Hello everyone!
I recently bought a Huawei P8 Lite, it came with Lollipop 5.0.1. The thing is I would like to update to 5.1 at least. For all the reasons we all know about, this is kind of a must. However my operator hasn't send me the OTA package nor could I found one in any Huawei website. So I mailed them about this a few days ago, and got no answer yet.
So anyone here went through the same/has a stock 5.1 rom for this model? I have also read that some people swapped to ALE-21 for the updates and stuff, but I dont wanna mess with the baseband, since those post are not always properly detailed about this stuff.
Any comment, info, post, link, whatever on this topic will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
You can find more info here. if you don't want to upgrade to Ale-L21 just use this as a guide (Chapter 4) but with your own stock rom file that you download from the huawei website.

So i looked up the problem that you had with converting. and i put a comparison in the thread. thx for pointing out something we didn't mention before
you can find the comparison here http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomparer&id1=7978&id2=8162&id3=7966
the Ali-L21 supports more basebands the the ale l23 so that's all.
Seems like my only choice is to force an ale-21 single sim rom into my phone and try not to screw it in the process.. I dont understand why Huawei wont release a 5.1 update for .23 even if its the same as .21
Thank you a lot, I will follow the steps mentioned above and try some luck

Hello everyone. I have a question. Before that, I want to tell my story. Originally my phone is from china, which version is g9 (vns-dl00). At the first time I used the phone, I got notification for updating firmware. I followed the step and then when I saw the "about phone", my firmware turned into vns-l21c432c160. My question is, why the firmware turned into l21 instead of l31 cause I have 3gb of ram? And secondly, is it safe to flash the l31c432bxx firmware on my phone? Thank you and I really appreciate if there anyone who can help to answer my questions.

Hey guys,
I'm a noob when it comes to firmware stuff, only had some experience with rooting/flashing lg g2, which was pretty much straight forward. As of now, I have owned p9 lite for around half a year and I've grown tired of EMUI so I've decided to root my phone, install TWRP and flash something else. The only problem is that I'm not really sure if the processes of rooting/flashing presented in most tutorials are applicable to my phone, because the build number contains "ITA" and I haven't seen anything like that before. Does that change anything or can I just not bother and follow the standard procedures?
Regards,
Paul

I think you should not encounter any difficulty rooting your phone indifferently from the firmware you come from (however it matters if it's emui 4 or emui 5) it matters if you want to install roms, in this case it's recommended rebranding the phone in a popular and supported region (like C432).

Thanks for the answer. Now I'm running emui 5. So, if I want to install LOS 14.1, I just need to root, rebrand and then I can flash the rom?

Sorry for late answer, I don't know if you already fixed your problem but yeah you need to rebrand, flash C432B370 (dual SIM) or B371 (single SIM) and then follow the procedure to flash Los 14.1
Rooting isn't necessary because all of those things don't require user root.
Hi, I hate that my first post is a request, but I'm looking for the OEMInfo file for Huawei P10+ model VKY-L09C02 and the closest result I got from google is this post on XDA:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/help/vtr-l09c02-oeminfo-t3618083
Unfortunately the file is for the P10 (VTR) model and not the P10+ (VKY).
Please help
If you can't find it, i would recommend to rebrand to a more common model.

Thanks for replying, but I was hesitant about rebranding again since that is what caused my problems (sim not read by phone). But after some more digging yesterday I found a rebranding guide on FunkyHuawei where they mention that the VKY-L09C432 roms aren't working on compatible phones and that the solution was to rebrand to VKY-L29C636.
After trying this my phone could recognise my sim again.
Here is the link if anyone else needs it: https://funkyhuawei<dot>club/rebranding
Sorry for the format, but I'm new and forbidden from posting links
Hi everyone!
I've bought online a new P10 lite that I'm going to get in a few days.
As it will probably come with the old 7.1.2, I will flash the firmware with the lastest Official Android 8.0 Oreo Update (unfortunately, I'm a new user on this forum and I currently cannot post outside links, but you can find it if you ask Google for "Huawei P10 Lite Official Android 8.0 Oreo Update").
I want to root this stock firmware. On this forum, the following webpage shows how to do it (I guess it is for 7.1.2) : https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/how-to/twrp-how-to-root-p10-lite-t3617418
... but I'm wondering, does this procedure work with the above mentioned Oreo stock firmware?
Thanks!

You are correct, I didn't read carefully the link I referred to, I thought the downloads were Oreo firmwares.
However, Oreo for P10 Lite is about to be released (see twitter com/HuaweiPhones/status/957808377484148743)
Do you believe that this procedure to root the P10 Lite will work on Oreo? : https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/how-to/twrp-how-to-root-p10-lite-t3617418
I know that Oreo will soon be released Oreo for P10 Lite.
Your link on root for Nougat. On Oreo not work.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
You are very funny, you wan t to a phone you don t have yet with a ROM that is not released yet your post is so useful.
Why do you think anyone can tell if root will be or not possible?
Many devices is posible to easy root in one version of Android and after upgrade is not easy any more.
U need wait first for we have an official Oreo.

Your over-reaciton is more dumbish than his post.
1. P10 Lite didn't get Oreo (yet)
2. P10 Lite comes with Android 7.0 out of box

Hello dude,
it's due to your region (VNS-LxxC16xxx)
maybe you will never receive the upgrade to nougat (android 7.0/EMUI 5)...
De/rebranding for example to C432/Nordic-European region or other,,,
with the Sebastian's toolkit could surely help you...
Here the link to the thread..
Ask the DEV or other users to be suggested for the suitable/best for you...

Hello,
same as previous post i wrote dude...
I made a little search and it seems your CUST/REGION (C16) is due you live in South Africa.
That's all right but maybe you will never receive any official upgrade to nougat (android 7.x/emui 5.x).
So you need to change your cust, also called "rebrand".
You can do with @k1ll3r8e toolkit, the link is in the above post.
All info is explained as well, make sure you read a couple of time and make a backup of all your files before proceed..
Donot forget to leave your thanks to the developer, he did it for all of us users..
All the best.
@ljay1135
Hey mate use the forum to exchange all infos and files you want !!!
You are starting from zero and have a lot of things to do, try to follow and do one thing at a time....
First unlock bootloader and flash a custom recovery... TWRP suggested...
So download toolkit and simply follow what explained as well.
With the toolkit you can do everything you need to rebrand....
You need some kind of files you will flash with TWRP and stock recovery so only follow what are wrote in guide.
For the bootloader, Huawei site doesn't work so use DC-Unlocker to grab it...
Use search on the whole p9 lite thread to find what you're looking for
or kindly use @ and ask dev or other users to take an advice, i'm sure someone wil help you..
It's not really complicated, just before make some things read more time what you're planning to do.
I cannot guide you throw this, you can do it.. just believe in yourself and use brain (must powerful muscle we have..)
Have a good day dude and remember make a backup and do one thing at a time..
P.S.: To do this some basic knowledge needed. if you think you do not have them, give up... Sorry..
