Short Summary: Install "Busybox on Rails" followed by "Layers Manager" then install the theme of your choice.
Cool stuff. I just wish the theme I had on CM12.1 was available to use on this, but oh well. I still got a theme that I used in the past to work and it worked magnificently.

Really? I think I'm having an issue with something...I downloaded a few themes and applied them but then it still shows all of them as unapplied. I checked permissions and it has access to storage,,,for the moment has me stumped...I thought it was an issue with our version of supersu since it's not in system....what version are you using and which theme did you try?
Yeah, I tried this as soon as I installed 6.0, but after I applied and rebooted nothing happened. Did you actually manage to get it to work? I read that BusyBox has to be installed under /system/xbin. But maybe we have to install it under su/xbin? Not sure. If anyone managed to get it to work please explain

@kingoftheafro says he got it working. I'm waiting for him to tell us what version of supersu he was on and what theme he tried. I'm not sure if the themes I tried are incompatible. If you installed "busybox on the rails" which is the version recommended to use the layers manager then it DOES install it to /system/xbin. I just uninstalled layers manager and reinstalled it to see if it was a permission issue of some kind.
It works quite well for me. No selinux changer used.

Yeah, I managed to make it work, but I had to restore the original back up first, then first thing I did was flash SuperSU, install BusyBox and layers manager and it worked. I don't know why, but starting from scratch worked
So...can anyone say which theme worked for them?
I tried applying Prime(just Settings,SystemUI and framework),and after a reboot my screen was constantly black.

Which rom did you using...STOCK MM OR SPB 1..3
I perosnally tested on SPB 1.3 busybox is included in the rom so i downloaded only layers manager and i try it with navigate theme for keys.....Works good thanks @famewolf
Navbar layers work, timber wolf, dark stock elixium and inversion pro.
But I would not recommend applying more than 3-4 since UI become sluggish..

Working perfectly with SuperSU 2.7.4-2 Beta. Tested 6-7 themes and all worked without problem.
Currently rocking MONO and it's awesome.

So, basically every theme I tried have worked so far, now I am using Inversion UI + Dark Material + Magpie + Navigate (for nav bar) + Vivid (For quick settings colors). But I tried a ton of others aswell and none produced any bootloop or mayor issue, I just didn't quite like them.

You have to make sure and reboot the phone once the theme is applied or it won't show. The popup for reboot only shows for a fraction of a second so it took a few times to figure what was going on.

When you apply a theme and it refreshes are the boxes all still checked or does it revert to them being unchecked? You can always reboot manually after it disappears.

When I installed a theme it would give me a popup to reboot and all the boxes would go unchecked after that, but once reboot was done the boxes would be checked in.
Prime works but some of the options won't apply. Still got settings, nav bar, quick settings and some apps themed with prime.

Someone knows of a method to hide an unthemed setting? For example "Gestures" in the screenshot above. I wish we could hide them so the theme looks consistent.

Flash via recovery and
Use them out of any warranty and at your own risk!
Important Notes
- Nandroid Backup first
- always download Original-Battery zip too (if something went wrong)
If you want to use Center_Clock mods:
- flash Center-Clock zip (e.g. ICS_Center_Clock_v1)
- reboot
- after reboot the icons in the statusbar will not appear
- open an application which will set an icon to the left corner of your statusbar .e.g. Airdroid or Terminal Emulator
- voila, your statusbar is back
- the icons will also appear when you receive a message
- you have to do this after each reboot, or when you restore a nandroid backup included Center-Clock_mod
... this way it works.
Right now I don't know how to fix this issue.

Sorry for that matt!
I used framework_res.apk and System.apk for decompile/compiling from my tiny_ics Version.
And this is just a stripped down Sandvold 0.2.1 build without any modificition on this two files.
The pictures above are screenshots from my device. I've tested every single flash file to be sure that they are working.
Maybe someone else with Sandvolds Rom can report back if he have the same issue...

And yeah I know the files in question are exactly the same, so it's really strange. I also run a modded version of sandvold (personal build) but I do not touch those 2 files - so shouldn't cause any issues.
Also - just a heads up - your images don't show for me, i don't think the host you've used doesnt allow embedding in other webpages or you're over the bandwidth limit or something. You probably don't see it because the images are cached on your computer.

How can a battery mod make the SystemUI.apk smaller?

Dunno why, but it's working!
FYI, I have sandvold's 0.2.1 installed, but custom-stripped to fit data++ hboot.
Besides, I found the download links just fine with Chrome.
Maybe you could post a quick tutorial somewhere how you did it?!?
Great job KuliX!
I am running 0.2.1 Sandvold's ICS rom. It is not stripped or modded version. I flashed V2 in recovery and only wiped cache. The battery percentage is showing perfectly.
Also, there is no problems with the pictures in the first post.

I'll try again but this time flash rom>boot and setup>reboot, wipe cache and flash mods and then see what happens. I'll report back tomorrow.

I'll try the centre clock ones later too, see if that works at all....

Hrm, really weird then.... I was thinking that certain recoveries were somehow having issues with it, but that's not it. I'm using 4EXT touch as well and it doesn't work for me. Given we all run the same rom, same hboot, same phone, etc etc i don't get how it doesn't work for some of us.

I also use 4ext. Flashed the 8 different mods around 10 times directly from the build in option in 4ext-app. Without wiping anything. Without any problems.
I really like to know what the problem causes.
Again, sorry for that guys!
Do you love the stripped down or stock based roms but miss the theming ability of CM? Yea, there is the xTheme Engine, but with limited options (they have to be converted or built for xTheme) and so-so support for 4.4 at the moment, this isn't necessarily the best option. Enter: Cydia Substrate and Winterboard. If you are know about iOS and jailbreaking, likely these sound familiar. Install Substrate : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.saurik.substrate then open, link files, then reboot. Then install Winterboard and your favorite CM10 theme(s), select in Winterboard : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.saurik.winterboard and reboot the SystemUI or reboot and enjoy! IF you are having issues getting Cydia Substrate to link, then make sure you open /system in a root file manager and grant it R/W access and try again. I also had luck with getting it to work after installing Xposed (they do work kind of similarly - and for some roms, I had to set R/W as well). Now, this allows you to run any CM10/11 theme, though CM10.x themes will not touch the battery icon, unfortunately. I got this to work on roms like Cataclysm and Mahdi and suspect it should work on about any rom as long as you have working root, /system as R/W and the linked files sticks. If you need more detail, lemme know and I'll see if I can point you in the right direction.
This sounds awesome!

Hmm. You're just on the stock rom? Did you get an error of some sort? Hardly any of the themes have been updated to Kit Kat. This works with CM 10 themes.
I'm on cataclysm and keep getting the same error where it says IRS installed but not activated please reboot then after the reboot it says the same thing and I can't view the gallery

I believe that is because it has a difficult time creating the app_process type file. Did you try and make sure the /system is mounted read/write with a file explorer with root access like Root Explorer or Es File Explorer? Try that and install the Xposed beta framework too. If that doesn't work, I'll flash it and see what's up. I'm on DroidKang right now and it won't work, but it has the Theme Chooser already so doesn't matter.
Please do a step by step guide to use these apps

Awesome working great on cataclysm.
Hey!
I tested it and it won't change anything for me....
First I couldn't link it, but after installing xposed etc, this worked.
I also see and can select the theme(s) in winterboard.
But nothing happens...
Any advice?
PS: I'm also on Cataclysm Rom.
CHEERS!
UPDATE:
It seems like it was theme related. I tested another and this changed some things (even not all).
I didn't check all posts here before as I tried exactly the same as mentioned in second post
I'll test a bit more now and maybe I'll find a good one.
Thanks!

Can anyone get the Swype keyboard to actually be themed using XTheme? Doesn't seem to work for me, just the rest of the app is themed but the normal classic theme just comes out when I choose the Infinitum version from the list when I actually try to type.

Using Sai's Oreo theme. Don't install Playstore version. Grab an APK from his Telegram support chat.

Couldn't agree more. The need to use dark wallpapers just to get rid of the white was driving me nuts, plus it is very inconsistent in how it reads "dark" vs. "light".
The theme I'm using "flux" still has a few quirks when it comes to the android system theming, but overall no major issues!
I'm using flux but can't get the systemui to theme...is this the quirk you were talking about?

A lot of themes need to be updated to work on P.. Especially System UI part has changed a lot.
Sai's theme is updated to work with P. There are few minor parts that are not getting themes properly. That's why it's not updated on play store. But the theme is nice though.

Yeah notifications stay white, and the qs icons get coloured oddly (when toggled they are a solid colour), otherwise it seems to be working fairly well for me. Sai's theme is nice but I like a pure black theme instead of just dark, plus I like the very vivid colours of flux. I may switch though.

Search Sai's Oreo theme on play store. There is a theme support link in the description. Unfortunately I can't copy the link to the telegram channel.
I use Compound theme for System and System UI and Swift Black for theming the apps.

Hey thanks. I didn't know Compound could work on P. I've been using Sai's theme.
I've used PitchBlack for the apps.
I don't know what's going on, I still can't get any theme to stick. Just tried Sai's theme. After I Build & Enable, I go to the Manager and it says No Overlays Installed. I've rebooted and everything.

You're suppose to install and enable.. reboot. Enable all under theme manager. Reboot once more.
Anyone have trouble with some google apps not working after overlays are enabled for an hour or more? My play store, and Gmail fc every time after an overlay is enabled for a short time. Then in order to get it to open again(an app) I have to uninstall updates and it works. I hate temporary fixes so and advice would be great. Running july P beta, rooted magisk 16.6, and running compound substratum..

Happens with Play store and Google maps. I use Swift dark for those
On the Pixel the 999 build wouldn't work...download the 998 beta and installed and it worked. Same with this phone on Android P Beta.
Guys - Slightly off topic, but just sharing my learnings from my mistakes. I was playing mix and match on my UNrooted, Bootloader Locked Oreo 8.1 Essential when Substratum bootlooped and killed me! There was no way to recover from this (the best that I can understand), without an authenticated ADB or an unlocked bootloader to install TWRP to flash the rescue zip.
Please correct me if I am wrong, otherwise, let's please share with other users. Thanks!

Factory reset from recovery or a fastboot -w from bootloader
For those who got no overlays installed even tho overlays are built and phone rebooted, disable all magisk modules first, build overlays, reboot, enable overlays, enable modules, reboot ?
Every time I restart my phone, the driver processing gets disabled. The only way to bring it back is to reflash in Magisk. Any thought?

Having the same issue here, rather than on reboot (as thats what fixes it for me) it will just randomly stop processing when nothing is playing.
It's a common problem with viper for awhile now. If you just hit the menu at the top right and exit the app then re open it should start processing again.

You must have Busybox installed and install the last version of Viper, in this version they have fixed the not processing audio problem on andorid Pie.
I've solved this problem only in this way.
P.S. Be careful not to install the drivers from the app otherwise you risk a bootloop.

I have BusyBox installed. Is the latest Viper the one in Magisk? That's what I have installed.

Ok, I've removed the Magisk version and installed v2.6.0.6. How do I installed the drivers?

I've installed drivers Straight from the app, but I went into bootloop...You should try to install the 2.6.0.6 app as an update above the magisk version, i must install the new apk.
In this way you should keep the drivers already installed (they are the same) but have the new version that works.
I haven't tried yet since after the bootloop has However retained the drivers ...
Sorry for my bad English ?
Where did you find 2.6.0.6? It's not in the Magisk repo.

Thank you!
Edit: It won't let me install 2.6.0.6 as an update. Probably as V4A is installed as a system app. Do I need to change that?

Probably can't. I assume they're signed with different keys so you can't do an update.
I just used the app. It's installed as a user app and I just minimize the notification.
Maybe the user who said they installed it over the magisk version can say what they did.
If you can't install it like an update, you must install the APK over magisk, like a normal APK, then after install the raccomanded driver inside the app.
unfortunately he sent me to bootloop with this procedure (just one case probably), so I do not feel like taking responsibility in case of bootloop.
Make a backup of your data before :')

Okay, I just installed as a user app. It worked fine until the first reboot. Now it does not do anything anymore. Any idea?
Ok, I have a strange thing happening. When I connect to my car via Bluetooth, the v4a settings that I have enabled for "speaker" are the ones that get applied to the Bluetooth output. Not the settings enabled in "Bluetooth".

You must open the app, when you see the notification in the notification bar of Viper, it means that it works and Is processing
I have been trying to get this to work and have been unsuccessful. The steps i followed was downloading the latest one from the telegram group listed above and installing it just as a user app. But it just says not processing for me. Any help would be appreciated. I am on the latest version of the OS by the way.
Edit: It randomly just started working in the middle of me listening to songs.

I'm having intermittent issues with it also. Sometimes it'll work, sometimes not. Then, other times, it'll apply the speaker settings to Bluetooth or vice versa.

Cant get it to stick also
It really sucks because when it was on it was amazing.
Just rooted my 6t and installed this module for viper and it works like a charm. Made specifically for the 6, but works great on the 6t. No AML or anything else needed. All credit goes to Mentalmuso for the mod.
Select WETA_OOS_PieBeta_v4a2.5.0.5.zip

Also his dual speakermod works great with it as well.
