Initial releases almost ALWAYS flesh out some build issues that quickly get fixed (even Apples, but not so often), so hopefully the title says it all. Since we already have seen a few issues with the initial builds, such as camera sensor quality, case gaps, dead pixels, etc., maybe this thread will be a good place to keep watch on the progress of the HTC One issues being remedied, as many of us wait for HTC to perfect the One before we make our order. We don't want to get stuck with hardware issues that may be quickly remedied after initial release.
So you early adopters can help the lurking masses who are anxiously waiting for the right time to buy. Once we have a lot of people reporting what is or isn't good, we can then get an idea of when issues are not really issues anymore.
Please list any hardware issues you have noticed (software too, but no so important since software can be fixed after purchase), and/or list any fixes to these issues or opinions on whether these have become non-issues, so that many of us who are waiting can check the problems off our lists. If there are ways of identifying which hardware versions have the problems vs. which ones do not, that would be great info for this thread as well so that we can check a device in the store or quickly return a device before committing to a purchase.
Hardware issues:
-- Camera sensor yielding image issues such as mis-focus and/or color banding in a small percentage of units, partly due to a HUGE number of image sensor being rejected and causing initial release delays.
-- Gaps is the seams of the case materials such that the unibody design doesn't seem so smooth and seamless.
-- Stuck display pixels or observable differences in displays on a small percentage of sold units, possibly due to HTC using more than a single screen manufacturer.
-- Is black anodize hard enough that resistance to scratching and chipping is on par with other brands out there?
-- Signal reception issues
Software/driver issues:
-- GPU tests not scoring as expected, in comparison to similar phones currently coming out.
-- Volume level adjustability more granular in the low volume end.
-- Capacitive buttons not responding when they should.
-- Battery Drain issues
-- Acceptable menu button solution / HTC logo touch digitizer mapped to become a button (not necessary, but would love to see developers make this happen!)

I'll start it off. So far hardware issues to look out for:
- Camera sensor yielding image issues such as mis-focus and/or color banding in a small percentage of units, partly due to a HUGE number of image sensor being rejected and causing initial release delays.
- Gaps is the seams of the case materials such that the unibody design doesn't seem so smooth and seamless.

- Is black anodize hard enough that resistance to scratching and chipping is on par with other brands out there?

- GPU not testing where expected, in comparison to similar phones currently coming out.
- Volume level adjustability more granular in the low volume end.

The sometimes-not responding capacitive buttons which are most likely a software issue.
Also:
-Fix the color temperature of the screen, it's too much on the cooler side
-Fix the audio hissing in some 1080p videos made in a quiet environment
-Sense drains too much battery in stand-by
-Improve 4G/LTE signal reception
-'msm_hsic_host' wake lock keeps the phone awake on stand-by and drains battery

If it is you touching it with your ear, then that is still a problem, as the proximity sensor should sense that the phone is close to your head and then shutdown the screen and touch sensor input so that touching the screen does nothing.
Maybe u could add links for each of the problems to related threads so users can get more info?

I just checked out the one at a nearby at&t store. I had such a hard time with the capacitve buttons that I am reconsidering the phone. Not once did I get them to work on my first touch. Extremely disappointed. Hoping it was that one model in that store. Will check out another store. Also looking at xperia zl as an alternative now. So disappointed though as it was pretty awesome looking and extremely light.

My biggest issue with the lack of menu button is that I've always used it to quickly pull up the address bar on my browser. If you gently scroll up or down on the browser it will pull it up, but it doesn't always work very well. That is what I would like to see a solution to, first and foremost.
The home and back buttons are not very sensitive and don't always react on my first attempt. Also the battery is draining extremely quick. I'm losing 12% per hour.

Care to share the light on this? A link or instructions?
I don't quite remember where I read it... I've been stalking these forums for a while because I really want the phone... If you play around in your settings, somewhere there's an option to adjust/calibrate the sensitivity. Then, if you just very lightly touch the buttons, it will calibrate to that sensitivity and then fixed!

So I went and checked it out at another store and there was no problem with sensitivity. It had a weird problem where home would just bring up whatever screen you are on. Must be particular to that phone. Either way the sensitivity of the buttons was totally fine which was the main issue.
Also liked at xperia zl which is a fine phone in its own right but it just does not compare to the one. Although it does have one advantage which is that it is much easier to hack and get aosp and also get klp when it comes out.

Solution to irresponsive back/home key
Case pitted
Got my 64bg on the 19th via mail direct order ATT. Top of aluminum case near power button front side chamfered edge had 2 pitted dents. Put back in box and immediately went to ATT store to return for new order replacement. I also noticed some rough finish in edges of aluminum casing where it meets plastic fill. Not at the level of my Iphone 5 fit and finish. Will see what replacement looks like in the next few days once received.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels the need to stab the hell out of the capacitive buttons when it comes time to go "home" or "back."
One of the few things that has agitated me about this phone is the effort required to press the back and home buttons. I actually began wondering if they were pressure-sensitive or something. After all, my Note 2 would often register inadvertent presses of the back and menu capacitive buttons because they were so sensitive. With the Nexus 4, the buttons are responsive, if not hypersensitive.
I have just set my calibration and the home /back buttons are immediately more sensitive.

Consensus is: yes, the hardware might support it, while software currently does not.
The sensor array likely completely covers a rectangular area but the coded area does not include the logo area. This might be hackable at the kernel layer.
I've had my Moto X for around 8 months now and I'm nothing but pleased with it, apart from it's now going back to Motorola for repair.
Day to day I generally check my phone a few times an hour and maybe have an hour or 2 of constant usage each day, all with the brightness set to the middle. Despite this, I've got major screen burn in along the top and bottom. If I put my phone on any white screen I can clearly see Priority Mode, Wifi, Network, Battery and Alarm symbols along the top, and a triangle / circle / square along the bottom.
Has anyone else had this issue with there screens or do you think it's just a one in a million chance sort of problem? The moto support team have been pretty good, although they've sent me 2 RMA numbers now that expire in 5 days, despite saying I want one where I can send it back at the start of September (it being early-mid august now).
I've also noticed battery issues with the phone, in that the sensor isn't reporting the real battery percentage correctly. For example 20% generally means I've got about 10% left, and 10% usually means about 2%...
How is everyone else finding there Moto X's after almost a year? Any issues like this cropping up or has it been smooth sailing?

Hi
I've had my moto X for only 4 month.
On the 3rd month, I already had burn in on the navigation bar. Now, I have on both navigation and status bar, it's very visible on my device. Actually, I've contacted motorola and they told me to send it back and that they would repair it, but I doubt they'll change the whole amoled screen.
I think they're just gonna send it back, so I'm just gonna deal with it I think. It's sad, because now I can't unlock my bootloader untill I send it back, so I can't root and flash roms.
Anyways, good luck with yours bud!
I have the same screen burn problems even though screen timeout is 30 seconds. Did not notice the battery issue you mentioned.

the only problem is it last 1s only not giving enough time to swipe.......maybe I have a faulty device

Well, there are so many phone out there, why chose a phone that does not suit me?
Did you have a Moto X 2nd gen? You know how comfortable was to just hover your hand when it was lying in order to check either time or if you have a message?
Now you have to click the side button or is there another way?

I've just bought a Moto X Play, and it did take an hour or so to get used to the swipe-the-dot to unlock it, that's because I was swiping in the wrong direction lol.
But seriously, just pick the phone up or pull it out of your pocket to check or swipe.
anyway, i dont know why it seems so weird?
The sensors are so usefull and comfortable and phones get continiously improved, that i am very surprised about it.
If all improvements were neglected and seemed strange, i would have stayed on my Sony Ericsson P900...
On my Moto G Lte and Moto X Play using Gravity Screen with only proximity sensor uses here on both phones only 0,2-0,3% a charge according to Gsam. Other options in that app like movement use a lot more battery so have that disabled in that app.
Now screen off: put device face down on table, etc. Or put in pocket or bag.
Screen on: pick faced down device up. Pull out of pocket/bag. Or wave over proximity sensor next to top speaker grill on the right.
As extra screen off without using power button I have set: slide up home button=Greenify+lock screen. Double tap home screen and/or status bar with Apex or Nova launcher. A sleep button in Quick Setting and Power Tools.
Moto's lighting up Active Display was also far to short for me. But more irritating was the so often unneeded lighting up of display and keeping device awake according to Wakelock Detector. When device in bag or pocket while walking or driving. Putting glass on table. Moving leg in bed. Even when heavy trucks drive trough the street where I work.
So now using Moto Ambient display. Only lighting up screen after missed call or text. Idle drain is now less than wirh Active Display.

I am waiting for my Moto Play...
If i dont like it in the first month i will just return it! Let's see.
Received my Moto X yesterday. First impression compared to my Moto X 2014, is that Play does not have the character and style of 2014 model.. And with no wave to wake or double tap, I feel that I went years back, in a negative way... At the current levels of mobiles phones, if you dont put the two above at least put a fingerprint sensor.
I will test it for 10 more days, but first feelings are negative. On the positive side is the wonderful camera!

Hi, I am really confused. I have read that Moto G4 Plus is suffering from various issues like heating too much while turbo charging, ghost touch , display problem and even some hardware problems with in one week of buying, especially from Indian users. So If some out there has moto g4 plus and using it, it would really helpful if he/she could share the experience and suggest that should I buy it or there is some better alternative for the same price range.
Thank You.
I have ordered the phone but I have the option to cancel it. so Please help me out.

I don't think the phone suffers from any serious issues. Sure, ghost touch is an issue. But you can avoid it in two ways:
1) Avoid using it when charging. It is manageable, given it has QuickCharge and charges fast.
2) Using a 5.2V 1.35A Asus adapter, I rarely have the problem. Try a similar adapter.
As far as heating is concerned, there is a difference between the phone getting warm, and it being a frying pan. With my usage pattern (constant internet use, occasional photography), it does not heat up uncomfortably. Maybe so when I use it when plugged in the TurboPower adapter, but the previous solutions are applicable here too.
Apart from these, my display does not suffer from any issues that I noticed. NONE. Same can be said about the remaining hardware.
I don't know if later batches of the phone have any issues (I got one from the earliest batches).
One issue (more like a S/W bug) is when occasionally, touching the fingerprint sensor does not unlock the phone. If I wave my hand over the proximity sensor (or just touch it once), the fingerprint sensor works fine. It is most probably due to a bug in the part of the S/W which prevents the fingerprint sensor working when inside your pocket.
It may be fixed in any future updates.
To sum up, I am very satisfied with the hardware. I understand others may disagree, but it's my opinion.

A. The main issue is of display(cheap quality). Try using blue screen filter (6-9% works).
B. Buy new glasses frm Amazon or other sites, they range frm 149-349. Buy any n replace it at home or tell repairer to do.

I think you missed my first ques, that "blue light fix" i suppose is for the "scree burn/retention" issue which isn't there on my device. I might be wrong

There's no fix for ghost touches. Try using an earthed charger (or turbo charger equivalent that's earthed).

Not necessarily, the ghost touching issue only happen on devices with a screen made by BOE, in my case it happens everytime that i connect my device to a PC (but it never happened while charging on a wall charger, turbo or not turbo).
This can not be fixed, or at least not by the simple way, i think this issue is caused by a bad electronic insulation. Something identical occurs on the Google Nexus 4, i had to disassembly it and isolate the digitalizer connector (this N4 never failed again with ghost touches).
This is a HARDWARE issue.
If you have the screen made by LGD you will have not this issue, but probably you will get the image retention (ghosting), bad called "screen burn", anyway it can be simply corrected by adjusting RGB values.
You can check which type of screen you have with THIS APP.
The scratches of the camera glass lens can be eliminated by putting a small water drop on it, and then, a little bit of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate), with an ear swab polish the glass until the oleophobic coating totally disappears (the coating is what is really scratched, not the glass, deep scratches can not be removed).
Others do use rubbing compound or toothpaste to remove it (i did not test this methods).

Sorry for the delay, i was not at home.
In the LGD screen you can find the "screen burn" issue, but it is not really a burn, because it's an IPS-LCD panel, this type of screen does not suffer of screen burning due to his nature of being a liquid crystal display, not the same occurs in an AMOLED display, this type of technology is prone to get real burns (something "normal" in various panels used by Samsung and Motorola in the past).
In summary, if you someday get the image retention issue in your LGD screen, you can easily solve this by changing the RGB values (totally via software).
I have the BOE screen, it never caused me major issues, just the mentioned that when i plug my phone to a PC the touchscreen becomes crazy/erratic, but i never plug my device to a PC, except, when i have to enter fastboot commands, so in my case it's not big deal, and i can perfectly live with it, besides i am very satisfied with the image quality. I had a LG Nexus 5x before this G4+, and this panel is actually better, with more vivid and accurate colours, in my opinion.
So, the BOE screen definitively has a hardware issue, and this can not be solved without voiding warranty (you probably have to disassemble the entire phone, and insulate electronic components correctly or make a grounding point). The LGD screen is just bad calibrated, nothing more apparently, and this can be solved via software.
Hardware issue.

Maybe a visit to service center is the best choice. However they only do a factory reset in most cases.
