Hey guys,
Searched the entire forum and HTC's manual but couldn't find any info of how to enable a Ringtone and vibration for incoming text messages at the same time. By default my device just rings and mostly times i can't hear it in my pocket. This creates a big inconvenience for me, in fact that I have to check my phone for incoming text messages all the time.
Is there any setting or app i can use to fix it?
Start > Settings >Sounds & Notifications> *switch to notification tab* > *scroll to Message: New Message under Event > you can enable vibration for new sms there.

thank u so much, u are a life saver!
Have searched high and low but cannot find anything. I need to know if there is a way to set the email notification sound and a separate one for sms notifications? I know you can change the sound in the gmail app but it doesn't apply to the main email app, so no matter whether I get a text or email it plays the same ringtone - it's very straightforward on winmo but on Android I cannot find anyway of doing it.
Any ideas?
Set your default notification sound as one tone for email. Set notification for messaging as the other.

In Android you can set your ringtone up by opening messaging hit the menu button then settings and look for notifications you should find you can set the ringtone from there, do the same for your email.

All sorted now second post had the answer, your method cannot be used as there is no ringtone settings in the mail app - that's what stumped me first off.

Settings/Notifications/Ringtone. In all messaging/email/Google Talk apps. They can all be changed independent of each other.

Hmmm strange just double checked this Rom on my HD2 and it's there under notifications in settings in both email app & gmail app, also checked my X10 and it's the same so maybe something to do with the rom you're running. As long as you're happy with your fix no probs.

Similar question - is there a way to disable sound for emails and enable sound for texts and vice versa? In volume control under settings, there is only one bar that lets you adjust all notification sound levels.

Turn sound for emails on/off:
open mail app > menu > more > settings > Notification settings
Turn sound for texts on/off:
open messaging app > menu > settings > scroll down to 'Received messages' section

In vibration mode, when i recieve sms my Defy doesn't vibrate
i found Messaging App --> Menu Key --> Settings --> Vibrate (Under the Notification Settings) and checked it but it keeps unchecking by itself....
what should I do?
I'm using 24.02 ICS
If you wan't vibration with sms'es you must check it in the sms app itselve.
Go to the sms app where all the threats are, press menu > setting > notifications
I want to be able to mute the Samsung "Email" app (work email) when I'm at my desk. Reason is, I don't need three devices alerting me that I have an email when I'm already sitting there starting at outlook. However, I don't want to completely mute my phone. I still want other alerts, ringtones, and notifications to work. I just want to turn off the notifications for the default "Email" app. Is this possilbe? I have a handful of writable NFC tags. I couldn't find any app in the playstore that offered this as a standard option. The only option I could find is muting the entire phone.
I see the Email App can be muted two different ways, could be many more:
1. Settings > Sound > Samsung applications > Email > [account name] > "Email notifications"
2. "Email" app >Settings > Account Settings > [account name] > Notification Settings > "Email notifications"
Any help would be great! Thanks!
Hi,
I use an thid party email app, Bluemail on my phone and would like to either delete or "silence" the default email app. As of now I get double notifications on every mail. I cannot seem to figure out hoe to turn off notifications or delete the default app.
Anyone?
Cheers!
Hi,
Did you try to remove your account from the standard email app by just set it back to it's defaults?
maybe:
Settings - > Applications - > Application Manager - > Email - > Storage - > Clear data and Clear cache)
Or(if you just don't want to see notifications from the mail app) disable the notifications from it by:
Settings - > Applications - > Application Manager - > Email - > Notifications - > disable Allow notifications
So both ways should work to get rid of notifications from the build in email app but with the second you will be able to use it further.
Hope I could help you.
Greets....
