Where is ota installed on our phones? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm on dev preview npd35k and I just downloaded the dev preview 4. Where is it located on my phone so I can pull it and flash it with flashfire? Thanks

How to flash back to stock with root?

Stupid me didn't make a backup and flashed another ROM. How do I flash back the stock ROM, enabling me to get OTAs but maintain root? I want the original stock ROM...

Not really much of a point having the ability to get OTA when a new one comes out, a dev will do what is below shortly after anyway. OTA's are over rated..
Android OS, 4.1.1 Jellybean build JRO03D
Insecure boot.img
Rooted with the latest superuser
Busybox
Deodexed and Odexed options
Fully Zipaligned

Note that the downloads apparently don't work at the moment.
If you used the nexus root toolkit, it has the factory image there for you to flash back to stock and/or unroot/relock the device. Windows users only. -Ara

So is there no flashable zip for stock? I am a Mac. I rooted on my little brother's PC but he lives 1600 miles from me.

Did you take a look at the [Guide] Returning to Stock and/or Unbricking your device directions in the Nexus 7 Android Development forum?

Get the factory image, extract it and open the extracted folder, if you're using linux run "flash-all.sh" / windows run "flash-all.bat" while your nexus is connected in FastBoot mode. If you open the script in a text editor you will see that everything is already in it.

Man, you have to look around a little and do a much better job of searching
I shouldn't do this but it's your lucky day http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37925359

Didn't worked with me ( with updates to 442 until now, I can't flash any zips from there.. I have got a fail

If the ota fails every time, that means that your /system partition is too heavily modified for the ota to complete ( most likely the result of xposed). You need to disable xposed, flash the ota (4.4.4 zip) and then flash the SuperSU zip again for root, and then re-enable xposed.

I have tried what you said, sadly it doesn't work
I'm even did full unroot from inside the supersu.. I think I just need to have a modified update.zip to pass this.

Because it still fails, the best thing I can suggest is to download the 4.4.3 factory image, extract the system.img and the flash that through fastboot. This will return your /system to stock and you can flash the ota without issue, although you will need to restore any /system mods.

nexus 4 root (lollipop)

hi guys,
sorry, i know there's a few thread where they will guide me through to root my nexus 4. but i'm bit dumb on all these. At this moment, i'm on lollipop 5.0.1 and there's a lot feature are bit annoying, especially turning on & off the mobile data. So after quick google & read on thread, there's one widget can turn on and off easily the mobile data but it needs to root. so i have no choice i have to root my nexus 4.
one of the thread described root for lollipop 5.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/android-5-0-t2939282. can i follow this to root my nexus 4?

Android N available in Toolkit buT not OTA

Another interesting question I have is when I put my 6p to stock with Toolkit i seen 2 or 3 android N version's available to restore
But yet my phone is stock now and up to date with mtc19x.
Whats this about can it be restored and updated to N only with tool kit. Why don't I see any more updates available as OTA if N version is available as a restore software

If you are talking about WugFresh's Nexus Root Toolkit then those are all Android N previews and yes you can flash them. They are not the Android N release everyone is waiting for any day now.
