to reflash firmware for it or anything, I'd just go straight to wherever I bought it and demand a new one. Good luck with whatever you end up doing.
Never had a random reboot on my s3 running stock. It has happened running custom kernels but that's a different kettle of fish entirely.

So I finally decided to do a factory reset. All my reboots / Wifi problems are gone now. But I still need a more time to judge this as my problems came after a few hours of use. Thanks to all of you for your advices !
Still, the feature wich uses the front camera to power off the display if you don't watch it does not work at all ...
Dude, return it asap. Mine also did that the first week before totally failing and getting stuck in the inicial samsung logo without possible recovery. Very high chances of happening the same to yours. Plenty of "omfg my phone's totally dead" threads around to confirm this, don't be another one.

You mean smart stay. Yes, smart stay suffered a regression in JB. It was much better in ICS. Slightly better in XXELKC Poland official stock 4.1.2. You could try that out.

OK, so this one is a real bug. Not a big deal as I don't want to use it anyway (I was just curious to try it) because I guess leaving the front camera working may decrease battery life and performances.

No problems here, Factory reset (power off the phone, push the volume up + home + power button continuously)
Choose factory reset and you should be okay.
EDIT: Sorry, just noticed your latest comment.
Good to know it solved it.
EDIT2: Smartstay works here, wait for the next official update in our region (JB 4.1.2).
Hi all,
As at the moment I want to avoid rooting my handset - is there a way to get higher than android 5.0 on it?
I can't root as I use certain apps that simply won't function if they sense the handset is rooted (SkyGo).
I am a noob on this - so please take this into consideration. .

NO.
5.0 is the higher available there is for n9005
Does anyone have any info if they will officially made higher? If not I'm preparing to root my phone. So which ROM than to put up? Stable and fully working with note 3 (pen and such). Because current 5.0 is rubbish. I'm not reachable, Bluetooth not working as it should doesn't ring, some strange sound settings. 1 week working ok than battery drain in less than half a day. I took it to warranty repair, they reinstalled software (i think its some Samsung Global standard.). Took it the second time to get back the 4.4 which was working quite normally. Samsung policy is they don't downgrade it. Allso no money back for half working stuff.
I don't want to go back to 4.4 because 5 is really good looking.
If you root, you can also use Xposed Framework, which can use a module to hide the root existance to applications.
Hello!
I've jut got my yotaphone YD206 with CN rom, i flashed to EU rom. I love this phone.
My problem is the top half of the phone is really warm/hot. Is it normal ? I though its the CPU or the WIFI.
Any opinion ?

Lollipop is buggy, that does not help...

Lollipop is indeed buggy, and one of the most serious bugs is that the radios is allways ON even if the WiFi is set to be disabled when screen off, that makes the Lollipop battery suck. Actually there's lots of bugs in Lollipop and that's to blame Google, lately has been really lame, since KitKat at least. KitKat is way superior but unfortunately the EPD implementation on KitKat is subpar. Yota as it seems has the intention of releasing the Marshmallow version, and it's now on Beta, so let's finger cross and wait for the best.
People here over XDA forums also come to check informations so they can install the latest Firmwares, and sometimes they don't know there's several models of YotaPhone 2 basically distinction being the radio frequencies they can work, so it's important that you use your device correct radio when using other firmwares, for example my Phone is from HongKong and I use the /radio files from the latest HongKong firmware, no matter if I am installing a Russian or European firmware. The wrong radio makes your phone use more battery and lost connection.

Root and install No-frills CPU Control is your solution :good: More details here : https://youtu.be/vOiAMsxq578
I have had same problem with the phone heating up badly last weeks time, this is the Yotaphone 2 206 model kitkat 4.4.4 , not rooted or anything, just as out of the box, it would randomly heat up so bad that it would switch itself off and not turn on again until cooled down, it seemed to get better after turning off location service but that could be coincidene
Marshmallow ROM overall is working well, I advice anyone that is not happy with KitKat to run Marshmallow, Lollipop is a disaster. Just remember that if you have a YD206 you should use the China radio or a little better the Hybrid Baseband created by some users. About the battery time, KitKkat and Marshmallow are the best ones, Just keep in mind that location services and Wifi always scanning uses too much battery. If you know how to use Tasker, you can program it to use data services only each 20 minutes or so when screen is off, making it idle for each 20 minutes with no data connection will make you battery really last longer, then make a rule to auto turn data on when screen on, make a tasker to get wifi on when you are at home and to disable wifi when you are out, with tasker or similar app you can make pretty much everything possible!
I use this to stop wifi out of home.
Easy to use and no root required.
I had this Phone since September and never actually had a major problem with it. It was shipped to me with Android 7 . The first day i got it , i was setting everything up, installing apps ,etc. I think a week later , Android 8.1 Update popped up , I really don't like updating so i blocked the notification and everything was fine. Until Today that i realized the phone getting a tiny bit of lag , Overall uptime was about 1180Hours , So i decided to Restart. Which to my surprise updated the phone automatically to android 8.1.
I really DON'T like when Companies update your device without confirmation, I mean why do they really force the updates? (from when do they care about my device right?). Anyway , getting besides the point here, , I really wanted to ask if there is any way to force stop the firmware updates. I read that Android 9 Pie is getting close , and i really don't want to Update.
Is it possible to stop updates by rooting the device? In the end i was going to root my device soo,
(You can say whatever you want , but , Me as an 8 year android user (I had android 2 , 4,5 and now 7-8) I have to say , Every version makes it worse for the freedom of the user. Android 4(ICS and 5 - Lollipop) was the best
You can do it without rooting your device, Go to Developer options and untick Automatic system updates.

Dont revert to 7, its really not worth it. Oreo is in my opinion much more stable, used it all the time and nothing lagged or happened. I also recommend updating to Pie. Trust me or not but Pie is the smoothest and fastest version of Android I've ever had on this phone comparing to the Nougat and Oreo - animations and apps switching is much faster and fluent, same is overal performance of the phone.

Yes, you can. Try it, if you don't like it then download MI A1's Nougat rom and flash it with mi flash tool, if you never did it before, see some YouTube video tutorial before doing that and also keep backup of your necessary files from the phone.
do a clean flash of ocotber/november rom, i bet your lag is because you updated too many time without a clean flash.

After some hours of using the phone with oreo , i've seen somehow better performance mostly on the ui but not on the apps. Messenger App Seemed to Lag a bit as well as the live view from the camera app. (When i say lag it's fine just not that smooth). I will run the phone for a while like this without changing anything . I'll maybe consider trying Pie after a while ,if it'll get a stable release on the phone.
Thanks for the recommendation :good:
Nougat (version 7) has several advantages - the spiritfm radio app works, can block network access per app using stock settings (no need for vpn/root etc), headphone volume is loud and can support high impedance headphones.
If you update to Pie on this device, you cannot flash earlier rom versions without problems according to Xiaomi.
Hi,
I've been using a native android OS for years (nexus phones and the last one Oneplus 3). Recently I bought Xiaomi Mi 9T, thinking it would be similar to Oneplus 7 Pro and Im having a bad experience using it.
I cant understand why they remove useful things that Google developed to make a better user experience.
For exemple:
Notificacions are awful in MIUI.
In lockscreen I cant expand them
When the display is unlock and I got a notificacion I cant expand the notification and read it directly, I have to wait or hide the notificacion (swiping up) and then swipe down to be able to expand it and read it.....
Audio Output
In my old phone I could have different devices connected via bluetooth, for exemple, an earpods, and if I wanted to show something to a friend I could change the output sound, and choose phone speakers, however I cant do it with MUIU, I have to disconnect the device to use the speakers..... WTF
I also dont like to have all apps in the screen, however I solved that with Nova Launcher.
Anyone know how to solve the previous problems? I would love to have Oxygen OS in this phone. It would be perfect. Thanks
Unlock your bootloader and flash any of the custom ROMs available right now! (Paranoid Android beta or Mokee rom(linneage base) there is also a OxygenOS GSI (treble) I wouldn't recommend that but you can give it a shot
Yeah, TWO problems are ruining android. Lol
I'm coming from a Samsung Galaxy S7 and I agree with OP. One week using the Mi 9T and the struggle is real. Notifications are really messed up in MIUI. The auto brightness doesn't work right and sometimes when I manually change brightness the slider is not updated accordingly as I increase it. Also, the sound controls are just terrible. It's not, or at least it doesn't feel like, a polished UI/UX.
Haters gonna hate. Now imagine that if you would do any tampering with the OS you would lose the warrantee... BUT Xiaomi is so generous that they even provide a bootloader unlock function for us, unlike Samsung and Apple. They would take away your freedom of development if you would wander off their closed systems, so enjoy flashing and stuff. And I would highly suggest waiting for MIUI 11 it arrives in the coming days. Miui has been the longest player in the android skin game and the first and foremost product of xiaomi.

you mean like on Samsung you don't have use stupid accounts and give them your info just to be able to unlock the bootloader? the fact MIUI was one of the first skinned ROMs back in froyo means nothing, it's like saying Chrysler used to make great cars 40 years ago and therefore they MUST be considered great today, no matter the fact they are pure ****e.
i sell my mi9t and i order OP7Pro, and i hope i will not regret.
first if you unlock bootloader, and to root and. magisk, you have to partitions, so anytime you want something with twrp you have to do everything from begin, and there is also one problem with OP7Pro were phone shut down by himself, power button doesnt help, just if you boot in fastboot mode power on and vol+ in same time helps.
so dont know if OP is really such good user experience, same as stock android, never have seen such poor os as stock android.
Everything on my Mi 9T works well except notifications. Unlike other people I get a lot of it. On every notification the screen turns on even in silent mode. And I can't seem to turn off group notifications for whatsapp, I turn them off and after 2 minutes they turn back on again. Other than this the phone is great.
So the only problem I have with notifications is that they are not arriving while the phone is in deep sleep mode, and that's because miui kills internet connection - I get that they are trying to save battery that way but it just doesn't make sense to me to not be able to receive notifications while your phone is sitting idle. From what I've seen miui 9 and below had an option in settings>battery&performance to disable sleep mode - is there any way to do that on miui 10?

In developer options, there is an option all the way down, "MIUI optimization" something like that that is on by default. You can turn that off.
You can also go to app settings and turn off battery optimization for the apps you care about like instant messaging, mail etc.
