New official update "CRC1" spotted on EU G1s

Hello everybody,
seems like Google is rolling out another update on Android 1.5. The new version number is CRC1 and the update.zip has a size of only 2 MB. There is no further info on the changes in the update notification than it being a security update.
Here is a translated version of the original source:
http://www.translate.google.de/tran...-crc1.html&sl=de&tl=en&history_state0=&swap=1
Download link is now available:
http://android.clients.google.com/updates/signed-kila_eu-CRC1-from-CRB43-FIX2.1c36f92b.zip
I think this may be the one I recieved the other night. It killed my root access. I had to reflash Harry_m's kernel to get root back.

[Q]FOTA wont appear

hello fellow xda people,
I have recieved an asus transformer build US 8.2.2.6.1 running on android 3.0.1
now i know that the device in fact has a 3.1 update yet one wont show up.
i looked ar the sticky thread about the fota and didnt find an answer.
now , i read somewhere that asus'es 3.1 (stock that is) tends to brick some devices and therfore
asus wont push it to devices via fota. is that true? any idea why i get no update? and is updating manually with an oficcial update from asuses website safe (device and warranty vise)?
t.i.a guys
in the general section of the fota sticky there are links to download the 3.1 firmware from asus. I think some people have had issues, but I can't see it being available for download if there were universal issues. You just need to make sure that download the right firmware for your version (us/ww/tw) - it is all expained in the initial post of the fota sticky.

Need help -- Should I Root or OTA update first?

hello everyone,
I have a Galaxy S4 sgh-i1337M with Fido in CAanda. I would like to Root and enjoy my phone as it should be.
Before doing anything, I checked for software update on the phone in settings, and there is one that is 100.01 MB. Looking up that size, I think it has something to do with this number (my modem version??):
I337MUMUFNK1 -- which comes up when I search google for an update of that size which is OTA and for my phone.
Samsung and Fido and Google say to call the 'others' as they do not know what this update is for. WTF! Nobody knows what the update is for??
------------------------------------------
My phone info:
I am on 4.4.2
SGH-I337M locked to Fido in Canada
BASEBAND: I337MVLUFNE1
KERNEL VERSION: 3.4.0-1529758
[email protected] #1
BUILD: KOT49H.I337MVLUFNE1
------------------------------------------
The baseband seems to be what the update will modify??? (ignore this if its dumb)
MY QUESTION:
Should I root the way it is now and disregard the latest update?
Should I update the phone now, as I won't be able to receive OTA updates in the future and then Root? (I know I can always do whatever I want after rooting.....
it would still make sense to do this update now, then root as its just easier that way).
Thank you in advance to everyone who knows the answer to this and responds!

New Nexus 4 user: OTA/updates questions

Hello Nexus 4 users,
I recently switched over to the Nexus 4, which belonged to my wife previously, and want to update all the latest OTAs before I start flashing.
The nexus 4 was successfully rooted with Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit awhile back, perhaps a year ago.
I want to know how to determine which OTA I currently have on the phone. Then ,if I am not on the newest update, how do you go about? Is LMY47V or LMY48I the newest? How do you find out what update the phone is on?
Also, please tell me your tips and the simplest way to install the update. I'm not very good with scripts and commands but an excellent flasher
Thank you in advance
Settings -> About Phone -> Build Number
Android versions: https: // developers . google . com /android/nexus/images?hl=en (but these are not OTA versions, to get those search for OTA download <build number> -- usually android police or another site will have a link to the OTA image).
Not sure about LMY47V or LMY48I. =( Educated guess that the last one in the list fixes stagefright so that's why it's still 5.1.1.

p.s. These sites need whitelisting of URLs... (for new accounts -- it's kind of stupid to restrict it if it's not a SPAM bot).
Just to add, OTA updates will fail since you've rooted your phone! You must be completely stock for OTAs to work.
So will all the updates be integrated in to the ROM I flash? Thus unnecessary to update OTA?
First, 48I is the newest and does patch stagefright. OTAs will not work on a rooted phone or one with any system files changed. If your bootloader is unlocked the easiest way to upgrade is to flash the system and boot images from 48i with fastboot. [HELP] need answers to some questions about updating

I just bought ZE550KL, have not added any account yet, bootloader at default. I want to install latest Android M official Asus update.
Asus website has the Android M firmware which is about 1.5 GB. The second step says Download device software and Update SOP (From “Manual” Item). What does this mean?
It's mentioned that Multi-user function won't be supported if the account is deleted. Please keep your account to continue usage. Is it talking about general user account or Google account?
According to above statement, after updating I can't add a new user, right?
I have not added any account yet. What will happen if I install the above firmware update now?
There is a OTA update link on XDA's index page: http://fota.asus.com/delta_package/...615_20160517-user-WW_Z00L-20160606/update.zip which is about 1GB. What is the difference between an OTA update and firmware update. I know that the 1.5GB firmware update is the latest one, but why the OTA is smaller?
